00:00Was Jefferson ill on the day or was it the last minute thing, Friday night or something?
00:03Yeah, Friday night. We knew he was, we thought he was a little bit of tonsillitis but
00:07when he woke up Saturday he was running a fever and feeling really unwell so we got the doctor
00:12to check him and yeah it was, whether it was that bit of flu-like symptoms but he had antibiotics
00:18from the days before but it may just be the virus has run its course, we'll not know.
00:22We've seen glimpses haven't we, do you think he's ready to now really show what he's all about?
00:26Who Jebo? Yeah, listen, he would have been on the pitch at the weekend if we'd have had him.
00:32Been pleased, been settling in, another one who's had a bit stop start because of that foot injury.
00:38So yeah, he's not, he's shown moments but that's fine if his moments are good enough to help us win games
00:45that's fine and then we'll be patient enough with him that, you know, training regular, more and more minutes
00:51will gradually raise and raise his standards but ultimately it's about what he can do to improve us,
00:59what he can do to help us win.
01:01Nothing to say on Paul, is it the same as Saturday after the game?
01:04He's out, Paul.
01:05Is he?
01:05Yeah, he's out, he's out so we'll get him back as quick as possible.
01:11He did the right thing, he felt his hamstring, he pulled up and when assessed we got him off the pitch.
01:18So, yeah.
01:19Not too bad then or?
01:21No, no, listen, here's what it is.
01:22Hamstring's been a great athlete, is it hamstring?
01:24Yeah, hamstring, he's back when he's back, you know, does the rehab and you can progress
01:30but until I see him fit and training, with those injuries you've got to display and show
01:39that you are 100% before you're going to be considered for a game.
01:42Yeah, a chance for someone else.
01:44You literally said on Thursday, everyone's got to be ready, everyone's got to be lucky.
01:46Yeah, that's it, it's time of year now that happens, you get injuries, you get suspensions,
01:51you get loss of form, like I said, you get, if everyone's back fit, it allows us to pick
01:54different teams when you're playing your Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, different benches.
02:01Yeah, so hopefully we welcome those boys back as quick as possible.
02:04Was Dan's save, has one of your goalkeepers ever made a save that looked as good as that
02:10or have you reacted to a save, it was one of those wow moments?
02:14Yeah, yeah, I think like I said, the timing of it, the style of it, Dan's got a lot of unorthodox
02:19ways he goes about making saves and I think that was one of them, I don't know people make that save,
02:25you know.
02:25But it's what he enjoys doing, it sounds silly, but he actually, you think, yeah, Goki, that's the job,
02:33but he enjoys those moments, he enjoys training sessions that replicate things like that.
02:40Yeah, and that's his value to the team, so yeah, I did enjoy that.
02:46Do you think it's innate, that ability, because there's not many keepers you see doing it and he's done
02:49five or six of those in a northern shirt?
02:51Yeah, it's his handball background, it's that handball spread, I call it.
02:55Yeah, a lot of Scandinavians have that different, but again, I don't know much about how he's
03:02brought up in his football progression until he got over here and these shores, but he's,
03:10from what I've seen, because he enjoys certain training sessions that not all goalkeepers enjoy,
03:16that require those reflexes, those reflex saves, those spreads, those blocks, those 1v1
03:24moments, he's, yeah, I think that's because he shows to me that he's got a big enjoyment of that,
03:30he's probably always enjoyed those things and then you develop your own technique to be
03:34successful in it.
03:35Was there any concern on your part that he'd not played at all for about a year or did you
03:40think he'd be as seamless as he's been?
03:43Yeah.
03:43No, it's like he's never been away really.
03:47Yeah, but you guys know that, I don't know that, do you know what I mean? So mine was
03:51speaking to people, speaking to Dan at the end of the season, he, listen, his choice, he
03:59wanted to come and play, he obviously knows Mike Pollitt really well, knows the club really
04:03well. What I was speaking to him about in terms of what I'd want from him in the team, he
04:09knew we could deliver because we wouldn't be speaking to him otherwise. What we were going
04:13to push him on to try and improve on, he really liked the sound of that. Yeah, it was all his
04:18decision really. And like I say, you, you guys saw more of him at Preston than I did
04:23previously. Yeah, he's done. I just saw a goalkeeper that I thought, yeah, we, he's
04:28how we want to play.
04:29Is rotation, without giving too much away in your mind for this, it's a three-game week,
04:33you put a lot into Saturday, or is it just the case, every game you're thinking, do I
04:37need to freshen it up?
04:37Uh, yeah, every game, but certainly when you play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, it's a big
04:41thing. I think you could see again, when we started dipping, we brought good energy on
04:45and we lifted our performances again. And I just felt, even though they had those two
04:51moments towards the end, particularly Dan's save, I just felt we were the ones who showed
04:54the most energy in the last 10, 15 minutes. It's a big thing. And when we've got that, uh,
05:00within the squad, we want to use it. Like I said, whether that's from the start, whether
05:03that's from the bench, um, we need to be delivering high energy performances.
05:08A three-game week's that big test of, you've spoken about, let's approach every game the
05:12same. It just comes and goes like that, three games, nine points.
05:15Yeah, it flies, and you get, listen, I forgot how nice it is to play the Saturday, Saturday's
05:20my time here, because of the cup games and the runs we had last season, we didn't have
05:24many Saturday, Saturday weeks at all. Yeah. Um, we've just had a couple,
05:29where we could really work hard in training, the preparation for the next game doesn't
05:35feel rushed, and then all of a sudden you thrust back into it and it's like, yeah, this
05:38is what the championship's like again. So it does make a difference, definitely, in
05:41how you prepare, um, you know, how you want to deliver things to the players, but we're
05:48all used to it, the players are used to it.
05:50Is McBurnie looking like a talisman for Hull, what you've seen so far? You know all about
05:54him, don't you? Yeah. Um, yeah, and I think they're sort of getting the best out of him,
05:58like I mentioned, the crosses, big thing, Giles one side, whether it's been a winger on the
06:04other side, it's been drama the last game, the ball's coming in, um, and he'll thrive on
06:09that, he enjoys that. Um, and like I said, I think for successful crosses at the top of
06:15the league, they're not getting the most number of crosses in, but success is there and that's
06:20because of the quality of the delivery, but whether it's, uh, whether it is Olly McBurnie,
06:24whether it is Joseph, whether it is Lundsham from midfield, whether it is Gellhart, whether
06:27it is the opposite wing-back, those boys are believing that they're going to get on the
06:31end of it.
06:32Yeah, you mentioned Lundstrom, Egan's there as well, you know, about those as well, how
06:36they're settled in, they're playing a big part.
06:37Yeah, they're playing and performing, like I said, they're a dangerous team, they're
06:42a dangerous team, you can see that. Uh, like Southampton game's a great example of it, Southampton
06:48come away statistically looking like they've dominated the game and they've lost 3-1. Big
06:55moments from Hull players, real good goals, clinical, um, so yeah, they're a really dangerous
07:02opponent.
