00:00Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
00:02Ar-Rahmani Ar-Raheem
00:04Maliki Yawmiddin
00:06Master of the Day of Recompense
00:08This is also why
00:10Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
00:12Because he is the Master of the Day of Recompense
00:15Maliki, as I told you, is from the root letters
00:18Meme, Lamb, Calf
00:19And Malik is used for
00:21Someone who has complete authority
00:23As well as ownership of something
00:26So what does it mean?
00:27That
00:28The Malik is someone
00:31Who is the greatest in rank
00:35In degree, in power
00:37There is no one who is above him
00:40You understand?
00:42Who is Malik?
00:43The one who is above all others
00:45In importance, in authority
00:48In power, in excellence, in virtue
00:50In every way
00:50So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
00:52He is the Malik of Yawmiddin
00:55Day of Recompense
00:57What is the Day of Recompense?
00:58It's the Day of Judgment
00:59But tell me something
01:00Is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
01:01Is Allah not Malik of Dunia as well?
01:04Is he not?
01:05Does he not own this Dunia?
01:07And those who are in it?
01:08Of course
01:09Does he not have complete authority
01:11To do whatever he wants?
01:13Of course he does
01:14So why is it said
01:16So why is it said
01:16Malik Yawmiddin only here?
01:19Why do you think so?
01:22Yes
01:22Okay, good
01:23That we see a correlation
01:25Between Ar-Rahman and Malik Yawmiddin
01:28That you recognize your Lord
01:30As the one who is very merciful
01:31But at the same time
01:32Don't forget that he is also
01:33The master
01:34Of the day when you'll be recompensed
01:36Don't get deceived
01:38Because of his generosity
01:39Like Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
01:41Says
01:41Ya ayyul insan
01:42That we see that in this Dunia
01:45There are many people
01:46Who claim to be Malik as well
01:48Isn't it?
01:49So many Malik
01:50So many Kings
01:51So many leaders
01:52So many people who have ownership
01:54Of one thing or the other
01:55One person is an owner of
01:57A huge piece of land
01:58Huge property
01:59Another person has
02:01A lot of authority
02:02But we see that
02:04All of this authority
02:05That people have in this Dunia
02:06Will finish
02:07And the ownership
02:10Of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
02:12That will become
02:12Very very manifest
02:14On the day of judgment
02:15The presidents of this Dunia
02:17Will not be presidents
02:18In the year after
02:18People who have property
02:21Ownership today
02:22They cannot carry on
02:24Their ownership and property
02:25To the day of judgment
02:26Isn't it so?
02:28Why?
02:29Because on the day of judgment
02:30This Dunia will be finished
02:31A person may be
02:32The richest person in this world
02:33But on the day of judgment
02:35If he doesn't have good deeds
02:36Then what is he?
02:38Nothing
02:38He has nothing
02:39My wealth did not benefit me
02:46And my Sultan
02:47My authority
02:48I've lost it
02:49So the wealth
02:51The authority that people have
02:53In this Dunia
02:53It will finish
02:54But on the day of judgment
02:55Only Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
02:57Authority and ownership
02:59Will be visible
03:00This is why we learn
03:01In the Quran
03:02In surah Ghafir
03:03Ayah 15 to 17
03:04Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
03:05Says
03:05That on the day of judgment
03:06Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
03:07Will say
03:08لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمُ
03:10لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمُ
03:13To whom does mulk
03:14Belong to today
03:16To whom does authority
03:18Belong to today
03:19No one will dare to respond
03:21And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
03:22Will respond himself
03:23لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَارِ
03:24To Allah
03:26The one
03:27Al-Qahar
03:28The irresistible
03:28So on the day of judgment
03:30His authority
03:32Will be most visible
03:34Most manifest
03:35Because in this dunya
03:37What happens is
03:38We know that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
03:40Is the master
03:41He is the owner
03:42Right
03:42But we tend to forget that
03:44We tend to forget that
03:46Why?
03:47When we see
03:47The rich and the powerful
03:49In this dunya today
03:50This is why
03:51When we see the rich and powerful
03:52We get afraid of them
03:54And we forget fearing Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
03:57Which is why we obey them
03:58And we disobey Allah
03:59Isn't it so?
04:01Think about it
04:02Isn't it so?
04:03So
04:03مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّين
04:05Master
04:06Of the day
04:07Of recompense
04:08Now the word
04:09الدِّين
04:09الدِّين
04:11What does it mean?
