00:00We pray for the Lord, and we pray for the Lord, and we pray for the Lord, and we pray for the Lord.
00:06In the name of God, and the Most Gracious, and the Most Merciful.
00:09Lord, give me my heart and give me my heart, and give me my heart.
00:14And I pray for the Lord, that I pray for the Lord.
00:16All right, so yesterday, we learned a little bit about Surah Al-Fatiha.
00:23I told you about the importance of Surah Al-Fatiha.
00:26And how the Surah is very unique.
00:31It's very different from the rest of the Surahs of the Qur'an.
00:34That it's so important that Salah is incomplete without the recitation of this Surah.
00:40Which shows how important the Surah is.
00:43There is a Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, from which we also learn about the importance of the Surah.
00:49This Hadith is narrated in Sahih Muslim.
00:52We learned that Ibn Abbas ﷺ, he narrated.
00:56That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, once he was sitting, and at the end of Jibreel, he was there.
01:03Remember that at the end of Jibreel, he would bring the revelation to the Prophet ﷺ.
01:07And he would also teach him, at the command of Allah ﷻ, the matters of the religion.
01:12So while the Prophet ﷺ was sitting with Jibreel, he heard a noise from above.
01:18A huge noise from above, from the sky.
01:22Jibreel lifted his sight to the sky and said,
01:26That this is a door in heaven being opened, and it has never been opened before.
01:32A door in the heaven has been opened which has never been opened before.
01:36And from that door, an angel descended, and came to the Prophet ﷺ.
01:42And that angel, he said to the Prophet ﷺ,
01:45Receive the good news of two lights that you have been given,
01:51which have not been given to any other Prophet before you.
01:55Receive the good news of two lights, which are being given to you,
02:01and they have not been given to any other Prophet before you.
02:05What are they?
02:06Fatiha al-Kitab.
02:08The opening of the book.
02:10And the last ayat of Surah al-Baqarah.
02:13Two lights.
02:15One is which one?
02:16Surah al-Fatiha.
02:17And the other is?
02:18The last ayat of Surah al-Baqarah.
02:20And they are so special,
02:22that they were only given to the Prophet ﷺ.
02:25And the angel said,
02:27You will not read a letter of them,
02:29but will gain its benefit.
02:32When a person reads even one letter of Surah al-Fatiha,
02:36he receives its benefit.
02:38This Surah is very mubarak.
02:41It's full of blessings.
02:43That how?
02:44When a person recites it,
02:46then yes, there is ajr for recitation of the Qur'an.
02:48But there is also special benefit,
02:50as we learn from this hadith,
02:52which is reported in Sahih Muslim.
02:55Now inshaAllah,
02:56we will do the tafsir of the Surah.
02:59Do you know what the word tafsir means?
03:02Explanation.
03:03So it's the explanation of what?
03:05Of the Qur'an.
03:07So we are going to study
03:08the tafsir of Surah al-Fatiha now.
03:11The meaning,
03:12the explanation of the Surah.
03:16Many of us have a rough idea
03:17of what the Surah means, don't we?
03:19I'm sure many of you also know the translation.
03:22If not the word to word,
03:23at least somewhat understanding
03:25of what the Surah means.
03:26Let's go a bit deeper.
03:29What do these words actually mean?
03:31What do these verses actually mean?
03:33How are we supposed to understand them?
03:35How are we supposed to relate with them?
03:37And how are we supposed to implement them?
03:38So let's begin.
03:41أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
03:43بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
03:45Lesson number one,
03:48Surah al-Fatiha,
03:50ayah number one to seven.
03:52Surah al-Fatiha
03:53has 25 words
03:56and it has 113 kalimat,
04:01letters,
04:02or huruf.
04:03This Surah
04:05is a Makki Surah.
04:08What it means by
04:10a Makki Surah is
04:11that it's a Surah that was revealed
04:14before the Prophet ﷺ
04:16migrated from Makkah to Medina.
04:20Surahs that are known as Makki,
04:22what are they?
04:23Those which were revealed
04:24before the Prophet ﷺ hijrah.
04:27And Madni Surahs,
04:29Madni from Medina,
04:30which ones are they?
04:31Those that were revealed
04:32after the Prophet ﷺ
04:34migrated to Medina.
04:36Makki and Madni
04:37don't represent the place,
04:40but what do they represent?
04:42The era,
04:43the time period.
