00:00hi guys and welcome to drive spark and in today's news we have some important news for people who
00:08are traveling and especially using the national highway now new toll rules from november 15th
00:14that is non-fast tech users have to pay double the cash as you are already paying or if you're
00:20gonna pay from upi that is you're gonna do an online payment then you have to pay 1.25 that
00:26is about 25 more so starting november 15th this year drivers passing through national highway and
00:32toll plazas without a valid fast tag will have to pay double the regular fee if they choose to pay
00:38in cash and as i mentioned those who are paying through the upi will be charged 1.25 times the
00:44normal toll that is 25 more and not double now the change to the toll collection rule was revealed by
00:51ministry of road transport and highway in a notification about new amendments to the
00:56national highway fee rules the update set separate penalty rates for vehicles entering the toll
01:01plaza without an active or a functional fast tag now under the revised structure what will happen
01:07that vehicle without a valid fast tag will be charged twice the normal fee if the fast tag payment is made
01:13in cash however the same vehicle if they opt to pay via upi the fee increases by only 25 percent for
01:20example if your fee is about 100 rupees and you don't have a valid fast tag it will cost you about
01:26200 rupees if you're gonna pay in cash but if you're gonna do the same payment through upi that is an
01:31online payment it will just cost you 125 rupees that's a 25 percent increase of what you're gonna
01:38pay online the different charging structures aim to push motorists towards a fully digital toll system
01:45and that is why the government is charging extra because they want everyone to go digital and not
01:52make queues while you are standing on a toll the change is a part of a larger effect by the indian
01:57government and it is basically to streamline the toll collection and reduce cash handling delays at
02:03the highway plazas and especially standing in long queues which is not appreciated by everyone the
02:10government believes that this model will promote faster movements and enhance transparency in
02:15revenue collection now the new rule will take effect from november 15 2025 giving highway users a month
02:22to ensure that the fast tags are active or replaced if found invalid now nhai has already been directed to
02:29circulate the updated rule to all the toll plazas across so fast tags have been made mandatory for all four
02:36wheelers on national highway since 2021 the tag that is linked to the user's prepaid account allows
02:42automatic toll deduction and cuts waiting time as toll plaza as i mentioned before by removing the need
02:48for a manual cash payment now the indian government recently also released an annual fast tag pass which
02:54removes the need of frequent recharges by allowing users to make a one-time payment of rupees 3000
03:00it remains valid for up to one year or 200 toll plaza crossings and whichever comes first obviously then
03:08you'll have to get a recharge again so yeah guys this was the new rule that is going to come from
03:14november 15th once again let me tell it to you if you have a valid fast tag then you're good to go if you
03:20don't have a valid fast tag and if your fast tag is invalid then if you're paying through cash you'll have
03:26to pay double or if you're paying through upi that is an online payment then you'll have to pay just
03:311.25 that is 25 extra and let me mention it again via that 100 rupee thing so if your toll fee is 100
03:39rupees if you're paying back cash you'll pay 200 rupees but if you're paying online you'll just have
03:44to pay 125 rupees so i hope you like this video i hope you like this news for more such news like
03:50this please follow drive spark and i will see you in the next one
