00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judo. I'm here with Walter Porter. It is Mr Liam Keane where it's finished
00:12at Molineux. Wolves 1, Brighton 1 and that's two points dropped for me Liam. Yeah, no,
00:17I have to agree. In many ways very similar to the Spurs game. Probably harder to take
00:23really because you're at home against Brighton. Don't get me wrong, we're a good side but you
00:29know you would argue a point away at Spurs or a potential win away at Spurs is even bigger
00:33and I think the way that Wolves went about that second half after missing a couple of big chances
00:37which we'll come on to is really the most frustrating part for me. I felt they were too negative in their
00:42substitutions, I felt they allowed and invited pressure on far too much and to be fair they
00:50were standing firm for the vast majority of it. I thought they defended very well actually, got a couple
00:55chances I'd say on the break and probably should have wrapped the game up but to concede it in the
01:00way they did I think Van Heek is essentially unmarked. He gets away from Wolves, gets above him and
01:05there's no one else really near him and it's a soft goal to concede. It's a soft goal and it's the 86th
01:10minute and Wolves are at home with a chance to get the first win and it's so, so frustrating. I think they
01:16threw that away themselves rather than Brighton got back into it. Yeah, I thought Brighton looks
01:20dangerous and threatening the first 10 minutes but Wolves got into it, got into the game, got a
01:24foothold and then a crazy 60 seconds. Let's go chronologically and Vito Pereira getting sent
01:30off. Yeah, he was sent off in about the 20th minute. There was a Jao Gomez incident where there
01:36was a shirt pull and he didn't get a foul which Brighton had a chance from. A minute or so later,
01:41Hugo Buenna gets taken out by Beléber who gets booked. There's quite a bad foul right in front of the
01:45dugout. Nothing more than a booking but pretty strong and it was from that point that Pereira got
01:51sent off. He didn't really know what happened at the time. We both missed it. We thought he'd said
01:55something. Turns out that he booted the ball pretty hard, I think, into the dugout. There's
02:01a little dugout in between the home and the away. You probably had to see it down there.
02:06There you go. That little middle one there. That little mini one there. He's kicked the ball into
02:11that and the people that are sitting in there. The balls hit them, obviously. There was a couple
02:17of suggestions. It wasn't either of those situations but regardless of what situation,
02:21they were frustrated that. He keeps it in frustration. It was immediate red card.
02:23There was no hesitation. No hesitation from Jared Gillett, the referee, who I thought was pretty
02:28poor today. That's not the reason Wolves didn't win the game but I thought it was important to know.
02:31I didn't think he was very good at all. Within seconds of him walking down the tunnel,
02:36Wolves are in the lead. It drops to Minetsi pretty well because it's a bad clearance from
02:42the Brighton defender but it's an unbelievable shot. A brilliant save from Verbruggen in the
02:46first place to get it onto the crossbar. Unfortunately for him, unfortunately for Wolves,
02:50it bounces off his back and goes over the line. Wolves are in the ascendancy. They had a couple of
02:54chances after that. They sorted the half out pretty easily. As I say, the second half, they had some
02:59chances. Arias with a huge one, has to score from eight yards. He gets pulled back by Hugo.
03:05What a chance. Totally unmarked. It's a massive opportunity for him as well as the game.
03:10Pass the score. Larsson goes near post with a chance. Sort of drops the shoulder, gets a little
03:14bit of room, hits the post and you're just hoping that it's not going to be one of those days again.
03:18And it was two weeks in a row. Wolves have conceded a late goal and been denied a winner.
03:23But like you say, are they victims of their own downfall? Not just these two chances. And look,
03:27we know about goals. Jürgen Strong and Larsson still to register a goal in the Premier League
03:31this season. John Arias exactly the same. You go down, you invite pressure,
03:34those substitutions. I mean, Jürgen Strong and Larsson, probably his best period in the game
03:38there, then got taken off. He looked absolutely furious to be taken off. And then you bring
03:42him defensive. Do you sit back, do you invite? Are those substitutions inviting that pressure?
03:47I think they were. Yeah, I think they were. I remember doing, you know, we did the Spurs game,
03:51and I remember speaking to Dave Edwards for the Expression Star column a couple of days later.
03:55And he made the point to me, which is something that maybe got under the radar at the time, that
03:58when Totty came on late in that game, he thought Krejci was going to go into midfield.
04:02And that isn't what happened. They had a back six for the last few minutes. And of course,
04:06Wolves ended up conceding, you know, in an area where Palinio received the ball, where perhaps an extra
04:11midfielder would have been there to mop it up. And it was something that went under the radar at the time. I thought about it,
04:14and thought about it all week and thought, I think Dave's got a really good point here.
04:18And again, coming into this game, I think it's an error. I really do. Now, once it's 1-1,
04:22they actually push Krejci midfield, make a couple of changes and go for it. But at that point,
04:25it's redundant, isn't it? Because you're already down to 1-1. I felt that taking Larsson off,
04:30which he was furious at, because it was a mistake, at least replacing him with a striker rather than
04:33Bellegarde, at the very least. And bringing Agadu on and going to a five invited a bit of pressure.
