00:00with the number three on his motorcycle the fly race and 15 second board up for
00:03the second time this weekend then race to MX2 and open 250 and 450s it's 30
00:08minutes plus two laps as they are for the nationals and of course MXGP races
00:12that five second board will turn heads will go down revs will go up there's
00:16Camden McClellan on the 53 for South Africa on the inside on an MX2 machine
00:19we're getting ready here we go through the right hand side middle the three but
00:24it's Hunter Lawrence will go through in that green and Lawrence comes out in
00:30front Lawrence with the hole shot there but Jan Panza in the blue and green for
00:34Slovenia Geiser was already third in race one so this is a fantastic start for
00:38Slovenia as well and Lawrence getting duffed up here he goes from first to
00:42third immediately as gifting goes through I think that was for Sweden was it yeah
00:50but but if we've watched anything with the Lawrence brothers over the year is
00:54that they're patient they don't just take a stab at him you watch oh even though as
00:57I say that he washes the front but does work himself right into first place so
01:02what Hunter Lawrence what an opening lap first to third back to the lead Jan
01:08Panza there in second position Valentin Guillo is in third place it's Dos Santos of
01:11Brazil there who was a fast starter in fourth then Everts then Juro of South
01:15Africa Shimoda in seventh place for Japan Renault Bonacorsi Hampshire in tenth and
01:21Cooper in 19th for the US so we'll get the maths started as we hit the the line at
01:27the end of this lap because that's when we will start to get a true indication as
01:30to where people are riders are and teams are classified but it's Lawrence who leads
01:34Hunter Lawrence they're from Jan Panza of Slovenia Valentin Guillo of Sweden of
01:39Switzerland and then Dos Santos there in the blue and yellow on the number 39 and
01:45just behind him Joe Shimoda who was impressive yesterday in the open class qualifying race first
01:51time out on the 450 of course don't forget that but he's side by side with the rider in yellow
01:56Liam Everts and RJ Hampshire all over the back of him the lead rider for the USA just here number
02:02six closest to us now in red great start for the Americans and RJ Hampshire is one of those riders
02:07that actually thrives when he comes from behind he loves to be the one chasing you know if you had your
02:13choice Paul you're always going to take the whole shot when you can so if you want to be anybody you
02:16want to be Hunter Lawrence but right now we're seeing some of the guys jump that triple over
02:19the finish and some aren't RJ cased it really hard yesterday so that might be in the back of his mind
02:24if he's jumping in or not but as we see those guys Joe Shimoda and RJ Hampshire they're starting to
02:30work their way pick their way through the field so Lawrence leads in three seconds clear
02:35leaving Jan Panza and Valentin Guillo to fight over that second place at the moment for Slovenia and for
02:41Switzerland Fabio de Santos of Brazil still there in fourth place although has he been caught past now
02:47by Joe Shimoda I saw the flash of red and white before I saw the blue and yellow but as we can see you
02:53can also see Joe Shimoda has worked up his work his way in the top five and Hampshire at the seventh so
02:57those two riders are working their way up but they have a lot of great competition right in front of
03:01them and as the top five separate a little bit you can start to use more of the track you're not
03:06worried about getting taken out by the other guy as much when you're back 7th through 15th
03:10yeah Shimoda has gone through look there we see third rider in shot and then it should be Everts and
03:15then De Santos and then Hampshire and I don't imagine it's going to take Hampshire too long to find his way
03:20past the Brazilian so Shimoda now up in the fourth place but this battle here early on for second as Hunter
03:26Lawrence already out of the left-hander heading up the main hill in the middle
03:30but Hunter Lawrence here and we've got we're looking for the second Australian rider in the inside
03:42Webster down again for Australia so that's why he's having to fight his way through traffic once again he's
03:52now up in the 28th place in race one he managed to get himself back to 15th so you are hoping if you're
03:59in Australia to better that 15th place score because you have to drop your worst result well
04:04Paul you've been in this situation sometimes I they've used a seventh place for me and that was
04:09the decider in 1984 so you can never give up you got to get up you got to keep fighting because maybe a
04:1415th maybe a 16th might be the difference you don't know what the other team is doing every place is a
04:19single point so 16 places 16 points 15 it pulls a point back as we stand right now on this sort of
04:25second lap USA lead the way on 35 France on 42 Australia on 46 because they've got a 1 15 a 29 and a 1
04:34to their scorecard all races count at this moment in time yes so that and that and that's really really
