Tobin and Leroy try to clear up their confusion and discuss Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders who had a mime session with the media.
Transcript
00:00You saw Shador Sanders yesterday with his little mime session with the media?
00:06Yeah.
00:06You know what?
00:11I don't really make anything of it.
00:17I think because he's such a polarizing player that people are reading into every single thing that he does or every single comment that comes out from the Browns camp about him.
00:33And at that position, I would say this.
00:38There's a look that you need to have so that the people that are going to play you are comfortable with putting you in at that position.
00:49Well, I think I'm confused about that gets a little lost when everybody that they picked has sucked before you.
00:55That's true.
00:56So like you like, wait a minute.
00:58Y'all telling me about, you know, and I think about is I'm just thinking about a regular person.
01:03I'm like, wait a minute, y'all telling me about what's required to have this job with who you put in there?
01:11Well, I think the thing that's interesting is like, all right, so obviously something squirrely happened with Shador Sanders and his draft were like even reportedly teams that wanted to draft him.
01:21He had no interest to if there was no chance that he could start, which, by the way, if he was on the Ravens right now, he'd be starting probably.
01:27Um, so like there is a little, there is accountability that he has to take for being in the position that he's in.
01:34But I have this weird thing.
01:36Like I'm watching coverage of this yesterday and I'm very confused why people are in arms that he's still number three on the depth chart.
01:45Like who cares if he's not playing, he's not playing.
01:49Like, I don't understand why everybody's in this situation where like, I can't believe that he didn't move up the depth chart.
01:55It's like he was not the backup.
01:57He was the emergency third quarterback to begin with.
02:00They went with Dylan Gabriel, who, by the way, the Browns have told you the entire time that they, whether they're right or wrong, they like Dylan Gabriel more than Shador Sanders.
02:10This has not been a mystery.
02:12The only time we saw was Shador bowling out in the first preseason game, which he did.
02:17But the entire time that this has happened, they've told you, we like Dylan Gabriel as a prospect more than Shador Sanders.
02:23And now it's like, well, now he's not the backup quarterback.
02:26It's like, who cares?
02:27Right.
02:28I think, and here's the other thing, is that the people outside of the facility are making a bigger deal about it and then bringing it to Shador, right?
02:45And bringing it to Shador like he's supposed to have the same problem that they are having about that situation.
02:52But to go to a guy and say, why don't you have a problem with not being number two?
03:01I mean, if I were them, I would be like, listen, I got more of a problem with not being number one.
03:06I don't care if I'm two or three.
03:08I need to bust my butt to get to number one.
03:11Why does he even like, like, it's, I guess you got to talk to whoever asked to talk to you.
03:15But like, why do, like, what do they go to him for?
03:18Because they want, again, he's the third quarterback.
03:20Like, I haven't heard Quinn Ewers say a thing all here.
03:23Like, nobody goes to Quinn Ewers and is like, Quinn, what do you think about not playing this year?
03:27You know why?
03:30Because they want something.
03:34Right.
03:35Exactly.
03:35Or, or, or, or, to, like, to have a third string quarterback for whatever reason.
03:45He's listed as third string quarterback.
03:47To be surrounded by reporters like that.
03:50Is, that in itself is telling you all you need to know.
03:56They looking for something.
03:58They trying to get something.
04:00Leroy, it's happened before with Tebow.
04:01But the difference with, with, with Tebow is, it's almost like they pressured the organization to get, to get him in the game.
04:15I remember Tebow getting, like, intro press conferences, which was weird for a third string.
04:20But I don't remember him continually during the weeks, Vlad, when the, when it was, when the writing was on the wall.
04:25I don't recall Tebow doing, like, weekly pressers.
04:29Nah, New York media was, you know.
04:31They would talk to him as if he was, like, the starting quarterback, which was great.
04:34I don't recall that.
04:35Maybe.
04:35I mean, I'm not going to, I'm not going to say that you're wrong on that.
04:37I just don't recall it.
04:39Like, I feel like it's weird that they go to Shador every week.
04:41It's like, Shador, you're the third string quarterback.
04:44Shador, you're still the third string quarterback.
04:46And then, like, now he's got to, like, make bits out of it.
04:49And I'm like, why are they even talking?
