00:00I saw David Fioronas from the Sun Sentinel did a Q&A on Twitter, you know, fire off some questions to him about the Dolphins, and someone tweeted at him last night, for Mike McDaniel, what do you do specifically and immediately as a coach to rebuild your team's confidence and also your own after such an embarrassing loss?
00:23And David responded, if I had that answer, I'd have his job and his salary instead of mine.
00:27And he's got to come up with something.
00:30A theme of camp and preseason was how close this year's group had grown.
00:35So I would lean into that.
00:36You fight for one another, and the one loss doesn't tear this team down.
00:41That sounds well and good, but you played the game, Crowder.
00:44What does a coach say to the team after a loss like that when it was obvious that they were never in the game?
00:55Nothing they did was right or good.
00:59So what do you do to prevent the team from looking at you, the coach, as a laughing stock?
01:09I would tell you, as soon as you started saying that and what David Faronis' response was, you have to take accountability because that's what you have to do.
01:21I tell you the Paul Pascaloni stories where we'll get scored on, we'll get, you know, somebody scores 38 on us, and he'll come in and say, my defense works.
01:31You're just not doing it right.
01:33Like, you'll lose guys then.
01:35So if you come in, and I honestly don't believe Mike McDaniels even built this way to walk in and say, man, y'all weren't ready to play.
01:43No, we all have to take responsibility.
01:46I need to have a better offensive game plan.
01:50Coach Weaver needs to have a better defensive game plan to be able to stop Daniel Jones from running and know where they're going with the ball and all those little out routes to get first downs.
01:59We need to have somebody sitting there.
02:01We need to play more cover, too, or somebody out there with outside leverage.
02:07Take accountability on the coaching side and also call the players out for their effort and their preparedness.
02:15I don't even know if that's a damn word.
02:17But, like, to your point, we're closer this year.
02:21We all just got embarrassed.
02:25Let's all get better.
02:26And it starts with me as the head coach.
02:28I think that is the best approach that Mike McDaniel could make.
02:35Ryan from Funky Buddha, by the way, texted me.
02:37Vinny Barbarino in Welcome Back, Cotter.
02:39Great salad.
02:42He got a good salad.
02:43Solana, you're the salad expert.
02:45Yeah, he had a great salad.
02:46I'll check it out.
02:50It was John Travolta back when he had hair.
02:52He had a great salad.
02:54Oh, Solana would love John Travolta's salad.
02:57Solomon Grease.
02:59Who had a better salad, him or Van Ginkle?
03:03Nobody beats Van Ginkle salad.
03:04Come on.
03:06I just wonder if McDaniel, it's almost like, you know, once the genie's out of the bottle, like, we talked about it going into this season.
03:15Like, if that's who you are, that's who you are.
03:19You know, if I just, again, I know Rex Ryan, people are bristling at him calling him nerd boy.
03:26But, like, if that's who you are, it's really hard to shake that you're for.
03:33You know what I mean?
03:34Like, I think you can shake that somewhere else in a different time.
03:38You can reinvent yourself.
03:40People reinvent themselves all the time.
03:41It's very difficult to reinvent yourself where you already are, you know?
03:48But, no.
03:49And I just don't know how he, like, the way he takes accountability is not the way people are, I feel like, used to hearing a leader take accountability.
04:02Because it's going to be this weird road of words that go up and down and windy and sideways.
04:10And it's like, oh, I think he just took accountability rather than, you know, where someone comes in and goes, hey, I sucked.
04:20We got our asses kicked.
04:21It starts with me.
04:23I'm not putting up with this mother bleeping, bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep anymore.
04:28We're going out there.
04:30We're going to start kicking some ass.
04:31But he just doesn't do it that way.
04:34To your point about the timing, the time of it, he can't walk.
04:40We talked about this when he tried to get tough on the guys missing meetings.
04:44You can't be here three years and now you want to start, you know, fining and yelling at people.
04:49Bro, you ain't yell at me.
04:51I've been over your house and ate Thanksgiving dinner.
04:53Like, don't yell at me now.
04:54Like, take it easy.
04:56But he can take the accountability.
04:59And like I said, take most of the blame, but also tell the guys how I would do it.
05:05And it's funny.
05:06Dave Ronan said it, too.
05:07If I knew the answer to this, I'd probably be an NFL head coach.
05:11I would say I was not prepared to play this game.
05:15If I'm Mike McDaniels, fellas, I slipped.
05:18We slipped through the last couple weeks of camp.
05:20I slipped on the preparation.
05:21I slipped on the game call.
05:22I want you, when we sit in this meeting today, to go watch the film and see if you were prepared.
