Abraham’s grandson, Israel had 12 sons. The modern nation of Israel is comprised of only two of those sons – Judah and Benjamin. Many of the children of Levi are also included in that mix, but Levi is no longer included as one of the sons of Israel, as Levi became God’s inheritance.
So what happened to the other ten sons, or tribes, of Abraham’s grandson? Are they lost? Many think so.
Would it be possible to trace the migration of the other ten sons of Israel to know where they went?
What about prophecy? Is there anything in the Bible that might indicate who the modern tribes of Israel are based on the fulfillment of prophecy?
Interestingly, the Jewish Encyclopedia (which is a publication of the tribe of Judah) has a listing claiming the identity of the “Lost Ten Tribes”, known as the “diaspora” in the Bible, can’t be known today. And yet, they quote the prophecies that identify at least some of those tribes and then continue to name the nations that fulfilled those prophecies! Thus, identifying the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel!
There are also many prophecies concerning all the tribes of Israel and the promises God made to them. Prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled. Is it possible that God knows where they are?
If you knew the nations that the sons of Israel became, would you be better able to understand the Bible? Or would not knowing be a better alternative?
Watch this video as Dr. Thiel shines the light of Biblical truth on the identity and location of some of the sons of Israel. Spoiler Alert - the “Lost Ten Tribes of Israel” aren’t lost at all.

00:04Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuy for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:09bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy.
00:13Dr. Thiel, who are the ten lost tribes people often talk or argue about?
00:20Basically, these are descendants of Abraham's grandson, who God named Israel.
00:27Israel had 12 kids, and some of them became lost in history, supposedly.
00:34Now, one reason we want to talk about this today is Israel 365 News posted that in recent decades,
00:40there have been Jews coming to the land of Israel.
00:43It thinks it fulfills ancient prophecies, and various ones who've come are straightforward.
00:49They continue to have Jewish practices.
00:53But, the article says, there are those who claim descent from the ten lost tribes.
01:01These are people who think they descended from the ten northern tribes of Israel,
01:05which were exiled by Assyria in 722 BCE, and ended up being assimilated among the nations.
01:13Biblical prophecies repeatedly assure the restoration of these scattered remnants
01:18in their reunion with Judah, end quote.
01:21So, the ten lost tribes controversy actually stems from an event that happened some 700 years
01:29before the birth of Jesus Christ.
01:32Yeah, basically.
01:34It would be on that, though, to some degree.
01:36Now, the article talks about that, you know, people look at genetics,
01:39and sometimes that seems to point to it.
01:42Sometimes it doesn't.
01:44But they say that doesn't matter.
01:47The key to whether or not one is a Jew is whether or not they do what the Bible says.
01:52It says in Deuteronomy chapter 31 through 10.
01:55And if they don't do this, that's scientific proof that it doesn't matter what they claim to be.
02:03It's a transformative act of being a Jew expressed through the complete alignment with the Sinai covenant, end quote.
02:13So, what is he trying to say?
02:15He said to determine to be a Jew isn't whether you are physically one, but if you practice the religion.
02:20Okay.
02:21And to be a Jew spiritually is not a matter of descent.
02:26The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans chapter 2, verse 28,
02:33For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor a circumcision outward in the flesh.
02:38But he is a Jew who is one inwardly in circumcision of the heart, in the spirit, not of the
02:42letter.
02:44But there's another determination of the identity of the lost tribes of Israel.
02:48And that's a matter of physical descent.
02:51The Bible points to promises that were made to each of the sons of Israel in Genesis chapter 48 and
02:5949.
03:01And while humans can argue about who's a Jew and who's not a Jew, God knows.
03:06Now, we have a free online book called The Lost Tribes and Prophecies.
03:14And it's a free book at ccog.org.
03:17And in it, I'm going to read from it.
03:21It says, God knows whose people are.
03:25It says, some have pointed various scriptures about them being scattered, proof that,
03:30identity of these tribes is not possible.
03:32God says he's going to gather the nations.
03:35And in Ezekiel 34, the book quotes this, it says,
03:40So thus says the Lord God,
03:41Indeed, I myself will search out for my sheep and seek them out.