04:12Recompense
04:13The day of judgment
04:14Has many different names
04:16يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ
04:18الْقَارِعَةِ
04:19الْآخِرَةِ
04:21يَوْمُ الْآخِرَةِ
04:22The last day
04:23يَوْمُ الْحِسَابِ
04:24The day of accounting
04:26الطَّابْمَةُ الْكُبْرَةِ
04:28يَوْمُ الْحَسْرَةِ
04:30The day of regret
04:31So the day of judgment
04:32Has many many different names
04:33Over here Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala uses the word
04:35يَوْمِ الدِّين
04:37The word دِين is from دَالْ يَا نُون
04:39دَانَ يَدِينُ
04:41And دَانَ يَدِينُ
04:42Is to give someone recompense
04:44For what they have done
04:45What is recompense?
04:47Payback
04:47So if a person has done well
04:50If a person has done good
04:52You reward them
04:54For their good action
04:55And if someone has done bad
04:58Then how would you pay them back
05:00For their action?
05:01With reward or punishment?
05:03Punishment
05:04So يَوْمِ الدِّينُ
05:05It's the day when people will be rewarded
05:07Or they will be punished
05:10And how will they be rewarded or punished?
05:13According to their actions
05:15If a person has done good
05:17He will see that good
05:19If a person has done bad
05:21He will see that bad
05:23If a person has done a little good
05:26He will see that little good
05:28If a person has done a lot of good
05:30He will see that good
05:32If a person has done a little evil
05:34He will see that little evil
05:35And if a person has done a lot of evil
05:38He will see that too
05:39He will see that too
05:41What does this ayah show to us?
05:44What does this show to us?
05:46مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينُ
05:48When you think about يَوْمِ الدِّينُ
05:49What do you understand?
05:52That we should be careful about
05:54Every action we do
05:55Every action we do
05:58We'll be paid for it
05:59We'll be held accountable for it
06:02We will be recompensed for it
06:04We haven't been sent in this dunya
06:06Without any reason
06:08We haven't been sent to this dunya
06:10Without a purpose
06:12No!
06:13Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala questions us
06:14أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدَى
06:17In Surah Al-Qiyamah Ayah 36
06:19That does man think
06:21That he will be left neglected?
06:23Meaning no one's gonna hold him accountable
06:25For what he's doing
06:26What he's saying
06:26How he's behaving
06:27Does he think like that?
06:30What he thinks is wrong
06:31Because every single person
06:33Will be held accountable
06:34For what he or she is doing
06:36Therefore we should worry
06:38We should really worry
06:39About the words we say
06:41We should really be careful
06:44About the actions we do
06:46We should be very concerned
06:48About how we talk to other people
06:51How we deal with them
06:53Because for every action
06:55We are going to be recompensed
06:56We are going to be paid for it
06:57So Maliki Yawm al-Din
07:00Master of the day of recompense
07:02Iyyaka na'budu
07:04You alone we worship
07:06Wa iyyaka nasta'een
07:08And you alone we ask for help
07:10Iyyaka na'budu
07:12Na'budu is from ibadah
07:14And what does ibadah mean?
07:16Worship
07:17In the Arabic language however
07:18The word ibadah
07:19It doesn't just mean worship
07:21It has a very deep meaning
07:23And ibadah
07:24It means
07:26At-tadhallul lillah
07:28To show humility
07:31One's smallness
07:34Before who?
07:37Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
07:38To make oneself small
07:40That I am nothing
07:42To humble oneself
07:44I need you
07:46I need your help
07:47To make oneself small
07:50To humble oneself
07:51Before Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
07:52This is what ibadah is
07:54This is why
07:55Scholars have said
07:57That ibadah includes two things
07:58First of all
08:00It includes
08:01Doing whatever
08:03That Allah has commanded
08:04And secondly
08:07Staying away from
08:08Whatever that Allah has forbidden
08:10Because when will you
08:12Obey Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
08:14When will you do
08:15Whatever that He has commanded you?
08:17When you make yourself
08:18Small
08:19When you make yourself small
08:22When you lower
08:23When you submit
08:24If you say
08:25No, I'm not gonna do this
08:26Is that making yourself small?
08:29Is that making yourself humble?
08:31Not at all
08:32So ibadah includes two things
08:34Doing whatever
08:35That Allah has commanded
08:36And secondly
08:37Staying away
08:38From whatever
08:38That Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
08:40Has forbidden
08:40Iyyaka na'budu
08:42And
08:43Just remember
08:45The word ibadah
08:46When you think about
08:48The word ibadah
08:49ibadah
08:49ibadah is used for
08:50A slave
08:51Who is a slave?