05:30Because I question a lot of y'all's preparation.
05:32See if you were ready to play.
05:34See if you watched enough film on the Colts.
05:36See if you have the same epiphany that I had watching that game that I was not prepared as a head coach.
05:44That's the come-together thing he's going to have to do.
05:49You can't try to wear nicer sunglasses and off-white ones with all the players and now come in and cuss you out.
05:58Saban's going to cuss you out.
06:00Belichick's going to cuss you out.
06:02Andy Reid doesn't cuss them out.
06:04Andy Reid is a Hall of Fame coach.
06:06He can't turn into Belichick right now, but more of asking the question of you self-evaluate,
06:14because I'm telling y'all, I give myself an F.
06:17So see what grade you give yourself for last week and Sunday's game.
06:22And I think that's the approach he should take, because that togetherness, we're all in the foxhole together, rah, rah, rah.
06:28You can't do that and then jump out the foxhole and think I'm going to look at you as a dictator.
06:34Man, did you just cuss at me?
06:36Oh, no, bro.
06:37Yeah, don't start that now.
06:38Like, that would be the...
06:39Right, watch your mouth.
06:40Yeah, don't cuss at me now, bro.
06:42I done known you three years now.
06:44You ain't going to talk nasty to me.
06:45But that's the conversation we were having yesterday following us playing the Rex Ryan sound.
06:51I'm with you that he didn't have his guys prepared.
06:55And, you know, honestly, Crowder, I get what you're saying.
06:58But if my coach came in after week one when he had nine weeks to prepare me and said,
07:02yeah, sorry, guys, I slipped.
07:04I didn't have you prepared.
07:05I guess I appreciate the honesty.
07:07But what does it say about that guy that couldn't be prepared for week one?
07:11Like, now we're supposed to trust the same person to prepare for week two?
07:14But that's a different argument, though, because you want him to try to fool you?
07:18Like, you want him to stick to his guns?
07:20I get it.
07:21I did everything I could to get you prepared?
07:23No, no, no.
07:23I get it.
07:24But the idea that now I respect him more, because what it boils down to, and it was my argument yesterday,
07:29what I don't agree with is that there's the reason the Dolphins weren't prepared and the
07:36reason the Dolphins couldn't execute their scheme and couldn't execute their blocks and couldn't
07:41execute whatever the game plan was, is not because they don't respect Mike McDaniel.
07:46It's because Mike McDaniel didn't prepare them properly.
07:51Mike McDaniel and the team itself wasn't ready to go execute those plays.
07:57That, to me, doesn't signify a culture problem.
08:01I don't think Mike McDaniel is trying to go in there and turn into rah-rah guy, and I
08:05don't necessarily think with this roster, rah-rah guy, Dan Campbell, gets them to where they
08:11need to be, which is Super Bowl contenders.
08:13I just think a better head coach or Mike McDaniel, learning how to adjust and learning how to change
08:21when things aren't going his way, which is something he has struggled, is the difference.
08:25It's not him becoming, you know, this military, my way or the highway guy.
08:30That's not who he is.
08:32It's just like being an NFL head coach, which is finding the best ways to put my guys in
08:38the best position to win, and when that goes wrong early in the game, here's the answer
08:43to that, and he can't figure that part out.
08:46And Solana, no, and you're speaking on two different streams.
08:51When you say adjustments, that's X and O.
08:53No, that's, hey, Mike, this damn offense isn't working.
08:56We had three sacks, 41 yards in the first half.
08:59I need to change that, and that's where Mike's going to have to say, I failed you with my
09:04second half adjustments of 41 first half yards.
09:08But evaluate yourself and see if you were ready to play.
09:12It's the foxhole thought.
09:14It's what Hawk said, the togetherness.
09:15Do you preach togetherness so much?
09:17Don't say, I'm the problem, y'all were good, because the players weren't good.
09:22They weren't good, but the coaches weren't good either.
09:25The answer, and like Hawk said, I played.
09:28The answer to this that I would respond to is when, if a terrible coach, that's why I
09:34brought up Paul Pascaloni.
09:35When he'd walk in after games, man, cover four is great on this.
09:40Y'all just have to drop to two.
09:41Well, if we're not dropping the two like you want to, call something else, Butt White.
09:45Like, no, you're not going to blame me for your defensive failures.
09:50Hey, block better.
09:51Two shouldn't be sacked three times in the first half.
09:53Y'all need to block better.
09:54You're going to lose your entire team if you go the route that you're not doing my scheme
09:59right.
10:00I did not have a plan B.
10:03To your point, Solana, fellas, I didn't have a plan B.