03:45As a shepherd seeks out the flock on the day he's among his scattered sheep,
03:48so I'll seek my sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a dark and
03:56cloudy day.
03:58So thus, God will know where they are.
04:01It doesn't matter what human beings say.
04:05Now, also in the book, I quote something called Second Esdras.
04:10This is an apocryphal Hebrew writing about 2,000 years ago.
04:14And it says that the 10 tribes were scattered away.
04:20And then they went even further from where Assyria led them captive.
04:25And in the Middle Ages, a rabbi mentioned that they found them in places, by the way, such as Crimea.
04:33And furthermore, they also found some of these tribe people in some of the Arabic lands.
04:40So regarding some in Arabia, the guy by the name of Benjamin of Tutala wrote,
04:47These tribesmen are of the tribe of Reuben and Gad and a half-tribe of Manasseh.
04:54End quote.
04:55So those are some things.
04:56Again, our free online book, e-book.
05:00Anyway, the tribes went to faraway lands, as far as certain historical accounts support.
05:06And most of their descendants did leave Persia and Arabia.
05:10That's how they got to Crimea and further away.
05:15But doesn't the Bible say the northern tribes went back to the tribes of Judah and Levi because of the
05:21holy days?
05:23Some have said that, and occasionally some did.
05:26But the fact is, most did not.
05:28And that's widely known by Jewish scholars.
05:32In 1918, Joseph Herman Pertz, who was the chief rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the British Empire, wrote,
05:43The people known as Jews are descendants of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, and a certain number of the
05:49tribe of Levi.
05:49As far as we know, there's no further admixture of any of the tribes.
05:54The ten tribes have been absorbed among the nations of the world.
05:58End quote.
05:59So, look, the Bible prophesied that the tribes would end up in many nations.
06:05The reality is that the bulk of those who descended from the lost tribes went away, but did not return
06:11to Judea, which is where the modern state of Israel is.
06:17But isn't DNA testing able to identify the location of the lost tribes?
06:22Not currently.
06:23Now, some say lack of DNA evidence disproves Israelite connections to many lands like in Europe.
06:30However, and I'm going to quote from a scientific source here, when dealing with European population paleogenetics, no one can
06:38evade the question of the limitations that are intrinsic to the field of DNA.
06:43The people of Europe by modern humans is a widely debated topic in the field of modern and ancient genomics.
06:52And scientific reality is there is a limit to the usefulness of DNA.
06:56There's dominant and recessive genes, mutations, interbreeding, and other factors that affect this.
07:04And a lot of scientists know this.
07:05Of course, now the science associated with DNA is changing.
07:08And in time, there might be more specific markers or sub-markers to be helpful.
07:14That said, much of the DNA in Europeans came from what's called the Fertile Crescent.
07:19And that includes the area called the Levant, which includes, let's say, Israel, Palestine, Syria, basically, parts of Iraq.
07:29And scientific research once confirmed, quote,
07:33a demic diffusion spanning the entire European continent up front of the Levant with differences between Eastern Europe and the
07:39West.
07:41A demic diffusion talks about populations spreading out.
07:49And there's another report that says the DNA is the haploid group H that's most frequent in Europe and one
07:56that's common in the Near East.
08:00MT DNA, lineages, cluster into distinct groups, cluster H, this cluster is most frequent in Europe and also common in
08:08the Near East.
08:09So that's consistent with what we've been saying.
08:13Now, some wonder about the Jews.
08:16Here's an interesting study.
08:19It says, in recent decades, ever-increasing events and ingenuity were invested in identifying biblical Israelite genotypes.
08:27It becomes overwhelmingly clear that although the Jews maintain detectable vertical genetic continuity,
08:36there is no Jewish genotype to identify.
08:41And another study said that related to demographic history, large surveys of MT DNA variation in Europe have thus far
08:50failed to reveal any such patterns.
08:52So there is some issues going on.
08:56And look, Scientific America said genetics is a probabilistic science.
09:01There's no genes for anything in particular.
09:04When it comes to DNA ancestry, it's good at determining family relations like brothers or sisters.
09:11But when it gets further and further and further, it doesn't really tell you where your ancestors came from.
09:19So scientists realized DNA isn't as reliable as an ethnic marker as many people believe.