04:40tough for Webster because he had yet going down the first turn of both races that's what I mean you
04:45don't want to be the weak link and it really wasn't his fault it's just a it's a racing situation
04:50but fortunately for him it was right at the start of the race everybody's still bunched together it
04:55wasn't a big crash it was a tip over you pick yourself up you go there's plenty of areas around
05:00this part of the racetrack on that opening lap where riders are bunched up you can inside outside
05:04second guess and make some quick passes and that's exactly what Webster is doing he's now up in the 28th
05:09place but he's still got a lot of time on screen he's got a lot of passes to make as well
05:14if he is to better that 15th from race 1 to hopefully have that 15th place go away at the end of the weekend
05:20well we saw Kunin go out the last lap so you mechanicals happen so you got to make sure that you keep charging
05:2837th place for the number 47 the Belgian of Sascha Kunin in race 1 on this uphill climb through the right-hander
05:36he and Justin Cooper fell Sascha Kunin wasn't able to re-emerge into the race he was classified as 20th
05:42but he was sixth in the main race the first MX2 rider and that's Konrad Mews going down so Konrad Mews
05:47going down so Konrad Mews having issues Mews was in 26th position so Mews out as well
05:53but in terms of Sascha Kunin managed to pick himself up in 10th looked like it was going to be a fourth place finish for him as a class rider but Belgium were leaving the classification at that point and then when he wasn't able to cross the line and get classified with that 20th position all of a sudden we see
06:13heading into the start of this race the USA and France on top with Australia third and Belgium fourth but that changing already in the early stages of race 2
06:22so what is it Paul in the air with the brothers right now so you got the Kunin brothers from Belgium and you got the Lawrence brothers and you know the kind of rumor is hey
06:30the Lawrence brothers could do it maybe we can be the next generation of two brothers at the same time being up front
06:35I think it's just uh circumstantial coincidental that you've got two brothers again arriving
06:40we've also got it from Latvia with the racialist brothers uh Carlos riding the MXGP class Yanis who was the 250 European champion this year and 125 European champion two years ago
06:49uh he's riding the MX2 category here today and uh from that you know there are five sets of brothers in this uh nations this weekend from all over the world
06:59that's what I'm saying and right now and now is the time it seems that that the two brothers growing up together pushing each other and getting them faster
07:05faster and faster it's pretty awesome I grew up with a sister that was older than me so I didn't have that same drive I just had a lot of competition
07:11so with 23 minutes to go Hunter Lawrence leads Pensa and Guillaume
07:17Lawrence with the fastest lap of the race 203.1 compared to a 204.4 he's extending his lead to almost six seconds over Jan Pensa in Slovenia
07:32here's Liam Evertz for Belgium he is in sixth place riding a 450 in this event normally rides a 250 at home
07:38but he is uh in that sixth place doing what he can for Belgium Belgium still fourth at the moment but they're on 41 points
07:48in race one when we look at lap times 203.145 for Hunter Lawrence
07:56jet was a 201.3 in race one so uh already the track has gone away by a couple seconds because
08:02jet Lawrence's time was uh posted on lap four so only a couple laps from now so and that first race was a
08:0816 lapper so in that respect it looks like Hunter's right on pace so so I would say that the track has
08:15definitely slowed down two seconds because of the world because you can't do the the throttle response
08:21coming off the corners and how deep the ruts are and how fast you can blitz through the different
08:24works ruts are getting deeper braking bumps are getting bigger the uh uncertainty here's uh Sasha Coonan
08:34not having and also he would have been uh in uh sort of secondary start position if you like they
08:39would have put I would imagine Liam Evertz as the 450 guy in prime place because look at the amount of
08:47open class riders the first nine riders or actually it was ten but Justin Cooper has now moved into
08:52ninth as he finds his way past the Brazilian Fabio de Santos here is Jay Coop on the number five machine
08:58for Team USA so we got yeah sorry Hampshire in third Cooper in ninth so so Coop's definitely picked up
09:05from yesterday because uh Coonan and DeWolf had an unbelievable race going back and forth and very very
09:11tight all the long it seemed like Cooper couldn't do anything with him but today he seems to have the
09:15pace he has the wolf behind him by a couple couple bikes and he's got to keep pushing that forward once
09:20again every point counts in this range is it's it's different because it's a championship event it's
09:27not a championship you're not you're not collecting points over the year yeah it's like a a tournament
