41:15is to avoid pursuits
41:16no officer wants to get involved
41:18in a pursuit
41:18because of the dangers
41:19so I will do everything I can
41:21to bring something to a conclusion
41:23to get that vehicle stopped safely
41:25with no injuries to the occupants
41:27of the vehicle
41:28or the public
41:29you're continually forming a plan
41:31to try and do that
41:32that's my end of
41:33being on the road today
41:35Pursuits carry a certain level of risk
41:43that risk is highly dependent
41:46on what the fleeing driver is prepared to do
41:49and the risks that that driver is prepared to take
41:51we're always assessing
41:53and we're always managing that risk
41:55Derbyshire has specialist officers
41:58that can pursue vehicles
42:01can bring pursuits to a tactical resolution
42:03through either vehicle tactics or stingers
42:06to be able to bring these pursuits to a stop
42:10as quickly but as safely as possible
42:13unfortunately we do have to engage in a pursuit
42:16because it's a deterrent for others
42:17it annoys you at the lengths that people go to
42:20to try and get away from us
42:21you know going up the wrong side of roads
42:23going on pavements
42:24it's frightening
42:25you know these are innocent members of the public
42:27that's out there
42:28and don't deserve to be involved
42:30in anything that's going off like that
42:31In this episode

42:40The reckless golf driver
42:42involved in a 45 minute pursuit
42:44Straight over on red
42:45was remanded to prison by the courts
42:48the following day
42:48charged with dangerous driving
42:50failing to stop for police
42:52no insurance
42:53and no license
42:55At court he received a 12 month prison sentence
42:58and was disqualified from driving for 30 months