08:53An ibadah is a slave
08:55A servant who is owned
08:57By his master
08:58He is not hired
09:00But rather he is owned
09:02Is there a difference
09:03Between being hired
09:04And being owned?
09:05If you're hired
09:06You can say
09:06I quit
09:07But if you're owned
09:09Can you say
09:09I quit?
09:10No
09:11You're like some people
09:12They have a very mean boss
09:13And they're just waiting
09:14For the day
09:14When they can just
09:15Go up to their boss
09:16And say
09:16I quit
09:17There you go
09:18Give me a command
09:20And I'll do it
09:21No
09:21Right?
09:22So
09:22A person who is hired
09:24Can walk away any moment
09:25But a person who is
09:26Owned
09:27A slave
09:27He can never ever walk away
09:29And a slave
09:30What is his job description?
09:32Do whatever that the master has commanded
09:34Whether you're tired
09:35Or sleeping
09:36Or hungry
09:37It doesn't matter
09:39You're gonna do it
09:40And if the master has said
09:42Don't do this
09:43You're never gonna do it
09:44No matter who forces you
09:45No matter who tells you
09:46So all of us are who?
09:49Ibadah
09:49The servants of Allah
09:51So if we are the servants of Allah
09:53Then what does it mean we have to do?
09:56If Allah gives a command
09:58What should our response be?
10:01I'm sorry I find it too difficult
10:02I choose not to do this
10:05Can we say that?
10:07Can we?
10:08There's no way we can say that
10:09Because we are owned by Allah
10:11And you see
10:13Just like a slave
10:14When he is owned by his master
10:15He cannot hide from the master
10:17He cannot go anywhere
10:18He cannot
10:18Because the master has complete authority over him
10:21Perhaps a slave can run away from the master
10:23Okay
10:24But can we run away from Allah
10:26Subhanahu wa ta'ala
10:26We can never run away
10:28Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
10:29Challenges us
10:30In surah ar-Rahman
10:31To both human beings and the jinn
10:34That if you are capable
10:36Of getting out of the heavens and the earth
10:39Then try
10:40You can never do that
10:41You can never do that
10:43It's not possible for you
10:44So if we say
10:45I choose not to do this
10:47I'm sorry
10:48I cannot follow this part of the religion
10:50You think you're gonna be left neglected
10:53No
10:54Allah has complete authority over us
10:56In this dunya
10:57And if Allah does not hold us accountable now
10:59Does not recompense us for our actions now
11:01He has
11:02يوم الدين
11:03When he alone will be the Malik
11:06Maliki يوم الدين
11:07Whatever he decides on that day
11:09Will happen
11:11Our choice does not matter
11:12Somebody else's request does not matter
11:14Because he is Maliki يوم الدين
11:16This is why it's so important
11:18That
11:18إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ
11:19You alone we worship
11:21And remember
11:23إِبَادة
11:23What does it mean?
11:24أَتَذَلُّ لِلَّهِ
11:25To make oneself small
11:26To humble oneself before Allah
11:28And this is why
11:30When we worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
11:32What do we do?
11:33We put the most honorable part of our body
11:35Where?
11:36On the ground
11:37The most honorable part of our body
11:40What is that?
11:40Our face
11:41But to show humility before Allah
11:44What do we do?
11:45We put it where feet are
11:46We put it on the ground
11:49And we do this before who?
11:51إِيَّاكَ
11:52Only you
11:53Only Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
11:54Would we ever do something like that
11:56For another person?
11:58Would you ever put your head on the ground
11:59For another person?
12:00Even if somebody pays you
12:02You wouldn't do that
12:02You're like
12:03Why me?
12:03Who do you think you are?
12:05Why do you expect me to do this?
12:07Don't walk over me
12:08Isn't it so?
12:10We never ever like to humble ourselves
12:12Before people
12:13This is why
12:14إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ
12:15You alone we worship
12:16Now I told you
12:18Ibadah includes two things
12:19Doing whatever Allah has commanded
12:20And staying away from
12:21Whatever that Allah has forbidden
12:22That's a bit difficult
12:26Is it not?
