00:00Good morning everyone, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Monday, September the 29th, bringing you some of our top headlines today following the weekend.
00:09First of all, a bad one I'm afraid. A lot of you got in touch with us on Friday late afternoon as there were some massive tailbacks on the M62 and M18 around the Thorn area.
00:26Unfortunately there was a serious road traffic accident that afternoon and we've since discovered that the ride of an orange and white KTM motorcycle was in collision with the Central Reservation barrier.
00:42It was a 56 year old man who was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed. Obviously that's really really awful news so our thoughts with them at this sad time.
00:54Just we know that a lot of people were wondering exactly what had happened so that's not a great start to a week for anyone.
01:04Right, then we have another one from the police. A robbery suspect attacked police after officers arrested him with minutes of an alleged incident.
01:14The suspect was arrested minutes after a 999 call just outside Doncaster City Centre. Police said it sent officers to Penniston Street near Broxholm Lane after a man was reportedly threatened and told to hand over money.
01:30He had just withdrawn from an ATM down that particular street. Full story is on the website now. That's www. Doncasterfreepress.co.uk.
01:42Then warned from the council. Let's just have a look.
01:48Plans to convert a former Doncaster school building and grounds into an apartment complex with 99 flats has received numerous local objections.
01:57The proposals would see the Mary Woollett Centre which is formerly Danum Girls Gram School fitted with 55 flats and a new three storey building with 44 flats erected nearby.
02:11The applicant is at CR Constructs Limited and they also have a pair of semi-detached dwellings as part of the proposals.
02:20All the information is again on the website today for you. So keep a look out for new stories appearing on there throughout the day and obviously we'll keep you afresh of things on Facebook and X.