09:31you know like you would have as a tennis tournament a golf tournament it's a one weekend only deal and uh you
09:37have to be right in the very top of your game and sometimes that's hard on on the rider's ego to think
09:42god i'm racing for 15th place but i have to put as much energy into that as it is for first place
09:48well you look at someone like Kai DeWolf he's in 12th he is the second best MX2 rider um but three
09:55positions behind Justin Cooper of the USA so on that basis you know you're yeah you're doing okay for
10:03your your team your country but you are still 12th position in the race Hunter Lawrence leads
10:07Panzer second Hampshire third Shimoda four Guillaume Evertz Renault Bonacorsi Cooper and Fabio de Santos
10:13of Brazil we've got Jonas of Latvia in 11th DeWolf the Netherlands 12th his teammate Valana behind him
10:18about a second further back but as we drop onto uh this plateau here the 24 of Bonacorsi in eighth with
10:26Cooper behind him in ninth place for Team USA and i think you're right uh Ricky Johnson where you say as the
10:32weekend has gone on Chad Reed said the same in the first race the more he's on the bike the more that
10:37memory muscle is coming back and he's getting used to being back on the 250 and all those sort of
10:41instinctive reactions are coming back for uh Justin Cooper who we know was a very good 250 rider and uh
10:48with 19 and a half minutes to go here he is lining up a pass for eight well and and and there where i
10:55want to make a point is that Joe Shimoda is the same way he's learning to ride the bike you watch these two
10:59riders i think they're you know faster and faster as they go because they're going to learn the little
11:02ways of bringing power out of where Joe's going to be rolling on the throttle bar using the torque
11:07using the horsepower where where Justin's going i got to kill the entry and i got to carry a lot of
11:12speed through the middle just looking at uh Francesco Garcia in 14th place for Spain a loss of 13 positions
11:19for leaving the track gaining an advantage that's going to be 13 points Spain currently sitting sixth
11:24at the moment so that is not ideal for Spain and these are the kind of things that also affect the
11:30outcome these penalties these loss of points of whatever it is gaining a track passing on waved
11:34yellows or medicals not paying attention generally well and i mean there's so much happening you can
11:40see there's a lot of shadows a lot of colors a lot of things like that so the rider has to be very very
11:44sharp but Paul you've been at that level you've been at the top level you know what it's like when you're
11:47out there you see everything and here we see the wolf now catching Cooper so here we got another race
11:52for the for the MX2 coming on coming on right now yeah and this obviously for Kyle DeWolf he's going
11:57to go to the inside try and take the shortest route around that turn does gets out of there side by
12:03side with Justin Cooper and uh closes him down immediately and this should have been a Hayden
12:08Deegan Kyle DeWolf battle but with Deegan breaking his collarbone and Dean not fit to ride on Tuesday
12:13just days before this race his star racing Yamaha counterpart in the 450 category stepping down to 250
12:20uh riding his bike Kyle DeWolf just going past the number five i don't think we've seen the last of
12:24these two battling in the this second race at the moment no i i think that's going to motivate uh
12:30because when you you have a 450 past you it's one thing but now you know that guy's in my class i have
12:35to beat him and that's the guy that i needed to to win to get that individual goal um Cooper won the
12:41individual gold at 250 you know at redbud a few years back and so that's he's going to want to get that
12:46again well the best uh 250 rider in uh the first race was Kyle DeWolf Justin Cooper was third behind
12:54Valland and Valland at the moment in this race down in 16th so the uh the mx2 class win is going to be
13:00between Kyle DeWolf and Justin Cooper as it stands right now Hunter Lawrence eight seconds clear brother
13:06Jet was victorious by seven seconds in race one and we've still got 17 minutes to go plus two laps well in
13:14watching uh both the Lawrence brothers are very creative with their line selection a lot they
13:19remind me a lot of Stefan Evertz you know where i think they see the track different than everybody
13:24and they don't worry about i got to stay in this line i can crisscross here i can do a lot of creative
13:29things and then also when you have your brother that dominated the first race he could tell you
13:33those little lines those little shortcuts and things that that he did so um kudos for them to be able to
13:38work together like that so the Netherlands Calvin Vallandre goes past the Latvian half paul's Jonas but
13:46that small fry really in the great scheme of things Calvin Vallandre telling me this morning that they're
13:49not really in it to win it now because of the the lack of one of their riders four scores doesn't really
13:54get you classified you need both all three riders going out to get six scores be able to drop your worst
