00:00The U.S. Senate rejected both parties' bills to avoid a government shutdown at the end
00:04of September, while the Trump administration proposes to sell almost $6 billion in weapons
00:09to Israel.
00:11Our correspondent, Jorge Estoso, with the details.
00:15There is concern here in Washington given the fact that could be in 10 days a government
00:21shutdown, and that is the result of disagreements in the Senate that they couldn't pass the
00:27proposal of the Republicans.
00:31Chuck Schumer, the leader of the minority of the Democrat Party, says that the proposal
00:37of the Republicans are not good enough.
00:40There was a transitional proposal that they did that was financing the government until
00:45the end of the year, and now that could represent that after October the 1st could be the shutdown
00:54of non-essential government officials and agencies.
01:01Could affect the payment of the government's members.
01:06And also there's a lot of financial areas that could be affected by the shutdown.
01:11So that shows clearly the polarization even in the Congress that is taking place this week.
01:18And also there is sort of a new proposal that could have been set by President Trump, but
01:27is not confirmed.
01:29He could have suggested that the U.S. was ready to sell up to $6.4 billion in guns to Israel,
01:39especially Apache helicopters and assault cars.
01:45And that is very weird, if you want, because yesterday in the morning, President Trump had
01:53a telephone conversation of about two hours with the President Xi Jinping, where they address
02:00areas of conflict around the world, including the area of Israel.
02:05And both of them were mentioning that they were seeking to work together in order to achieve
02:11the peace.
02:12So for one saying, we are talking about his, together with the other leader of the most
02:20populous country, China and the second economy, pushing for peace.
02:25And on the other hand, he could have said, and again, it's not confirmed yet, that the U.S.
02:30States could be ready to sell $6.4 billion in guns to Israel, a country that has been accused
02:40more and more, for more and more countries, including the United Nations, that are committing
02:45a genocide against the people of Palestine.
02:50We get back to you now.