04:44So from Makki,
04:45don't think it was revealed in Makkah.
04:47And from Madni,
04:47don't think it was revealed in Medina.
04:50This Surah is
04:52fifth to be revealed in chronology.
04:56Which ayah were the first ones?
04:58Iqra'
05:00And this Surah
05:02is the fifth Surah
05:03to be revealed.
05:05And it's the first Surah
05:06that was revealed
05:07in its entirety.
05:10Al-Fatiha.
05:11What does Fatiha literally mean?
05:15The opening.
05:16So this Surah is called
05:17Al-Fatiha.
05:19Why?
05:19Because
05:20it is
05:21the opening of the Qur'an.
05:23This is the Surah
05:24from which the Qur'an begins.
05:26When you open up the Qur'an,
05:28what do you find?
05:29Surah Al-Fatiha.
05:31And Fatiha is from Fatiha.
05:33And Fatiha is to
05:34open something.
05:35And this Surah
05:36is also known
05:37Al-Fatiha
05:37because the recitation
05:39of the Qur'an
05:40in Salah
05:41before you actually
05:42start reciting the Qur'an,
05:44what do you have to recite?
05:45Surah Al-Fatiha.
05:46So it's in a way
05:47opening up the Qur'an
05:49as well.
05:49This Surah
05:51is a very unique Surah.
05:54It's a very special Surah.
05:56How is it unique?
05:58How is it different?
05:59How is it special?
06:00That first of all,
06:01it's a major part of Salah.
06:04How is it a major part of Salah?
06:06You have to read it
06:07in every single Raka'ah.
06:10Whether you're performing
06:11the Fard Salah
06:12or the Sunnah
06:13or the Nafl
06:14or the Witr.
06:15Any Salah you're praying.
06:17Every single Raka'ah.
06:18What do you have to read?
06:20Surah Al-Fatiha.
06:21If you don't read it,
06:22is your Salah complete?
06:24It's not complete.
06:25Any other Surah,
06:27if you don't read it,
06:27will your Salah be complete?
06:29Of course.
06:30But when it comes
06:31to Surah Al-Fatiha,
06:32you have to read it.
06:35What does it show?
06:36That the Surah
06:37is very, very important.
06:40And if you think about it,
06:42Salah is also very important.
06:44After Shahadatayn,
06:45what is the most important
06:47pillar of Islam?
06:48Salah.
06:50Salah is not complete
06:51without Surah Al-Fatiha.
06:53This shows to us
06:54the importance
06:55of Surah Al-Fatiha.
06:56Then Surah Al-Fatiha
06:57is unique
06:58in another way as well.
07:00That this Surah
07:01is also Ruqiyah.
07:02Meaning,
07:03if you recite it
07:03over a person
07:04who is sick,
07:05they're cured.
07:06If Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
07:07wishes.
07:08So this Surah
07:10is very unique.
07:11And this is the reason
07:12why this Surah
07:13has many names as well.
07:16When something
07:16has many names,
07:17what does it show?
07:18It's very special.
07:20For example,
07:21there could be a child
07:22and they have multiple names.
07:24One person calls them
07:25something,
07:26another person calls them
07:27something.
07:27What does it show?
07:28Everybody loves them.
07:30So when something
07:31has many names,
07:32it shows how important
07:33it is.
07:34The Qur'an has many names.
07:35Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
07:36himself has many names.
07:38Similarly,
07:39the Surah
07:39Surah Al-Fatiha
07:40also has many names.
07:42There is the name
07:43Umm Al-Qur'an,
07:45the mother of Qur'an.
07:46The Prophet
07:47sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
07:48Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
07:50Umm Al-Qur'an
07:51Wa Umm Al-Kitab
07:53Wa Saba'ul Mathani
07:55Wa Al-Qur'an Al-Azim
07:56That Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
07:59meaning Surah Al-Fatiha
08:00is Umm Al-Qur'an
08:02Secondly,
08:04Umm Al-Kitab
08:05Umm Al-Qur'an
08:07mother of the Qur'an
08:08meaning mother of the recitation
08:09and Umm Al-Kitab
08:11mother of the book.
08:12By the way,
08:12what does the word
08:13mother mean
08:13in Arabic?
08:16Sometimes it gives
08:16the meaning of the source,
08:18the foundation of something.
08:19This Surah
08:20is the foundation
08:22of recitation.
08:23How is it so?