14:00but as it is they're going to have only four and uh that's not great for the Netherlands same with
14:05Germany in fact because uh Netherlands 18th in the classification Germany 19th so uh very very long
14:10weekend long trip to get here for that kind of result but uh we're getting ready to go down to pit lane
14:16with Lisa Leyland uh here she is down there in pit lane
14:23yes i'm just with Gautier Pollan team manager of team France um Gautier France currently third in the
14:29general classifications you've got a race and a half to go what can you guys do at this stage of the game
14:35i mean Matisse has been delivering an excellent first moto he's a young kid and he really gives it all
14:41right now he's on uh 15 but i know he got past he's on 16th position uh Romain had a little crash and
14:47we expect a little more from Maxime he needs to deliver more right now and pass minimum Guillaume
14:52and Everts and then we'll keep on going we know that that motor transformation we still have we need to get
14:57it going until the last moto and every points are really important that's a lot thank you
15:01RJ Hampshire Joe Shimoda have both gone past Jan Panza there was a lot of roaring in the uh pit lane
15:09area there just a moment ago so Hampshire now up in the second here's Hunter Lawrence did something
15:13happen to him as well yeah he went down so it might have been that so that's why he had a seven second
15:18advantage show or now it's out to ten but he's obviously made a mistake that's what it was as he
15:24crossed the line 10 seconds but he's lost some time so as we were doing the interview we heard all the
15:27crowd reaction i thought it was for Hampshire and Shimoda moving into second and third for uh
15:33the USA and Japan and pants are going down into fourth place but for Hunter Lawrence a rare little
15:37mistake just folding the front rejoining the start straight just at the end of pit lane that have
15:42spiked the heart rate just a little bit but it's also a little worn inside a kick at the back side just
15:47stay focused yeah stay on track and it's sometimes hard when you're not and i keep referencing you paul
15:52you've been out in front you know what it's like to have a big sometimes you start thinking about the finish
15:56or thinking about the next moto you can't do that you got to stay present all the time and this track
16:01is getting pretty slick right now it's not i think it's a great oh RJ Hampshire down take it paul RJ
16:06makes a mistake that is coming down from what used to be Godzilla coming out of that top right hand
16:12turn so out of second position re-emerges behind Everts in fifth so uh Hampshire out of second
16:18did all the hard work to get there so he's gonna have to regroup
16:20so from second to fifth here's how he did it was it just a stall or did he just get cross-rutted
16:32yeah just uh getting wrong there and also Shimoda had nowhere to go gave him a bit of a love tap
16:37on the way through maybe not quite so Shimoda out of second he re-emerges in fifth place
16:43so so uh RJ Hampshire with a lot to do but it's Lawrence who leads the way from Shimoda
16:49Panzer Everts and RJ Hampshire USA still in the driving seat though
17:00the big question then for RJ Hampshire is how can he quickly delete that from his mind and go back
17:07after the riders in front of him can he get back to that second third fourth position he's currently in
17:11fifth as it stands right now four seconds down and that will motivate him to go but how ironic that
17:18Joe Shimoda from Japan came over and won the championship from uh he had the controversy with Hayden
17:24Deegan and then now he's right in the mix this could be valuable points that we're losing so he's got
17:30to chase him back down and get those points back yeah a few seconds further back Maxime Renaud of France
17:34and it's France who sit third in the overall classification at the moment and what that's done
17:38has brought everybody closer together as well USA now on 30 Australia 33 France on 35 it's a five-point
17:44game at the top of this Chamberlain trophy this motocross nations fourth is Belgium with 54 but they
17:50can drop a 28 uh USA can drop 11 as it stands right now Australia can drop 16 that is an impressive
17:57ride for uh Webster he's up into 16 with 12 minutes plus two to go so he will be looking to drop that 15
18:03from race one every point from here on out is a bonus for them and in the way the pace that he's got
18:08going right now and that the level of rider in open is not the same level as MSGP so he's going to be
18:15able to make those passes on some of the uh big bikes the 500s and their 450s but you know what i'm
18:20saying the open class guys so he should as you said make it up close to the top 10. Andrea Bonacorsi here
18:26for Team Italy still in seventh he's got Maxime Renault behind ahead of him for France on the number 15
18:31Yamaha these two fighting uh quite regularly in the MXGP World Championship but this one for national
18:37pride of course France versus Italy well and i've noticed that a lot when i was in you know over
