00:56Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:58I'm Sofia Fernanda from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
01:02We'll begin with the news.
01:03Stay with us.
01:21Just hours after a 45-day ceasefire extension with Israel was announced, Lebanon well-controlled
01:27the news amid fresh Tel Aviv attacks targeting medical facilities that killed six, including
01:32three paramedics, and left dozens injured.
01:35According to the Emergency Operations Center for the Ministry of Public Health, an Israeli
01:40air strike on the Islamic Health Authority Civil Defense Center in Haruf, Navadia District,
01:44resulted in six people killed and 22 injured.
01:47The ministry photo stated that another attack on the primary health care center indeed struck
01:52a medical facility and resulted in 17 injuries, including paramedics.
01:57These are the latest human rights violations committed in southern Lebanon, just hours after
02:01the 45-day extension of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel was announced.
02:13Following the continued violations of the ceasefire by the Israeli occupation, Hezbollah, the Islamic
02:19resistance in Lebanon, conducted a series of high-impact drone and missile maneuvers against
02:23targeted in occupied territories.
02:25The operation was carried out along the borderline with Israel in defense of Lebanon and its people,
02:30following continuous Israeli ceasefire violations and military aggression against southern villages,
02:36resulting in hundreds of civilian deaths and injuries.
02:38As part of this systematic response, Hezbollah launched an attack with aerial and drone bombings
02:43against the Israeli army's command post and headquarters in Lehmann.
02:47It also carried out attacks against Israeli troops on the Al-Bayad-a-Nakura road, which confirmed
02:53direct hits and incursions in the town of Hula near the Al-Marg.
03:04On Friday, Israeli aggression against a building in the Gaza Strip left at least eight people
03:09dead and dozens more injured.
03:11Two Israeli air strikes targeted a residential area and a civilian vehicle in Gaza City.
03:17Three women and a child were among the dead.
03:19Israeli bombardments continue to violate the ceasefire, destroying civilian infrastructure
03:24and terrorizing the population.
03:26Rescue services are working tirelessly to save their lives as the Zionist regime intensified
03:31its offensive against the Palestinian people.
03:33Let's recall that this Israeli attack comes on the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, a Day of
03:39Remembrance for the estimated 750,000 Palestinians who were expelled from their homes in 1948 due
03:45to the creation of Israel.
03:51The building has five floors and is fully inhabited by civilians.
03:54Each floor contains more than one apartment.
03:57It is heavily populated, and today, incidentally, this Friday, families were visiting one another,
04:01and about half an hour ago, it was directly targeted without warning.
04:07The building was full of children and women.
04:10There were displaced people, children, and women.
04:13Children are burning alive, and women are burning.
04:15Whoever says the war on Gaza is over is lying.
04:18Every day there are martyrs and injured people.
04:20Children die every day, people die every day.
04:23Where is the world?
04:24Where is the world?
04:27With the latest attacks, the toll in Gaza in the past 24 hours rises to 13 dead and 57
04:33injured by Israeli aggressions.
04:35These figures reported by the Gaza Health Ministry are a demonstration of Israel's constant
04:40ceasefire violations and disregard for international humanitarian law, as the Zionist regime continues
04:45unobated this genocide of the Palestinian people.
04:48In the sense, since the ceasefire began in October last year, the death toll from the Israeli
04:53attacks has reached 870 and the number of injured has climbed to 2,543, while a total
05:00of 771 bodies have also been recovered from under the rubble.
05:08And Israeli aggressions in the West Bank have intensified on Saturday, with occupation forces
05:13killing two Palestinians and settlers setting a mosque on fire and raiding Palestinian homes.
05:18The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that a man was shot by occupation forces in Yen
05:22a Palestinian refugee camp in the North and West Bank.
05:25At the same time, a 15-year-old child was also shot dead in a town south of Nablus by
05:30Zionist forces that also prevented ambulance crews from reaching the site where the child
05:35was shot and assaulted medical teams attempting to assist and treat them.
05:39On the other hand, the Wafa News Agency reported that settlers stormed several Palestinian
05:44villages near Nablus, torching vehicles and attacking homes after forcing entry, causing
05:50widespread panic among residents.
05:52Meanwhile, in Ramallah, settlers set fire to a mosque and burned down two vehicles parked
05:57in a score yard.
06:06Speaking at the United Nations event marking the 78th anniversary of the Nakba Day on Friday,
06:11Iran's Ambassador Amir Said Irabani reaffirmed the Islamic Republic's solidarity with the Palestinian
06:17cause.
06:18Irabani called on the international community to address the root causes of the Palestinian suffering,
06:22saying that their struggle underscores the urgent need for international mobilization
06:27to confront the root causes of the situation, including the Zionist occupation and expansionist
06:33policies that drive the inhumane pressures imposed on Palestinians, such as starving civilians
06:38including children, and acts of state terrorism, even ending cleansing and displacement of Palestinians
06:44from their homeland.
06:46Adding that, when it comes to seeking justice and peace for Palestine, surrender is not an option.
06:51As the pursuit of justice leaves no pass other the steadfast resistance.
07:01Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, social organizations marched through the streets of Rotterdam on Friday
07:06to mark the anniversary of the Nakba, and defending the right of return of Palestinians 78 years
07:12after the start of their forced displacement.
07:15This way, demonstrators held large cardboard keys in solidarity with those who were forced to
07:20leave their lands by Israeli forces in 1948.
07:23Protossors explained that the day served as a reminder that more than 750,000 Palestinians
07:29were expelled in that year, but continued to hold on to the keys of their properties as a symbol
07:35of their right to return.
07:36Let's recall that every year on May 15th, Palestinians around the world commemorate the Nakba, or catastrophe
07:43in Arabic, marking the mass displacement from their homes and villages following the establishment of the State of Israel.
07:54For almost 80 years, Palestinians are still oppressed and murdered, and they don't have the right to return to their
08:04homes.
08:05Their homes are being stolen all the time.
08:08Gaza is being bombed.
08:10The West Bank is being raided.
08:12The West Bank is being raided.
08:12So we're standing here to memorize all the Palestinians who were killed in 1948, but also now, and yesterday, and
08:27ten years ago.
08:30So we're remembering them today, but we're also asking for justice.
08:37To remind us that more than 750,000 persons had to leave their homes, were expelled from their country, from
08:48their homeland,
08:48but still kept their keys, so they have the right to return.
08:55And that's why we remember the Nakba today carrying these keys.
09:06Almost 80 years, Palestinians are still oppressed and murdered, and they don't have the right to return to their homes.
09:16Their homes are being stolen all the time.
09:19Gaza is being bombed.
09:21The West Bank is being raided.
09:24So we're standing here to memorize all the Palestinians who were killed in 1948, but also now, and yesterday, and
09:39ten years ago.
09:41So we're remembering them today, but we're also asking for justice.
09:49To remind us that more than 750,000 persons had to leave their homes, were expelled from their country, from
09:59their homeland, but still kept their keys, so they have the right to return.
10:06And that's why we remember the Nakba today carrying these keys.
10:18And now we have a short break coming up. We'll be right back. Stay with us.
10:38Welcome back. We'll continue in Russia, where a drone operated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked an apartment building in
10:44the Russian city of Belgorod, leaving nine people injured.
10:47The regional crisis response center reported that among the injured are a three-year-old girl with sharp old wounds
10:53and a woman with facial and leg injuries, both of whom were transferred to a hospital.
10:58The explosion set several balconies on fire and damaged the building exterior.

