00:48Hosted by Sean Sticks Larkin.
00:52You know you're on camera, right?
00:55Welcome to Crime Cam 24-7.
00:58Few jobs are as rewarding and completely unpredictable as being a police officer.
01:03Some days are fairly routine.
01:05And then there are those days when a typical call turns it into an insane situation in the blink of an eye.
01:11And what you learn very quickly is that despite all the training,
01:15de-escalation tactics will only work when a suspect is willing to respond to them.
01:20And if they're not, well, there's no telling how far they'll go, as you're about to see.
01:31Lathrop, California.
01:34Saturday, January 27th, 2024.
01:391228 PM.
01:42This is the dash cam view from a police cruiser.
01:45Officers are responding to a 911 call for a domestic disturbance that came in minutes earlier.
01:51I'm actually calling for a friend.
01:54Her and her daughter are in danger.
01:56This guy, he's threatening to kill her.
01:58He almost did try to kill her last night, she said.
02:00And I'm just really worried and I don't know what to do.
02:03Officers arrive at the scene to find the suspect's girlfriend and her daughter outside in the street.
02:09Just off camera, the suspect shouts at them from the driveway.
02:14No, John!
02:15Why are you guys running from John?
02:16Oh my God!
02:17He's so black, he needs help.
02:18Okay, come back here.
02:19He tried to kill you last night.
02:20That's not too bad.
02:22The distraught mother and daughter move behind the officers for protection
02:26as one officer attempts to communicate with the woman's boyfriend.
02:30Hey John, what's going on right now?
02:32One officer spots the suspect entering a vehicle in the driveway
02:36on the other side of this VW bus and quickly gets ready for a potential pursuit
02:42as the man's girlfriend gives a warning.
02:45He wrote my back.
02:46Hey Tino, stop that car if he takes it off.
02:50The officer's dash cam shows the suspect backing out of the driveway
02:55as another police vehicle approaches from behind.
02:58But it's not enough to stop the man.
03:02Point 32, we have one taken off.
03:04Cold-colored Utah, Versa.
03:06The suspect makes a right turn, blowing through a stop sign on the corner
03:10as both units pursue.
03:13He makes another right running through yet another stop sign in the residential area.
03:20And a third, circling the block to wind up back where he started,
03:26in front of the home that he took off from in the first place.
03:30With the car stopped, the man tries to talk to the two women.
03:34One shouts back at him.
03:37Looking to bring the situation to an end,
03:40this officer, using his car door as protection, aims his service weapon at the suspect.
03:46Turn the car off, Neal!
03:49Turn your car off.
03:51Turn your car off.
03:53Neal's extremely cooperative.
03:55But the armed officer isn't enough to deter the suspect,
03:59who refuses to comply with orders.
04:01We're taking off again.
04:04But this time, instead of circling around the neighborhood,
04:08he makes his way out of the residential area.
04:11Moments later, he's heading towards a freeway.
04:15Determined to escape, he swerves to the oncoming lane,
04:19barely missing this white sedan.
04:21Suddenly, the suspect attempts to make a U-turn.
04:27But the officer crosses the median
04:32and runs into the vehicle, trying to pin it against the curb.
04:36This dash cam from another unit pulling up to the scene catches the suspect,
04:42making a quick move to slip by.
04:44Bringing this to an end won't be easy.
04:47Seconds later, the suspect hops onto a freeway on-ramp.
04:51But his car is starting to fall apart.
04:54Further down the road, police have cleared this stretch of freeway,
05:06hoping to keep drivers in these cars safe.
05:09But with his car compromised, the suspect sees an opportunity to grab another set of wheels.
05:15The suspect then jumps out of the car and attempts a very dangerous plan B.
05:25You mean you're trying to carjack somebody?
05:28The vehicle's tire falls to pieces on the road as the driver steers through a gap in the line of cars.
05:37The suspect runs to the nearest car, a blue sedan.
05:42He attempts to carjack it, but the driver is not having it,
05:46and takes off, leaving the man hanging on for dear life,
05:50barely keeping his legs from scraping the pavement.
05:54The driver pulls over as the trailing patrol car bumps the suspect,
05:58but it appears it will take more to stop him.
06:01Hey, you're getting shot!
06:04Get on the ground!
06:06Get on the ground!
06:08Get on the ground!
06:09Shot's fired.
06:10Shot's fired.
06:13The suspect runs to the passenger side of the vehicle and tries to open the door.
06:18The officer hits him with two rounds from his firearm,
06:21hitting the man in the side and the forearm,
06:24bringing this dangerous chase to an end without any injuries to an officer or innocent bystanders.
06:31Don't move!
06:32Ah, bro, why'd you shoot him?
06:35Officers apprehend the man and administer first aid at the scene.
06:4340-year-old Juan Valdez was brought to the hospital and treated for his wounds.
06:47He was charged with felony carjacking, false imprisonment, evasion, resisting arrest, and committing a felony while on parole.
06:56Prepare for more feeds.
