See our easy, rewarding process for setting up pet grass on our Gold Coast balcony—picked up fresh at Bunnings! Since my spinal disc replacement, hubby takes on the tough part of packing the white planter with potting mix, and I handle replanting the established pet grass into the damp soil. Effortless addition of lush green to our spot. After a full day of mum duties and chores, escaping to the balcony for that peaceful greenery is everything—Piper will have his dedicated safe munch area soon!

Pet grass, such as wheatgrass or oat grass, brings big benefits for dogs like our French Bulldog Piper. High in chlorophyll and fiber, it aids digestion by improving gut movement and tackling hairballs or stomach woes. It fulfills their natural urge to graze, cleans up breath with essential nutrients, and offers a safe alternative to indoor plants that could harm them. Even better, it's full of vitamins A, C, and E to strengthen immunity and keep them thriving!

00:00oh thank you just probably three quarters full I reckon um actually a little bit fuller
00:17a little bit more
00:27yeah I've got a bit more
00:30yeah thank you that's awesome
00:50it will settle down with water yes please actually put more actually let's give it a water while in
00:55between you know I'll put a bit more I'll put a bit of water in here
01:03I don't want to over water it though because we do get a little bit of spillage
01:08from the garden there okay and now top it up with some dry salt
01:20a bag of potting mix doesn't go as far as you always think it's gonna go
01:23like that's not a big planter yeah okay thanks
01:40so we've just put some water into this potting mix that Luke poured might have had some back issues so I get him to do the heavy lifting today has been a really busy day of chores this is the day after basically so we bought the plants yesterday
02:00they've spent the night and the day out here on the balcony they've spent the night and the day out here on the balcony the only thing I'm going to do now though as the sun is setting and like I said it has been a busy day so we didn't really get a chance to do gardening today but I think this grass is probably the most vulnerable so I really wanted to pop this one in so we've just quickly prepared this and I'm going to whack this back back issue so I get him to do the heavy lifting
02:06jobs
02:26is because this really is about what also is this kind of a project that has kind of done so I finish doing it but look at thisÄôs this plant has not been great like nothing has really succeeded in this plan
02:35and I'm not sure if it's the make of this or the material or the paint or what have you
02:42but grass is supposed to be pretty hardy so we're going to try the grass in this planter
02:49and if this grass doesn't go well in the planter then I think I'm just going to give up on this planter
02:55because we have spent money on really nice flowering plants that just haven't done well in this planter for some reason
03:02so we'll see how the grass goes but I just thought this was probably the most vulnerable to leave in a pot
03:08and I don't really like doing that so I'm going to pop it in this beautiful new body mix
03:14I think I'll put it in the middle of wood at the bottom of this so it's going into really nice moist soil
03:22you know and I love being out here like it really has been a busy day of just chores
03:28but coming out feels like just being out in a little haven like you know I know we don't have much greenery
03:35but we've got some and it makes I think it makes a difference just having a little garden out here
03:41so here's our grass and I'm not going to show it to Piper tonight
03:47because I don't want him to actually nibble on it before it's sort of had at least 24 hours to sort of settle in
03:54but there it is that looks absolutely beautiful and I've got paper towels here to wipe up spillage
03:59because obviously the downstairs balconies don't like getting out drips
04:04and we've got a tennis ball in the drain as well
04:07so if you live in a high rise that's a really good tip
04:10if you want to prevent water from going down the drain onto other people's balconies just pop a tennis ball in the drain
04:16so I'm going to give this a nice water in and we've only got a minute because the kids are going to be needing our attention in a second
04:23but there you go so that's Piper's Grass
04:27isn't that beautiful
