Is it fair to say the biggest issue with the Miami Dolphins right now is a lack of culture in the locker room? Reacting to Rex Ryan's harsh comments about the Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.
00:02This is Rex Ryan going to town on Mike McDaniel.
00:09What are you talking about?
00:10Maybe he's on a different level, McGenius guy, whatever the hell he is,
00:14nerve boy.
00:15But anyway, their team has no respect for the coach.
00:20They play like that.
00:21They're like, come on, man, get us a dang guy in here.
00:25Where's the physicality of this team?
00:27What did you say?
00:29They're soft.
00:30They're soft.
00:30They're soft.
00:32I'm with you on that.
00:33Every part of their football team, they have tons of talent on this team.
00:37Daniel, we were talking, that's why you picked it to win.
00:40Because they have tons of talent.
00:41They don't play with any passion or any smoke to them.
00:47So Rex Ryan calls him McGenius and nerd boy.
00:51Now, Rex Ryan is more old school, similar to what most NFL
00:59coaches are like.
01:01Yeah.
01:04But, Hawk, I know, I personally know those guys that are from that,
01:11that it's really a Mike Shanahan tree, or Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay,
01:17Raheem Morris, Kevin O'Connell.
01:18Those guys are aggressive people.
01:24Mike McDaniel's not.
01:26Like, I thought, you know, Rex is doing it for TV, but Mike McDaniels.
01:29No, but Rex Ryan, I think aggressive people respect other aggressive people,
01:33and I don't think they respect non-aggressive people very much.
01:36I think Rex Ryan probably looks at Mike McDaniel as nerd boy and a joke.
01:41I think Rex Ryan is kind of the guy who says stats and numbers can all take a back seat.
01:51I know football.
01:53Nerds don't run football.
01:55I do.
01:57Tua Tonga-Vailoa is a more talented quarterback than Mark Sanchez.
02:01Rex took Mark Sanchez to two AFC Championship games.
02:04That's the aggressive part of it.
02:08Raheem Morris is not like Mike McDaniel.
02:10I'm cool.
02:10I've been in Raheem's house.
02:12Like, you know, we're friends.
02:15He's not.
02:17He's made like old school football.
02:19Kevin O'Connell's the same way.
02:21Where I think Rex is looking at these, like he said, guru, genius, analytical, nerd boy,
02:27whatever you want to call them, where those old school guys,
02:30and it's not just what you've been around.
02:32It's how you want your team to play.
02:35And I think McDaniel, I don't know if he lost the team, but Rex is saying he lost the team.
02:41They have a lot of talent.
02:42They just, they're getting beat by 25 points in the first game of the season.
02:46But Crowder, really quickly, you can't compare the era that Rex Ryan took that team to the AFC Championship game to now, to the era now.
02:56And also, that defense had literally a generational cornerback in Darrell Revis and was built to go and beat the Bradys and beat the Indianapolis Colts.
03:07And why did they fall short consistently?
03:08Because their offense stunk and Mark Sanchez stunk.
03:11I know I'm on an island here.
03:12I refuse to believe that this comes down to Mike McDaniel being a nerd or being walked over.
03:18I'm not saying that it doesn't influence the outcome, but at the end of the day, I think it's an easy narrative to fall back on.
03:25You have to get your guys to execute.
03:27In the game, your scheme has to be elite, and that's where McDaniel is consistently falling short.
03:34His scheme that we all praised over the past couple seasons in 2022 and 2023, no longer works.
03:42No longer works.
03:43The scheme didn't look like effort yesterday.
03:44The scheme didn't look like effort.
03:45Solana, you literally know.
03:47You sound like a Madden baby, where X and O's are going to come over.
03:53They're not going to overcome.
03:53Settle down, Rex Ryan.
03:54Settle down, Ryan Clark.
03:56You really sound like a Madden baby, Solana, where X and O's aren't going to overcome the toughness.
04:05That was a Bart Scott-led defense.
04:07I remember that defense.
04:08I was right in the thick of it.
04:12They had some dogs on defense.
04:14They had some ass-kicking human beings, Solana.
04:17X and O's and this and that, no.
04:19Did the defense carry Sanchez?
04:22Sanchez wasn't a good quarterback, but they went into every game knowing
04:26that they're going to bust people in the face.
04:27And by the fourth quarter, you don't want to get slapped in the head anymore.
04:30That's the difference.
04:32And in 2023, McDaniel's scheme, before it got figured out, we went into every game saying
04:36they're going to score 70 points.
04:38They're going to score 30 points.
04:39And now, he just hasn't shown the ability to be able to adjust his scheme and to adjust
04:45his play call.
04:45The scheme is so bad that they looked like a peewee team out there to the Indianapolis
04:50Colts?
04:50Like, you're saying that the scheme is so bad that they literally looked like they
04:55didn't belong on an NFL football field.
04:58And I'm saying, I don't think the difference between them looking how they did two seasons
05:03ago and them looking how they did yesterday in Indianapolis all comes down to the fact
05:08that McDaniel has lost the locker room because Crowder didn't say all, but there does seem
05:14to be a chasm between how they should be looking and acting on the field versus how they are.
05:24And, you know, like it kind of started with Tyreek Hill at the end of last season and then
05:29players bailing on it, the off season or whatever that like, it's not all, but that's part of