12:28It's a huge responsibility
12:29It's something very difficult
12:31This is why
12:32You see the next part of the ayah
12:33وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينَ
12:37You alone we ask for help
12:39We know
12:41We understand
12:42That we're only to worship you
12:44We are to obey you
12:45We are not to disobey you
12:47But as human beings
12:49We are weak
12:50And we need the help of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
12:52For example
12:54When it comes time to pray
12:55Are we not supposed to get up and pray?
12:58Yes
12:58Because إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ
12:59Whatever Allah has commanded
13:00Do it
13:01Allah has commanded you
13:02To pray right now
13:03He wants to get up and pray
13:03However
13:04You're in your nice and cozy and warm bed
13:07Who wants to get up right now?
13:10It's difficult
13:11This is why
13:11إِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينَ
13:12So when you find it difficult to pray
13:14When you find it difficult to do
13:16Anything of the religion
13:17What should you do?
13:17Ya Allah help me
13:18Give me the ability
13:21Give me the strength
13:22Give me the courage
13:23إِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينَ
13:25You alone we ask for help
13:27And you see
13:28عبادة
13:29Remember
13:29That it doesn't just refer to rituals
13:32Ibadah
13:34Worship doesn't just refer to rituals
13:36It doesn't just refer to
13:37You know
13:37Performing the salat
13:38Giving the zakat
13:39Staying away from eating haram
13:40No
13:41Ibadah includes
13:43Every good deed
13:45Every good word
13:46That a person does
13:47In a way that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
13:48Likes him to do it
13:49And he does it for the sake of Allah
13:51So for example
13:52You're coming here to seek knowledge
13:54You're coming here
13:56Sacrificing your weekends
13:58To study the book of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
14:00If you do it
14:02For the sake of Allah
14:03Then what is this act?
14:05What is this act?
14:06Ibadah
14:07Worship
14:08But
14:09Is it not difficult to come?
14:13You might say no
14:13For some people it might be
14:15And it's quite possible
14:17That after some time
14:18You might find it difficult
14:20Right now
14:21You know
14:21You're in the mood
14:22And you're like
14:22Yeah
14:22I'm gonna do this
14:23But after some time
14:24You're like
14:24I have to do my college
14:26My university
14:27Look after my home
14:28Whatever
14:29It's too difficult
14:30I can't do it
14:31It's quite possible
14:33That these difficulties
14:35Come in the way
14:35So when these difficulties
14:37Come in the way
14:37What do we do?
14:38Who do we turn to?
14:40Allah
14:40Iyyaka nasta'eem
14:42Ya Allah
14:42You help me
14:43You brought me here
14:44You take me through this
14:46I cannot do it
14:47Without your help
14:47I cannot do it
14:49Without your guidance
14:50And this is very true
14:51If Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's help
14:53Is not there
14:54We cannot do anything at all
14:57Little things would become impossible
15:00Waking up in the morning
15:02To pray
15:03Would become very difficult
15:04Taking five minutes out
15:06From your daily routine
15:08Would become difficult
15:09As we see it is difficult
15:11For many
15:11So when is a person
15:14Able to worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
15:16When he has
15:17The help of Allah
15:18This is why
15:19When you stand in prayer
15:20And you say
15:21Iyyaka na'budu
15:23Wa iyyaka nasta'een
15:24Say it from your heart
15:27You help me Allah
15:29Similarly
15:30You want to memorize your lesson
15:32One lady
15:32She raised up her hand
15:33It took her an hour
15:34To memorize the lesson
15:35She might get disappointed
15:36One hour
15:36And this is only surah al-fatiha
15:38Iyyaka nasta'een
15:40You alone we ask for help
15:42At these moments
15:44Don't give up
15:46Don't feel weak
15:47Don't complain
15:49But what should we do
15:50Turn to Allah
15:51Iyyaka nasta'een
15:53Iyyaka na'budu
15:54Wa iyyaka nasta'een
15:55You alone we worship
15:56And you alone
15:57We ask for help
15:59Now if you notice over here
16:01Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says
16:02Iyyaka na'budu
16:04Wa iyyaka nasta'een
16:05The word
16:06Nasta'een
16:07Is from
16:07A'een
16:07Wa a'un
16:08And a'un
16:08Is help
16:09And isti'ana
16:11Is to seek help
16:12From someone
16:13To seek
16:14Cooperation
16:15From someone
16:16For what?
16:17In order to do something
16:18In order to get some benefit
16:20In order to ward off
16:21Some harm
16:21We see in this ayah
16:24Iyyaka nasta'een
16:26You alone we ask for help
16:27Does it mean we cannot ask help
16:29From other people?
