In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18
The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
00:20
Dear friends, today we celebrate the memorial of the Feast of St. Jerome,
00:24
who was a priest and doctor of the church.
00:26
We know him very well for his work of translating the sacred scriptures from their original languages
00:33
into Latin Vulgate, which was, I suppose, the vernacular of the time.
00:37
We pray through his intercession that you and I, and the rest of the world,
00:41
will continue to have greater love for the sacred scriptures.
00:45
I also invite you, dear friends, to pause for a few moments now,
00:48
and to offer into the hands of God through the intercession of St. Jerome,
00:52
your own prayers and intentions.
00:55
As usual, dear friends, feel free to put your intentions in the comment section of our Mass
01:07
going on right now, and hopefully we too can join you in your prayers.
01:12
Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
01:14
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
01:18
Lord Jesus, you were lifted up to draw all people to yourself.
01:22
Lord, have mercy.
01:25
You shouldered the cross to bear our suffering and sinfulness.
01:28
Christ, have mercy.
01:30
You opened for your people the way from death into life.
01:34
Lord, have mercy.
01:37
May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins,
01:40
and bring us to everlasting life.
01:43
Let us pray.
01:44
O God, who gave the priest St. Jerome a living and tender love for sacred scripture,
01:51
grant that your people may be ever more fruitfully nourished by your word,
01:56
and find in it the fount of life.
01:59
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you,
02:03
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
02:06
Amen.
02:08
A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to Timothy.
02:13
You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true.
02:17
Remember who your teachers were and how, ever since you were a child,
02:22
you have known the Holy Scriptures.
02:24
From these you can learn the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
02:29
All scripture is inspired by God and can profitably be used for teaching,
02:35
for refuting error, for guiding people's lives, and teaching them to be holy.
02:41
This is how the man who is dedicated to God becomes fully equipped and ready for any good work.
02:48
The Word of the Lord.
02:50
Thanks be to God.
02:52
Lord, teach me your decrees.
02:54
Lord, teach me your decrees.
02:57
How shall the young remain sinless by obeying your word?
03:01
I have sought you with all my heart.
03:03
Let me not stray from your commands.
03:06
Lord, teach me your decrees.
03:08
I treasure your promise in my heart lest I sin against you.
03:12
Blessed are you, O Lord.
03:14
Teach me your statutes.
03:16
Lord, teach me your decrees.
03:19
With my tongue I have recounted the decrees of your lips.
03:22
I rejoice to do your will,
03:24
as though all riches were mine.
03:26
Lord, teach me your decrees.
03:30
Alleluia, Alleluia.
03:31
Open our hearts, O Lord, to listen to the words of your Son.
03:34
Alleluia.
03:38
The Lord be with you.
03:40
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
03:43
Jesus said to the crowds,
03:46
The kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea
03:50
that brings in a hole of all kinds.
03:53
When it is full, the fishermen haul it ashore.
03:57
Then sitting down, they collect the good ones in the basket
03:59
and throw away those that are no use.
04:03
This is how it will be at the end of time.
04:05
The angels will appear and separate the wicked from the just
04:09
to throw them into the blazing furnace
04:12
where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
04:16
Have you understood all this?
04:18
They said, Yes.
04:20
And he said to them,
04:21
Well then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of heaven
04:25
is like a householder who brings out from his storeroom
04:29
things both new and old.
04:31
The Gospel of the Lord.
04:34
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
04:53
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
04:56
for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you.
04:59
Fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
05:01
it will become for us the bread of life.
05:20
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
05:22
for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you.
05:25
Fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
05:27
it will become for us our spiritual drink.
05:40
Pray, brothers and sisters,
05:41
that my sacrifice and yours
05:43
may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
05:46
Grant us, O Lord, that having meditated on your word,
05:56
following the example of St. Jerome,
05:58
we may more eagerly draw near
06:00
to offer your majesty the sacrifice of salvation
06:03
through Christ our Lord.
06:05
The Lord be with you.
06:08
Lift, and with your spirit lift up your hearts,
06:10
we lift them up to the Lord.
06:11
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
06:15
It is right and just.
06:17
It is truly right and just,
06:18
our duty and our salvation,
06:20
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
06:23
Lord, Holy Father,
06:24
almighty and eternal God through Christ our Lord.
06:27
For us on the festival of St. Jerome,
06:29
you bid your church rejoice.
06:31
So too you strengthen her
06:33
by the example of his holy life,
06:35
teach her by his words of preaching,
06:37
and keep her safe in answer to his prayers.
06:41
And so with the company of angels and saints,
06:43
we sing the hymn of your praise,
06:45
as without end we acclaim,
06:47
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts,
06:51
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
06:54
Hosanna in the highest.
06:56
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
06:58
Hosanna in the highest.
07:00
You are indeed holy, O Lord,
07:06
the fount of all holiness.
07:07
Make holy, therefore,
07:08
these gifts, we pray,
07:09
by sending down your Spirit upon them
07:11
like the doofel,
07:13
so that they may become for us
07:14
the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
07:17
At the time he was betrayed
07:19
and entered willingly into his passion,
07:21
he took bread,
07:22
and giving thanks,
07:24
broke it,
07:24
and gave it to his disciples,
07:26
saying,
07:26
Take this all of you
07:29
and eat of it,
07:31
for this is my body
07:33
which will be given up for you.
07:56
In a similar way,
08:05
when supper was ended,
08:06
he took the chalice,
08:08
and once more giving thanks,
08:09
he gave it to his disciples,
08:11
saying,
08:11
Take this all of you
08:13
and drink from it,
08:14
for this is the chalice of my blood,
08:16
the blood of the new
08:17
and eternal covenant,
08:19
which will be poured out
08:20
for you and for many
08:21
for the forgiveness of sins.
