00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05High pressure firmly in charge through the next few days and what that means, fine by day and by night it will turn chilly.
00:11The exception possibly down towards the southeast where that breeze continues delivering showers through today into tonight
00:18and we continue to see this area being affected by weather from the near continent as we head through the week.
00:24At the same time, high pressure drifts towards Scandinavia through Wednesday into Thursday
00:29and this weather front here remains just off the scene, it's a slow-moving band of clouds and rain but all change into the weekend.
00:38For the time being, we pick up on that wind, particularly along the coasts of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex as well as Kent
00:44and some showers affecting these parts. One or two showers could drift in across the Yorkshire coast, Northumberland coast, Lincolnshire
00:51and one or two showers also for Shetland.
00:54Elsewhere, it's a dry night, it's a fine night but temperatures plummeting quite quickly.
01:00It's going to be a cold one. Even with one or two mist and fog patches, the winds remain light.
01:05So let's take a look at the temperatures through the early hours of the morning.
01:09Lowest temperature is always just about half an hour after sunrise.
01:12You can see 3 degrees for Inverness, 7 for Birmingham, 6 for Belfast but across rural spots, even lower than that.
01:19So a touch of frost can't be ruled out. First thing then tomorrow morning, a little more cloud across northern England.
01:25The chance of a very light fleeting shower. Still that keen breeze coming down towards the Dover Straits there.
01:32But for most, it's a dry day and it's a pleasant one.
01:35And despite the fact it will be a chilly start through the afternoon, once the sun gets to work,
01:40temperatures rising quite nicely, feeling pleasantly warm in that sunshine relative to the time of year.
01:46So coming in at the very best, probably around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
01:51That cloud just comes and goes through the afternoon but melts away through evening time.
01:56So let's pick up on those temperatures across the country.
01:59Certainly for Scotland, you could see 16 or 17, so slightly higher than today.
02:05Further south, 17, 18, perhaps a 19 in shelter.
02:09For Northern Ireland, 15 or 16 degrees Celsius.
02:12But look at this breeze coming in from the North Sea along the Lincolnshire coast down towards Kent, even Sussex.
02:19Now through Wednesday evening and overnight, again, some clearer skies.
02:23Temperatures falling away.
02:24The chance of some rural frost.
02:27Winds remain fairly light inland, so again, there could be some mist and fog patches.
02:32Notice this weather front still close by.
02:34So into Thursday, more clouds across the Outer Hebrides.
02:37And more cloud also for the far south east of England, where there's a chance of one or two showery bursts.
02:42But for most, it's a dry day.
02:44That breeze continues across these parts elsewhere.
02:46A lighter wind, but you'll find the wind picking up towards the west.
02:50A southerly breeze coming in from a mild direction.
02:53So temperatures probably a degree higher than what we've seen through the week.
02:5717 to 19 degrees Celsius.
02:59So that's the picture on Thursday.
03:02On Friday, it will be a mix of sunshine as well as some cloud.
03:08More cloud possibly across central southern parts of England.
03:11For most, though, it's a bright afternoon after a cool start.
03:15And temperatures typically around the mid-teens all change into the weekend.