08:24In the Salah
08:25you begin your recitation
08:27by reciting the Surah first.
08:29It's the mother of the book.
08:30It's the foundation
08:32of the book.
08:33Which book?
08:33The Qur'an.
08:34How?
08:35In what sense?
08:36That this Surah
08:37covers many many
08:38important themes.
08:39For example,
08:40it covers
08:41Tawheed
08:41the oneness of Allah
08:43subhanahu wa ta'ala.
08:44It covers
08:45about the Day of Judgment.
08:47It includes
08:47the mention
08:48of the Day of Judgment.
08:50It includes
08:50the mention of
08:51different types of people.
08:53So if a person
08:54understands this Surah
08:56it's as though
08:56he has understood
08:57a major part
08:58of the Qur'an.
08:59Why?
09:00Because all of these
09:01major themes
09:01where are they?
09:03They're all
09:03in this Surah.
09:05So this is why
09:05the Surah is also called
09:06Ummul Kitab
09:07the mother of the book.
09:09There are some other
09:09names of the Surah
09:10which are
09:11As-Salaah
09:12the prayer.
09:13Similarly,
09:14the Surah is also called
09:15Ash-Shifa
09:16the cure.
09:18Why is it called
09:18Ash-Shifa?
09:20You read it
09:20it could be a source of
09:22Shifa
09:23it could be a source of
09:24cure for you
09:24if Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
09:25wishes to give that to you.
09:27Similarly,
09:28the Surah is also called
09:29Al-Hamd
09:29the praise
09:30because it begins with
09:32the praise of Allah.
09:33It's also called
09:34Al-Asas
09:35the foundation
09:35and it's also called
09:37Fatiha
09:37Al-Kitab
09:38opening of the book.
09:40So the Surah has
09:41many different names
09:42and this shows to us
09:44the importance of the Surah
09:46and how important
09:47is the Surah?
09:49We learn
09:49that
09:50Abu Sa'id
09:52Ibn Al-Mu'alla
09:53he said
09:54I was praying in the masjid
09:55when the Messenger
09:56Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
09:57called me.
09:58So he was praying in the masjid
09:59the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:00called him.
10:01He didn't respond.
10:02Why?
10:04He was praying.
10:05He was in Salah.
10:06When he finished the prayer
10:07he went to the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:08and he said to him
10:09I'm sorry
10:10I was praying Salah
10:11you called me.
10:12The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:13said to him
10:14did Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
10:15not say
10:16respond to Allah
10:17and the Messenger
10:18when they call you?
10:19So why did you not
10:20respond to me?
10:21You might be wondering
10:23but if you're praying
10:24you can't possibly
10:25break your Salah.
10:26Remember that
10:26you was praying
10:27Nafl Salah.
10:28When you're praying
10:28Nafl Salah
10:28for the Sahaba
10:30if the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:31called him
10:31they were supposed
10:32to respond to him.
10:33So anyway
10:34the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:35said to him
10:36shall I teach you
10:37the greatest
10:37Surah of the Quran?
10:40I will teach you
10:41the Surah
10:41before you leave
10:42the masjid.
10:44So when
10:44they were leaving
10:45the masjid
10:45he asked the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:47you had said to me
10:47that you're going to teach me
10:48the greatest Surah of the Quran
10:49the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
10:50said to him
10:51Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
10:53are the seven
10:54mathani and the immense
10:55Quran which I was given.
10:56Meaning
10:56the greatest Surah of the Quran
10:57is which Surah?
10:59Surah Al-Fatiha.
11:02This is why
11:02it's so important
11:03that we know
11:04what it means.
11:05Just think about it.
11:06We recite it
11:07so many times
11:08every single day.
11:10Every time
11:11we pray
11:12we recite the Surah.
11:12So is it not important
11:14we know what it means?
11:16Of course
11:17it's important.
11:19So let's begin
11:19the Surah.
11:21أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
11:23بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
11:25Why did I say
11:27أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم?
11:29Is it necessary
11:30to say
11:30أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
11:32before we recite the Quran?
11:34If you think about it
11:35what we're about to do
11:37is something
11:38that's very good.
11:39We think that
11:40shaytan is associated
11:41with doing bad things.
11:42When it comes to good things
11:44shaytan will automatically be far.
11:46No.
11:47When you're about to do something good
11:48shaytan becomes
11:49even more active.
11:51You know what he's going to do?
11:53Distract you.
11:54So what time is it by the way?
