01:02And I hear it's pretty, pretty hard
01:04Not only physically hard, but mentally hard
01:08On not only the woman, but also the man
01:11And we're going to be talking about, you know, well, up to a couple
01:15And they're going to be telling us about their IVF journey
01:19What they're doing, what they've gone through
01:21And in the hope that they have of starting their own beautiful, wonderful family

01:39So, I mean, you know, when it came to the beginning of the story
01:44You wanted to have kids
01:46Did you know, or you didn't know, that you weren't able to do that right away?
01:51We knew that we were unable to
01:58Yeah
02:01And then, how did that affect you?
02:05Did you want to have kids in the beginning?
02:07Or was it just, oh, we just wait?
02:10I know it's a sensitive topic
02:24I get it, it's very sensitive
02:26And what, I mean, you know, I see that on your face
02:30That you've gone through a lot
02:32And, you know, to get where you guys are today
02:35And I realize it, so take your time, no rush
02:40We, well, I found out that we both, yes, were in wanting to have a child
02:51But I pretty much seemed like it was a little hard to break it down to him
02:56That I was unable to
02:59Right
03:00When you found out, Reginald, that Vanessa wasn't able to
03:06How did that affect you?
03:09I was like, okay, if we can't have a, you know, a baby naturally, there's other options out there
03:20So I didn't want her to feel like I was disappointed in her or anything like that
03:25My mindset was like, okay, so what can we do?
03:27That's where I was at
03:28Yeah, yeah, you know, a lot of people put pressure on women to have a baby
03:33You gotta have a baby, you know, you know, if you can't have a baby, you're not a woman
03:38I don't, I think that that comes from other women
03:42Coming from a man, Reginald, how do you feel? Is that viable?
03:48No, I don't think that's true at all because every woman have their own story and reason behind
03:54Why they can or cannot, you know, have a child
03:58So I don't think that's fair to say that, you know, you're not a woman if you can't bury a child
04:03Yeah, I agree with you, I agree with you
04:05Vanessa, how did you grow up? Was it like that for you?
04:08Because I know for me it was like that, oh, you gotta have a kid
04:11You just can't be like you, you're not a woman if you don't have kids
04:15Was it like that for you or was it just something self-conscious in you that
04:20No, most definitely like that, it was more like the traditional ways
04:24You get older, you get your career set, you get married and you have kids
04:30I did not know that there was such thing as females not being able to carry their own children
04:36Yeah, yeah, that sucks, that just sucks
04:41Because every body is different, every female body is different
04:46You know, I was the only one my mom could have
04:49And she barely carried me
04:51And every child after that was in miscarriage
04:55Every single last one, she could not hold no more
04:58I was the miracle child
05:00I come with lots of deficiencies because she couldn't eat during her pregnancy
05:04So she had to be intravenously fed
05:09So there are different, different situations that we all have to go through as a woman
05:16But not being able to have a kid, it doesn't make you less of a woman
05:21But now you want to have children
05:23So now you have a journey
05:24Tell me, have you already gone through this process
05:27And now you're going through it a second time?
05:29Or is this your first time?
05:31This would actually be our second time trying
05:36I got you
05:38And what was your first experience like?
05:41I mean, for both of you
05:42So I guess, ladies first
05:44Vanessa?
05:46It was exciting, nerve wracking
05:49We didn't know
05:51Like we knew the process
05:53But we did not know it was going to take so much out of us
05:57Mentally, emotionally, physically, financially as well
06:02And this was more of a teamwork
06:06Sacrificing, working hard to make sure that our goals was going to be met and accomplished
06:14And Reginald, I mean, seeing her go through this
06:18Cause there are shots
06:19Did you give her the shots?
06:20Did she give herself the shots?
06:23What was that like for you?
06:25It was a mixture of both
06:27Some shots she administered herself
06:29And some of the shots I did
06:31But I was there helping her
06:32And encouraging her
06:33And telling her
06:34It's going to be okay
06:35Like through the pain and everything
06:36With the different shots that she had to do
06:38So I was there coaching her and everything
06:40Every step
06:41That's wonderful
06:42That's beautiful
06:43To be together like that
06:45To see that this is going to be a, you know
06:49A husband and wife effort
06:51It's going to be something that she can't do alone
06:53And that you Reginald can't do alone
06:56There are two different outcomes
06:58And I'm looking for the first one
07:01Baby
07:02Okay
07:03But you also said that there are other options
07:06And I have also seen videos of women who couldn't naturally conceive in the beginning
07:13And later on in life
07:14Boom, they're pregnant
07:15It's like, what the heck happened?
07:17You know, so
07:18Tell me about that feeling
07:20You know, what if it works?
07:22What if it doesn't work?
07:23Do you guys have a backup plan?
07:25Our first embryo actually did work
07:32And everything was going according to plan
07:37We were so close to graduating from our fertility clinic
07:42To be on our own with it
07:45But unfortunately
07:47We had a miscarriage
07:52And that was recently on August 13th
07:56I got you
07:57I can remember it clearly like it happens every day
08:00In my mind over and over again
08:02It's tough
08:04It's tough
08:05My mom never got over losing her babies
08:09But she also told me
08:11She said there were probably going to be multiple problems with that child
08:15And because
08:17I don't know if you guys believe
08:18But I do
08:19The most high took the child
08:20Because it would just have suffered too much in life
08:23And so
08:25And so
08:26That child's not here today
08:28But
08:30You have a new journey that you guys are going on
08:35Tell me how you're preparing for it
08:36Because I know you guys are sitting in the nursery now
08:38I saw the crib
08:40Hey!
08:41Yes
08:43The nursery is pretty much waiting on
08:47The finale
08:50The baby
08:52And we're excited
08:54We're nervous
08:55It's
08:56I know that the feeling
08:58From the first one
09:00Pretty much with everyone
09:02Everything that we went through
09:03Is going to carry on to the next
09:05And that's very nerve-wracking
09:07Just the thought of
09:09Even though you want to stay positive
09:11And we have faith in it going through
09:15But it's still nerve-wracking
09:17Yep, definitely
09:19Yep, just getting our mind right
09:21And just being prepared to do it again
09:23You know, it takes a lot of hard work
09:24And, you know, prayer
09:25And
09:26Just different emotions and everything
09:28Going through this process
09:29But
09:30We've been, you know, recharging our mind
09:32And, you know, just getting ready
09:34And getting prepared to, you know, give it another shot

