Martin Dempster - BMW PGA Championship preview
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempser, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from Wentworth
00:07Golf Club in Surrey, where the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am is heading towards a conclusion.
00:17And in the background, Bob McIntyre is just heading off the first tee as he just about completes
00:31his round. The Scots is one of 11 players in Luke Donald's Ryder Cup team playing in this
00:42event, which takes place just two weeks before the 45th Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black on Long
00:53Island. McIlroy is here to do a job this week. He would love to land his first win of the
01:02season. And he's certainly got the game to give a good account of himself at the Surrey
01:10venue, where the likes of Colm Montgomery, Andrew O'Connor and Scott Drummond have all
01:16landed Scottish successes in the past. However, his main focus at the moment is that Ryder
01:26Cup, having qualified automatically for the second match running against the Americans.
01:32He's really excited about the prospect, played well in his debut in Rome two years ago. But
01:42since then, the open man has taken his game to a different level, hence why the likes of
01:49Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, two of his teammates have been talking about him now being one of
01:54the best players in the world. Eight Scots in total, teeing up in the BMW PGA Championship,
02:00one of the DP World Tours. Iconic events. It's been a bit miserable today, some heavy showers
02:07here on the west side of London. And by the looks of things, it could be a bit iffy over
02:14the next four days. To keep up to date with everything about the BMW PGA Championship, log on