04:40I thought Agadu did okay. I don't think he did anything particularly wrong, but he's erratic,
04:44of course. And it just invited and gave Brighton that little bit of extra room. So,
04:47yeah, for me, I think Wolves were victims of their own downfall again. That isn't Brighton
04:52coming into the game and snatching a winner and deserving it. That's Wolves, in my opinion,
04:55handed it to them on a silver platter. Yeah, it could have been worse, couldn't
04:58they? Because Sam Johnson had to make an absolute point blank save from Rutter just before the equaliser.
05:02Fantastic save, yeah. Rutter makes brilliant contact with the ball, sort of gets around his mark.
05:07I think it might have been Krejci at the time, gets around the mark, it gets a toe on it.
05:10It looks like it's going in the top corner for everyone's money. And Johnson pulls off a fantastic
05:14save. I thought he was very good again today, to be honest. Strong performances all round from him.
05:17Santi Bueno as well again. Santi Bueno I thought was excellent.
05:20I thought Tatchewa did well. Tatchewa did well. Krejci I thought did well again,
05:23continues his strong performances. So there's lots of, I thought the midfield was good as well,
05:26Andre Gjargomez. Andre at times maybe slightly behind the play, but I thought he came into the game a
05:32lot better throughout as the sort of game progressed. There's a lot of good performances in there,
05:36lots of good performances. I thought Quang actually did pretty well. I know it will be criticized,
05:40but I'm going to be honest and objective. I thought Quang did pretty well. But then Lars was quiet again.
05:46Arias misses a massive chance. And yeah, he's involved in the game at times and did okay at times,
05:50but you've got to do better with those big moments. So for all of the positives there were in and around
05:56that midfield and defence, Wolves didn't win a game again. And they now go into international break
06:00and then suddenly underway. And Burnley here just after that.
06:03I was going to say, as good as Wolves have been in large periods of the game in the last two games,
06:07they've got two points to show for it. And they're still cut adrift from the rest of this
06:11table at this moment in time. When you look at that and you've got two weeks to stew on that,
06:15that's going to hurt bottom of the table and the gap.
06:17Yeah. And I said to you during the game, I said that whether Wolves do it or not in this game,
06:22they have to get over the line, even if it's a slim 1-0 win, they have to get over the line and
06:26defend and get those nerves out of their system. And they couldn't do it again today. That's the problem.
06:29They might have to do that at some point. Here against Burnley, you might have to scrape through
06:34and it might not be pretty, it might not be enjoyable, but you need to get a result and get
06:38a win. For confidence reasons, they didn't get that today and they really needed it. And that's
06:42my concern for this team going forward. In terms of the substitutions, and we both disagree with
06:47them, game management is key when you haven't got your head coach on that touchline. It doesn't help,
06:52does it? No, I think it would have been helpful to have him there. From what I've been told
06:57from people who saw the incident, Vitor did run over and was very apologetic after it happened.
07:01So it clearly wasn't intentional. It clearly wasn't something that he was
07:05doing maliciously. But of course, it's a little bit naive as well, because you can't get yourself
07:09caught out, especially with the referee today. Well, I know I've said he was poor already today,
07:12and I think he was, but someone who was very, very happy to give out cards today. He was very,
07:18very quick on the cards, Jarrod Gillett. I thought he didn't allow the game to be as good as it could
07:22have been based on his referee performance. But knowing that and seeing that 20 minutes into a match in the best
07:26league in the world, don't make a mistake like that and keep the ball in any way of frustration,
07:31because you're going to have a situation like that. But look, Vitor's an experienced guy.
07:35He'll learn from it. He knows he'll have made a mistake. And it will have impacted the team to
07:39some degree, because you need your guard, your leader out there. Seven games without a win,
07:44and you go to Sunderland and Burnley, like you say. I mean, a massive game now at the stadium
07:47in a couple of weeks' time. Then Burnley down here, I mean, crikey. When you haven't won a game,
07:52when you're looking to see how you can get a win.
08:05And we're back. How can you see out a win? Can you get a win? They haven't got,
08:08they don't know how to win a game of football this moment in time. That's the worrying thing.
08:11I mean, I mean, well, I'll talk a lot about it in the week, coming up to this Sunderland game.
08:17What? Where am I? But if they're going to have to have a lot of bottle going there, you know,
08:23they're enjoying their time back in the Premier League, understandably so, particularly the start
08:26they've made. We're also going to have to show a lot of character going there, and they're going
08:29to have to recover from this very quickly. Now, maybe having a bit of a break is going to be a
08:33good thing, but what would have been much better is getting your first win. It's a big blow. It really
08:39is. They have to try and recover somehow from this, and that's going to involve Vitor and the staff
08:42pick them up. It's a big blow not being with you at Sunderland as well, mate, going forward by time.
08:46It's been a pleasure, mate. It's been a pleasure. It's been a pleasure. It's been a pleasure. It's
08:49been an honour. Thanks very much for watching over the last 11 years as well. For the final time
08:53with me and Mr. Liam Keane, it's finished. Wolfhampton 1-1, Brighton 1. For all the post-match
