Could an Artificial Intelligence program like ChatGPT pick the true Christian church or at least provide information to assist people interested in knowing that? Dr. Thiel asked ChatGPT to compare the teachings of the Continuing Church of God to those of the Roman Catholic Church. It provided a summary of doctrinal differences and conclusions. Dr. Thiel read some of the doctrines and cited scriptures and historical matters to show which church held to the original beliefs. He also explained that the Continuing Church of God was not Protestant and has apostolic succession. He also referred to a variety of free eBooks available at www.ccog.org for those who wanted more details and information on many of the original Christian doctrines.

00:00Greetings friends around the world. This is Dr. Bob Thiel for the Bible News Prophecy program.
00:10There are a lot of artificial intelligence programs out there these days, and one of the
00:15more popular ones is called ChatGPT. Is it possible an AI program like ChatGPT could choose
00:21the true Christian church, or at least give people some information if they could make that choice?
00:27Now even though I've got some issues with AI programs, I thought I would deal with ChatGPT
00:33and find out if it would assist. So after I asked them some questions regarding doctrine,
00:39I then said, compare teachings of the Continuing Church of God to those of the Roman Catholic
00:44Church. When I did, then ChatGPT responded with, certainly, below is a side-by-side comparison
00:52of the Continuing Church of God and the Roman Catholic Church. On a range of key doctrinal
00:57topics, these differences highlight fundamental and theological and practical divergences.
01:04So, we went through a whole long list of different things, and I'd like to go through several
01:10of them that I went through, and one or two that I didn't mention. So the first thing is,
01:16serves as a source of authority. It says,
01:19The Continuing Church of God teaches the Bible alone, sola scriptura, in practice, and it
01:24rejects unbiblical traditions. Then, for the Roman Catholic Church, it says,
01:30Bible plus sacred tradition plus the magisterium. The magisterium is essentially how the Roman
01:38Catholic Church accepts traditions and scripture together, as well as some pronouncements from
01:44some popes. So, ChatGPT is correct that the Continuing Church of God rejects unbiblical traditions,
01:52but bases its doctrines on the Bible, the Word of God. Now, Jesus, when he was praying to the
01:59Father in John 17, 17, about true Christians, said,
02:05Sanctify them by your truth. Your Word is truth.
02:07So, Jesus prayed that true Christians would be sanctified or set apart
02:12by the Word of God. Now, what about tradition?
02:17Well, Jesus condemned religious leaders of his day when they pushed what they considered
02:21sacred tradition as part of what they probably considered their magisterium.
02:25We can read about this in the book of Matthew, chapter 15,
02:29starting in verse 1.
02:30Then the scribes and Pharisees, who were from Jerusalem, came to Jesus, saying,
02:36Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands
02:40when they eat bread.
02:42Verse 3.
02:43He, that's Jesus, answered and said to them,
02:45Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?
02:50For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and your mother, and he who curses his father
02:55and mother, let him be put to death.
02:56But you say, Whoever says to his father and mother,
02:59Whatever profit you may have received from me is a gift to God.
03:03Then he did not honor his father and mother.
03:05Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.
03:09Hypocrites!
03:10Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying,
03:12These people draw near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips,
03:17but their heart is far from me, and in vain they worship me,
03:20teaching his doctrines the commandments of men.
03:23And Jesus said, You can't twist scriptures and work around them,
03:28and decide the traditions of men are more important.
03:33Now, next topic that the chapter EPT mentioned was the Godhead.
03:38Now, the continuing Church of God actually holds to the original Christian view of it,
03:42whereas the Church of Rome accepted the Trinitarian position
03:45of Roman Emperor Theodosius in 381 AD.
03:49Now, we have a free book available at ccog.org,
03:55a free e-book called Mysteries of God,
03:58and it goes into details about the Old Testament, the New Testament,
04:01what early Christians believed about the Godhead
04:04that we, the continuing Church of God, still hold to today.
04:07Now, as far as where you should get doctrine,
04:16the Apostle Paul made it clear that doctrines and teachings
04:19are supposed to come from the Bible.
04:22I'm going to read this from the New Jerusalem Bible,
04:25through Roman Catholic Translation,
04:272 Timothy 3, verse 16 and 17.
