A boat sailing to Gaza as part of a flotilla that includes Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was struck by what organizers said was an incendiary device dropped by a drone while docked in Tunis.
The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which has organized dozens of boats to sail to Gaza carrying humanitarian aid, said that one of its main vessels was targeted in a drone strike just after midnight local time on Tuesday while docked near the Tunisian capital.
00:00Unfortunately, we have to tell the world that once again, our non-violent humanitarian and solidarity mission to Gaza,
00:24to break the siege and to create a humanitarian corridor, has been attacked.
00:29The team that was on the boat, they spotted a drone approaching.
00:34This drone flew above the boat, went to the front of the boat, to the bow of the boat and dropped an explosive device that put the boat on fire.
00:50Two of us stood there with the drone exactly three or four meters above our heads.
00:54Then we saw the drone move to the forward part of the deck.
00:59It stood a few seconds on top of a bunch of life jackets and then dropped a bomb.
01:06The bomb exploded and there was a big flame. There was a fire on board immediately.
01:13We picked up the fire extinguishers. We were able to fight the fire successfully.
01:19We are living in this mission. No action will stop us.
01:23People are mobilizing in Italy, in Greece and in other ports.
01:26And in the coming days, the flotilla will be united in the sea in our mission to break the siege, to end the genocide and to stand with the Palestinian people in their just struggle.