16:31If we say
16:31Iyyaka nasta'een
16:32You alone we ask for help
16:34Does it mean I cannot ask you for help
16:35I cannot ask her for help
16:36For something that I need?
16:38Is that what this means?
16:41In a way
16:41It's a bit tricky
16:44Isti'ana remember
16:46Is of two types
16:47Okay
16:49Isti'ana
16:50Seeking help
16:51Is of two types
16:51One is
16:53Tafweed
16:55Tafweed is
16:56To hand over your affair
16:58Entirely to someone
16:59So for example
17:01A person is
17:03Ill
17:04Unwell
17:05Sick
17:06So what do they do?
17:08They
17:08Are looking for someone
17:10Whom they can just
17:10Hand over their problem to
17:11And they say
17:12You just cure me
17:13You just fix me
17:13You just cure me
17:15You just fix me
17:16You just make me better
17:16Okay
17:18They don't rely
17:19On their own power
17:20They don't rely
17:21On their own ability
17:22They don't rely
17:23On anything
17:24They just rely
17:25On that being
17:26That you fix me
17:27You make this better for me
17:29Alright
17:30Now this
17:31Tafweed
17:31This kind of
17:32Isti'ana
17:33Is only permissible
17:34With who?
17:35Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
17:36The second type of
17:38Isti'ana
17:39Is
17:40Musharakah
17:42Which is cooperation
17:44That you ask someone
17:46To cooperate with you
17:47So that you and them together
17:49Can accomplish something
17:50For example
17:52I want to move this table
17:53And I realize
17:54I cannot move it myself
17:55So I ask you and you to come
17:56To help me
17:58Cooperate with me
17:59So that we can do it together
18:00Can we do this with people?
18:03Yes we can
18:04So in other words
18:06When it comes to seeking help
18:09We ask
18:11People for help
18:13In the matters
18:15That they can actually
18:16Help us with
18:17You understand?
18:20In the matters in which
18:21They can actually help us with
18:22They are able to help us
18:24They have the ability
18:26For example
18:27If a person is dead
18:28They are in the grave
18:30Can they do anything for you?
18:32They cannot
18:32Who can do something for you?
18:34Someone who is alive
18:34Someone who has the ability
18:35So we ask people
18:37For what they can do
18:38And we ask Allah
18:40Subhanahu wa ta'ala
18:40For what he can do
18:41And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
18:42Can do everything
18:44So
18:44Iyyaka nasta'een
18:45Iyyaka na'abudu
18:46Wa iyyaka nasta'een
18:47This is just like
18:48For example
18:49If you are sick
18:50You go to the doctor
18:52And you expect the doctor
18:54To diagnose what problem
18:56You are having
18:56And give you the medicine
18:57Alright?
18:59Now
19:00The doctor can give you the medicine
19:02But can the doctor cure you?
19:05Cure
19:05Is with who?
19:07Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
19:08Only he gives it
19:09You understand?
19:11So
19:11This is a very important thing
19:13That we must realize
19:14Because sometimes
19:14You know when we are sick
19:16When we are ill
19:17We just go to one another
19:18And we say
19:18Just make me better somehow
19:19And we teach it to our children as well
19:21If they get hurt
19:22Can you make me better?
19:23Can you make me better?
19:24Realize that we cannot
19:25Make other people better
19:26We can help them in some way
19:28Give them a kiss
19:29Give them a hug
19:30Give them some medicine
19:31Right?
19:32But we cannot
19:33Give the shifa
19:34That is only with who?
19:35Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
19:36So
19:36Iyyaka na'budu
19:37Wa iyyaka nasta'een
19:38Ihdina al-siratul mustaqeem
19:42Guide us to the straight path
19:44You see
19:45Whenever we are in some difficulty
19:47What do we learn in this ayah
19:48In the previous ayah
19:49That ask Allah for help?
19:52Make dua to Allah
19:53Turn to Allah
19:54And what's the first to add
19:55That Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala teaches us?
19:58What should we pray for?
19:59Ihdina al-siratul mustaqeem
20:00The right path
20:02The right way
20:03The word ihdina
20:04Is from the root letters
20:05Hadha aliyah
20:06From the word hidayah
20:07And hidayah is guidance
20:08And it means
20:09To show the way
20:11To point out the way
20:13To make the person walk on the way
20:16And make sure that they reach the destination
20:19For example
20:21You're lost somewhere
20:22You're going
20:22And you get lost
20:23You stop somewhere
20:25And you roll down your window
20:26And you ask a passerby
20:27Do you know where this street is?
