Brig o’Doon House Hotel's new restaurant ‘Tales’ is well worth the journey from Glasgow
Part of The RAD Hotel Group, which acquired the historic property in 2022, the restaurant’s name Tales draws on the storytelling heritage of Robert Burns, who penned some of his most iconic works nearby on the famous Brig bridge.
The extended restaurant, which doubles the restaurant’s capacity to 90 covers, is housed in a purpose-built wraparound extension with views overlooking the River Doon.
00:00Good morning, I am sitting here at the beautiful Tales of Restaurant inside the spectacular Brigadoon Hotel.
00:08Tales Restaurant was the last part of a £2.5 million transformation of this purely stunning hotel in Ayrshire.
00:17It's not too far a drive from Glasgow, we get down here within the error, just below the error.
00:23As you can see behind me, this room is absolutely stunning. It's inspired the Scottish folklore.
00:30We are in typical Burns country here with his birthplace only being up the road that you can walk to.
00:35There's a visitor centre around the corner where you can explore the history of Robert Burns.
00:39And of course, that bridge from Tam O'Shanter is just over my left shoulder there.
00:45The menu in here is incredible. We had a beautiful meal in here last night.
00:50A prawn cocktail to start for me. My better half went for the chicken tenders.
00:55There's a scotch egg in there. The haggis. There's a haggis crepe on the menu.
00:59And then for me it was beef Wellington for me, which was absolutely tremendous.
01:02It was an individual part of it. You don't see that in too many places, but it was honestly one of the best things that I've eaten.
01:07That was served with a red wine jus and some veg, and potatoes too.
01:12On the other side we went for a steak. Subway steak cooked to perfection.
01:17You've got a nice bit of meat. And then of course there's a stuffed life. There's a lemon and black pepper chicken on the main menu.
01:22And there's other choices. There's a couple of seafood options too. Fish and chip steak probably a wee bit more traditional.
01:30There's a great bar in there to the right. You've got ten that's in draft, men of brae and draft.
01:35There's plenty of bottles and cans you can choose from. Plenty of spirits and a great cocktail menu too.
01:40Making it the perfect place for a date night. One of the other things I noticed with the menu was the market menu.
01:46Two courses for 20 quid, which is great value. So if you're in the area of fancying a wee day trip or a night away, I would thoroughly recommend Brigadoon.
01:58And if not, and you're just passing by, get yourself into Teal's restaurant and try it out. It's absolutely stunning.
02:04And I'm sure he would agree after you try it that it's well worth the journey down from Glasgow.
