00:00The reason why I love this matchup between Michigan and Oklahoma is we got the quarterbacks, you know, last week, put up some numbers, get those snaps in here.
00:07And then you go into that big environment out in Oklahoma, a tough place to play.
00:11Talk to me, coach, about Michigan and Oklahoma and your expectations today.
00:14Well, it does start with the quarterbacks and it's much like quite often, not quite like last week, but you got a veteran quarterback in John Mateer coming over from Washington State.
00:24I thought he was the best quarterback in the portal last year going against a true rookie in Bryce under, Bryce quarterback, Bryce under, excuse me, I'm the quarterback for Michigan.
00:36I'm sorry, a true rookie and has not played in a ballgame going into a tough environment.
00:42And you have to go with that veteran quarterback in a very difficult situation.
00:46And then Brent Venables, the head coach, is also the defensive coordinator.
00:50I worked with him two years at Clemson.
00:52He'll have some exotic blitzes on that quarterback.
00:55If they can go back and slow down or stop that Michigan run, they go down and put a little more pressure on that quarterback underwood.
01:02And Michigan, I think Oklahoma's got the, got the line, got the advantage here.
01:08Coach from, from Michigan's perspective, what could Jerome Moore and the offensive staff do to, to make Bryce underwood comfortable going on a road environment,
01:18and true road environment in Norman, Oklahoma, from an offensive philosophy perspective, do you believe they come out the way maybe potentially C.J. Carr and Notre Dame did, throwing bubble screens to get them into a little bit of a rhythm?
01:31Well, if you're going to throw the ball, yes, absolutely.
01:34Throw things that are one read, not too far downfield.
01:38Don't make him read one or two or three receivers.
01:41Most importantly, make sure you can run the football and continue to try to run the football.
01:46Because the game plan for Oklahoma is to stop the running game and make that quarterback throw when he doesn't want to.
01:53Make him throw routes he doesn't want to throw.
01:55And then Venables, I know I've been there with him at Clemson.
01:59He's going to have some exotic blitzes.
02:01He's going to put pressure on that quarterback and make that quarterback perform under very difficult situations.
02:08That's why home field advantage, veteran quarterback, veteran D.C., I've got to go with Oklahoma on this one.