07:06Tampa, Florida.
07:11It's late at night outside the Mons Venus Strip Club.
07:26Four patrons are getting fresh air as a security guard stands near the door.
07:32It's a typical scene, but something not so typical is about to catch the bouncer's eye.
07:38A very large man wearing a devil's mask suddenly appears.
07:44He's holding a bright flashlight.
07:47But it's not just his appearance that's troubling.
07:50In his right hand, he's holding a gun.
07:53He heads for the entrance and opens the door.
07:56But the security guard springs into action and grabs for his gun.
08:01The patrons run for cover as the two men scuffle.
08:06During the struggle, the security guard strips the gun out of the suspect's hand, causing it to fall to the ground.
08:14In a fit of rage, the masked menace wildly charges and swings at the guard like a man possessed, before falling temporarily off camera.
08:25The bouncer is able to get around the assailant, grab the gun off the ground, and point it at the masked man.
08:31This should bring an end to the situation, but this demon won't be so easily deterred.
08:38Another security guard comes out the front door, right as the wild, deranged man lunges for the weapon.
08:50Still in possession of the firearm, the guard knocks the troublemaker to his knees, hitting him in the head with the butt of the gun, causing it to go off.
09:00But miraculously, no one is hit.
09:03The three bouncers pin the suspect to the ground as one kicks him.
09:11Reportedly, this 350-pound guard had to put all of his weight on the man's back to keep him at bay until authorities can arrive.
09:21Security guard Manuel Resto, seen here, breaks down the potentially deadly situation.
09:28All of a sudden, he came right up to me, and he was a very big man, very big.
09:34We started banging.
09:36I got hit in the head quite a few times.
09:38I almost went unconscious, but I wasn't going to let this happen.
09:42I was not going to let him win.
09:44He was not going to hurt nobody.
09:4744-year-old Michael Rudman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
09:53Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
09:55Possessing or receiving a firearm while under a risk protection order and possession of drugs.
10:03Rudman also has quite an extensive criminal history with previous charges of battery, reckless driving, and domestic violence.
10:11Tampa police found two fully loaded magazines in his pocket, along with some additional ammunition and knives in his truck.
10:19Police praised the security guards, claiming they saved dozens of lives.
10:25No one was seriously injured.
10:27Have you captured a crime on camera?
10:31Please send your videos and tips to crimecam247 at lawnews.com.
10:41Prepare for more feeds.
10:47Next up is a situation that involves something very important to me and anyone else who has ever served as a law enforcement officer.
10:56Maintaining the integrity of the oath every officer swears to before putting on the uniform.
11:02Whether the public believes it or not, most departments do a very good job of policing their own and getting rid of dirty cops.
11:10And you're about to see an example of this, all caught on camera.
11:20Charlotte, North Carolina.
11:23Thursday, March 14th, 2024, 542 PM.
11:29A motorcycle officer with Charlotte Mecklenburg PD has a driver pulled over for speeding.
11:35The video here is provided by the body cam of his partner, Officer Henry Chapman, who discovers the driver has an outstanding warrant for weapons charges.
11:44He asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle.
11:47The motor officer has no back seat to detain the suspect.
12:06So Officer Chapman, driving a cruiser, takes the man with him in his vehicle.
12:12The suspect has been cooperative with police, but once in the back seat of the cruiser, he wants to hand off a large amount of cash to this man, who was in the car with him when he was pulled over.
12:27Officer Chapman denies the request and informs both men that the money will be held by police for safekeeping.
12:34Later, once Officer Chapman arrives at the station with the suspect, he hands the money off to a booking officer, preserving the chain of custody.
12:52And it's that chain of custody that the suspect has his concerns about.
13:04While the booking officer counts out and documents the cash, the suspect interrupts her.
13:18The suspect is concerned the accounting may be off, and here's why.
13:32He believes Officer Chapman didn't turn in all of his cash.
13:37It's not uncommon for people under arrest to try to prolong the process, but it's another thing to accuse officers of crimes during arrest while being recorded on body-worn cameras.
14:00A sergeant steps in to defuse the situation.
14:21You have to take your money.
14:22But Officer Chapman remains quiet as he appears focused on the area inside the door of the cruiser.
14:29Let me ask you a question.
14:30Ask one question.
14:31Are you saying that there's more money in here?
14:33What I'm saying is he just touched my money and went through three different four compartments, and I seen him put it in between his legs.
14:38Suddenly, the accused officer's left hand reappears in full view.
14:44Officer Chapman exits the cruiser and positions himself in front of the driver's door.
14:51I'm going to show you right here.
14:53Look.
14:54Look.
14:55Look.
14:56Look at me, though.
14:57As he empties his pockets to prove he has no cash on him.
15:00If I didn't do anything, I have nothing that I'm worried about.
15:03You know what I'm saying?
15:04There will be no reason for him to show me his pockets and stuff.
15:06Like, I know for a fact.
15:07Now, I want you to feel comfortable.
15:09Yes.