09:25The reality of descent, not DNA, is consistent with assertions that we've made in the Continuum Church of God and
09:33in our book on the Lost Tribes of Israel.
09:38In 1916, a chief rabbi declared, the ten tribes have been absorbed among the nations of the world.
09:46What have other Jewish scholars said?
09:50So this one's kind of funny.
09:52Even though it doesn't accept what's called Anglo-Israelism, I want to read separate from the old Jewish encyclopedia of,
10:00I think, 1906.
10:02Here's what it says.
10:05Pay close attention to the wording here.
10:08The theory of Anglo-Israelism is based upon an extremely literal interpretation of the Old Testament.
10:15Oh, so they say, you can only believe it if you believe what the Bible says.
10:19I mean, that's what that starts off with.
10:22And by an application of text brought together from prophecies about Israel.
10:26Right.
10:27We believe what the Bible says.
10:28There are prophecies about what's going to happen to these lost tribes.
10:33It's pointed out that while in prophecies, Israel will change its name, be numberless, dwell in islands with colonies, and
10:41be chief among the nations.
10:42Sounds like the British Empire of the United States, amongst other things.
10:49And the isles that they were banished to were to the north and the west, to Palestine, like the British
10:53Isles.
10:55And it's further prophesied that the isles would become, that Israel would become a nation, a company of nations.
11:01I mentioned British Commonwealth.
11:02Well, it might surround the nations and be above all.
11:07The Anglo-Israelites triumphantly asked, what nation other than England corresponds with these prophetic signs?
11:16Of course, the United States.
11:19And further confirmations pointed out that one of the tribes of Manasseh, the tribes of Manasseh, was to become an
11:25independent nation.
11:26The United States obviously represents Manasseh.
11:30Both Ephraim and Manasseh, the people pushed together, the countries to which they spread.
11:35Again, I'm reading from Jewish Encyclopedia, who does not believe in this.
11:39This is what they admit.
11:42And by the way, if any of you ever use AI, they're going to tell you, consensus of scholars, this
11:46is nonsense.
11:47Well, I don't care if the consensus of scholars, the facts of reality is God made promises, and you believe
11:53the Bible are going to happen.
11:54But anyway, getting back to the Jewish Encyclopedia, it says,
12:00The promise that Israel shall possess the gates of its enemies is taken to be fulfilled in possession by England
12:08of Gibraltar, Malta, Aden, and Singapore.
12:12Finally, it was prophesied that Israel should bear another name and speak another tongue in the book of Isaiah.
12:17All these characteristics of Israel, as distinguished from Judah, are fulfilled, it is contended, in England, its colonies, and the
12:27United States.
12:28End quote.
12:29So the Jewish Encyclopedia did a really good job of saying, the consensus of our scholars is this is all
12:36nonsense.
12:37But only if you believe the Bible, only if you believe its prophecies, and only if you look at reality,
12:43okay?
12:44Because what other, when God had Israel make promises to his descendants, which are recorded in the 48th and 49th
12:53chapter of the Bible, of Genesis in the Bible, those were not fulfilled by ancient Israel.
12:59And people know that.
13:01And so if you actually believe the Bible, you say, well, it's got to be fulfilled somewhere.
13:07Two of the tribes are Ephraim and Manasseh, which Ephraim represents the British descent of nations, and Manasseh, the United
13:15States.
13:16So those of us who believe biblical prophecies will literally come to pass.
13:22Obviously, we accept a proper understanding of Anglo-Israelism.
13:27But again, we agree with Israel on 365 when it says, the Jew is not one who just might happen
13:36to have it ethnically, but one who's practicing.
13:41The same thing is for a Christian.
13:43Just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't mean that they are one.
13:46But as far as the location of the lost tribes, we think we know where they are.
13:50They're all identified in this particular book, by the way, the book on ccg.org.
13:57And the reality is respected Jewish scholars basically admitted that we're right about this stuff.
14:01Hopefully, those of you who are listening will believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and the prophecies
14:06are going to come to pass.
14:07Again, more about this can be found in our free book, Lost Tribes and Prophecies,
14:12what will happen to Australia, British Isles, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and the United States of America.
