00:48Hosted by Sean Sticks Larkin.
00:52You know you were on camera, right?
00:55Welcome to Crime Cam 24-7.
00:58One of the things I noticed during my years on the job with the Tulsa Police Department is how often criminals aren't proficient in the use of firearms.
01:06You learn pretty quickly.
01:08Just because someone is carrying a gun doesn't mean they're any good with it.
01:12In our first story, you'll see a perfect example of what I'm talking about, along with one of the luckiest people of all time.
01:26West Jefferson, Ohio.
01:28Sunday, May 12th, 2024.
01:324.38 PM.
01:34Cameras monitor the parking lot in front of an Amazon warehouse just outside Columbus, Ohio.
01:42Inside, a lone security guard passes the time by watching videos on his phone.
01:48When 22-year-old security officer in training Ali Hasma Yusuf enters the area behind him.
01:56The man in the chair, who is also Yusuf's supervisor, doesn't appear to notice him.
02:02But he's about to get his attention.
02:04He aims a loaded pistol at the unsuspecting security guard.
02:10Yusuf takes aim.
02:12And from just three feet away, he pulls the trigger.
02:16But his gun jams.
02:18The man at the desk is completely unaware that his trainee just tried to end his life,
02:24as Yusuf clears the chamber and points the weapon again.
02:28He fires, barely missing his target.
02:32Through a stroke of luck or just bad markmanship, Yusuf misses yet again from point-blank range.
02:42When the intended victim spins around in his chair, Yusuf takes a step back,
02:46while the guard bolts from the security desk.
02:50Off camera, Yusuf fires another shot.
02:54A camera above the loading dock captures the guard ducking and running for cover from the gunman.
03:00Yusuf briefly follows the man, but doubles back toward the security desk.
03:06Two minutes later, Yusuf has ditched his security shirt and walks casually through the parking lot of the building.
03:16Meanwhile, police are en route to the warehouse.
03:28West Jefferson police have no idea who or what is waiting for them on scene.
03:34They rely on dispatch to feed them details on the shooter.
03:40Suspects are going to be a black male, baggy cargo pants, black shirt.
03:44Last report and study for Dylan, so I've received multiple calls on a note.
03:50Still in?
03:51Officers arrive on scene, unaware of whether the gunman is still in the building.
03:57With a possible active shooter hiding inside the warehouse, armed officers enter the building cautiously.
04:05They soon learn from an employee the shooter has already left the facility.
04:19With the help of employee records, West Jefferson PD identifies the suspect and calls on the Columbus Police Department to assist with locating the shooter.
04:29Two hours after the incident, authorities close in on Yusuf.
04:33Madison County has an active shooter.
04:36He's right here, right? Toyota?
04:38Number two lane.
04:44Columbus PD locates the fleeing suspect with the help of deputies from the sheriff's office.
04:49Now pinned in by patrol cars, Yusuf comes out firing.
04:54There they are, there they are.
05:11After the suspect starts shooting, he takes off.
05:16The officer gets out of his car and uses the full length of his patrol vehicle,
05:23including the engine block as cover, from the fleeing suspect,
05:28as gunfire comes to an end.
05:32Seconds later, dispatch reveals the suspect's status.
05:37Let's push down.
05:39And the first responding officer gives an update of his own.
05:44104, I'm hit by a bullet.
05:46We got 104.
05:48Don't you f*** down!
05:50Hands up!
05:52You all right? You all right?
05:53I got hit. I'm hit somewhere.
05:54I think I'm in the, I think I got hit in the vest.
05:57Let's get that medic in.
05:59You good? You good?
06:00Yeah, right here.
06:01The suspect suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital,
06:06where he was later pronounced dead.
06:07Get in there, get in there!
06:09Ah!
06:10The officer who was struck by gunfire was saved by his bulletproof vest.
06:15I'm hit!
06:16Thankfully, no civilians or police officers were injured by Youssef during either incident.
06:23Police were unable to determine Youssef's motive for the attack on his supervisor.
06:28Albuquerque, New Mexico.
06:38Friday, May 24th, 2024.
06:4311.35 PM.
06:46Two surveillance cameras that monitor the driveway scene here also provide a view of a handful
06:53of homes across the street as well, and they're about to come in very handy.
06:58A white truck pulls up at the end of the block.
07:05The driver, now out of the car, lifts a gas can from the bed of the truck,
07:16and hauls it down the street past several houses, directly in view of recording surveillance cameras.
07:27The man in black lifts the gas can over the fence and tries to set it down carefully without making a sound.
07:41Another angle captures the man hopping a gate to enter the property.
07:45Seconds later, he dumps gasoline all over an SUV in the driveway of the home.
07:56The vandal then moves on to pour gas on a second car in the driveway, closest to the front door.
08:05When he pours gas on a white car, the motion sensor lights are activated, and dogs begin barking.
08:12But the floodlights and dogs do little to deter the man.
08:16He proceeds to empty the entire can of gas over all three cars.
08:22Seconds later, the cars are ablaze.