10:05This is me standing in front of the team room.
10:08I didn't have a plan B.
10:09I was not prepared with a large enough call sheet for this game for us to score eight
10:15points, and it took us, what, five minutes left in the fourth quarter to get points on
10:20the board.
10:21That's on me.
10:22Y'all go watch this film.
10:25Be honest with yourselves.
10:26You don't have to write it down to see if you were playing at your top level.
10:31Let's regroup and get back.
10:34It's not the best way, Solana.
10:35I'm not saying this is the best way to approach it.
10:37I honestly am saying this might be the only way to approach it.
10:41We all need to take accountability for getting our ass whooped by a mediocre team in the Daniel
10:46Jones-led Colts by 25 points.
10:49And I just looked at the, what's it called, the game log, whatever.
10:55We lost in every damn category.
10:57Every one.
10:57Defensive, offensive, first downs, yards.
11:00We had 211 yards.
11:02They had 418 or something like that.
11:04Like, we got embarrassed.
11:05We all need to look at this game, Solana.
11:08We didn't even say it yesterday.
11:10Daniel Jones, first quarterback in the history of the NFL to score on all seven of his drives.
11:14Think about that.
11:15Like, Daniel Jones set records against the Miami Dolphins defense.
11:19Set NFL historic records against the Dolphins.
11:24Joe Montana, Dan Marino, those guys haven't done that.
11:30The best of the best haven't scored every time they touch the ball.
11:34And you let Daniel Jones do it?
11:35Defense.
11:36Don't be mad at the offense.
11:38Offense.
11:38You can't be mad at the defense.
11:40You couldn't get no damn points on the board.
11:42You let these bats score 33.
11:43Let's all evaluate ourselves and go into this Patriots game ready to go.
11:47Because we all were not ready on Sunday when that ball was kicked off.
11:53Except for Riley Patterson.
11:54Including the media.
11:55We got it wrong in the media as well.
11:57Everyone was in agreement that the front seven was going to be able to put pressure on the quarterback.
12:02So we did not do a good job either because that front seven, that was a fraud.
12:10It wasn't what we all thought it was.
12:13Mm-hmm.
12:14And I was wrong with him.
12:15I thought, you just gave me Judon.
12:18We already had Jalen Phillips.
12:20We already had Bradley Chubb.
12:21And we drafted Chubb Roberts in the first round.
12:22Oh, boy.
12:23We're going to get him.
12:24Daniel Jones was more comfortable than a priest in the church.
12:29Man, he had no problem back there relaxing.
12:32So some of the stats, though, do point.
12:34Like, I understand, right?
12:35We were looking for sacks.
12:37We're looking for pressure.
12:38We're looking for, like, highlight real stuff from the defense.
12:41And I think there was one instance where Bradley Chubb and Jalen Phillips finally broke the edges and were able to get to him.
12:49And that happened in the second quarter.
12:50But Chris Kaufman, CK Parrott on Twitter, covers the team very well.
12:54He did tweet out that he doesn't understand the bashing of Miami's defensive performance from the standpoint of the pass rush.
13:01Because Daniel Jones, he writes, averaged 2.3 seconds per attempt, which was the fourth quickest of all quarterbacks this weekend.
13:10So, like, I'm not defending the pass rush.
13:13Like, you know, I don't think they did a great job.
13:16But I also don't think it's fair to just blame the pass rush either.
13:19Because in all honesty, no matter how good those guys are at Crowder, you could have four Jason Taylors rushing the quarterback the other day.
13:27And I don't think it would have made that big of a difference.
13:30The secondary, which everybody knew going into the game, is really bad.
13:36They don't cover well.
13:37They don't execute the scheme well.
13:39And none of them are familiar with what they're trying to do.
13:43That's a problem.
13:44And it was seen immediately in that game when your cornerback won in Storm Duck.
13:50Before he got carted off, got burnt when there was no reason for him to stay in the flat.
13:55Zero reason for him to stay in the flat.
13:57And he just got burnt.
13:58Yeah.
14:00They're going to have to strategize a lot with that secondary.
14:05But if Daniel Jones, Solana and I get the numbers, the two, if they need 2.4, you got to get their 2.2.
14:11I don't, I don't, I don't know how to answer that.
14:14But you're going to have to strategize with this secondary now that Storm Duck is out and he's really not a one corner.
14:22Jack Jones is not a two corner.
14:25What are you going to do now with these guys you have?
14:27And that's on Anthony Weaver.
14:29And you know what?
14:30We have to go get it.
14:31We got to have a shootout.
