Transcript
00:00Good afternoon everyone it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Friday October the 10th
00:04bringing you our headlines this morning. Some good news to start with
00:08Doncaster's hospice charity has been given a £4,000 boost
00:12thanks to a popular village scarecrow festival. St John's Hospice in Balby
00:17has received the much needed funds from the proceeds of this year's Sprottborough Scarborough
00:22Festival which took place over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of September
00:27and it's all a record 60 scarecrows taking part around the picturesque village it's
00:34always a sight to behold people go to Greatlands to to make their
00:38scarecrows as lifelike as possible so well done to Sprottborough and well done for
00:44raising so much money that's great news for the hospice which of course relies on
00:48such resources. Then not so nice one police sealed off a Doncaster area house
00:55following discovery of a man's body. Officers were called to the address in
01:00Howarth yesterday morning with neighbours reporting a heavy police activity. A police
01:06spokesman said the officers attended the address in Rutland Crescent just after
01:103.30. It wasn't yesterday actually it was the 8th of October and they
01:16discovered the man's body. It's not been treated as suspicious and they gave deep
01:22control condos as do we to the family and friends. And then lastly another one
01:28from the airport. A public meeting to discuss the reopening of Doncaster
01:33Sheffield Airport is to be hosted in the city centre by South Yorkshire's mayor.
01:38As Oliver Coppard will host the evening at casting Sir Nigel Cresley Square on
01:44November the 12th with all welcome to attend free events although people must
01:50register for tickets in advance as I'm sure there's going to be lots and lots of
01:54people wanting to attend. The event has been dubbed and cleared for takeoff and
01:58it's a Q&A on the future of the airport and it comes after the South Yorkshire
02:05Mayoral Combined Authority signed off a 160 million pound funding deal for the
02:11airport. The meeting takes place from half five to half seven. Details are on there
02:16get yourselves booked in if you have the interest of the future at heart and be
02:23interested to see what people have to say. So read all those stories and anything
02:27else on www.doncastrofreepress.co.uk
02:31Of course we'll keep you updated on Facebook and X and hopefully you'll have a
02:37great weekend and we'll speak to you next week.
