00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:05The London Eye is one of the UK's most popular attractions and a modern icon of the South Bank of the River Thames.
00:12Standing 135 metres tall, it was the world's tallest observation wheel when it opened in 2000 to mark the new millennium.
00:21Its 32 glass capsules, each representing one of London's boroughs, carry around 25 people at a time, offering breathtaking 360-degree views across the city.
00:34A full rotation takes about half an hour, moving slowly enough for visitors to step on and off without stopping the wheel.
00:42Originally planned as a temporary structure, the London Eye proved so popular that it became a permanent structure.
00:49And today attracts millions of visitors every single year.
