00:00Guyana Amazon Warriors are into their third straight CPL final and eighth overall after beating St. Lucia Kings by 14 runs at Providence Stadium.
00:09After being dismissed for 157, the Amazon Warriors were able to bowl out their opponents for 143.
00:16Captain Imran Tahir agrees that the batting was somewhat worrying, but he has lauded his side for the win.
00:21I still believe that we were, I think, 10-15 runs short and that's what I said before we went in.
00:26And I just obviously told the boys that, you know, we have to believe that before we cross this rope that, you know, we can defend this.
00:33I'm just really pleased the way we feel, the way we bowl, especially Moti, Pretorius, you know, so, yeah, it was really, really nice to watch.
00:42I think the guys showed big character, especially our fielding.
00:46The Amazon Warriors are aiming to win their second title, having first done so in 2023.
00:52And Tahir wants his side to come good in all areas to make it materialize.
00:56You know, playing in Guyana is something very special, you know, which I probably, one of the finest players to want to play cricket.
01:05So, yeah, look, I'm really, really pleased. I think we showed good character, worked really hard.
01:11You know, we were being up and down this season with a lot of different things.
01:15But, you know, it's always a nice and good feeling that, you know, you know that you're in the final.
01:20But again, it's another game. Unfortunately, if you want to be champion, we need to be very hungry.
01:26And we need to show our character what we have been showing in the last couple of games.
01:30St. Lucia Kings are the defending champions after beating Guyana last year.
01:34But for their captain David Wieser and his men, this loss means that they have a second bite at the cherry against TKR in Friday's next eliminator.
01:43Yeah, definitely. I thought it was a great effort from the bowlers.
01:45If you'd offered us that at the start of the game, we would have taken it up, you know, with both hands.
01:49I thought we executed our skills well. And I just, you know, was pretty happy with that effort from the bowlers.
01:55Wieser acknowledges that his side can bat deep, as was shown by Carripeer and Tamal Mills.
02:01But he is urging his side for a better effort moving forward.
02:04You know, to see Carripeer come in there, Tamal Mills even to come in and give it a bit of a whack at the end there.
02:10It's quite encouraging. But at the end of the day, those aren't the guys who should be scoring the lines for us.
02:14You know, we've got some top batters in our batting lineup. And, you know, come Friday, somebody's going to have to take responsibility.
02:19Like the Amazon Warriors, the Kings are also aiming for a second title, whereas TKR hope to make it number five.