08:31It seems the arsonist didn't think things through,
08:34catching himself on fire in the process.
08:41And barely escaping the explosion by hopping over the wrought iron fence.
08:45He scurries back up the street toward his pickup truck.
08:56Just as a car appears on camera at the end of the street,
09:00the arsonist slows to a walk,
09:02perhaps thinking that running away from the scene in smoking pants might seem suspicious.
09:08As the driver of the car stops in front of the fire,
09:12the fire starter gets in his truck and flees the crime scene.
09:23Moments later, Albuquerque firefighters arrive and extinguish the fire
09:28before it can spread to other homes in the neighborhood.
09:31The fire destroyed all three cars and caused thousands of dollars in damage to the home.
09:42But there's some good news for the victim.
09:45Thanks to the surveillance footage captured by the resident across the street,
09:49investigators identified the white pickup truck used in the crime
09:53as belonging to 46-year-old Artemio Sanchez Ortega,
09:57an ex-boyfriend of the resident in the home.
10:01Ortega was captured a month after the incident
10:03and charged with one count of arson.
10:06His case is pending in Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
10:11The victim told police that Sanchez Ortega had called her three times before the incident
10:16and that she could tell he was drinking.
10:18Now, even though the presence of the cameras didn't deter the arsonist
10:21or prevent the crime from happening,
10:23this footage caught on video right here
10:25did help pin the crime to the suspect.
10:34Prepare for more feeds.
10:36Next up, some drama at a courtroom hearing in Nevada.
10:41A public defender is making a case for his client, a repeat offender.
10:45He explains to the judge that the convicted man has changed his ways
10:49and should not be sent back to jail for his latest crime.
10:51The judge disagrees and the defendant, well, let's just say he shows everyone
10:58that maybe a little more time behind bars isn't such a bad idea.
11:01Las Vegas, Nevada, Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, 1102 AM.
11:1530-year-old Diabra Redden is in court today to face sentencing for an attempted battery charge.
11:26Judge Mary Kay Holtis presiding.
11:29The charges stem from an incident in 2023 when Redden got into an argument with another man
11:40and threatened to bust his kneecaps.
11:43Redden has pled guilty, but this is hardly Redden's first run-in with the law.
11:47And before the judge hands down Redden's sentence, the prosecution reminds her of his checkered past.
11:53My concerns are that there are crimes of violence.
11:58Yep.
11:59My concern is based on the nature of criminal history.
12:04Long story short, the prosecution believes it's time for Redden to return behind bars.
12:10I think a prison term would be appropriate.
12:13I ask the court to oppose 1948.
12:16They are requesting up to a four-year prison term, but not so fast.
12:22Redden has a different view of the situation.
12:25Mr. Redden, is there anything you want to say on your own behalf before I pronounce sentence?
12:29Um, so, basically, I would like to tell the courts on here, like, based on my criminal history, like, I feel, I feel that, like, I shouldn't be, like, sent in prison.
12:41Three felonies, a gross, nine misdemeanors, multiple DVs.
12:46Got a lot going on, sir.
12:48Redden makes an argument that he has turned over a new leaf.
12:52I'm in a better place in my mind, my mental health.
12:56I have a support system.
12:58I just got hired as a teamster for, you know, a union.
13:04Just, like, trying to learn from my mistakes.
13:06I feel like I shouldn't be sent to prison.
13:09I'm a person who never stops trying to do the right thing.
13:13And I don't want to be standing here.
13:15I don't want you to have to, you know, step here and waste your time.
13:19He's the best thing for you.
13:22Finally, after explaining how he's a new man and his criminal life is a thing of the past,
13:27his attorney steps in to advocate for a probation sentence rather than a return to prison.
13:32This report wants the 1948 suggested by the VA.
13:36I have no issue with that, but this is suspended rather than just sending to prison for any of the time.
13:42But Judge Holtis rejects the defense or proposal for probation because she isn't convinced Redden is a changed man.
13:50I appreciate that, but I think it's time that he gets a taste of something else because I just can't with that history.
13:57And perhaps she has a point.
14:00In accordance with the laws of state of Nevada, this court...
14:03Oh, .
14:12As Judge Holtis begins to read the sentence, Diabra Redden shouts obscenities,
14:18goes airborne over the judge's bench,
14:21and tackles Holtis.
14:28The court clerk immediately jumps in to pull Redden off the judge,
14:34followed closely behind by a bailiff
14:36and an assistant from the state attorney's office.
14:39Judge Holtis, meanwhile, takes cover under the bench.
14:42Hey, where's Mary Kay?
14:43Is she okay?
14:45Several officers of the court finally subdue the enraged defendant
14:50behind the bench out of camera view.
14:53You got medical?
14:54Yeah, we need medical.
14:56Minutes after the attack, Redden is placed in a holding cell.
15:00Judge Holtis, visibly shaken, is helped to her feet and brought back to her chambers.
15:05Five days after the brutal attack in court, Redden is sentenced to four years
15:10in the Nevada Department of Corrections for his original attempted battery charge.
15:15He later received an additional sentence of between 26 and 65 years in prison
15:20for his attack on Judge Holtis.