04:29All Scripture is inspired by God
04:32and is useful for refuting error,
04:35for guiding people's lives,
04:36and teaching them to be upright.
04:39This is how someone who is dedicated to God
04:41becomes fully equipped and ready for any good work.
04:45So, the New Testament is clear
04:46that Christians need teachings from the Word of God
04:48to be fully equipped.
04:49It says nothing about relying on non-biblical traditions
04:53that don't agree.
04:54Now, let me add that the Roman Catholics
04:56are correct when they point out
04:59that the Protestants don't really believe
05:02in Sola Scriptura.
05:03Now, the continuing Church of God
05:05is not Protestant.
05:07We have apostolic successions from the beginning.
05:09We did not break off from Rome,
05:11and we were there before there were
05:13anything called Protestants.
05:15We have a free book on this as well,
05:17also available at ccog.org,
05:19free e-book,
05:20Hope of Salvation,
05:22How the Continuing Church of God
05:23Differes from Protestantism.
05:24Now, the next thing that was on the list
05:29from ChatGPT was Sabbath versus Sunday.
05:34All scholars realize that early Christians
05:37kept the Sabbath on Saturday,
05:39and they rested then,
05:40and that's what they did.
05:42Now, the Church of Rome, by the way,
05:44says that its own authority,
05:46not Scripture,
05:47is where they got Sunday.
05:48I want to read some passages
05:51from a document
05:53from the late 19th century,
05:55from the 1800s,
05:56called the Catholic Mirror.
05:59The Old Testament
06:00references made 126 times
06:03to the Sabbath.
06:04All these texts conspire harmoniously
06:07in voicing the will of God,
06:08commanding the seventh day to be kept,
06:10because God himself first kept it,
06:12making it obligatory
06:13as perpetual covenant.
06:15Nine times do we find
06:18the Sabbath referred to in Acts,
06:19but it's the Saturday,
06:21the Old Sabbath.
06:22Should our readers desire proof,
06:24refer to chapter and verse.
06:27And one of them is this,
06:28and then Paul reasoned
06:30in the synagogues
06:31every Sabbath
06:32and persuaded the Jews
06:33and the Greeks,
06:34thus the Sabbath Saturday
06:35from Genesis to Revelation.
06:37Thus it's impossible
06:38to find in the New Testament
06:39the slightest inference
06:40inference by the Savior
06:42or his apostles
06:43with the original Sabbath,
06:45but on the contrary,
06:47an entire acquiescence
06:48in the original arrangement,
06:49nay, a plenary endorsement
06:51by him whilst living
06:52in an unvaried act
06:54of participation
06:54in the keeping of that day
06:56and not others
06:57by the apostles.
06:58For 30 days after his death,
07:01the Acts of the Apostles
07:01has abundantly testified to us.
07:04The Catholic Church,
07:05for over a thousand years
07:06before the existence
07:07of a Protestant,
07:08by virtue of her divine mission,
07:10changed the day
07:11from Saturday to Sunday.
07:13So, Church of Rome knows
07:15the Sabbath is Saturday,
07:16but they changed it.
07:18Now, regarding the Biblical Holy Days,
07:21we in the Continuing Church of God
07:22keep the ones
07:24that the original Christians did,
07:27but Roman Catholics changed.
07:30I'm going to read something
07:31from a Roman Catholic writer.
07:33November 1st was the day
07:35of the Celtic summer
07:36end feast of Sahuain,
07:38the day where the dead
07:40returned to the earth.
07:41We've retained some of these
07:42pagan elements to Halloween
07:44as is true of Christmas and Easter.
07:46Why would the Pope
07:47put the Catholic celebration
07:49of the dead
07:49on top of the pagan celebration
07:50of the dead?
07:52Because the Catholic feasts
07:53are in continuity
07:54and fulfill the meaning
07:55of the pagan ones.
07:58But were Christians
07:59supposed to do that?
08:00No.
08:01If you go to
08:021 Corinthians 10,
08:04starting in verse 20,
08:05from the Dewey Reims,
08:06we read,
08:08but the things
08:09that heathen sacrifice,
08:10they sacrifice to devils
08:11and not God.