11:55Okay.
11:55Only 20 minutes left.
11:56Good.
11:58Similarly shaytan
11:59might put
12:00negative thoughts
12:01in your mind.
12:02Why do we have to study the Quran?
12:03It's not the
12:04most important thing
12:05on my list right now.
12:06So shaytan
12:07becomes extremely active
12:09when a person
12:10is doing something good.
12:11This is why
12:12when we're reciting the Quran
12:14Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala commands us
12:16fa'itha qara'at al-qur'ana
12:18fa'asta'ib billahi minash shaytanir rajim
12:21Everybody say with me
12:23A'udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajim
12:27A'udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajim
12:31What does A'udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajim mean?
12:35It means
12:35I seek refuge in Allah
12:37from shaytan who is
12:38the accursed.
12:40From shaytan who is accursed
12:41shaytan who is
12:43far away.
12:44How is shaytan
12:45accursed?
12:46How is he far away?
12:47He's expelled from the mercy of Allah.
12:50He's expelled
12:50He's far away from doing
12:52anything good.
12:52Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim
12:57Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim
13:00What does it mean?
13:02That I begin
13:03with the name of Allah
13:05meaning I mention the name of Allah
13:07that's what I begin with
13:09and who is Allah?
13:10Ar-Rahman
13:11and Ar-Rahim
13:12the entirely merciful
13:13and the especially merciful.
13:15If you think about it
13:18whenever we start something new
13:19what do we rely on?
13:22Our strength
13:23our ability
13:24our intellect
13:25but Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us
13:27that when you begin this
13:29or when you begin something important
13:31who should you rely on?
13:34Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
13:35This is why it's necessary
13:37that we say
13:38Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim
13:39before doing anything that is important
13:41anything that is useful
13:43that is beneficial
13:44what are we supposed to do?
13:46Say Bismillah
13:47before actually starting that.
13:50The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said
13:51any act that is not begun with Bismillah
13:53is devoid of blessing.
13:56It's not going to be blessed.
13:58It's not going to be successful.
13:59It's not going to be beneficial.
14:01Why?
14:02Because the name of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
14:04was not mentioned.
14:05So this is why when we begin
14:06the recitation of the Quran
14:08the reading of the Quran
14:09we seek refuge with Allah against shaitan
14:11and we also mention
14:13Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's name
14:14seeking His blessing
14:16seeking His assistance
14:17seeking His mercy
14:19His help.
14:21Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim
14:22Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
14:25All praise is due to Allah
14:28Why is all praise due to Allah?
14:31Because He is
14:32the Lord of the worlds.
14:36Alhamd
14:36What does hamd mean?
14:39Praise.
14:39But remember
14:41that hamd
14:42is not just any kind of praise.
14:45It is praise that is
14:47true
14:48that is sincere
14:49that
14:51the person who is being praised
14:53actually deserves.
14:56It is done
14:57out of love
14:58It's done
14:59out of respect.
15:00This is a condition.
15:03Hamd
15:04is not just any kind of praise.
15:06In the Arabic language
15:07there are many words used for praise.
15:08For example
15:09thana
15:10madh
15:11But hamd is unique
15:12in the sense that
15:13it must be done with love
15:15and it must be done with
15:17respect.
15:18These are two conditions.
15:20Because if it's not
15:21done out of love
15:21if it's not done out of respect
15:23is it sincere praise?
15:24No.
15:25For example
15:26a person could be praising another
15:27just to get some benefit
15:29out of them.
15:30You want your child
15:31to behave properly
15:31you say
15:32Oh you're such a good boy
15:33you're such a good girl
15:35I know you won't do this.
15:36Why are you praising them?
15:39So that they listen to you.
15:41And you might think otherwise
15:42that they're not always a good girl
15:43but you say
15:44you're such a good girl.
15:46Why?
15:46You want some benefit out of them.
15:49Hamd
15:49is praise
15:50that the person
15:51who is being praised
15:52actually deserves.
15:53It's true.
15:55So
15:56alhamdu
15:57all praise
15:58sincere praise
16:00true praise
16:01out of love
16:02out of gratitude
16:03out of respect
16:04who deserves it?
16:07لله
16:07for Allah
16:08Does it mean
16:10we don't praise other people?
16:12Does it mean
16:13others don't deserve
16:14any praise?
16:15Is that what this means?
16:17No.
