00:00Hello Nathan Judo, I'm here with water pourers, Mr Liam Keane, we've come inside because it's
00:14raining at Compton Park Liam, it's pouring down, we're in the broom cupboard, the broom cupboard
00:17deep at Compton Park. We've heard from Vito Pereira ahead of the big game against Brighton
00:22on Sunday 2 p.m. kickoff and there's been some some interesting team news. There has. Well
00:29should we start? Let's start with probably the biggest news of the lot. Let's start with
00:32flu and virus potential, gait. That's not the biggest news but let's go with that. Let's
00:37go with what Vito actually did tell us which is Totti Gomez has flu, he said it's time for
00:45the flu in terms of maybe there's a little bit going around but he only mentioned Totti
00:48in the same breath he mentioned Larson but we think that's more to do with the Achilles
00:52and him coming back from that sort of ongoing knock rather than flu situation and that was
00:56all he said and that's all he mentioned so we're expecting Totti to be a doubt you would
01:00imagine. Yeah I think so. At the very least probably on the bench although in my predictor
01:04he'll be on the bench anyway and Larson I would suspect he's in the squad again we'll
01:10come back to our teams at the end but I think he might be on the bench for this one as well
01:13so yeah a couple a little bit of news there what Vito didn't tell us which we found out
01:16after the press conference is that Matt Doherty will be out he's unavailable he has broken his wrist. He did it against Bournemouth back in August the second game of the season.
01:23He's had a small cast since then and this week he's had surgery on that so that keeps him out of Sunday's game will keep him out of Ireland's national team games as well which he's not been called up for that because of that reason.
01:38Sure. He's probably likely to miss a couple games later in October as well he'll be out for a few weeks but we're not expecting it to be too long term so hopefully should be okay relatively soon.
01:47And I guess if you needed to get this operation done with the international break coming up it makes sense to get it.
01:51I think so yeah I think so obviously he's missed out on the Bryan game he's missed out on playing for his country but the player would have been consulted he would have been also given all of the information from the experts or the medical team here that will make sure they do the right thing for the player as well as the team and obviously the injury.
02:05So yeah it seems like sensible timing for me. Again it would have been maybe 50-50 if he had played or not against Brighton I think he probably would have been on the bench so again seems like a relatively smart decision I think to do it now.
02:20I thought Vitor Pereira was in a better mood he's been a little bit downcast the last couple of weeks and look when you haven't got points on the table you can understand that there's a frustration there but look they've got that one point at Spurs and I think overall yes disappointing the way that they conceded so later on in the game but there's a confidence about this team now they know they can compete and I think Vitor's seen on the training ground this week that they're getting there I think the answers to the questions that he's been putting to this squad are finally getting answered.
02:45Yeah he's sort of the messages coming from him is one of optimism really talking about the players being ready to compete and proving themselves and continue what they did against Spurs into a home game against Brighton a team that in Brighton are pretty good some pretty decent Wolves have not got a good record against they are Wolves' bogey team by some margin and now Wolves have got to overcome all of that and continue a performance.
03:11If you get the performance first the result should take care of itself to an extent bearing in mind a little bit of luck so they've got to put something on for these fans and that was another part of Vitor's message as well is we need the fans we need everyone behind us but you're only going to get that if the players turn up and that's their challenge.
03:26Look no win at home in the Premier League since April I mean that's a long time so it's obviously going to be a difficult season they're going to struggle we know that they need to stay up that's the most important thing that's the most important thing driving all of these players and the management but they need to make
03:41Molyneux a fortress again don't they they really do and I always say the same thing when we talk about this for me it's not the responsibility of the fans to do it albeit they have a big part to play in it it's the players that have to get the fans involved in the game but once Molyneux is bouncing once it is a dangerous and difficult place to play it's a massive advantage to Wolves and it is so hard for other teams to get into the game so the fans are going to have a massive part to play in that but they're only going to get to that point if the players actually put in performance
04:11and the product on the pitch is something worth cheering for Wolves I think have shown some good signs in the last week or so they're going in the right direction but I think Sunday will be a massive massive indicator of exactly where they are because yeah it's alright doing it in a cup game it's alright doing it albeit relatively well in the second half you know away at Spurs but it's longevity you have to do it now home game I guess yeah a decent side but a side that can be beaten in front of your own fans that's the acid test that for me is going to be a real
04:40massive indicator of where this team are at and if they actually are going to make improvements and they're actually going to stay up this season they've got to do something on Sunday for me I'm not suggesting they have to win the game I'm not suggesting that they have to absolutely batter Brighton but there has to be a continuation of this improvement and this journey that they're going on if it's another backwards step all of a sudden it's a long international break and it's a long trip all the way to Sunderland away on that Saturday
05:10they've brought in over the summer the players that haven't played in English football but now I think there's a quiet confidence in Vito Pereira that they're starting to realise that they can perform at this level and it's going to take some time of course it is but I think he knows that they're ready now and he says it's a good group of players
05:25yeah he was again pretty optimistic about that wasn't he was talking about the players being prepared and ready to prove themselves but as Vito keeps saying and I think we would both agree talk is cheap you've got to go and do it you have to go out there and prove it and show it they did it for the most part against Spurs it's massive now on Sunday against Brighton every game Wolves go without a win it becomes even bigger of course it does team news so obviously you said there's players could miss out they could be on the bench where are we going are we going three back three or going back
05:55four yeah I think it'll be three five I think I think I think it'll be that similar to what we said on the podcast I think so yeah maybe one change from what Vito said today yeah I'm going to go with Tony starting I think with because he was a little bit again could be just sort of games yeah gamesmanship yeah absolutely yeah Brighton listening to the press conference I'm sure but I think he's sort of talking down a little bit where Larson is physically and fitness wise so he is trading though isn't he he is he is he is involved I would imagine maybe on the bench but I'm going to go with Johnston, Tatua, Santi Bueno, Agbedou, Krejci
06:25Hugh Bueno, Andre Jao Gomez, Manetzi, Arias and Tolu I'm going to go for I was last originally while I'm going to go to Tolu now and Agbedou in the middle of that back three yeah I think so yeah score that let's stick with what I said on the pod here oh let's stick with it 2-2 it's not the you know the fairytale send off for you but it is a decent point to build from no it is the fairytale send off come on it's Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 it's Brighton 2 for all the build up on this one make sure you log on to expressandstar.com
06:52Thank you