11:40a long period of fighting, more than a company of manpower of the 225th separate also regime of the Armed
11:47Forces of Ukraine.
11:48In addition, they eliminated seven ground robotic systems and 23 Babagayaga hexacopters.

12:01advance towards the city of Odenkov.
12:13And in Bulgaria, the main highways were blocked by a series of protests against the fuel price hike.
12:19On Friday, motorcyclists blocked roads in Sofia to protest against a sharp rise in the cost of fuel, which has
12:25increased by more than 80%.
12:26During the protests, the writers described the increase as direct violation of European Union consumer protection laws.
12:33The protests have opened up a debate on the inflationary effects and the lack of government regulation during the country's
12:39monetary integration to the EU process,
12:42with similar demonstrations taking place simultaneously in dozens of cities.
12:46Organizers said they would extend road blockades if their demands were unmet.

13:24the Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces as part of the Disaster Response Initiative.

13:38of the population, as well as the forces and resources for response and recovery in disaster situations.
13:44With meetings, evacuations, drills, and cleaning tasks executed across the nation, the today exercise continues the preparedness efforts as the
13:53country has developed over the years.
14:14FIFA announced on Thursday that megastars Madonna, Shakira, and K-pop band BTS will headline a Super Bowl-style halftime
14:22show at the World Cup Final.
14:23The halftime show will support FIFA's Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative working
14:29to raise $100 million for children worldwide during the World Cup.
14:33In this context, Colombian artist Shakira confirmed she will perform the tournament's

14:43to the fund.

