00:00Yesterday's double medal strike in Tokyo was the fourth time Trinidad and Tobago has taken home two medals or more at the World Championships.
00:08Bowling 2009 saw us bringing home three medals, but Tokyo 2025 is the most successful with gold and silver in the bag,
00:17taking TNT's all-time World Championships medal hall to 17.
00:21And considering this country's success at the Games, Jereem Richards is hopeful it can inspire more success in the future.
00:28It's big medals. It's another time that Trinidad and Tobago are showing track and field is our number one sport.
00:36And it is the sport that continues to bring great recognition to our country.
00:41So I hope more people get involved in the sport, see how great it is, see how much talent we have.
00:47And hopefully this is momentum that grows our sport going forward.
00:52Richard is very happy with his silver medal and personal best, but forced to consider said what he could have done differently.
00:59It's hard to change because it was our first, not best.
01:02National record, everything, yeah.
01:03Yeah, so if I would say what I could change, maybe be a little bit more aggressive first 200 meters,
01:10then so being a little bit more aggressive the 300, maybe would have put me in closer proximity to gold.
01:19But all in all, I can't be mad at that execution. I think it's fastest time out of lane two.
01:25It's my second World Championship outdoor medal since 2017.
01:30So I'm just grateful to God for this medal.
01:33As for his transition from a 200 to 400 runner, Richard spoke on what was required to make his transformation a success.
01:40I'm more of a speed runner than a strength runner.
01:43So having to take time to build strength, something outside of what I'm naturally gifted with was probably the most difficult part.
01:50And even to this day, like some of the workouts, Coach Brahman will give me like those difficult workouts.
01:55And I don't look forward to them, but I keep telling myself that these workouts are going to help me in the long run.
02:01So, you know, sometimes in practice, there are certain things that you're just not good at, but those are the things that we need to focus on so that we become a better athlete.
02:10And that is just it for me.
02:13Terence Clark, TV6 Sport.