16:18You see
16:18Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
16:19because He is the most
16:20perfect one
16:21for Him is
16:22the most perfect praise.
16:24You understand?
16:25And people
16:26they're not perfect
16:28so for them
16:28is also imperfect praise.
16:30So when we say
16:31alhamdulillah
16:32all praise is for Allah
16:34it doesn't mean
16:34that others
16:35don't deserve any praise.
16:36No they do.
16:38However
16:38it's according to
16:40how much they deserve.
16:42You understand?
16:43So
16:43alhamdulillah
16:45why all praise
16:46is for Allah?
16:47Because He is
16:47Rabbil Alameen
16:49the Lord of the Worlds.
16:51Rabb
16:52What does the word
16:53Rabb mean?
16:54Lord
16:55Sustainer
16:57The word Rabb
16:59is used for the one
17:01who has
17:02three qualities
17:03three abilities.
17:06First of all
17:07of خلق
17:08خلق means
17:10to create.
17:11Secondly
17:12of ملک
17:12ملک is
17:13ownership
17:14and thirdly
17:15of تدبير
17:16meaning of
17:17planning
17:18sustaining
17:19looking after
17:20managing the affairs.
17:21So Rabb
17:24who is Rabb?
17:25First of all
17:26خالق
17:27the creator
17:28secondly
17:29مالک
17:30the owner
17:31and thirdly
17:32مدبير
17:33the sustainer.
17:37So Allah
17:38He is the Rabb
17:39of what?
17:41Al'alameen
17:42the worlds.
17:44Al'alameen
17:44is from the word
17:46عالم
17:46and عالم
17:47is
17:48a sign.
17:49It's also used
17:50for a flag.
17:52When you see a flag
17:53it represents
17:54its country
17:55its team
17:56right?
17:57It's a sign.
17:58So similarly
17:59Alameen
18:00What is it?
18:02It refers to
18:03the entire creation.
18:05Al'alameen
18:06applies to
18:07everything
18:08besides Allah
18:08subhanahu wa ta'ala.
18:10Because everything
18:11every creature
18:13what does it
18:14point to?
18:15The existence
18:16of its creator.
18:18The ability
18:20the perfection
18:21the knowledge
18:22the wisdom
18:23the power
18:24of who?
18:26Of Allah
18:26subhanahu wa ta'ala.
18:27So
18:28Alameen
18:29is what?
18:30The entire creation.
18:32Now put these words
18:33together
18:34Rabbil Alameen
18:36He is the Lord
18:37of what?
18:39The worlds
18:39the entire creation.
18:42At the beginning
18:42of the ayah
18:43we learned
18:43Alhamdulillah
18:45Rabbil Alameen
18:46All praise
18:48for Allah
18:48Why is all praise
18:50for Allah?
18:51Why does He
18:52deserve it?
18:53Why is He
18:54worthy of it?
18:56Because
18:56first of all
18:57He
18:58created
18:59the entire
19:00creation.
19:02He would just
19:03make one cake
19:03and you're so
19:04proud about it
19:04everybody to
19:05praise you
19:05at the table.
19:06Doesn't it
19:07happen with us?
19:08Of course
19:09it does.
19:10But Allah
19:11subhanahu wa ta'ala
19:12He is the creator
19:13of everything.
19:15Every single
19:16human being.
19:17Every beautiful
19:18flower you've
19:19ever seen.
19:20Every beautiful
19:21cloud you've
19:22ever seen.
19:22every beautiful
19:23sunrise and
19:24sunset you've
19:25ever seen.
19:26Every single
19:26tree and
19:27every single
19:27color and
19:28every single
19:28bird.
19:29Every single
19:29star.
19:30Anything and
19:31everything.
19:33Who has made
19:33it?
19:34Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
19:35He is the
19:36khaliq.
19:37And on top of
19:38that He's also
19:38the malik.
19:39He's also the
19:40owner.
19:41Just imagine
19:42how wealthy
19:42He is.
19:44Imagine how
19:44ghani He is.
19:46Imagine how
19:47powerful He is.
19:49Someone who
19:49is wealthy.
19:50Someone who
19:51is powerful.
19:51Don't we
19:51praise them?
19:53Yes we do.
19:54Don't we
19:54show any
19:55respect to
19:55them?
19:56Yes we do.
19:57But Allah
19:58subhanahu wa ta'ala
19:59He is
19:59ghani.
20:01He is the
20:02richest of
20:02all.