15:03game's halftime break.
15:10We have a final short break coming up now, but we'll be right back with more from the
15:14South.
15:14Don't go away.
15:28Welcome back from the South.
15:29The Costa Rican government has escalated its trade dispute with Panama to the diplomatic
15:34level, over restrictions affecting the export of domestic agricultural products.
15:39Precisely, Costa Rican President Laura Fernandez noted that the trade friction had already gone
15:44beyond the scope of negotiations handled by the Ministry of Foreign Trade, and that she
15:48had referred the matter directly to Foreign Minister Manuel Tobar to activate diplomatic channels
15:54for its resolution.
15:55The statement comes amid trade tensions between the two countries over sanitary and vital sanitary
16:00restrictions that have slowed the entry of various Costa Rican agricultural products
16:04to Panama.
16:05The disagreement continues despite a ruling in favor of San Jose by the World Trade Organization,
16:10a decision Panama Appeal.
16:18The issue of Panama's trade embargo on our agricultural products is top priority for me.
16:24I know that potato farmers, onion growers, dairy producers and others have already been affected
16:30by the trade embargo.
16:31This is an issue that has already gone beyond the scope of negotiations by the Ministry of
16:36Foreign Trade, and I have brought it directly to the attention of Foreign Minister Manuel Tobar,
16:41so that he may initiate international diplomatic efforts and take international action.
16:48Because I stand with Puerto Rican producers, and we will not tolerate any imbalance in the
16:56marketing and export of our country's products.
17:01Moving to Nicaragua.
17:02On Wednesday, a third is inaugurated the General Miguel Ángel Torres Road in Managua to improve
17:08the quality of life for thousands of families in the capital.
17:11The three-kilometer-long highway has constructed using hydraulic concrete and features four traffic
17:17lanes.
17:18This project connects key areas of the city from Laurel Sur to Vía El Coyotepe, integrating new
17:24developments such as Vía Jerusalén and Caminos del Jerío.
17:27It is worth noting that the avenue is named in honor of General Miguel Ángel Torres, one
17:32of the youngest leaders in Sandino's army and a hero for his struggle in defense of the
17:36Nicaraguan sovereignty.
17:38The authorities emphasize that the project is part of a road modernization plan in Managua,
17:42designed to address population growth and strengthen social development.
17:52Meanwhile in Bolivia, trade unions and social movements have been protesting against the
17:57government of Rodrigo Paz for 12 consecutive days.
17:59In this context, during a press conference, President Rodrigo Paz announced that anyone
18:04promoting mobilizations in the country demanding his resignation will be in prison.
18:09Meanwhile, miners, farmers and indigenous groups are continuing to demand concrete responses
18:15to a series of labor, economic and territorial demands.
18:17They are also blocking several strategic roads as a means of putting pressure on the executive
18:22branch.
18:23On the latest AF protests, clashes were reported between security forces and members of the
18:28mining sector near the city of government in the center of La Paz.
18:40The process of the homeland, and it's irreversible.
18:44Whether those who seek to dismantle or destroy the homeland like it or not, I say this with absolute
18:53statements, so that is clear to the press.
18:56Those who attempt to destroy this democracy will face imprisonment, because the value of democracy
19:02is about any personal interest.
19:09Meanwhile, in Colombia, presidential candidate for the Historic Pact Party, Iván Cepeda, expulsed
19:14a new right-wing plot to sabotage his election campaign.
19:17Presidential candidate Iván Cepeda stated that the audio recordings falsely linking him
19:22to a member of the FARC dissident groups are proud of a similar campaign designed to damage
19:26his reputation.
19:28He directly blamed Álvaro Uribe and Paloma Valencia for this lie.
19:31Cepeda also demanded a correction after it was confirmed that the recordings belonged
19:36to an extortionist prisoner who had possessed a member of the FARC dissidence led by Calarca.
19:41The progressive candidate announced that he would ask the prosecutor's office to investigate
19:46those responsible for these criminal actions, which aim to create a false narrative during
19:51the electoral period.
19:59I am requesting that the situation be corrected, one media outlet at a time.
20:07That is the situation.
20:09I have been very clear in my recent statements.
20:15I present all forms of pressure from armed groups aimed at altering the popular will in any way.
20:24But that doesn't mean that I will tolerate these fabricated schemes being carried out with this impunity.
20:38In Venezuela, on Friday, Acting President del Cerro Rías met with a high-level World Bank delegation,
20:44led by Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Susana Cordeiro.
20:48The Acting President stated that this meeting marks a significant step towards establishing
20:52and developing the country, and is the beginning of a new phase of dialogue aimed at attracting
20:57international investment, creating jobs, and promoting the economic growth.
21:01The meeting with the World Bank follows the Acting President's announcement on April 16th
21:05of the reception of relations between Venezuela and the International Monetary Fund.
21:10By restoring these channels of multilateral cooperation, Venezuela is reaffirming its determination
21:15to moving towards a diversified economy that is open to the global market,
21:19and committed to the well-being of all the citizens.
21:30Like this, we have come to the end of this year's brief.
