Kiko, which forecasters say will weaken to a tropical storm, is likely to bring some rain and wind to Hawaii, but nothing major.

00:00When we take a look at the radar here, some of this is supplemented by satellite data.
00:04You'll notice, and we've talked about this, in fact, Anna did a special update on this last week,
00:09storms that severely impact Hawaii come in from the south because the water's still warm in that area,
00:14but when they come in from the east, they tend to deteriorate and weaken a bit because that water is a lot colder.
00:20So you can see the center of the storm is still way off to the east,
00:24but the storm is nothing like its former status when it was a Category 4 hurricane.
00:28Now it's a weakening Category 1 hurricane, 85-mile-per-hour max sustained winds.
00:33You can see this is kind of more disheveled than it once was,
00:36and the center of the storm is going to stay to the north by a pretty good margin, well to the north of Hawaii,
00:42and it'll become a tropical storm by this time tomorrow, probably overnight tonight or early tomorrow morning.
00:47And here we have future radar.
00:48It gives you a pretty good sense that, yes, there will be some showers and rain that clip the islands,
00:53but the core of the storm stays decisively north, one to two inches of rain likely.
00:57The AccuWeather local storm acts 10 inches.
01:00Now keep in mind, there are areas in Hawaii that see over 400 inches in an average year,
01:05so there's a little bit of enhancement here in the mountainous areas where we can see quite a bit more than the one to two inches
01:11under some heavy showers, but that's not as rare as a 10-inch rain event in other parts of the country.
01:16So some impacts are coming.
01:18We'll keep an eye out in the Atlantic, by the way, as we've been watching some tropical waves.
01:21Two low likelihood areas of development next weekend into the following week.
01:27Nothing urgent in the Atlantic.
01:28It's unusually quiet.