18:43in Europe is that there was a lot more rivals of the of the countries that are close because you race
18:48against the guy multiple times and a lot of times the rivalries are the hardest of the riders inside each
18:53one so take another look at RJ Hampshire as he comes around yeah just a super slow-mo that's around
18:58that GoPro uh turn just outside one of the hospitality villages there saw it with Tim Geister in race one
19:04just losing the front and then the back coming around and then catching the wrong side of the
19:08the rut and then pitching him offline on the descent very easy to mistake to make but also just
19:13highlighting you've got the best riders in the world and when they're making those kind of mistakes as
19:18well just goes to show a how technical the track is b how hard they're pushing well and also we've
19:23saw Hunter Lawrence lose the front wheel swapping on the second on the first lap uh he lost the front
19:27wheel and then losing the front wheel again so we've seen the track is getting hard and slick so it's
19:31very tacky where it's tacky very slick where it's slick so the guys are really got to pay attention to
19:37where they go from brake to throttle battle going on here as we hit the line Mattis Fallin and Kyle
19:43Webster these two fighting over 14th and 15th place you know what this has been a great ride for the
19:50Australian two times he's been down in the deck in turn one going in and coming out still got some
19:55work to do but looking good at the moment
20:0010 minutes plus two laps to go thereabouts Kyle Webster all over the back of the Frenchman Mattis
20:05Fallin really digging in deep riding on instinct having fell on the exit of turn one at the start of
20:10the race he knows every point counts having been in this position last year when Australia were victorious
20:15for the first time at Matchley Basin Great Britain and uh he does not want to be the guy that lets the
20:20team down nobody wants to be in that position but if he can improve on that 15th from race one every
20:25point is a bonus he's in 15th at the moment in this second race but he's got Valland right there ahead
20:31of him and Francesco Garcia of Spain Garcia has a time penalty or a position penalty of 13 places so both
20:39these guys are going to move up Adamo is just a few seconds further up the track three seconds
20:43further up the track in fact that's him coming downhill now so i'm not sure whether Webb still
20:47be able to close in on the former world champion but he's definitely got two riders ahead of him here
20:52that can help Australia's cause when all is said and done well and he definitely has to hold his head
20:57high because he's done an unbelievable ride in both events but as i say coming from being on the ground
21:03both times eating that much roost and then also trying to find your way around on the smaller bike
21:08always makes it more difficult
21:12just looking at the time of scoring Evertz and Hampshire separated by about a half a second
21:15Hampshire goes by moves into fourth position Evertz down into fifth then so another point another
21:20position gained for the American RJ Hampshire after he made that mistake two uh two laps ago he's back on
21:27the charge he's less than a second behind Jan Panza here is RJ Hampshire and there is the Slovenian ahead of him
21:32in third place let's have another look at the start then shall we
21:38and why certain things are the way they are i guess
21:47so Hunter Lawrence in the middle Evertz around the outside then just watch coming out of the inside of
21:53the turn now two riders go down one of those was uh Kyle Webster but this is the part that's interesting
21:59watch Lawrence very patient but he gets passed by two three guys but then here is Webster on the ground
22:06stock as we take another look at it as they as they go in you see Hunter there as he comes in very safe
22:11in the middle but then opens it up but he gets really tight on the inside just looking to see who
22:16the other guy was there on that that Yamaha that went down well and when i when i walked the track
22:23before the race i thought you know what if i think i'm going to get a whole shot i'm going to go to the
22:26middle on the inside boxes and if i don't think i'm going to be able to make it around i want to get to the
22:31outside so i can carry some more speed around and just stay away from trouble in that first turn
22:36but that's also the advantage of having the first or second gate pick you can say right the best place
22:40to start the safest place is going to be either middle left or either side of the doghouse where
22:45you can rely on people at the inside just backing it off to hold a tight line you can carry more
22:49momentum that's what Jet Lawrence did in race one Hunter Lawrence started a few positions down from him i
22:54i think and came away with the pretty much same result but too hesitant through turns two and three
22:58got swamped immediately but he didn't waste any time trying to get back to the lead and he's led
23:03now for the majority of the race 11 seconds almost his lead over Joe Shimoda and really impressed right
