00:00My name is Dr. Darien, and I'm an emergency physician and ABC News medical correspondent.
00:04Maternal mortality, you know, in the United States, in many states, is incredibly dangerous
00:10to have a baby today, especially if you're a woman of color. And so I think personally,
00:13people need to understand the difficulties in obtaining obstetric care. You know, we have more
00:18than 30 percent of counties in the United States that don't have an OB provider, and I think that's
00:23unacceptable in a country as wealthy as the United States. So my goal sometimes is to make sure that
00:28people understand the limitation of access and how difficult it is to get care. And if we can
00:33understand that, I think we can make good steps to providing that access for women in need.
00:38The youth, I think the younger generation, I think when I want to look to what I want to be
00:45in the
00:45future, it's I want to be that adult that has the ability to continue to change my mind based off
00:50of
00:50new information. And I learned that from young adults. I think the younger generation is really
00:55empowered to bring the facts forward. And I'm really inspired by that.