04:51Like, he didn't, if he would have moved up to number two, okay, I would have seen there's a point.
04:55Hey, you're a snap away from being the quarterback.
04:57But it's weird that it's a hate.
04:59Which is also awkward.
05:00It's awkward to, like, because you have to understand that people you're in the room with, like, even though you're competing for a job, there's no ill will towards anybody that's in that room.
05:11Y'all going through it together.
05:13Right?
05:13Like, and sometimes when you have to answer questions, it's almost like you got to do it at the detriment of a guy that you consider a friend or, you know what I mean?
05:26It's an awkward situation that, you know, they, like, just to put what is, there is absolutely nothing in that situation that he could say that is gonna have people.
05:43Saying, you know what?
05:44He handled that well.
05:46Right?
05:46Because.
05:47I don't agree with that.
05:48I don't think there's not, I don't think there's nothing he can say that to handle it well.
05:52I mean, like.
05:53Whatever you come up with that Shadour should have said, I can be a reporter.
05:58And.
05:59I'm sure there could be jerks.
06:00But I think there's, like, I say this with Tua last week.
06:03Like, there's always ways that you could put out the fire if you want to.
06:06You can make it.
06:07You can make it cliche.
06:08Like, Tua has done the thing the last couple of weeks where he's gone to the podiums and he's had press conference.
06:14And it's like, starts well, but man, you really are, that's gonna be more of a thing than it probably should have been.
06:21Right.
06:21No, I get you.
06:23And I understand it.
06:26And I think that Shadour's way of handling it and being cool with it and not making a stink with it is smiling.
06:37Right?
06:38Like, he doesn't get angry at them.
06:41He doesn't.
06:42He just does his own little thing and smile or whatever.
06:44And, and from that standpoint, you know, now we're looking at, I mean, he's, he's a third string quarterback, dude.
06:52The fact that, like.
06:55Well, like, why is it a thing that he's even.
06:57Because.
06:57No, he's the thing.
06:58Like, we should have known.
06:59Because guess what?
07:00If he moved up.
07:01If he, you know what's funny about it?
07:03If he would have been moved up to the starting quarterback and Dylan Gabriel would have been a third quarterback, they wouldn't have went to Dylan Gabriel.
07:09No way, dude.
07:10No shot.
07:11So, is that the problem in itself?
07:13Uh, yeah, I guess.
07:15So, like.
07:16You know, I agree with you.
07:17People want the story, but I don't understand, like.
07:20Why?
07:21Why people are surprised it's a story.
07:23Like, he's been the third string quarterback literally since he's walked in the door.
07:27The only person that he, he ousted was Kenny Pickett.
07:30Everybody else.
07:32They've been ahead of him.
07:33And everybody's just like, and I don't understand when this has been the thing.
07:38And then Dylan Gabriel gets the start.
07:39People are like, why hasn't he moved up the depth chart?
07:42It's like, well, because.
07:43They don't, they, they don't think he's their backup quarterback.
07:45Right.
07:47And who cares?
07:48Like.
07:48We all, we all knew one thing though.
07:50Or at least I did.
07:52The Joe Flacco era was going to come and go.
07:55Of course.
07:57I think Joe Flacco is going to pull his Avian Howard and be like, I just want to be with
08:00my kids.
08:02Nah.
08:03Nah.
08:03I think.
08:04You know what?
08:04He wants to be away from his kids.
08:05The thing about Joe Flacco is, is that he's a genuine good dude.
08:10Right.
08:11Like, so even though the disappointment of it all, he's going to handle it accordingly.
08:16Right.
08:17He's been around the league a long time.
08:19Right.
08:20He understands all that stuff.
08:22Like, and so, like, yeah, man, it's almost like even when he's thrown the football, like
08:30those first couple of games, the ball got zipped and then is, it doesn't.
08:36It's amazing he squeezed two more years out of it, to be honest with you.
08:39I thought after the Jets, he was done.
08:42Like, his kid was wearing Tyreek Hill jerseys to the game.
08:45Right.
08:46Remember that game against Skylar Thompson?
08:48The Dolphins won, like, was it 6-3 or 9-6?
08:51The 9-6 game.
08:52Yeah, it was a terrible game.
08:53And Joe Flacco, I was like, oh, Joe Flacco's never playing quarterback again.