20:29They tell you
20:29Go right
20:30Then go left
20:31Then go here
20:31And you'll find your place
20:32This is what?
20:34Just
20:34Pointing out what the way is
20:37Pointing out what you're supposed to do
20:38Another person says
20:40Follow me
20:41I'll take you there
20:42Is there a difference?
20:44Yes
20:44For example
20:45The GPS
20:45What does it do?
20:46It tells you turn right
20:47In 500 meters
20:49Turn left
20:49And it tells you
20:51Again and again
20:52To the point
20:52That it gets annoying sometimes
20:54Right?
20:55So
20:55Hidayah is what?
20:57To make sure
20:58That the person
20:58Reaches the destination
20:59So when we say here
21:01Ehdina al-sirak al-mustaqim
21:02We're not just asking for
21:03Ya Allah
21:03Tell us what the right way is
21:05But rather
21:05Give us the ability to
21:08Be on the right way as well
21:10This is why
21:12Scholars have said
21:12That hidayah is of two types
21:14One hidayah is
21:16Of irshad
21:17To point out
21:18What a person is supposed to do
21:20To give knowledge
21:21To give information
21:22Ilm
21:23Ilm al-nafi'
21:25Beneficial knowledge
21:26And the second type of hidayah
21:28Is hidayah tawfiq
21:29To give the ability
21:31To do what a person
21:32Is supposed to do
21:32Like for example
21:33Many times you know
21:34You're supposed to do
21:35You know you're supposed
21:35To do many things
21:36But are you able to do it?
21:38Not always
21:39So hidayah is
21:40One is to know
21:41Ilm
21:42And the other is
21:43Amal
21:44So when we say
21:45Ihdina assirat al-mustaqeem
21:46What are we asking for?
21:48Ilm al-nafi'
21:48As well as
21:49Amal salih
21:50We're asking Allah
21:51Subhanahu wa ta'ala
21:52For beneficial knowledge
21:53As well as
21:54The ability to
21:55Do good
21:57You understand?
22:00So ihdina assirat al-mustaqeem
22:02And assirat al-mustaqeem
22:03The right way
22:04Mustaqeem is from
22:05Qaf wa umeem
22:06Mustaqeem is that
22:07Which is straight
22:08That which is upright
22:09That which takes you
22:10To the destination
22:11What's our destination?
22:12What's our goal?
22:13To get to Jannah
22:14To earn the pleasure of Allah
22:15So oh Allah
22:16Tell us which way
22:18Leads to your pleasure
22:19And give us the ability
22:21To do that as well
22:23So we're asking for
22:25Ilm al-nafi'
22:27And secondly
22:28Amal salih
22:29Remember these two terms
22:30Ilm al-nafi'
22:32And secondly
22:32Amal salih
22:34So ihdina assirat al-mustaqeem
22:35Now what is the straight way?
22:37The straight way
22:38Is the way that Allah
22:39Subhanahu wa ta'ala
22:39Has taught
22:40The way that Allah
22:41Subhanahu wa ta'ala
22:42Has revealed to his messenger
22:43Sallallahu al-awasalam
22:44For example
22:45In surah al-an'am
22:46Ayah 153
22:47We learn
22:47Wa anna hada
22:49Sirati mustaqeeman
22:50Fattabi'uhu
22:52The messenger
22:53Sallallahu al-awasalam
22:54Was supposed to say
22:54That this is my way
22:56Which is straight
22:57Therefore follow it
22:59So the way that the messenger
23:01Sallallahu al-awasalam
23:01Lived according to
23:03The way that he taught
23:04What is that?
23:06The straight path
23:07What is the straight path?
23:09The way of the messenger
23:11Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
23:12And the next ayah
23:14Explains us very clearly
23:15About what the straight path is
23:17It is
23:17Siraat al-lazeena an'amta alayhim
23:20The path of those people
23:22On whom you
23:22Blessed
23:23What is the straight path?
23:26The path of those
23:27Whom Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
23:28Blessed
23:29An'amta
23:30An'amta is from ni'mah
23:32And as you know
23:32That ni'mah is a blessing
23:33But it is basically
23:35Anything that improves
23:36The condition of a person
23:37Whether it makes him rich
23:39Or it makes him healthier
23:40Or it makes him happier
23:42Which is why the word ni'mah
23:44Applies to good food
23:46It applies to
23:46A good environment
23:48That a person is living in
23:49It applies to
23:49Wealth that a person may have
23:51It applies to family members
23:52Anything that improves
23:54The condition of a person
23:55You understand?
