00:00Germany is no longer the country with the most asylum applications in the European Union,
00:07according to new data released by the European Union Agency for Asylum.
00:12By the end of June 2025, France and Spain both received more applications than Germany,
00:19which has been the main destination for asylum seekers in recent years.
00:23There was a significant dip in applications lodged by Syrian citizens,
00:28with 25,000 fewer than the first six months of the previous year,
00:33due to the fall of the al-Assad regime in Syria last December.
00:37Venezuela is now the main country of origin of asylum seekers.
00:41The increase is likely related to stricter immigration policy in the United States.
00:47Since Donald Trump retook office as U.S. President,
00:50he started a crackdown against Venezuelan migrants coming to the U.S.
00:54By contrast, Venezuelans can land in Europe without a visa

03:53them were hiding one child was with Phillips at the time of the confrontation and the other two were
04:00found in the forest hours after the shootout we've come across them in the area that we were identified
04:06as being a probable location in which we could find them and we've had communication with them
04:12and we've safely engaged with them and they're now with our police officers a police officer was shot in
04:20the head and critically injured and was undergoing surgery at a hospital the case has fascinated New
04:26Zealanders for years with police making regular unsuccessful appeals for information Phillips did not
04:34have legal custody rights for his children and authorities said they had not had access to formal education or
04:40healthcare since their disappearance microalgae grown on dairy effluents can cut the use of mineral
04:49fertilizers by 25% and could help reduce Europe's dependence on Russian imports in Saint-Laurent-de-le-Pret
04:56western France this bio fertilizer was tested on several wheat plots and compared with mineral
05:02fertilizers and other organic products the result is that in fact with the alga powder we have
05:08levels that are like the patches of drying it is that it is good it is better if we don't put anything but it is not as good as the mineral fertilizers if we put that
05:15there where we had some interesting levels is that we would mix the mineral with the alga powder because there we had the same levels that if we had only put the mineral but it
05:24has allowed us to eliminate a half of mineral fertilizers this product has been developed within walnut a European project aimed at cutting pollution and closing the loop between food and waste by recovering
05:38vital nutrients for agriculture from urban industrial and other types of waste water
05:42We have an agroalimentary factory where the effluents will be put in cylinders and in these cylinders we will
05:54cultivate an unicellular algae that will nourish the organic material of the effluents and the organic material will be converted into
06:01biomass végétal and it is this biomass végétal that we will take and dehydrate and then expand in the fields and as this biomass is rich in
06:08azote it will have a role of fertilizer unlike mineral fertilizers which release nitrogen instantly and are easy to dose algae powder works more slowly and requires planning from farmers more research is still needed to optimize it yet it could help Europe reduce reliance on imports cut environmental impacts and build resilience into its food systems
