00:00Was it any appeal, Lewis, the players North End had already signed before they brought you in?
00:04Yeah, of course.
00:05Number 11 or something and got a lot of quality come through the door?
00:07Yeah, definitely. I think as a lone player or a new player going into any team,
00:11you always look at the squad before you sign there and you want to know
00:16if them players are going to suit the way you play and if you're going to be able to gel with them.
00:21And I definitely look at this team thinking, yeah, the football they play is really good
00:24and I think you've definitely seen that in the games we've played so far.
00:27Yeah, the club's got a pretty good record with lone players that have come here and the manager as well.
00:31Can you see why from what you've seen so far?
00:33Yeah, definitely. Everyone I've spoken to, I've had a couple of my mates been here before,
00:37you know, like Tom Cannon, Kane, they've got nothing but praises to say about this club
00:42so I knew it wouldn't be a problem when I was coming here and yeah, I was just really looking forward to it.
00:47Did you speak to them then and they just said, yeah, go for it?
00:49Yeah, definitely. Just ask them what it's like as a club, what the culture's like,
00:54what the building's like, everything really.
00:56I think it's really important to try and get as much information about a club before going there
01:01because it really helps you, you know, plan your future and become comfortable as fast as possible.
01:06Was Norwich quite a good step for you? I know you got injured there,
01:09but a lot of Norwich fans were saying great things about you when you came here.
01:13Yeah, I can't praise Norwich enough to be fair, they were great with me.
01:16I loved every minute there and I was really gutted when, you know, I did pick up that injury,
01:21but I felt like I was just getting into my stride and getting fully fit there.
01:25And yeah, it was unlucky, but like I said, that club was amazing with me and yeah, I got nothing but high praise for them.
01:33And even when a loan maybe doesn't go the way you want, like West Brom potentially,
01:37do you still learn a lot and take from it and look back and think, yeah, I still got something from that?
01:41Yeah, of course. I mean, it's so common in football, you know, for loans not to go well.
01:46It's part of the game. It's how you react to it, really. It's what you do in your next step.
01:50And I think what I did at Norwich proved that I have the right mentality, really.
01:55It's gone now. I can't change that. I just have to grow and learn from it and then prove everyone wrong, really.
02:00Yeah. Do you feel like you've got the freedom here to be in full flow?
02:04Because it feels like players like yourself, maybe in this day and age, control and possession is so important that they get limited,
02:09but you look like you've just got the license to go and do your stuff.
02:12Yeah, definitely. I think the way we play really benefits me as a player. I think I'm allowed,
02:18I have that freedom to, you know, go anywhere on the pitch and try and make things happen.
02:22I think that's what the gaffer says to me a lot. It's just, obviously, if I do the stuff right out of possession,
02:27he doesn't really care what I do in possession because he knows I've got the quality to make stuff happen.
02:31So it gives you that confidence to go out there and just perform, hopefully, and, you know, help the team.
02:37So what's the balance between giving you all this detail so you know exactly what to do
02:41and then having that little bit of just got a feel and what you can see on the pitch?
02:46I think it's more to do with patterns, really. I think you can do as much preparing as possible
02:53off the pitch before a game. But I think when you're in a game, you kind of pick up different
02:57little things and where the space is going to be and how you can adapt to hurt teams.
03:01So I think it's just trying to take in as much information as possible, but also just taking it
03:08game by game, really, and just adapting in the game as well.
03:11Which was the better goal, do you think? Wrexham or...?
03:14I thought you were going to say me and Alfie.
03:19Yeah, I'd go Middlesbrough, definitely.
03:21Did you have real confidence of scoring that? You just looked like someone who knew exactly what you wanted to do?
03:25Yeah, I think as soon as I get the ball and I face someone up, I just want to go for a goal.
03:30You know, that's what I want to do. I think that's what my game is.
03:33So I don't really have any doubts when I do face players up. I just want to try and make things happen.
03:38And yeah, thankfully that time it did happen.
03:40Has your dad been in the away end or is he in the sand room?
03:43Yeah, he was there at Derby, obviously. I was at Derby a few years ago.
03:48So he was really excited to go back to Pride Park.
03:51So he was there and yeah, he loved it. He's loved every minute of every game so far, to be fair.
03:56So yeah, he's really embraced it.
