We ask Londoners what they think about the current law
Transcript
00:00I mean, my mom grew up in Guyana. She was raised very differently from how you were raised today.
00:05And she dedicated herself to not hit her kids, and I think that's really, really good.
00:10Because I think hitting your kid would personally inflict that sort of abuse on them and they won't feel safe to come and talk to you.
00:17So I think hitting your kid is acceptable to a sense, but all in all, it's not acceptable.
00:24I wouldn't necessarily be an advocate for it myself particularly, but, you know, I think it's a generational thing.
00:31You know, like my parents' generation probably looked at it like, you know, smack around the head at the bottom to kind of get someone in line.
00:38Was that not big a deal? Whereas I think parents today would be probably of a different view.
00:42I'm not a parent myself. Or sorry, I'm not a parent myself. Yeah, so I haven't had to deal with it.
00:49Are you surprised that the language in the UK these days still allow you to kind of do it?
00:54Yeah, I'm kind of surprised, to be honest, because especially with the lots of abuse going around as well.