23:08now with with our RJ Hampshire as he's working different lines notice he's not going uh just following
23:14the rider in front of him he's using inside outsides well there he got kind of pinched now will he be
23:19see i don't think he's gonna be able to clear the triple at this point neither of them do
23:2410 laps complete Hunter Lawrence 11 seconds clear of Joe Shimoda of Japan and Panzer is third but for
23:30how much longer because as we just saw a moment ago Hampshire closing all all over the back of him
23:35Evertz has been dropped by about 2.2 seconds as it stands right now in the overall classification USA on
23:4128 Australia on 31 France 35 Belgium 50 Spain on 56 there's some big scores to be dropped
23:49hopefully in the last race as uh scores come down and improve it's also the best race today isn't it
23:55two 450 riders per race it's a big 450 race that final one for the most part anyway maybe there's uh
24:02an open class rider on a 350 or something like that but who knows but Webster's works his way up to 14
24:08so he is continuing his march uh my hat is off to this young man he's had to battle his way through both
24:13events and then you're also on the smaller bikes so you're you're you're dealt a handicap right from the
24:18beginning he did come over here and had some great showings in America so we're going to see more
24:22out of Webster after this for sure but uh right now he's doing exactly what he needs to do and just
24:27keep picking those guys off the rider ahead of Kyle Webster is a Spaniard Francesco Garcia normally rides on
24:33a 250 in the European Championship so stepping up to the open class on a 450 he's a big lad anyway and a
24:37strong lad fit as well but here he is unaware probably that he's got a 13 place penalty for uh
24:46gaining an advantage leaving the track and gaining an advantage is what it is on the screen so all of a
24:51sudden Webster will gain another place so will Valin and uh the guys behind him har up in 16th
24:56racially 17 speeds of Germany and we've got Wade Jellos out there in the background who was that so
25:01somebody down already yes it went down off to the side but but but when we watch the start i think
25:06that he went to the inside he went off the course went around the inside he avoided the crash but still
25:11getting penalized that much is going to hurt him and i don't think he knows it yet because it's really
25:15hard to identify that oh yeah that was the uh yellows that we saw a moment ago and now they're obviously
25:23wave so it's uh one of the Norwegian riders
25:32so it's either Pelle Gundersen 50 or Huck and Fredriksen i think it was uh Gundersen
25:36process of elimination because Huck and Fredriksen normally riding on a Yamaha so unless they've
25:40just completely whited all their motorcycles but there is the two of Webster here is RJ Hampshire
25:47still not able to find his way past Jan Panzer Jan Panzer is a privateer in the very essence of the word
25:54because turns up in a small camper with a trailer on the back very small trailer mum and dad as team
26:00boss and mechanic does all the deals themselves they go to every round of MXGP they pay their own way yes
26:06they get paid in terms of sponsors and bonuses and things like that but they've come here as part of
26:10team Slovenia and when you see him a privateer in third position at the biggest race on earth that
26:17is pretty impressive and uh sure he and Tim Geiser will be absolutely over the moon they're equaling their
26:23best at the moment seventh overall but they can drop a 33 from their MX2 rider Yaka Pakalai from race one
26:31and DeWolf has worked his way up to eight so he's got two he's got a rider in between him right now
26:36um between him and Cooper so he's in a very good spot for the team so Carl Webster still cracking on
26:43but so too Hunter Lawrence he's in control Shimoda second Panzer Hampshire and Evans your top five
26:49so Hunter Lawrence three and a half minutes plus two laps to go just like younger brother Jet Lawrence
27:02in race one leading every lap of the race so far Jet Lawrence 16 laps in race one
27:09across the line seven seconds clear Hunter Lawrence even more dominant 10.6 so not sure how much Jet was
27:15holding back because there was never really a threat from Lucas Kunen as much as the Belgian in
27:20his rookie season in MXGP is impressed never really got close enough once Jet made that move around the
27:26outside put some distance between him very very quickly and then from there it was pretty much
27:31settled in that respect something that isn't settled is this battle for third Panzer and Hampshire
27:36Hampshire going the long way around the outside oh gets stood up over the wall jump that would have
27:42cost him a little bit of time and so looking keeps looking back I was going to point that oh he runs
27:46into the back of him oh that's two for RJ so tough break and Evertz goes back around the outside loses
27:52another position he gains it loses it again just coming to the inside Panzer stopped I don't think it
27:58was an initial uh intentional break check but that's exactly how it worked out RJ was on the inside