14:33Hey, McDaniel, get more than 41 yards in the first half and see if they play differently.
14:39Because I guarantee Daniel Jones with a 30-point lead plays a lot looser and a lot more happy and takes more chances and runs the ball more.
14:48We have a 30-point lead, 28-point lead, whatever it was.
14:51Like, the complimentary football conversation, terrible on all three sides of the ball.
14:58And just like OG said, what the hell is Matt Judon doing on punt return?
15:02Just tighten up.
15:04How pissed do you think Minka Fitzpatrick, Tyreek Hill, and Matt Judon are after that game?
15:11Matt Judon got embarrassed playing a role that he had no business playing.
15:16Hey, 14-year vet, come run off the edge on punt.
15:24I'll do whatever for the team, coach.
15:25Sounds good.
15:27But I don't really know how to do this.
15:29I'm not familiar.
15:30Like, oh, no, no, no.
15:32Just do it.
15:34Oh, Minka's hot.
15:34Because Minka's already.
15:35I told you, Minka's already got a little edge to him.
15:37Minka's fire hot right now.
15:39Yeah.
15:40He's got Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh.
15:43Got to do it here.
15:44Let's do headlines real quick for the 4 o'clock hour.
15:48Headline brought to you by Darrell Kia.
15:51Darrell Kia, home of the Pricito, our lowest price.
15:54Visit them at DarrellKia or DarrellKia.com.
15:57Who was the analyst that was working the Dolphins game?
16:01I don't remember who it was.
16:04Andrew Catalan.
16:05Charles Davis and Jason McCourty.
16:07I think it was Jason McCourty who's like, this guy hasn't played special teams since 2017.
16:14Why is he out there?
16:15Like, he just couldn't believe.
16:17Why?
16:182017.
16:19It's been seven seasons, eight seasons since he's been out there.
16:22Why is he out there?
16:25And I'm not Matt Judon.
16:28That man went to the Pro Bowl.
16:30After I signed my second contract, year four.
16:33Hey, Crowder, punt team.
16:35I'm good, Chief.
16:36Chief.
16:37Zach left.
16:38I'm the starting middle linebacker.
16:40No, I'm good, Colt.
16:41No, we need our tacklers on punt team.
16:44I know we'll find some tacklers.
16:45Again, imagine, though, they twist your arm, put you out there, and you make an embarrassing gaffe that costs you.
16:53You know, it doesn't, in the long run, it doesn't mean anything because they got quite washed so bad, but it's embarrassing.
16:59Ed Miles, Austin Spittler.
17:01Yeah, Coach, put them out there.
17:04I'm not going out there on punt team.
17:05No, I'm going to be tired.
17:08Dog tired, boss.
17:09Dog tired.
17:10I ain't ready for that.
17:11So here's the only major headline that I want to present to you guys in this hour.
17:17Last week, we all took issue with a lot of different rankings and where different outlets were placing the Miami Dolphins in said rankings.
17:28One of those was Pro Football Talk.
17:31They had the Miami Dolphins listed as the 29th best team in the NFL.
17:36None of us thought it was right.
17:38None of us thought it was accurate.
17:39And truthfully, I just thought it was a little click bait, a little rage bait for Dolphins fans.
17:44It worked.
17:45Do you guys want to guess, as Pro Football Talk released their updated rankings, where the Miami Dolphins are ranked this morning?
17:53I saw it, so I recused myself.
17:5831.
18:0032.
18:01The worst team in the NFL.
18:04According to Mike Florio's Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins, in the latest power rankings, are the worst team in the NFL.
18:14I mean, honestly, right now, if anyone had them above 28, lower than 28, it would be silly.
18:20So, they're absolutely, based off of Sunday, absolutely one of the four worst teams in the league.
18:28Maybe the worst team in the NFL.
18:32The only team to score less was the Giants, correct?
18:37The Giants scored six.
18:38Six.
18:39They scored six.
18:40The Dolphins scored eight.
18:41They're the second lowest scoring offense in the NFL, to Hawks' point.
18:44You can't be over 29 if you're the least, you're the worst offense in the NFL.
18:51I saw Brian Dable already get asked yesterday if he's thinking of making a change at quarterback.
18:57He confirmed it'll be Russell Wilson in week two for the Giants.
19:01That'll be a weekly question.
19:05Killed them with the six points.
19:06Go Russ.
19:10Yesterday, Monday Night Football, obviously, the Bears had a lead and ended up squandering that lead.
19:17Minnesota ends up winning in a pretty decent fourth quarter from J.J. McCarthy.
19:22Your Thursday night football game, by the way, it's a really good one.
