00:00But let's get started with our big story, which is a sports wagering story today and a massive, massive fine via the Caesar Sportsbook.
00:09$100,000, they're going to have to pay courtesy of the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
00:15Why? Well, a tech failure allowed a better named Jeffrey Sacco to exploit their system and deposit over $2.1 million without actually using real funds.
00:27How did it happen? He placed nearly 10,000 bets worth over $88 million in 16 days, ultimately withdrawing only about $600,000 before he ceased activity.
00:39Caesars did self-report the issue, cooperated with law enforcement.
00:42They also took steps with third-party account management to prevent this happening in the future.
00:47But following a criminal investigation, this individual was charged with eight felonies and sentenced to three months in jail and three years probation.
00:54He also has to obviously repay Caesars, starting with $25,000 payments and installments of $2,500 during his probation.
01:02So something slipping through the cracks of that magnitude is going to result in a fine.
01:08Last night, wild game right down to the finish.
01:11And the Lions, as a five-point underdog, go into Baltimore, win the game outright, 38-30.
01:16The final in this one, a huge game for David Montgomery on the ground with the longest run of the NFL season, also ended up scoring a couple of times.
01:26A key fumble by Derrick Henry at the end of the game led to the final score of the Lions, and the Ravens end up losing this one at home.
01:34A team effort truly on offense and defense, says head coach Dan Campbell.
01:39We're going to need each other to find a way to win this game.
01:43You know, the offense was going to need the defense to pick it up.
01:46Special teams was going to need the offense to pick it up, and vice versa.
01:49So, man, I thought we played complementary football.
01:53We did exactly what we said we needed to do.
01:55We were able to corral Lamar.
01:57We didn't let Henry get going and Zay Flowers.
02:00You know, we came away with takeaways and big stops.
02:03You know, and offensively, we were able to control the ground and the time of possession,
02:12and our receivers and golf made plays in critical moments in this game.
02:17I just thought it was an outstanding team effort, man.
02:20It's big, and they were all due to our O-line.
02:22I think, I don't know how many times we ran it on the 98-yard one.
02:25It felt like we just kept running the ball, and then Demo obviously had the long run on the other one.
02:29But, yeah, those guys up front tonight were incredible, and they were grinding.
02:33They were tired on some of those long drives, and they were tired, and the D-line was more tired.
02:37So, it was good to just see them keep pushing, keep going, and those were huge drives.
02:44First week of international games, by the way, coming up this week,
02:47and we got some news yesterday as the Minnesota Vikings are getting set for their second game,
02:52and it looks like that's going to be without J.J. McCarthy.
02:56Yesterday, Kevin O'Connell essentially took it head-on, saying, as of right now,
03:01it's the Carson Wentz show.
03:03McCarthy ruled out for their international game coming up this weekend,
03:06and no decisions, by the way, firmly being made in the future.
03:11Yeah, I think, you know, first and foremost, he's got to get healthy.
03:15And then throughout that process, it's not just, I don't think,
03:19it's one of those things where it's, hey, the day he's healthy,
03:22and if he's healthy the night before a game, we're going to just throw him out there
03:26and say, hey, you know, go figure it out type of thing.
03:29I think we saw, you know, as phenomenal as he was getting prepared for the Atlanta game,
03:35he did miss practice that week.
03:38And when you're in the phasing of building up the 10,000 reps
03:42and 10,000 hours of what it takes to play the position at a very high level,
03:46which we know J.J. McCarthy is going to do, you can't cut corners on that.
03:51And that also doesn't require an answer on that question today.
03:56I think our goal was to win a football game yesterday.
03:59We're in the day after that.
04:01We've had our players in.
04:02We're preparing for another, you know, top-tier opponent.
04:06And I think we've got to have another really good week of preparation.
04:10And then you add on the layers to travel and making sure our players have the utmost confidence
04:15in how we're handling the trip and building it, you know, progressively throughout the week
04:20until we get another opportunity, which we're really excited about.