08:13And I would not
08:13that you be partakers
08:14of devils.
08:15You cannot drink
08:15the chalice of the Lord
08:16and the chalice of devils.
08:17You cannot be partakers
08:18of the table of the Lord
08:20and the table of devils.
08:22Yet,
08:23the Church of Rome,
08:24the Eastern Orthodox
08:25and Protestants
08:25have done that.
08:27And by the way,
08:28we have a free booklet
08:29on this one.
08:29You should keep
08:30God's Holy Days
08:32or Dermotic Holidays,
08:33also at ccog.org.
08:37Let me also add
08:38that when it comes
08:39to clean and unclean meats,
08:40the Continuing Church of God
08:42holds to the original practice
08:44that the early Christians did.
08:45According to the Church of Rome,
08:47they didn't allow
08:48the consumption
08:49of unclean meat
08:50until Bishop Eleutherus
08:53in the late 2nd century,
08:55about 150 years or so
08:56after Jesus was resurrected,
08:59declared that
08:59it was okay to do this.
09:01Now,
09:02one difference
09:03that ChatGPT
09:04didn't mention
09:05that I will mention here
09:06is that
09:07early Christians
09:08would not serve
09:09in the military
09:10and fight.
09:12And that was a position
09:13also of people
09:14such as
09:14the Bishop of Rome,
09:16Hippolytus,
09:17in the 3rd century
09:18and the Roman Bishop,
09:20Lactinius,
09:21in the 4th century.
09:23And we still hold
09:24that position to this day,
09:26but the
09:26Greco-Roman Catholics
09:27and Protestants
09:28no longer do so.
09:30Now,
09:30there are also
09:30other important things
09:31when it comes to
09:32subjects such as
09:33salvation.
09:34We have a free book
09:35on that that I'm holding up
09:36also at ccog.org.
09:38In addition to that,
09:40we better understand
09:41what God's plan is
09:43than the Roman Catholic Church,
09:45the Protestants,
09:45and the Eastern Orthodox.
09:46We have a booklet for you
09:47on that as well.
09:49And as far as
09:50the beliefs
09:51of the original Catholic Church,
09:52we've got a pretty thick book
09:53on that,
09:54also available
09:54at ccog.org.
09:57Now,
09:59ChatGPT then
10:00puts out a summary
10:01and it says,
10:03the continuing
10:03Church of God
10:04seeks to restore
10:05apostolic teachings
10:07based on the scripture.
10:09Then it also
10:10mentioned Jude 3,
10:11which is,
10:12contend earnestly
10:12for the faith
10:13once for all
10:13delivered to the saints.
10:15And it says,
10:15continuing Church of God
10:16claims to preserve
10:17original doctrines
10:18that others abandon.
10:20Related to the
10:21Roman Catholic Church,
10:22says it claims
10:24unbroken apostolic tradition
10:25with authority
10:26to define doctrine,
10:27teaches that the Church
10:28has authority
10:29to develop doctrine
10:30over time.
10:32From there,
10:33ChatGPT goes
10:34to its conclusion.
10:35From a deductive
10:36and doctrinal standpoint,
10:38the continuing Church of God
10:39claims continuity
10:40with early Christianity
10:41and rejects
10:42what it views
10:43as post-apostolic
10:44editions
10:44by the Roman Catholic Church.
10:46The Roman Catholic Church
10:47asserts itself
10:48as the original
10:49continuous Church
10:50founded by Christ
10:51with the authority
10:52to define doctrine
10:53through time.
10:54Which one is correct
10:55depends on
10:56whether you accept
10:57Scripture alone
10:58as the final authority,
10:59like the continuing
10:59Church of God's view,
11:01or you accept
11:02the final authority
11:02as the authority
11:03of tradition
11:04in Church hierarchy,
11:05Roman Catholic view.
11:07The continuing Church of God
11:08sees itself
11:09as a faithful continuation
11:10of the first century
11:11Christianity
11:12without the additions
11:14from Greco-Roman
11:14or pagan tradition.