08:24
Do this in memory of me.
08:26
The mystery of faith,
08:48
save us,
08:48
Savior of the world,
08:50
for by your cross and resurrection
08:52
you have set us free.
08:54
Therefore,
08:55
as we celebrate the memorial
08:56
of his death and resurrection,
08:58
we offer you,
08:59
Lord,
08:59
the bread of life
09:00
and the chalice of salvation,
09:02
giving thanks
09:03
that you have held us worthy
09:04
to be in your presence
09:06
and minister to you.
09:07
Humbly,
09:08
we pray that,
09:09
partaking of the body
09:10
and blood of Christ,
09:11
we may be gathered into one
09:13
by the Holy Spirit.
09:14
Remember,
09:15
Lord,
09:15
your church spread throughout the world
09:17
and bring her
09:18
to the fullness of charity,
09:20
together with Leo,
09:21
our Pope,
09:21
and Charles,
09:22
our Bishop,
09:22
and all the clergy.
09:24
Remember also
09:25
our brothers and sisters
09:26
who have fallen asleep
09:27
in the hope
09:28
of the resurrection
09:29
and all who have died
09:30
in your mercy.
09:32
Welcome them
09:32
into the light of your face.
09:34
Have mercy on us all,
09:36
we pray that with
09:37
the blessed Virgin Mary,
09:38
Mother of God,
09:39
with blessed Joseph,
09:40
her spouse,
09:41
with the blessed apostles
09:42
and all the saints
09:43
who have pleased you
09:44
throughout the ages,
09:46
we may merit to be co-heirs
09:47
to eternal life
09:48
and may praise and glorify you
09:51
through your Son,
09:52
Jesus Christ.
09:55
Through him
09:56
and with him
09:57
and in him,
09:57
O God,
09:58
Almighty Father,
09:59
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
10:02
all glory and honor
10:03
is yours
10:03
forever and ever.
10:06
Amen.
10:06
At the Savior's command
10:10
and formed
10:11
by divine teaching,
10:12
we're now there to say,
10:14
Our Father,
10:15
who art in heaven,
10:16
hallowed be thy name.
10:18
Thy kingdom come,
10:19
thy will be done
10:20
on earth
10:21
as it is in heaven.
10:23
Give us this day
10:24
our daily bread
10:25
and forgive us
10:26
our trespasses
10:27
as we forgive those
10:28
who trespass against us
10:30
and lead us not
10:31
into temptation
10:32
but deliver us
10:33
from evil.
10:35
Deliver us,
10:35
Lord,
10:35
we pray,
10:36
from every evil,
10:37
graciously grant peace
10:38
in our days
10:39
that by the help
10:40
of your mercy,
10:41
we may be always
10:42
free from sin
10:43
and safe from all distress
10:45
as we await
10:46
the blessed hope
10:47
and the coming
10:48
of our Savior,
10:49
Jesus Christ.
10:54
Lord Jesus Christ,
10:55
who said to your apostles,
10:56
Peace I leave you,
10:57
my peace I give you,
10:58
look not on our sins
10:59
but on the faith
11:00
of your church
11:01
and graciously grant her
11:03
peace and unity
11:04
in accordance
11:04
with your will
11:05
will live and reign
11:06
forever and ever.
11:08
The peace of the Lord
11:09
be with you always.
11:12
Let us offer each other
11:13
the sign of peace.
11:14
Peace be with you.
11:14
Lamb of God,
11:29
you take away
11:30
the sins of the world,
11:31
have mercy on us.
11:33
Lamb of God,
11:34
you take away
11:35
the sins of the world,
11:36
have mercy on us.
11:38
Lamb of God,
11:39
you take away
11:40
the sins of the world,
11:41
grant us peace.
11:42
Behold the Lamb of God,
12:07
behold him who takes away
12:09
the sins of the world,
12:10
blessed are those
12:11
called to the supper
12:12
of the Lamb.
12:13
Lord,
12:14
I am not worthy
12:15
that you should enter
12:16
under my roof,
12:18
but only say the word
12:19
and my soul
12:20
shall be healed.
12:23
My Jesus,
12:24
I believe that you are present
12:26
in the most blessed sacrament.
12:28
I love you above all things
12:29
and I desire to receive you
12:31
into my soul.
12:33
Since I cannot now
12:34
receive you sacramentally,
12:36
commonly,
12:36
spiritually into my heart.
12:39
I embrace you
12:39
as if you were already there
12:41
and unite myself
12:42
wholly to you.
12:44
Never permit me
12:45
to be separated from you.
12:47
Amen.
12:49
Let us pray.
12:53
May these holy gifts
12:55
we have received,
12:56
O Lord,
12:56
as we rejoice
12:57
in celebrating
12:58
St. Jerome,
12:59
stir up the hearts
13:00
of your faithful
13:01
so that attentive
13:03
to sacred teachings
13:04
they may understand
13:05
the path they are
13:06
to follow
13:07
and by following it
13:08
obtain life everlasting.
13:11
Through Christ our Lord.
13:13
Amen.
13:14
Friends,
13:14
thank you for your
13:15
prayerful company
13:16
wherever you may be.
13:17
Thank you for your company
13:18
during this time of prayer.
13:19
Let's continue to
13:20
strengthen each other
13:22
with prayer
13:22
wherever we may be
13:23
and pray to God
13:25
that we continue
13:25
to receive from Him
13:26
the gifts of healing,
13:28
strength,
13:28
and courage.
13:30
The Lord be with you.
13:30
May Almighty God bless you,
13:33
the Father and the Son
13:34
and the Holy Spirit.
13:36
Amen.
13:37
Go and announce
13:37
the Gospel of the Lord.
