00:00After making TNT proud on the world stage, heroes Keyshawn Walcott and Jareem Richards returned home from Tokyo.
00:07Walcott earned gold in the javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships, his first at that level, to complement his two Olympic medals.
00:15His throw of 88.16 meters did the trick for him, having made a lot of sacrifices.
00:20For me, I have to say that it's been a long, long journey of trying, trying, trying, trying.
00:32After 2012, I believe that the World Championship should have come a lot easier.
00:38And I feel like if I'm to stand here today to tell anyone that being a professional athlete, being an athlete who is just vying for any sort of medal,
00:47whether it be Worlds, whether it be Olympics, it's not yours.
00:53And you could never go there and say that, OK, this medal belongs to me, I train hard.
00:57After his accomplishment, many would want to know if Walcott is going to represent his country in the 2028 Olympics.
01:04Time will tell if the 32-year-old Toko lad is going to be in L.A.
01:07At the end of the day, I would say everybody knows inside here that I'm no longer the youngest person in the room.
01:12But at the end of the day, our main focus is taking things year by year.
01:18So we're going to focus on next year, which is other competitions, CSC, Commonwealth, and we're going to move from there.
01:25So I cannot, I would not allow myself to go into that place where I would think about Olympics in 2028,
01:31because why would I stress myself thinking about something that I have no control over.
01:36So not knowing if I would make it there or not, but yes, the goal would be to represent my country at L.A.
01:43For Richards, it was his third medal at the World Championships, having earned two in 2017, including gold in the relays that year.
01:53He too went through a lot to earn silver this time around in the 400-meter race in a time of 43.72 seconds.
01:59You know, sometimes as human beings, we would like to set the bar low so that you don't get disappointed.
02:06I was on the fence sometimes about that feeling like, you know what, I don't want to set my hopes too high because I don't want to disappoint myself.
02:15I just say glory to God because I've been praying a lot.
02:18My family has been praying a lot.
02:19I've been working very hard, but praying and asking God to let my will align with his will.
02:26Sports Minister Philip Watts was also at the VIP lounge at the Piako International Airport, where the athletes were given a warm reception.
02:34Like the citizens of TNT, he also lauded the two for their accomplishments in Japan.
02:38Kishon, I've known you from the age of 12 years old.
02:45Yeah, 12 years old.
02:47And seeing you so once again to the top of the podium with your gold medal has reminded us of the power of discipline, perseverance, and excellence.
02:58You have written yet another golden chapter in our nation's sporting story.
03:03And Jareem, your silver medal performance has been nothing short of inspiring.
03:10With courage, heart, and determination, you stood shoulder to shoulder with the world's best and brought home glory for Trinidad and Tobago.
03:18Afterwards, a presentation was made to the gold and silver medalists for a job well done.
03:24When would you know why I need to use export?