04:24Injuries, also the story around the NFL with Nick Bosa missing yet more time on an NFL field.
04:30He's been hurt over the last few years and no stranger to injuries.
04:33He's out for the season.
04:35It was announced yesterday.
04:36Boza, of course, suffering the injury on Sunday, pointed thumbs down to his family in the stands.
04:41So this was not a huge surprise.
04:43The 49ers, by the way, have been up against it with a ton of injuries, including Jawan Jennings,
04:47who missed last week.
04:48But the good news is Kyle Shanahan said yesterday that he does expect quarterback Brock Purdy
04:54to practice this week.
04:56So he certainly will have a chance to play.
04:58Also, just recently announced NFL Network reports that Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
05:03has a hamstring injury.
05:05He's going to miss multiple weeks.
05:07As far as the New York Giants are concerned, can't score on offense.
05:10So naturally, the questions are going to come.
05:12Is it time for a change at quarterback?
05:14Head coach Brian Dable is leaving the door open right now.
05:18It would appear Jackson Dart has a chance to start this weekend.
05:22Everybody's got to be, you know, doing exactly the right stuff.
05:25So it's not all on one guy.
05:30You know, there's multiple reasons why, you know, certain plays didn't, you know,
05:34come out the way we wanted them to come out.
05:36And we'll continue to do that.
05:39So Russ remains the starter moving forward?
05:42Yeah.
05:42I mean, we're working.
05:43We're working through, you know, all personnel decisions.
05:46And we'll do that over the next few days.
05:48You're not saying Russ is the starter, right?
05:50You're saying you're still working through that?
05:51Yeah, we're doing what we normally do, which is, you know, watch the tape.
05:56We're just watching it with the players right now.
05:57So, you know, we'll have staff meetings after this.
06:01But we watch the – when we come in, we watch the tape.
06:06Offense, defense, kicking game as a staff.
06:08And then we go meet with the players.
06:09That's where we're at right now.
06:11When you say what you normally do, most Monday afternoons,
06:13you know your quarterbacks are going to be the upcoming week
06:15if everyone's healthy, though.
06:16It just seems a little different, your responses.
06:19Yeah.
06:19Well, look, we're going through the tape right now.
06:21We're evaluating everything.
06:23So quarterback change is on the table.
06:25I'd say we're evaluating everything.
06:29Good questions.
06:30Couldn't get the answer they were looking for.
06:32All right.
06:32C.D. Lamb also injured in the Cowboys game against the Bears over the weekend.
06:36He's going to miss three to four weeks with a high ankle sprain.
06:40The Packers, you know, certainly not happy with talks of an undefeated season
06:44ahead of their loss in Cleveland.
06:46Well, I just think this league is such a week-to-week league,
06:49and you can never lose sight of that, and you can't take any moment,
06:52any game for granted.
06:54And the goal, and I've said it a million times to you guys,
06:56I don't think I've obviously said it enough to our team.
06:58The goal is to go 1-0 every week.
07:01And it pisses me off when we start talking about things outside of the next game,
07:06things that are way down the road.
07:07Like, focus on, keep the focus on the present, on the now,
07:12and worry about getting better each and every day.
07:15In retirement and college basketball ahead of the upcoming season
07:18that begins late next month, Bruce Pearl has decided to hang it up.
07:22His son, Stephen, is going to be the next head coach at Auburn.
07:25Pearl won 463 career Division I games.
07:28He was four-time SEC Coach of the Year.
07:31He's got two Final Four appearances and won the most games ever as a head coach at Auburn.
07:37Great career for Bruce Pearl, probably gets into media, would be my guess.
07:41All right, in college football, the ACC has fined Syracuse $25,000
07:45for faking injuries in the fourth quarter with nine minutes to go.
07:50Some shady business going on there.
07:52Also, Alabama's running back, Jan Miller, and defensive lineman Tim Keenan
07:55look like they're going to play against Georgia.
07:57And Mike Gundy, regardless of these awful results at Oklahoma State,
08:01says he wants to keep coaching.
08:02We'll see.
