00:00We know how Rick and Morty fans reacted, but how did the cast react to Justin Roiland's firing?

00:05The man behind Jerry Smith tells all.

00:07It's been over two years since Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland was fired by Adult Swim

00:12following allegations of behind-the-scenes misconduct, sexual harassment, and just generally being a dirtbag.

00:17And while we've heard a lot from Roiland's former partner Dan Harmon and countless angry YouTubers

00:21who may or may not be the same fans that went full January 6th over McDonald's Szechuan sauce,

00:25we haven't really gotten the perspective of the show's voice cast until now.

00:29On a recent podcast appearance, the hilarious Chris Parnell was asked about his work as the

00:33gloriously pathetic Smith family patriarch Jerry on Rick and Morty. Parnell recalled that he first

00:38heard about what was going on from showrunner Scott Marder during a recording session. And soon after

00:43that, the entire cast and crew were discussing the matter.

00:46Also, it was a big cast and production Zoom meeting, at least one, maybe more than one,

00:51where everybody got on to talk about it. And it was, it was heavy, you know?

00:56Yeah. A lot of people were very understandably upset about what had happened. And we were also

01:04all worried about the fate of the show. Like, are we going to get to keep doing this?

01:08Parnell also confessed that he and his collaborators were distressed by the fact that all of their

01:12efforts and the show's legacy itself might be tainted by one person's toxic behavior.

01:16People put so much work into something and to have the idea of, to have it be besmirched in any way or

01:23have something negative attached to it, um, was very, you know, demoralizing.

01:28With Roiland's roles recast, Parnell had nothing but good things to say about his new co-stars.

01:33Happily, you know, they did this amazing search and found Harry and Ian to play Morty and Rick,

01:39um, you know, and they're such delightful guys. They're, they're just lovely people,

01:45very excited to play the parts. And, you know, you just, it's, it's ultimately all for the best.

01:50So seemingly everything worked out and Rick and Morty will no doubt outlive us all.