08:56The game that you guys got into the playoffs.
08:58Oh, my God.
08:59But it's crazy because he looks so good when he looks good, and then he looks 40, like,
09:09within five days later.
09:11Right?
09:11Yep.
09:12And that's the thing, the age thing.
09:15And it's all fine.
09:16It's all great, even though Pittsburgh getting ready to win the division.
09:21That's the crazy thing right there.
09:24Look, if somebody's so upset right now.
09:27Oh, man.
09:28I'm not upset.
09:28I'm not upset at all.
09:30You got to be.
09:31Let me tell you something.
09:32Aaron Rodgers is now going to win the market right to the point.
09:34Let me tell you something.
09:36All the stars aligned for this to happen.
09:40Maybe it's just fate.
09:42But I'm going to tell you like this.
09:44Before the season started, with everybody healthy, ain't nobody ever think this was possible.
09:50And I'm just telling you, this is why you play the season.
09:53This is why you play the games, because you never know.
09:56And right now, they're in the driver's seat because, one, they're the healthiest team in the division.
10:02The oldest team.
10:04And the oldest.
10:05So, yeah, it might come.
10:06Listen, it might, you know, they might have some sore hammies in November.
10:10Like, I can't dismiss it.
10:13Oh, they definitely will.
10:15Because, you know, they're bye weeks this week.
10:18So, they got, what, 12 weeks?
10:20They got 12.
10:22No.
10:23Yeah, this week, yeah.
10:24They're going to have 12 weeks.
10:26Unless they wrap it up early.
10:27No, they're going to have 13.
10:31Because they play four games.
10:32Well, this is week five.
10:33Oh, that's right.
10:34But they got a bye week.
10:35You're right.
10:36They're going to play 13 straight games.
10:39I hate the 17th game.
10:41Hey, by the way, yesterday, when I was talking about two bye weeks, I was thinking of Miami.
10:46Miami Hurricanes.
10:47Yeah.
10:48Miami plays Florida State.
10:49Was it the time you went to two bye weeks?
10:50Miami plays Florida State, and then they got another bye week, right?
10:54Yes.
10:55Great scheduling by Mario.
10:56No, seriously.
10:59But they don't schedule the ACC games.
11:05I mean, whoever did the schedule, great.
11:07Because you set yourself, you get yourself ready after a rivalry game with Florida.
11:12You get a bye week.
11:12Then you go to Tallahassee.
11:14And then after the motions of beating your other in-state rival, you get a week off.
11:18And then you got Friday night at the Rock against Louisville.
11:22I think that's great, great, great planning.
11:24Well, we'll take a break.
11:26Speaking of the Canes, some high praises coming out for some of their top players.
11:30We'll get to that coming on up.
11:31Back with more to this.

19:12Days in Florida start off like you're at a strip club.
19:15What?
19:16Real nice.
19:18Parade all the ladies.
19:20It's girls, girls, girls.
19:23It's all nice outside.
19:26It's all nice.
19:27What?
19:28What strip club you're at?
19:29I ain't been to a strip club in so long, dude.
19:31I know you're saying girls, girls, girls.
19:34Now, you're right.
19:36That's the song where all the ladies come out.
19:38I'm just saying, Leroy must be in an intangibles club.
19:42Oh, no.
19:42Oh, no.
19:46Hey, so anyway, it's a beautiful day.
19:50Let me just say that.
19:53I'm looking up.
19:56Partly cloudy.
19:58Slight breeze coming out of the north, the northeast.
20:02At about five to ten miles an hour.
20:05Not as humid today.
20:08But here's where that reality kicks in.
20:11Because this evening, like all evenings this time of year, it's going to pour.
20:17It could be tornadic.
20:18It could be tornadic.
20:20And you guys need to be careful and take care.
20:23Everglades.
20:24Woo.
20:25Out west.
20:26You know, so that is the thing.
20:29And I don't know why this is.
20:32But if you want to get something done outdoors, do it before like 12 or 1 o'clock.
20:35But it was, I was checking this out, Leroy.
20:39I was perusing around the old internet.
20:42And some people have mock drafts out already, which is funsies.
20:47So I was at Yahoo Sports.
20:49They have their mock draft for the first few games here of the college season, NFL season.
20:57So let's see where everybody's at.