15:25Judge Holtis was not hospitalized and returned to work after treatment for minor injuries.

15:40Prepare for more feeds.
15:45Shreveport, Louisiana, Wednesday, July 20th, 2016, 2.03 a.m.
16:04A dash cam is recording a late-night cleaning of a Honda Accord at a do-it-yourself car wash.
16:1146-year-old Mike Davis casually smokes a cigarette as he operates a high-pressure power washer
16:17that shoots scathing hot mixture of water and soap.
16:20Davis' disabled brother sitting inside the car gets a perfect view of the sudsy show
16:25from the passenger seat off camera.
16:27But that's not the only show he'll get tonight.
16:30In the middle of the wash, a masked man suddenly appears around the corner just out of Davis' sight.
16:37He continues to give the windshield a good rinse.
16:40And when it clears, the masked man is revealed pointing a gun straight at him.
16:46Davis turns his head, making eye contact with a gunman who is shouting at him as he continues to wash his car.
16:53He stops and moves closer for a better listen to the suspect's demands,
16:58where he abruptly decides to turn the tables.
17:09Thinking on his feet, Davis blasts a raging, soapy stream of hot liquid at 3,000 pounds per square inch
17:17directly into the gunman's face.
17:19He quickly retreats.
17:21With the cigarette still firmly planted between his lips, defiant Davis shifts to his right
17:28to meet a second assailant with his makeshift weapon.
17:31A swing of the hose misses the would-be thief as both men take off.
17:36Now off camera, Davis gets back in his car, starts it up, and races forward to give chase.
17:43But the hose gets stuck on the front of the vehicle.
17:47He backs the car up and eventually emerges on the passenger side, yelling in the direction of the failed felons,
17:54who are now long gone.
17:56A few moments later, the brave car owner acts as if nothing ever happened,
18:01turning his hose back on its original target, continuing to finish the job.
18:06At first, I didn't see them.
18:09Like, I actually saw a guy out on my left-hand side, and he didn't say anything.
18:13He walked by, and I thought maybe he was just somebody walking by.
18:16And then when I turned to my right, that's when his accomplice had set up on me,
18:20and that guy actually said to me, he said,
18:22give me your keys and give me your money.
18:24And I pretended like I didn't hear him, and I was like, what'd you say?
18:27It allowed me to close the gap with him a little bit so I could, you know,
18:30also give me a little bit of time to figure out what the hell I was about to do.
18:33It came to me really quick. I was like, I have a weapon in my hand.
18:36This is 3,000 PSI, 140-degree water with soap in it.
18:39Let me get in this guy's eyes and see what he does.
18:42I actually jumped in my car, and I took off.
18:44I was going to try to run him down.
18:46And unfortunately, the hose had fallen in front of my car.
18:49So when I took off, I noticed that I didn't want to hurt my car,
18:52so I put it in reverse, and by the time I turned around, they were already gone.
18:55Even though the washed-up suspects got away and remain unidentified,
18:59Davis managed to keep his car, his brother, and his cigarette safe.
19:04At $8 a pack in Louisiana, this was a win-win-win.
19:09I used to tell people to see my video, I'm like, you know,
19:12good cigarette control is kind of key to fighting off carjackers.
19:16Prepare for more fees.
19:26Finally, videos of crooks stealing packages off people's front doorsteps
19:31are something we see all the time these days.
19:33But as you're about to see, this type of crime has become so common
19:37that it's actually getting competitive.
19:40Redding, Pennsylvania.
19:49Tuesday, June 18th, 2024.
19:52Midday.
19:54A doorbell camera in this quiet suburb captures a delivery driver dropping off a package.
20:01Cars are parked up and down the street, but this car is parked in front of the home
20:07and in the middle of the road.
20:10Right as the box is dropped off, a man pops out of the white sedan
20:14and makes a run for the package.
20:16But turns out, he's got company.
20:20That's right.
20:21Not one, but two doorbell deadbeats arrive at the same time
20:25to steal the freshly delivered goods.
20:28The delivery driver takes notice of the car as he heads back to his van.
20:38As he hits the driveway, the two porch pirates jump out of their cars and race up the lawn.
20:45And it becomes a sprint to see who can steal the valuable package first.
20:49The thief wearing a hoodie and mask pulls out a screwdriver and takes a swing at his competition
20:56before snatching the package off the porch.
21:00Not to be outdone, his competition picks up a flower pot to defend himself.
21:06But the masked man flees off camera.
21:11Although the driver yells at the men, he decides that theft just isn't his problem
21:16and waves off the thieves behind him.
21:19Just another day at the office, I guess.
21:23The two suspects exchange a few words before hopping into their getaway cars and fleeing the scene.
21:32The owner of the home posted the footage to social media in the hopes of identifying the suspects.
21:37The package contained mobile phones from the victim's carrier.
21:40No arrests have been made in the case.
21:42Well, that's all for this edition of Crime Camp 24-7.
21:45I'm Sean Sticks Larkin.
21:47Thanks for watching.