20:03Because He
20:03is the
20:04malik
20:04of the
20:06entire
20:06heavens and
20:06the earth.
20:07This is
20:07why
20:07alhamdulillah.
20:10And not
20:11just the
20:11malik but
20:12He also
20:12takes care
20:13of,
20:14looks after
20:15the entire
20:15creation as
20:16well.
20:17Just think
20:18about it.
20:18If there is
20:19a person who
20:19is managing
20:20a company,
20:21managing a
20:22factory,
20:22managing an
20:23office,
20:24what position
20:24does he
20:24get?
20:26Manager.
20:28And with
20:28that title,
20:29with that
20:29position,
20:30aren't they
20:30honorable?
20:32Don't they
20:32deserve respect?
20:33Yes.
20:35But just
20:35think about it.
20:36There are so
20:37many managers
20:37out there,
20:38but how many
20:39times do they
20:39actually make
20:39mistakes?
20:41Many times.
20:42And how many
20:43times is it that
20:43the people who
20:44are working
20:44under them
20:44actually praise
20:45them?
20:46You know,
20:46true,
20:47sincere praise?
20:47Hardly.
20:50Why?
20:51Because they're
20:51human beings,
20:52they're imperfect.
20:53But when it
20:54comes to Allah
20:55subhanahu wa ta'ala,
20:56He is managing,
20:58looking after,
20:59sustaining,
21:00every single
21:01thing.
21:03Rabbah yaribbu,
21:04is to cause
21:05something to grow,
21:06to nurture it.
21:07Like for example,
21:08a seed,
21:09look after it,
21:10take care of it,
21:11nurture it,
21:11make it grow,
21:12until it reaches
21:13its stage of
21:14completion.
21:14So Allah
21:16subhanahu wa ta'ala,
21:18He doesn't just
21:18do this with
21:19people,
21:20that when a
21:21woman conceives,
21:22Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
21:23is the one who
21:23is making that
21:24child grow into
21:25such a beautiful
21:26child,
21:26and finally when
21:26the child comes
21:27out,
21:27Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
21:28nurtures that
21:29child,
21:29makes him grow,
21:30so that he
21:30becomes an adult.
21:32No,
21:32not just one
21:33person,
21:34not just two
21:35people,
21:35not just you
21:36and I,
21:37but every single
21:38human being.
21:39And not just
21:39every single
21:40human being,
21:41every single
21:42plant,
21:42and every single
21:43bird,
21:43every single
21:44creature,
21:45who provides
21:45for it?
21:46Allah,
21:47who has made
21:48it grow,
21:49who has designed
21:50it?
21:50Allah,
21:52this is why
21:53he deserves
21:54praise,
21:55this is why
21:56we're supposed
21:56to thank him,
21:59this is why
22:00we're supposed
22:00to remember him,
22:01this is why
22:02we're supposed
22:02to worship him,
22:04because
22:04alhamdulillahi
22:05rabbil alameen,
22:07all praise
22:08for Allah,
22:09who is the
22:10Lord of the
22:10worlds.
22:12If you think
22:13about,
22:13the master,
22:16the manager,
22:17or someone
22:17who is of
22:18the topmost
22:18authority,
22:20what do you
22:20think about
22:21power,
22:23punishment,
22:24but how does
22:25Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
22:26describe himself?
22:28Ar-Rahman
22:28Ar-Rahim.
22:30In Bismillah
22:31also,
22:32what do we
22:32learn?
22:33He is
22:33Ar-Rahman
22:34Ar-Rahim.
22:35Over here
22:35also,
22:36what do we
22:36learn?
22:36Ar-Rahman
22:38Ar-Rahim.
22:38Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
22:39he describes
22:40himself with
22:41his two
22:41most beautiful
22:42names over
22:43here.
22:43And what
22:44are those
22:44names?
22:44Ar-Rahman,
22:45the most
22:46merciful,
22:46Ar-Rahim,
22:47the always
22:48all merciful.
22:49And if
22:49you think
22:50about it,
22:51why is
22:51it the
22:52two names
22:52that mean
22:53almost the
22:53same thing
22:54are mentioned
22:54in the
22:54same verse?
22:56Have you
22:56ever thought
22:56about that?
22:58That why
22:59is merciful
23:00mentioned
23:00twice?
23:02Have you
23:02ever thought
23:02about that?
23:03You must
23:04have.