09:37What are you guys doing differently this time
09:39That you didn't do the last time?
09:40I heard one woman had her tata sewn
09:45I don't know
09:46It was sewn up
09:48You go, hold this baby
09:50Okay?
09:52But
09:53I don't know if that's the extreme or not
09:55I didn't
09:56I don't understand
09:57But what are you guys doing differently this time?
09:59Is there like a different plan?
10:01Is there a reason that the first one probably didn't take as well?
10:06Or you had a miscarriage?
10:10There's really not
10:12They couldn't find a reason into why the miscarriage happened

10:20Very healthy
10:21And
10:22So
10:23We're not sure what happened

10:26And Reginald, you know, as a father

10:33Because you know what?
10:34Even though you are
10:36You're not holding your baby
10:37And I don't mean to make this emotional
10:39I do know what it's like to be a parent
10:42I have my children
10:43And I have three grandchildren now
10:45Yes, I'm an old woman
10:47Okay?
10:49But
10:52I know what it's like to miscarry
10:54Because I miscarried too
10:56I don't consider those babies not mine
11:00Even though I couldn't hold them
11:03They were still my babies
11:04So
11:05In retrospect
11:06I'm
11:07Mother
11:08Of four children
11:09Two
11:10Alive
11:12Being that you are a mom
11:15And a dad
11:17Regardless of whether you're holding your babies
11:20When you get this baby in your hand
11:22Because I'm believing for
11:25That crib to be filled with a beautiful, beautiful baby
11:28Healthy, beautiful baby
11:30What is that going to be like for you?
11:32And are you going to try again afterwards?
11:35I think at our age and everything
11:41After going through this process
11:43The emotions behind it
11:45You know, the financial
11:47Challenges behind and everything
11:49This is what we want
11:51You know, we just want this one child
11:52And it'll, you know, complete our journey
11:56You know, just, you know, the missing piece
11:58And the puzzle, you know, in our relationship
12:01So I think, you know, once God bless us with this one
12:04Because I'm really believing that it's going to happen
12:06That I think we'll be, we'll be set
12:09You know, we'll be satisfied
12:10This will be what we really wanted
12:11I got you
12:13Well, my whole point is to make sure that we take you through
12:19Every possibility, right?
12:21And to help other people understand
12:24That the desire to have a baby
12:27Is to complete a family
12:29Even though not having a baby
12:31Doesn't mean you're not complete
12:35But what if it doesn't take this time?
12:38Are you going to go into surrogacy?
12:39Are you going to go into surrogacy?
12:42That's actually what we do it now
12:44It's actually my sister-in-law
12:46Which is my wife's sister
12:48Is actually a surrogate
12:50She the one who carried the other one for us
12:52And she's on board to do it again
12:54So that's exactly the way we do it
12:56Like do surrogacy
12:58That is beautiful
13:00I think that's wonderful
13:02Vanessa, you know, I know this is hard for you, girl
13:06I know it is
13:07But I want to encourage you
13:10You're perfect

13:16There is absolutely nothing wrong with you
13:18There's never been anything wrong with you
13:20There will never be anything wrong with you
13:22And just because your physical body
13:25Is not able to carry
13:27We can say, yet
13:29Because we don't know, right?