20:59And I was like, I open up.
21:02I'm like, all right, let's see what they got over here.
21:04I wasn't even going for anything in particular.
21:08I was actually kind of curious.
21:09I was kind of curious where Carson Beck was in their thing.
21:13And I actually get to number one.
21:16And Ruben Bain.
21:17They have the New Orleans Saints taking Ruben Bain.
21:21Ruben Bain Jr.
21:22Number one overall, which, man, I mean, he's been awesome this year.
21:26There's no doubt about it.
21:28But it's been, it's pretty, it's pretty incredible.
21:31The early buzz is already talking like this dude, number one player in the NFL draft, which, man, what a, what a, what a strong feather in the cap that would be to the Canes if they got two number one picks overall.
21:45And then the last team to do that was USC?
21:49I don't know.
21:50Not sure.
21:51I would, I would think.
21:52I'm not sure the last team to do it, but I was like, no, you know, what is back-to-back Heismans?
22:00I don't know if they both went one.
22:02Pretty crazy.
22:03Oklahoma did that.
22:04What?
22:06Kyler and Baker.
22:07Yeah.
22:08Oh, they went, they went.
22:09Yeah.
22:09And that would be more recent anyway.
22:11But, uh, yeah, they said, uh, this is from the author, Charles McDonald and Nate Tice.
22:19They say, uh, Ruben Bain started his college career strongly as a freshman for an early calf injury led to an up and down sophomore campaign.
22:25Started number 17 on the preseason big board.
22:29He has done nothing but launch up the rankings to the top spot of this mock draft.
22:33And Bain's build and power reminds us of Brandon Graham.
22:38Uh, he can align and affect the game across the defensive line.
22:41He plays with a great motor.
22:42Light on his feet.
22:44Man.
22:45He is.
22:46He is.
22:46He is.
22:46He is.
22:46He is.
22:46The best player in the country this season.
22:48I think would have given him.
22:50Huh?
22:51Oklahoma was also the last school to have back-to-back number ones.
22:54Baker and Kyler.
22:55Yeah.
22:55There you go.
22:56So, I would, I would say this.
22:59The thing that separates him from any other player at his position is not only his athletic ability, but the fact that that guy has a motor on him.
23:12He's caught interceptions because of tip balls because he was hustling.
23:16He's chased down running backs, chased down quarterbacks.
23:19He's all over the field.
23:21And when you see that energy, when you see a guy playing with that level of intensity and, and motor, um, that's an instant game changer, an instant game changer.
23:36For your information, Vlad, they have, uh, the Jets taking Fernando Mendoza from Indiana, Miami kid, uh, with, with the number two pick.
23:45Another quarterback, huh?
23:48Another quarterback.
23:49Wait, where is, like, I'm just curious.
23:51Um, I mean, he can throw the, he can throw the ball now, but I'm curious what they think of is, um, who's the Castellano?
24:00Is he too young?
24:02No, he might be just a little small.
24:04Oh, is he small?
24:05Yeah.
24:06Oh, yeah.
24:07And nothing helps your cause than getting a couple of balls batted down in a football game, right?
24:11Yeah.
24:13They have, uh, the Dolphins.
24:16This is so sad.
24:17The Dolphins at number five, taking Dante Moore, quarterback from Oregon.
24:24Isn't he a little tic-tac-toe?
24:28Uh.
24:31No, he's 6'3".
24:32You're not at that level yet.
24:36Well, the Jets maybe one more week, but you guys actually won.
24:39You're not at that.
24:40You're not at that.
24:41You're looking at, you're starting to look at college football games like, hmm, let me start looking at these games.
24:47No, I'm not.
24:47I never do it.
24:48You're not at that point yet.
24:49I never do it.
24:50Jets fans, we know about that.
24:52That's in another two weeks.
24:53Once Columbus Day weekend comes and passes, that's when we're looking at all the college games and looking for possible draft prospects.
25:01But you guys aren't there yet.
25:04Soon, though.
25:05But not there yet.
25:06Listen, Vlad, I know that.
25:08First of all, let's be clear.
25:11What?
25:11I know everybody's going to be upset if the Dolphins do end up with the number fifth pick, number five pick.
25:21They will trade that pick for additional picks and ride to it for another year because of the money next year's guarantee.