28:03Panzer stopped RJ into the back wheel and down he goes so hard tough tough break as you said he loses
28:08that spot to Evertz again and so let's see if he can get that spot back a lot of work for RJ
28:14Hampshire in this photo yeah he just had that one moment through the finish line area over the wall
28:17jump but you already saw going down the straight that uh Jan Panzer was looking across like I think
28:22just to sort of see where Hampshire was and then maybe he wasn't anticipating Panzer to slow up as much
28:27he was he was probably thinking to cut back yeah but that was it here we go watch he tries to cut back
28:32he squares up the corner boom just looks like he got cross rettered and then mistimed it all
28:37yeah but as I said I it didn't look like an intentional I'm looking back break check like
28:43you see sometimes like kind of what happened in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago really I must have missed
28:48that one yeah you were the only one person in the world that missed that one well I heard that Joe
28:53doesn't speak English exactly Joe does not didn't understand what he meant uh but no that was a tough
28:59break for RJ I don't think it was intentional just RJ thought well I'll shoot underneath him
29:02Panzer came in stopped because it was coming down the inside it's Sasha Kunin the Belgian where his
29:09E up to now he's into 23rd still trying to claw back some points for Belgium 23rd in this second race
29:16they got a 20 in race one that was because Sasha Kunin here with the bike expiring so the two twin brothers
29:24at the nations for the first time 14 Belgium it was looking so good Belgium were leading the
29:30classification then all of a sudden they drop positions and now they're on the fringe of the
29:36podium but they know they've got some big scores to drop as well so with the Ricky Carmichael rookie
29:41award did they get to share it because they're twins that would be the first the lowest score I know but
29:47I think it'd be pretty ironic to give them both to them
29:55Liam evans with about 30 seconds to go Hunter Lawrence picking himself up
30:04did he just have a moment there
30:06Lawrence the number three I was going to say Evers is up to fourth Hampshire down to fifth because of
30:12what happened a lap ago at the end of pit lane where the two riders just touched wheels Hampshire
30:16went down lost that fourth and potential third but uh Hunter Lawrence just a little erratic one or two
30:23little mistakes which you don't normally see what are we going to see some different tires something a
30:27little bit more of a hard pack I know the guys are going for the paddle tire because they want the start
30:31but is it starting to tack up to where we're going to see more I want to say of an intermediate
30:35type tire to help these guys get more traction because we've seen a lot of riders losing that
30:39front wheel I know in Europe they prefer a paddle tire when you've got conditions that are a mix of
30:45if it's not completely hard packed just because the paddle tires are now so yeah just picking
30:49himself up look the paddle tire is so so good now across the board but uh Hunter Lawrence rejoining the
30:57race he had about 11 second advantage Shimoda not close enough to make any kind of threat on him
31:04that's Shimoda at the top of the hill now so that's going to be down to around about seven seconds I would imagine
31:09seven or eight as you see over the monster bridge now and then this corner here that's Shimoda
31:17so maybe not even uh 11 not even seven seconds I would imagine
31:23but the two lap board will go out this time around for HJ Hunter Lawrence
31:29well I think the problem that the guys are having Paul is the shadows the shadow you notice the
31:34shadows from the trees and then the different shades of the dirt and then so you you go to trust
31:38the dirt and then it the wheel pulls away from you so this is a very tricky track but I what I do like
31:44is that I'm seeing multiple lines guys aren't just sticking right behind another rider RJ Hampshire back up
31:49the inside of Everts regains that fourth position with two to go and the gap between Panza and Hampshire
31:58only 2.6 seconds so Panza's lap time last time around was a 208.5 Hampshire 206 I can see RJ pushing
32:08right the way to the end it might be a grand finale finish it could be checkers or wreckers what is this
32:15is a thing that we have in stock car racing there he is just out the corner as well so you see the
32:19green and blue any moment now that is the target back in third position for RJ Hampshire and the way
32:25that he's looking at the moment he looks like he's got plenty left in the tank he's and that's the
32:29thing about RJ he will go all the way till the end I mean he's one of those riders that you know a lot
32:34of times when riders go from 250 to 450 you see him crashing a lot having a lot of trouble he adapted he
32:39seems to ride better with the more horsepower the more torque than some of the other riders he had more
32:43crashes on the on the 250 than he does on the 450. So Lawrence leading the way then Shimoda that gap