23:04The thing
23:05is that
23:05Ar-Rahman
23:06and Ar-Rahim,
23:06yes,
23:07they give
23:07the meaning
23:07of mercy,
23:08but they
23:09are different.
23:10Ar-Rahman
23:10is the
23:11one who
23:12has a
23:13lot of
23:13mercy.
23:14It refers
23:15to his
23:15attribute
23:16of mercy.
23:18And Ar-Rahim
23:18gives us
23:19the meaning
23:19of the
23:19one who
23:20shows
23:21mercy.
23:22So Ar-Rahman
23:23is pointing
23:24towards his
23:25attribute
23:25and Ar-Rahim
23:27is pointing
23:27towards his
23:28action.
23:30He has
23:30the attribute
23:31of mercy
23:31and he
23:32also shows
23:33mercy.
23:35Then Ar-Rahman
23:36also gives
23:36the meaning
23:36of the
23:37one who
23:37is merciful
23:37to everyone.
23:40And Ar-Rahim
23:41gives the meaning
23:41that he
23:42is merciful
23:42in a special
23:43way to
23:44only certain
23:45people.
23:46What does
23:46that mean?
23:48That Ar-Rahman
23:49he is merciful
23:50towards the
23:50entire creation.
23:52Those who
23:52believe in
23:53him,
23:53those who
23:53don't believe
23:54in him.
23:55Have you
23:55learned about
23:56the story
23:56of Fir'aun?
23:58Fir'aun
23:59was extremely
23:59arrogant.
24:00He completely
24:01rejected Allah
24:02subhanahu wa ta'ala.
24:03Mocked at
24:04Musa
24:04competed with
24:06him,
24:06challenged
24:07him,
24:07insulted
24:08him,
24:09insulted
24:09Allah subhanahu
24:10wa ta'ala
24:11as well.
24:12But did
24:12Allah subhanahu
24:13wa ta'ala
24:13disable him
24:13from ever
24:14taking a
24:14breath?
24:15Did Allah
24:16subhanahu
24:16wa ta'ala
24:16take his
24:17kingdom away
24:17immediately?
24:19No.
24:20Allah subhanahu
24:21wa ta'ala
24:21let him
24:21live.
24:22And he
24:23punished him
24:23after a
24:24while.
24:26There are
24:26so many
24:26people who
24:27completely
24:27reject
24:28Allah subhanahu
24:28wa ta'ala.
24:29But Allah
24:30subhanahu
24:31wa ta'ala
24:31still shows
24:32mercy to
24:32them.
24:33Similarly,
24:34they are
24:34animals.
24:35How come
24:36they have
24:36affection for
24:36one another,
24:37mercy for
24:37one another?
24:39You see,
24:39a lion,
24:40if it sees
24:41a goat,
24:42it will kill
24:42the goat.
24:44But that
24:44same lioness
24:45will be very
24:45affectionate
24:46towards its
24:46child.
24:48So,
24:49this mercy
24:50that Allah
24:51subhanahu wa ta'ala
24:52shows to
24:52all of his
24:53creation in
24:54the general
24:54sense,
24:55the word
24:55of Rahman
24:56shows.
24:56And
24:56Ar-Raheem,
24:57what does
24:57that show?
24:58That he
24:58is merciful
24:59in a very
25:00special way
25:00to certain
25:01people.
25:02And this
25:03special mercy
25:03is for
25:04who?
25:05Those who
25:06seek mercy.
25:07How do they
25:07seek his
25:08mercy?
25:08By believing
25:09in him,
25:10by obeying
25:10him,
25:11by trying to
25:12do those
25:12things which
25:13will please
25:13him.
25:15So,
25:15Alhamdulillahi
25:16Rabbil Alameen,
25:18Ar-Rahman
25:18Ar-Raheem,
25:19the entirely
25:20merciful,
25:20the especially
25:21merciful.
25:22Now,
25:23this is something
25:23very important
25:24that we must
25:25understand.
25:26Right at the
25:27beginning of the
25:27Qur'an,
25:28Allah's attributes
25:29of Ar-Rahman
25:30and Ar-Raheem
25:30are both
25:31mentioned twice.
25:33What does
25:33that show?
25:34That a person
25:35can never
25:36ever despair
25:37of the mercy
25:37of Allah.
25:38A person
25:39can never
25:39think,
25:40I'm so evil
25:40I can never
25:41be forgiven.