15:10Yes, sir.
15:11I wouldn't feel comfortable if your colleagues would have searched you at the exact time where I knew where the money was.
15:17I seen you kept going in between your legs.
15:19But the suspect isn't convinced by his theatrics and knows what he saw.
15:24Every time everybody put all of the attention on me, I don't know if it's in your door.
15:30I don't know where it's at.
15:31The allegation is serious enough that a sergeant wearing this body camera decides to search Chapman's cruiser.
15:39Do you see anything?
15:40No.
15:41Yeah.
15:42Look.
15:43No cap.
15:44I'm not even going to touch it.
15:45It's Blue 100s right here.
15:46All the Blue 100s are right there behind that receipt.
15:48All that's my money.
15:49The supervisor pulls a wad of $100 bills from the door of Chapman's patrol car.
15:53This is your money?
15:54Yes.
15:55I heard him crumble it up.
15:58Officer Chapman looks like a kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
16:03That ain't my money.
16:04That's my money.
16:05That's my money.
16:06That's my money right here.
16:07Sir, you've been watching me the whole time.
16:09I've seen you take it.
16:10I've seen you crumble it.
16:11Sir, that is not me.
16:12His argument doesn't make much sense.
16:15He claims to know nothing about the stack of cash just removed from his car.
16:20Even though he confiscated money from this man during arrest.
16:23I'm sorry.
16:24No sir.
16:25I wasn't trying to expose him.
16:26That is not me, bud.
16:28While officers complete paperwork on the suspect and the cash, Chapman pleads his case
16:34to the motor officer in the sally port.
16:36I wasn't stealing it.
16:37I did take it out and I forgot I put it in the damn door.
16:40Okay.
16:41Well, I would probably go talk to the sergeant.
16:43As Chapman heads off to sort things out with the sergeant, the motor officer, who was
16:47there during the arrest, has a word with the suspect.
16:50What did he try to tell you when he walked over?
16:53He was claiming that he didn't try to steal it.
16:56But we all saw what we saw.
17:01The sergeant then heads upstairs to speak with Chapman.
17:07So, like, this is what's going to happen, right?
17:09We have people coming in.
17:10Obviously, they have to talk to you, all right?
17:13So, I'm going to have to hold on to your weapon real quick, okay?
17:17Yep.
17:18Go ahead.
17:19Just take the whole holster off.
17:22The supervisor relieves Chapman of his service weapon.
17:25The gravity of the situation is not wasted on the officer, who apologizes for letting the
17:30department down.
17:31I just want to apologize to everyone I see, man, one of these things, dude.
17:38In the early morning hours the following day, Chapman is taken into custody for
17:42investigators.
17:44Chapman resigned his position as a police officer after his arrest.
17:49He was charged with embezzlement in exchange for an Alford plea through which a defendant pleads guilty
17:55without admitting to the crime.
17:57Chapman was sentenced to two years probation.
17:59He's ineligible for another position in law enforcement.
18:03The arrestee's traffic infraction was dismissed.
18:06He's still awaiting the outcome of his pending weapon charges.
18:10And finally, everybody knows the saying, money can't buy happiness.
18:24Well, apparently it can't buy class either.
18:27Next, on this edition of Crime Camp, Rich People Behaving Badly.
18:32San Diego, California.
18:38Sunday, March 10th, 2024.
18:424.37 PM.
18:44The San Diego Marina is chock full of private docking spaces, including this one owned by a
18:52boat rental company.
18:54Today, a bystander is filming while the owner of this custom $4.8 million Lamborghini yacht
19:01goes on a tirade for being refused docking on a private slip.
19:07Rather than just following the rules and moving on, he takes a different approach.
19:13I will kill you.
19:16It seems a little drastic to threaten death over a docking spot.
19:20But if you're used to the finer things in life, one doesn't take no for an answer.
19:25I will kill you.
19:28Despite the threats, it seems like the yacht owner is more bark than bite.
19:33And the dock worker knows it.
19:37I will kill you.
19:38I will kill you.
19:41Rather than waste his energy screaming, the young man takes expressing his feelings more economically.
19:49As the yacht pulls away from the dock, the owner makes one more veiled threat of violence.
19:59But a guy like this doesn't make barrels of cash by doing things halfway.
20:06He's going to really make his point.
20:14By dropping his pants and taking out his dinghy.
20:24A crowd off camera, including children, expressed their understandable disgust at the scene.
20:39The police arrived at the marina minutes after the vessel departed, but didn't have any trouble identifying the one-of-one yacht or its owner, 50-year-old AJ Thakur.
20:51Thakur is a tech entrepreneur and self-proclaimed professional gambler who goes by the moniker Ace Rogers.
20:59Thakur was charged with one count of indecent exposure.
21:02His case is pending in San Diego Superior Court.
21:06Man overboard.
21:11Way overboard.
21:14That's all for this edition of Crime Cam 24-7.
21:17I'm Sean Sticks Larkin.
21:18Thanks for watching.