32:49down to 4.3 that's how expensive it was it was about a seven or eight second uh four meanwhile
32:56Carl Webster he is in 14th position and that brings Australia and USA just two points apart Australia 31
33:06USA 29 two points clear this one not over until it's over but look at the scores that they can throw away
33:13USA can throw away 11 Australia can throw away a 15 that's where you see the level up France can
33:18throw away 15 and they're on 35 points so three teams really mathematically in with the shot as we
33:24head into the final race wait and anything can happen because I mean now you have Australia's nothing
33:29oh RJ down again RJ Hampshire down one more time turn turn 13 where he had that mistake earlier
33:34that's going to be points back for Australia are we going to be even Steven going into the final race
33:40but of course he goes through so he's gone from fourth to seventh position on the final uh on the
33:46penultimate lap RJ wheels just starting to fall off maybe just pushing too hard well he's he's got to
33:53calm down because he's got to get to the finish line and not lose any more any more spots he also has to
33:57give him keep make sure that he's healthy for the last round so it's a short it's a short distance he's got
34:02the two motors back to back so where the guys in the mxgp had all that time to rest but of course
34:08he's not an easy rider to pass either the big italian watch this same part of the racetrack back's
34:13going to go around on him again this time headbutts the handlebars and throws him down on the shoulder
34:19looking not to get away with the shoulder injury there as well because he was dragging and pulling
34:22that shoulder could have come out of the socket right there but it didn't but everybody seems to be
34:26losing that front wheel the front wheel seems to be tucking on the exit as they start to roll on the
34:30power and brings power to the back of the bike it gets the front light and that's where we've seen
34:35hunter crash we've seen rj crash a couple different times so this track is very very technical right
34:40now everts belgium gain a point as a result of that france gain a point crucially italy gained a
34:46point but they are in six with a lot more points to sort of uh drop if you like hampshire losing three
34:52for america how much will that cost because usa and australia now have switched look australia on 31
35:00usa on 32 and france on 34. it is game on probably the closest nations we've had going into the final
35:08race in a very long time well and and but that's but that's what i love about this event i've been
35:12fortunate to be on very strong teams and we had a pretty good pad going into it and going into the final
35:18round but this is one of those things with all the 500s going trying to get to that first turn first
35:23it is going to be very crucial to exit that first turn in one piece with the last moto so hunter
35:29lawrence and in control on this final lap just a handful of corners to go for the australian
35:34shimoda for japan second pantser for slovenia third evarts belgium fourth renault france fifth
35:39bonacorsi italy six hampshire all over the back of him that position could change on the final lap
35:43dewalt the first mx2 rider and he's probably going to be the mx2 class winner as well with uh the lowest
35:49score in both of those races for london for the netherlands nine jonah's ten but it's going to be
35:54a race win for hunter lawrence as he wins race two and australia go to the top of the standings
36:02after two races and with one race to go usa are second france are third and there is not a lot in it
36:09with just another 30 plus two remaining here is rj hampshire did he find his way past bonacorsi no he
36:17didn't so it's going to be australia and usa going into the final race just one point apart and that
36:24is telling as well hampshire's going to be kicking himself when he goes back because he's going to feel
36:28that it was him that's let the team down at this moment but with a race to go you still don't know
36:32how it's going to turn out and when we watched rj on that last turn same thing almost crashing on the
36:37exit so i think they got to do some chassis adjustment raise that back up a little bit
36:41so it's not squatting so bad so everything to play for but it's australia who lead
36:57we'll go down to talk to our race winner from australia hunter lawrence in just a few moments time
37:03but uh before we do rj ricky johnson great display of riding but at the same time it was uh
37:11not straightforward for hunter longers no it wasn't he had some trouble we haven't seen him have that
37:17kind of i'm not going to say brain fade this track is really getting these guys it's it's a great
37:22combination to me it's more like old school like when we used to ride where the track is not real deep
37:26it's not just hammer down you have to roll on the throttle which jet and hunter do absolutely well but it's one
37:32of those things that you got to be thinking on every bit so this last race is going to be unreal with
37:36all the 500s on the gate absolutely