25:42I'm so bad,
25:43there's no hope
25:43for me.
25:45Some of you
25:45might be thinking
25:46or somebody
25:46else might say
25:47to you,
25:48that you're
25:48studying the
25:49Qur'an after
25:49you've done
25:50all of that.
25:51Like seriously?
25:52And you might
25:53wonder yourself,
25:54I'm not supposed
25:55to be a good
25:55person.
25:56I've done this,
25:56I've done that.
25:57No,
25:58Allah is very
25:59merciful.
26:00No person
26:01can ever
26:02ever despair
26:03of His mercy.
26:05So,
26:05Alhamdulillahi
26:06Rabbil Alameen
26:07Ar-Rahman
26:09Ar-Raheem
26:09And at the
26:12same time
26:12He is Maliki
26:13Yawmiddin
26:14The Master
26:16of the Day
26:16of Judgment.
26:17And because
26:18He is the Master
26:18of the Day
26:19of Judgment
26:19and He is
26:21the Lord
26:21of the Worlds,
26:23what do we do?
26:24إياك نعبد
26:25وإياك نستعين
26:26We seek
26:27Your help
26:28and we seek
26:29Your assistance.
26:31We worship
26:31You alone
26:32and we also
26:34seek
26:34Your assistance.
26:36This is why
26:37O Allah,
26:38You guide us
26:38Ihdina
26:39الصراط
26:39المستقيم
26:40You show us
26:41the right way.
26:43What is
26:43the right way?
26:44صراط
26:45الذين
26:45أنعمت
26:46عليهم
26:46The path
26:48of those
26:48people whom
26:48you have.
26:49Let's continue
26:50with the
26:50Tafseer
26:50of Surah
26:51Al-Fatiha
26:51Bismillah
26:53Ar-Rahman
26:54Ar-Rahim
26:54Alhamdulillahi
26:56Rabbil
26:56Alameen
26:57All praise
26:58for Allah
26:59who is
27:00the Lord
27:01of the Worlds.
27:02Why is
27:03all praise
27:03for Allah
27:04subhanahu wa ta'ala?
27:05Why is
27:05He deserving
27:05of praise?
27:06Why should
27:07we praise
27:07Him?
27:08Why should
27:08we honor
27:09Him?
27:09Why should
27:10we thank
27:10Him?
27:11Because
27:11He is
27:12the Lord
27:13of the Worlds.
27:15And
27:15Al-Alamin
27:16includes
27:17you and
27:17I.
27:18Does it
27:19not?
27:20It includes
27:21all of us.
27:22If He is
27:22the Lord
27:23of the Worlds
27:23what does
27:24it mean?
27:24He is
27:25my Lord
27:25and your
27:26Lord
27:26too.
27:28If He is
27:28the creator
27:29of the heavens
27:29and the
27:30earth
27:30then what
27:31does it
27:31mean?
27:32He has
27:32also created
27:33me
27:33and also
27:34created
27:34you.
27:36You know
27:36sometimes
27:37I see
27:38that
27:38for example
27:39you go
27:39to a
27:40party
27:40you go
27:40to a
27:40wedding
27:41and people
27:41are dressed
27:42up
27:42and they're
27:43constantly
27:44admiring
27:44their hair
27:45you can
27:45tell by
27:45the way
27:46they're
27:46constantly
27:47passing
27:47their
27:47fingers
27:48through
27:48or
27:49they're
27:49constantly
27:49looking
27:49at the
27:50mirror
27:50or
27:50constantly
27:51going
27:51to
27:51the
27:51washroom
27:52appreciating
27:53themselves
27:54isn't it?
27:55Similarly
27:56if somebody
27:56has beautiful
27:57hands
27:57constantly
27:57they're
27:58looking
27:58at their
27:58nails
27:59constantly
28:00they're
28:00admiring
28:01their
28:01fingers
28:02constantly
28:03they're
28:03looking
28:04at the
28:04mirror
28:04looking
28:05at their
28:05eyebrows
28:05or their
28:06lips
28:06or their
28:06nose
28:07or whatever
28:07if you
28:08think
28:09about it
28:09you're
28:09so happy
28:10about
28:10your

28:17should

28:19praise
28:19him
28:19we
28:20thank
28:21people
28:21isn't it
28:23so
28:23but we
28:23should
28:24thank
28:24Allah
28:24subhanahu
28:25ta'ala
28:25even