23:57That is what ni'mah is
23:58And over here
23:59What's the blessing?
24:01Oh Allah show us the right way
24:03The way of those people
24:05On whom you blessed
24:06What's this blessing?
24:08This blessing is of deen
24:10Of religion
24:11This blessing is not about dunya
24:14That shows the way of those people
24:15Who became the richest in this world
24:17The happiest in this world
24:20No
24:21The way of those people
24:23On whom Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
24:24Showed favor
24:25And this favor is of deen
24:26Of Islam
24:27Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
24:29Called this religion of Islam
24:31His ni'mah
24:31اليوم أكملت لكم
24:33Deenكم
24:34Today I have completed your religion for you
24:37وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُ
24:38نِعْمَةِ
24:40I have perfected my blessing upon you
24:42نِعْمَةِ
24:43What is the ni'mah?
24:44Of Islam
24:45This religion
24:47سَصِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
24:49The path of those people
24:50On whom you are favored
24:51And think about it
24:53Who would Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
24:55Show favor to?
24:56The one whom He is
24:57Happy with
24:59Isn't it so?
25:00So the path of those people
25:02Whom you are
25:02Happy with
25:04غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ
25:06Not the path of those people
25:08Whom you were angry
25:09وَلَا ضَالِينَ
25:11Nor of those people
25:12Who were astray
25:12What does it mean by
25:13مَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ
25:14مَغْضُوبِ
25:14Is from غَضَب
25:15And غَضَب is such anger
25:17That translates into taking revenge
25:18Such anger
25:20That translates into taking revenge
25:22Alright?
25:24Or for example
25:25Into giving punishment
25:27Because if it's on the part of someone
25:29Who has authority
25:29Obviously it will be
25:30In the form of punishment
25:32So مَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ
25:33Are those who
25:34Earned the punishment of Allah
25:37Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
25:38Punished them
25:38But you remember that
25:40غَضَب
25:40Is not just that you're angry
25:42For no reason
25:42And therefore you punish the person
25:43No
25:44It is such anger
25:46That you have
25:48For someone
25:49When they have done something wrong
25:51And they knew
25:52They should not have done it
25:54You understand?
25:56What kind of anger is غَضَب?
25:58On a person
25:59Who does something wrong
26:01And they knew
26:02They should not have done it
26:03You told them not to do it
26:05You warned them
26:06You made it very clear to them
26:07Still they do it
26:08For example
26:10Your father gets you a cell phone
26:12And he tells you
26:14You're only allowed to use
26:15These many minutes
26:16Your bill should be limited to $25
26:19It must not exceed $25
26:22And what happens when the bill comes?
26:24Oh
26:24$35
26:26$50
26:27Is he going to be happy or upset?
26:30Upset
26:30He might punish you
26:32And say that's it
26:32You cannot have your phone anymore
26:34Is that justified?
26:37Is it justified?
26:38Yes
26:38Because he told you
26:40He warned you
26:41He made it very clear
26:42This is what غَضَب is
26:43So مَغْضُوبَ عَلَيْهِمَ
26:45Are those whom Allah
26:46told what they were supposed to do
26:48What they were not supposed to do
26:49Yet they did it anyway
26:50They did the wrong
26:51They disobeyed
26:52And as a result
26:52Allah punished them
26:54This is referring to
26:57All those people
26:58Who have earned
26:59The punishment of Allah
27:00The anger of Allah
27:01Whether it was the people of Nuh
27:02Allah sent the messenger to them
27:06They didn't believe in the messenger
27:07Therefore they were drowned
27:08Similarly Fir'aun and his people
27:10They didn't believe in the messenger
27:12They didn't follow
27:12They disobeyed
27:13The guidance was very clear
27:15So they were punished
27:17So it's not just one nation
27:19It's any nation
27:20But just think about it
27:22We're not talking about
27:23You know people of the past
27:24Let's relate this with ourselves
27:26Who is مَغْضُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ
27:27Those who know
27:29What they're not supposed to do
27:30Yet they do it
27:31Anyway
27:32Those who know
27:33What they're supposed to do
27:34Yet they
27:34Don't do it
27:36What is عِبَادَة?