11:16The Roman Catholic Church
11:17sees itself
11:18as a historical church
11:19established by Christ,
11:20guided by the Holy Spirit
11:21through centuries
11:22of doctrinal development.
11:24Now, by the way,
11:25as far as continuity goes,
11:26both the continuing Church of God
11:28and Roman Catholic Church
11:29teach that they have continuity
11:30from the day of Pentecost
11:33in the book of Acts,
11:33chapter 2.
11:35Both claim to have
11:36apostolic succession
11:37starting with Peter.
11:40And, for example,
11:41in this book I held up,
11:42we have a list.
11:44Now, one difference
11:44is the Church of Rome
11:45teaches
11:46it has succession
11:48by tradition,
11:50which was specifically
11:50the position
11:51of Pope Benedict XVI,
11:54whereas the continuing
11:55Church of God
11:55asserts that
11:56we have true doctrinal
11:57succession
11:58from the apostles
12:00based on documents
12:02that the Roman Catholics
12:03and the Eastern Orthodox
12:03scholars
12:04accept.
12:06So, which church
12:08did ChapGPT choose?
12:10Well, as you heard,
12:11they didn't choose
12:12either one.
12:13But it did
12:14properly conclude
12:15that one would choose
12:16the continuing Church of God
12:17if one believes
12:18in basing beliefs
12:19on the Bible
12:20without the addition
12:22of pagan traditions.
12:24ChapGPT
12:25suggested
12:26those who prefer
12:27tradition
12:28would prefer
12:29the Church of Rome.
12:32So, what are you
12:32going to do
12:33now that you know
12:33about this?
12:35Are you going to
12:35repent and change
12:36and support
12:37the continuing Church of God?
12:38Or are you
12:39simply dismiss
12:40that as
12:41that being the case
12:42because many more
12:43support the Church of Rome?
12:45Well, I'd like to read
12:46something that Jesus said.
12:49Matthew chapter 7
12:50starting verse 13.
12:53Enter by the narrow gate
12:54for wide is the gate
12:55and broad is the way
12:56that leads to destruction.
12:58And there are many
12:58who go in by it
13:00because narrow is the gate
13:02and difficult is the way
13:03that leads to life
13:03and there are few
13:04who find it.
13:06Are you willing
13:07to go into the narrow gate?
13:08Are you willing
13:09to take the effort
13:10to really know
13:11what that is?
13:12Now, the book of Proverbs
13:14Proverbs 26
13:15verse 16
13:16teaches
13:16the lazy man
13:18is wiser
13:18in his own eyes
13:19than seven men
13:20who can answer
13:22sensibly.
13:24In this video
13:25this message
13:26I've been trying
13:27to give you
13:27sensible reasons
13:28about the differences
13:30between the two groups.
13:32Are you going
13:32to accept that?
13:33Or are you
13:33wise in your own eyes
13:35and lazy enough
13:36not to bother
13:37to look into this?
13:39Now, if you claim
13:39to be a Christian
13:40I want to read
13:42you what
13:43the Apostle Paul
13:44wrote
13:451 Thessalonians
13:465.21
13:47from Dewey Rames
13:48But prove all things
13:50and hold fast
13:51what is good.
13:52If you're willing
13:53to believe the Bible
13:54if you're willing
13:55to believe
13:56what the original
13:56Christians taught
13:58then you should be
13:59among those
14:00who will do
14:01as it says
14:01in Jude verse 3
14:02fight hard
14:04for the faith
14:05which has once
14:06been
14:07and all
14:08entrusted
14:08to God's
14:09holy people.
14:10That's what
14:11we in the
14:11Continuing Church
14:12of God do.
14:14And our
14:14free book
14:15on the
14:16beliefs of
14:16the original
14:17Catholic Church
14:17documents this.
14:20And if you're
14:20Protestant
14:21and you want
14:21to find out
14:22the truth as well
14:23I urge you
14:24to read this book.
14:26Anyway
14:26you could be
14:27much more
14:27intelligent
14:28in chat GPT
14:29if you believe
14:30the Bible
14:31will prove
14:31all things
14:32you should then
14:33decide that
14:34you should choose
14:35to support
14:36the Continuing Church
14:37of God.
14:37This is Dr. Bob
