00:07quote, real guarantees of a lasting ceasefire as part of any deal to return the remaining 48 hostages still under captivity in Gaza.
00:16Indirect peace talks between Israel and Hamas in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh have entered their third day
00:23as momentum picks up on U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed peace plan.
00:27Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati says the talks are progressing.
00:57Qatr, a long-time mediator between Israel and Hamas, raised an opposing viewpoint, citing major obstacles ahead.

01:30israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his cabinet is fully behind Trump's plan, which calls for the release of qualifying teams,
01:40release of all hostages, the disbandment of Hamas, and for Gaza to be placed under international
01:46governance.
01:48Trump said earlier this week that he believes that there is a really good chance of reaching
01:52a lasting deal soon.
01:58Israelis are marking two years since thousands of Hamas-led militants poured into southern
02:04Israel on 7 October 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking some 251 others hostage.
02:14In central squares in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, thousands of people gathered on Tuesday to
02:19remember the dead and called for the release of hostages.
02:23Nearly 400 Israelis were killed and dozens abducted from the Nova music festival in the border
02:44community of Rem.
02:46At the site of the Nova festival attack, people embraced memorials garnished with flowers, tributes,
02:52and candles.
02:53Over the last two years, the venue has emerged as a memorial site with portraits of the kidnapped
02:59and the fallen.
03:00It was a disaster.
03:01It really hit us.
03:02They hit us in order.
03:03They told us that they are coming, but they are coming, and they are coming, and they are
03:08coming.
03:09They are coming.
03:10Though there was no official ceremony due to the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, which coincides
03:17with the anniversary, the Israeli government plans to hold an official ceremony of the
03:22anniversary next week.
03:29Embattled French President Emmanuel Macron is facing mounting political pressure as outgoing
03:35Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu attempts one final round of negotiations to stave off a
03:41deepening political crisis.
03:44Lecornu proposed that discussions focus on two urgent matters, adopting a budget and the
03:49future of New Caledonia.
03:52He also confirmed he would meet each political party between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday
03:57morning.
03:59The effort marks Macron's last-ditch attempts to keep the government functioning after Lecornu's
04:04resignation on Monday, just 27 days after taking office, the shortest tenure for a French
04:10Prime Minister in modern history.
04:13But key opposition figures on France's far-right and far-left have rejected the bid, and two
04:19of Macron's former Prime Ministers have now distanced themselves from him as well.
04:24The latest developments underline the President's increasingly isolated position, even among his
04:29allies.
04:31Less than a year after the landmark verdict in a drugging and rape trial that shook France
04:39and turned Giselle Pelico into a global icon, Pelico on Monday testified at the courthouse
04:46for the appeal of a man convicted in her case.
04:50Husametin Dorgan, sentenced to nine years in prison last December, denies he intended to
04:56rape Pelico.
04:58He argues that he was deceived by Giselle Pelico's ex-husband, who drugged his wife and offered
05:05her to strangers online before filming the assaults.
05:09The 44-year-old construction worker went on trial Monday in Nimes, southern France on charges
05:16of aggravated rape by administering substances that impair judgment or self-control, an offence
05:23carrying up to 20 years in prison.
05:26He remains free pending a verdict by prosecutors that sought 12 years at his first trial.
05:32Pelico entered the courthouse under police escort, smiling as she shook hands with supporters
05:38who shouted words of encouragement.
05:40While last year's trial stretched over four months, the retrial is scheduled to last no more than four days,
05:47with a verdict expected on Thursday.
05:49The Bulgarian Elenite resort has been closed by authorities after heavy rain caused floods to sweep
06:01through the seaside town last week.
06:04The decision comes amid forecasts of more heavy rainfall in the region.
06:08The resort will reopen once the heavy rain subsides.
06:37The floods that have swept through villages on the Black Sea coast since last week have claimed
06:41three lives and forced hundreds to evacuate their homes.
06:46Bulgarian authorities declared a state of emergency in several towns, where regional public transport
06:51was halted due to flooded roads after days of extreme rainfall.
06:59Canada's Prime Minister met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss U.S. tariffs
07:04on Canadian imports.
07:07Mark Carney's main goal in the visit is to strengthen relations ahead of the planned
07:12renegotiation of a free trade agreement between the two countries next year.
07:19We are the second largest trading partner of the United States.
07:22We do a lot of trade going across the border where we're cooperating, first thing.
07:26Secondly, we are the largest foreign investor in the United States.
07:29After the meeting, Trump issued a cordial statement calling Carney an excellent leader who could
07:36represent him anywhere. He, however, added that trade issues still represent a conflict
07:41between the two countries. In March, Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff on Canadian imports,
07:48raising it to 35 percent in August. Some Canadian imports are exempt under other agreements.
07:54The key question now is whether U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminium will be reduced next year.
08:00Canada remains an important trading partner for the United States,
08:04but analysts do not expect a major change to the tariff situation.
08:08U.S. President Donald Trump says he is prepared to invoke the Insurrection Act, if needed,
08:17to restore law and order in U.S. cities run by Democrats who refuse his deployment of National Guard troops.
08:24The move comes after a judge temporarily blocked the Trump deployment in Portland,
08:29inspiring Illinois and Chicago to follow suit and file legal challenges.
08:33Illinois' Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker says his state's lawsuit seeks to fight back against what
08:39he called Trump's declared war on Chicago. Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office,
08:46the U.S. President highlighted the need to restore stability to these cities,
08:50which he says have become infested with crime. Trump added that his administration will resort to
08:55the rarely used Insurrection Act as a last-ditch effort if courts and lawmakers continue to block
09:01and delay his plans. The Insurrection Act is a law passed in 1807, which allows the incumbent
09:08president to mobilize U.S. military to carry out civilian law enforcement duties under certain
09:14conditions. It was last used back in 1992 by former President George H.W. Bush to suppress the
09:21deadly Los Angeles riots. Trump says he's committed to, quote, making America safe again and vowed to
09:28continue his efforts to clean up the cities he called, hellholes worse than Afghanistan.
09:58his videocon었다 just reached out and worm the United States.
10:05But anyway, so, officers are publicly funded and they have been warped against him so
10:06that is largely held down for encouraged by