27:37You do what you're supposed to
27:39You don't do what you're not supposed to
27:40مَغْضُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ
27:41Opposite of that
27:42We need to ask ourselves over here
27:45We need to question ourselves over here
27:48Whatever I know
27:50About the commands of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
27:52Do I follow them?
27:54Do I follow them?
27:56If I don't follow them
27:57What am I bringing upon myself?
28:00The pleasure of Allah
28:01Or the anger of Allah?
28:03The anger of Allah
28:04So I want you to think about it
28:07Do this homework
28:08Reflect
28:09Whatever I know
28:11Do I live by it?
28:15Or do I prefer my own desire
28:17Over the commands of Allah?
28:20Because that's very dangerous
28:21وَلَا ضَالِّينَ
28:23الضَالِّينَ are those who are astray
28:25ضَلَال
28:26What does it mean by misguidance?
28:28What does it mean by ضَلَال?
28:29ضَلَال is when somebody
28:31Does something wrong
28:33Why?
28:33Out of ignorance
28:34And they choose to remain ignorant
28:37You understand?
28:39They do something wrong
28:41Why?
28:41On the basis of ignorance
28:42Because they don't know
28:43And they choose to remain like that
28:45They never bother to learn more
28:47So مَغْضُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ
28:49Who are they?
28:50They know but they don't do
28:51أَبْضَالِّينَ
28:53They don't know
28:54And they don't want to know
28:55So who is successful at the end?
28:58أَلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
29:00So this ayah shows to us
29:01That there are three types of people
29:03First of all
29:04Those whom Allah is happy with
29:07Who are they?
29:08Those who do what they're supposed to do
29:10Secondly
29:11Those whom Allah is angry with
29:14Who are they?
29:16Who are they?
29:17They know
29:18Yet they don't do
29:19And thirdly
29:21Those who don't know
29:22And they choose to not know
29:25What are we asking for?
29:28The way of those people who
29:29Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is happy with
29:31And who are these people?
29:32In surah al-nisa ayah 69
29:34Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says
29:35وَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولِ
29:38فَأُولَٰئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ
29:40أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ
29:42Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger
29:44They will be amongst those people
29:47Whom Allah showed favor
29:48أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ
29:51Who are they?
29:52The ayah tells us
29:53مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ
29:54First of all the prophets
29:55Write this down
29:56The prophets
29:57Obviously
29:58Who was Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
30:00Very happy with?
30:01His prophets
30:02For example the prophet
30:04He did whatever he was supposed to do
30:06And this is why we learn
30:08إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَا كَالْكَوْسَرُ
30:10Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
30:10Rewarded him so abundantly
30:12So first of all the prophets
30:13Secondly
30:14وَالصِّدِّقِينَ
30:15And the truthful ones
30:16Thirdly
30:17وَالشُهَدَاء
30:18And the martyrs
30:19Those who die in the way of Allah
30:21And fourthly
30:22وَالصَّالِحِينَ
30:23And those who are righteous
30:24So
30:26Such people
30:27Are successful
30:28And when we recite
30:29Surah
30:29At the end of the surah
30:31We say
30:32Ameen
30:32What does Ameen mean?
30:35Oh Allah
30:35Accept
30:36Oh Allah
30:38Accept
30:39So what does it show to us?
30:40That this surah
30:40Is also a
30:41Dua
30:42It begins with the praise of Allah
30:44Subhanahu wa ta'ala
30:45Alhamdulillah
30:47Rabbil alameen
30:48It reminds us
30:49Of our end
30:50Maliki yawmiddin
30:51It reminds us
30:53Of the purpose of our lives
30:55Iyyaka na'budu
30:56Wa iyyaka nasta'een
30:57And at the end
30:58We pray to Allah
31:00That ya Allah
31:00You show us the way
31:02You make us live on the way
31:03That you want
31:05That you like
31:06That you are pleased with
31:07May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
31:09Give us
31:10All of us
31:11Every single one of us
31:12The hidayah
31:14The ilm
31:15To be on
31:16Surat al-mustaqim
31:17And not just ilm
31:18But also
31:19Amal
31:20And may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
31:22Make us amongst those people
31:23Whom He is happy with
31:25In this dunya
31:25As well as the hereafter
31:27Subhanuqallahumma
31:28Wabihamdika
31:29Nashhadu an la ilaha illa anta
31:31Nastaghfiruka
31:32Wana tuubu ilayk
31:34Assalamualaikum