25:30And, like, don't be upset.
25:32It is the right thing to do.
25:34You need to fill a bunch of spots.
25:37Don't double up on quarterback and not be able to afford other positions.
25:42That's all I'm saying.
25:44They just for to finish up the local ties on this mock draft that Yahoo put out, Francis Maui Noah goes 19 to the Bengals.
25:53They need help.
25:54Yeah.
25:55I mean, I don't know.
25:56I don't know if Maui Noah is going to last that long, so we'll see.
26:00I will say this.
26:02Like, there's another situation.
26:04Right.
26:05You know exactly what's wrong with your team.
26:09And you didn't go all out to repair it.
26:12I don't care.
26:14Huh?
26:15They're cheap.
26:15It's like, come on, man.
26:17It's the Bengals.
26:18You know they're cheap.
26:18They could have.
26:19They could have.
26:19Listen.
26:22Let me ask.
26:22Ask Joe Burrow.
26:23Ask that offense.
26:25Would you rather give up T. Higgins and get two offense alignment?
26:29Or would you rather keep T. Higgins?
26:30Yeah, but we talked about this last year.
26:32You said no one's doing that.
26:33Like, we talked about that.
26:34I talked about that with Tyreek last year.
26:35There's no offensive lineman available.
26:36I get that.
26:37No one's trading that.
26:38Nobody's trading offensive lineman, which means that maybe you should have put, at some
26:42point, when you see how scarce they are, you should have probably put a little more
26:45importance into it.
26:47That's all I'm saying.
26:48I'd love to see what Ruben Bain's notebook looks like for this week.
26:50I mean, I don't know if we could show it or, you know, it could be aired or publicly seen
27:01without violating some type of law or, yeah.
27:08He could say some crazy things right now.
27:11Yeah.
27:12And it's 730.
27:13It's a 730 game.
27:15By the way, you know the coach doesn't make a schedule, right?
27:19Yes, I know that.
27:20I did clear that up after I said, you know, Mario.
27:23I was like, I don't know if Mario makes the schedule.
27:26I think, what is it, the athletic director?
27:28Yeah.
27:29Of the school?
27:29So, yeah.
27:30Yeah.
27:30Because I tried to get Ward to call Miami.
27:35Schedule a game with Miami.
27:37Oh.
27:38But, Derek.
27:38You were just brokering games?
27:40Yeah.
27:41You got to love him.
27:42I want to see you guys.
27:43But here's the problem.
27:44Here's the problem.
27:46Like, a lot of these, like, a lot of these, a lot of these athletic directors are trying
27:54to set up their schedule accordingly so they have some strength of schedule.
27:58But what happens is you set your schedule up five, six years in advance, right?
28:04And the teams that you think are going to be a good series end up being a dud.
28:08But it's happened.
28:10But you up in Michigan would be a great series.
28:12Come on.
28:12Who doesn't want to go?
28:13Yeah, no, I know.
28:14But when they played us at Michigan, we always thought that the following year we were going
28:23to go down there.
28:24And they said, no, their stadium's too small.
28:27That's why Bo told you guys?
28:29Bo didn't want you guys to have fun in Miami.
28:31Huh?
28:32He just didn't want you guys to go to Miami and have fun.
28:34No, you don't.
28:35It's different in college, dude.
28:36You don't get no free time.
28:39You don't?
28:40Locked on Kansas.
28:41Florida was a huge dud.
28:42Yeah, but it still feels good.
28:44Yeah, I think we played Florida.
28:46We played Florida State one year.
28:49And we played Florida one year.
28:52And they were all like they weren't good at the time.
28:55Wow, that's disrespectful to the OB, man.
28:57Same.
28:58I mean, think about it, though.
29:00We could get with the extra fans that we get than you guys get at the OB.
29:05We could pay y'all.
29:07So it actually, you know, instead of you paying us, you ain't going to pay us enough because
29:14you ain't got enough fans.
29:15So from the financial standpoint, Miami coming up there, keep up.
29:21At the time, the commitment to football wasn't like it is now.
29:25Sounds like Bo was afraid of no blocky.
29:28No.
29:28Yeah, I think so.
29:29No blocky.
29:30Yeah.
29:30Okay.
29:31Okay.
29:31Okay.