13:33Reginald, do we really know what the future brings?
13:34We never know
13:37We know that anything is possible with God
13:39So you never can say never
13:41Despite what the doctors may say
13:43Or what you may have heard
13:44God have the final say
13:46So anything can happen
13:48My mom was told that she could not have babies
13:50That she would not be able to hold a baby
13:53When she got pregnant with me
13:54They told her to abort me
13:56Because it would kill her
13:57And she says, well, I guess I'm going to heaven early
14:01Hmm
14:03You know, that was her thing
14:06She wanted me
14:08And she wanted me
14:10That was it
14:11And she suffered through the whole thing to get me
14:13Never give up
14:15Never give up
14:17This might not be, you know
14:18See, the body matures in different times too
14:22You know
14:24And so, Vanessa
14:25Your body may not be mature
14:27It may need a little bit extra development
14:30Before you can hold a baby
14:32I don't know
14:34You know
14:36But
14:37I'm telling you, you're perfect
14:39Okay?
14:41You're just fine the way you are
14:43And you have a beautiful husband that loves you
14:45You know, I have my husband that loves me
14:47He loves you
14:48I can see it in his eyes
14:50He loves you, okay?
14:52So, this is a beautiful thing
14:54And, you know
14:56Just because the last one didn't take
14:58This one should take very well
15:00Even if you have to sew up your sister
15:05I wanted to make it comical
15:07But, you know
15:09What kind of advice do you guys give
15:11To people who are going through the situation?
15:13Because this is not just a you situation
15:16I find that this is something
15:18That's been going on for a minute
15:20For a lot of people
15:24I would say don't go in it
15:26Expecting and having a plan
15:30Everything turns to different directions
15:34The timeframes are different
15:37That's when you get a bit frustrating
15:40When things don't happen the way that you've planned it in your head
15:45You just have to be open-minded to it
15:47Definitely stay positive always
15:50Take care of yourself
15:53And have that support
15:55And, of course, I've always turned to my husband
15:59To talk about whatever it is that I'm feeling at the time
16:02And that's always comforting
16:04Mm-hmm
16:06Reginald?
16:09Yeah, and that's the same thing I tell people as well
16:12That, you know, the road isn't going to be easy
16:15It's going to be a lot of ups and downs
16:17It's hard to really plan it
16:18Because you go in so many different directions
16:20You think one thing and then be another
16:22You get hit with this, you get hit with that
16:24It's all over the place
16:25So it's a lot of praying
16:27It's a lot of encouraging each other
16:29Definitely got to be strong
16:31Because it will bring you down to your knees
16:34If you're not strong enough
16:36Because it's a lot, you know, that goes on with this IVF journey
16:39Yeah, it does
16:41Especially since you guys have a surrogate
16:43So you have someone that's going to be
16:45And someone in the family, which is really good
16:46That's going to actually carry this baby all the way to term
16:50And that's what I believe
16:52Is there anything that we've missed today that you would like to say?
16:57Well, we actually
17:00Speaking on our journey
17:02We actually have a book that we're working on
17:04It should be coming out within the next couple of weeks
17:06That's my prayer because we really want to share this story
17:08And get it out to as many people as possible
17:11So we have a book that's going to be coming soon
17:13And we got some more collaborations and everything
17:16And, you know, we're really trying to get this story out there
17:18Because we didn't even know that it's so many people who
17:22Is in the same boat as us
17:24And we just want to be able to share our story with others
17:25And let them know that, hey, it may not have worked the first time
17:29But, you know, just, you know, don't give up
17:31And, you know, just keep the faith
17:33Yeah, definitely
17:35I commend you guys on writing this book

18:01There's so many issues that a lot of people go through
18:04That everybody feels like, you know, hey, nobody else is going through this situation
18:07But we are in our own way, you know, it's not the same exactly
18:12It could be very similar
18:14But we need help getting through certain situations
18:16So by writing this book, you guys are truly helping not only yourselves
18:20But other people
18:22And I commend you on that
18:24That is a hard decision to make
18:26To open up and just be open