19:26Packers, Commanders at Lambeau Field, Thursday night.
19:30First Amazon Prime game of the season.
19:32I'm buying the Packers, man.
19:36I'm a buyer on the Packers after week one.
19:39Both of them.
19:40I'm buying the Commanders.
19:42Now, I believe we had conversations over the last couple of years.
19:47Who would you rather have, Tua or Jordan?
19:50Love.
19:50I think I may have sided with Tua several times during those conversations.
19:56Slimey, love.
20:00Slimey, Jaden Daniels.
20:02I don't think we should do that for at least a couple of weeks with any quarterback in the NFL right now.
20:10Let's wait.
20:11I'm with you, sir.
20:11Spencer Rattler.
20:14They scored more than eight.
20:18Aaron Rodgers or Tua Tonga-Vailoa going into Sunday for week two?
20:21I still take two.
20:23I still take two.
20:26I don't think you're right.
20:28I don't think you're being truthful.
20:29I'm not even kidding.
20:30I don't think you're being truthful.
20:31I don't really like Aaron Rodgers.
20:32Oh, I wouldn't bail on Tua yet.
20:34Stop it.
20:35The question is, really, do you think that that one game, because it arguably was Tua's
20:42worst game, do you think that that game is an aberration or do you think that because Mike
20:52McDaniel has been figured out and Tyreek Hill has been stopped and Tua is, you know, arguably
21:01more injured and older, you know, all the stuff that goes with, what, what year is he in?
21:07Five?
21:08You're five?
21:09You're six?
21:09No.
21:10Six.
21:11Six?
21:11Six now.
21:12Is that more of what you expect from Tua?
21:17No.
21:17Or is that going to be an outlier?
21:22Outlier.
21:23Aberration.
21:23There's no way.
21:24There's no way Tua can score eight points a game.
21:27Has to be.
21:27But are we going to get...
21:29So, from being as good and accurate as he had been to that, that's like going from A
21:39to F, you know what I mean?
21:41Like, you go from A to B plus to B to B minus, like, there's gradations.
21:47You can't...
21:48I have a tough time believing that that kind of drop-off is possible.
21:55You're looking at it from a one-game sample size, though, man.
21:59Right.
21:59And I know the last...
22:00I know if you look at, like, his last few games, it leans in that direction.
22:05But it's never been that bad.
22:06It's never been that bad.
22:08It's never looked as bad as it did on Sunday.
22:10It's never other than the Green Bay game when he had a concussion.
22:13And there are some rumblings.
22:14There were some videos of Tua taking some hits Monday and...
22:18Or, I'm sorry, Sunday.
22:19And I don't know.
22:20Who knows?
22:20If that's the case, it's a bigger problem.
22:23But I'll just read you the stat again.
22:25Six and nine.
22:26Tua McDaniel, according to Barry Jackson.
22:28In their last 15 games that Tua's been available.
22:3114 interceptions.
22:32Eight Tua fumbles.
22:34And that season, when the Miami Dolphins had an outstanding year,
22:38and Tua was the most accurate passer in the NFL,
22:41their record against below 500 teams was outstanding.
22:45Their record against playoff teams was not.
22:48And Tua's stats dropped precipitously against those playoff teams.
22:52So, again, I know Tua's not as bad as we saw the other day.
22:57It's impossible.
22:58But I also don't think his best stats that we use that you guys like to point to are indicative of who he actually is in the NFL.
23:08Body of work.
23:09No.
23:10To your point, is Tua a 133 passing yards a game, three turnover quarterback?
23:16No.
23:17Are we going to get to 27, 28 points a game because that's what it takes to win games?
23:22I'm not going to say that either.
23:24We're not going from 8 to 30.
23:26We're going to go from 8 to 14 maybe.
23:30We're going to have to build this thing up.
23:31I think they're putting up 70.
23:33I think they're putting up 70.
23:34It would be so great.
23:36It would be so great.
23:37I'm looking for an alternate line right now.
23:39This is the thing is.
23:43All right.
23:43We got to wrap up this segment because we'll never get the DBJ calls in.
23:46We've got DBJ calls to get to from Saturday.
23:50So, let's wrap up headlines so we can get to the DBJ stuff.
23:55Your weather right now in South Florida, very hot, very humid, very rainy.
24:01That's your weather.
24:03Let's see what an alternate line is here.
24:09They're going to put up 50 hot.
24:13Red.
24:15Dolphins minus 12.5 is plus 525.
24:22And I think the Dolphins are two touchdowns better than New England.
24:24So, I'm going to lay that.
24:30You go to Ybor City and bet that yourself you're in Tampa.
