00:05And again, love to have the coaching perspective here.
00:07John Mateer, he wants to play.
00:09Coaches don't like to give that much information away.
00:11So, number one, is Mateer going to play today, do you believe?
00:14Or also, is he just going to be used as a pawn to make sure that Texas has to worry about him, Coach?
00:19Yeah, I won't believe it until I see it.
00:21College coaches are not in tune with giving the right information like the NFL is.
00:27I'm sure the quarterback will tell you, I'm ready to play, Coach.
00:29I'm ready to play, but the coaches and the doctors will make that decision.
00:33If he's half ready or partially ready, that's not ready enough for a quarterback.
00:37My thoughts are, if he plays, no matter what Texas does, that one and a half is going to go to Oklahoma.
00:43But if he doesn't, I'm right here right now saying Texas is back to the wall.
00:48Texas has a very good football team.
00:49They have to win this game or they're out of the playoff possibilities.
00:54All Manning needs to do is not play super.
00:56Just manage the offense.
00:58Just play clean, hit the open receiver, and don't turn the ball over.
01:01And I think Texas will pull off the upset against a very, very good Oklahoma team whose defense statistically is a little bit overrated because of the three non-conference games they had.
01:11Coach, when you look at Texas, we talked about offensive identity.
01:15What is the biggest change from what you saw last year with Quinn Ewers to what we see with Arch Manning, inconsistent and struggling at least through six weeks of the season?
01:25I just think they've tried to manage Arch Manning too much.
01:30They've tried to, okay, how can we have a game plan that brings him along slowly?
01:34How can we have a game plan against somebody that's not very good where he throws it a million times?
01:38Everything's been built about making him feel better and progress.
01:41Let's play football.
01:42You've got great running backs.
01:43You've got great receivers.
01:44You do have good people on the line.
01:46Let's go run, pass, do the things you need to do for the offensive team to win.
01:50And I think they've paid too much attention to what do we got to do to get Arch ready to be good down the road.
01:56Now they just need to focus on what they need to do as a football team.
01:59Just Archie, just play clean, hit open receivers and don't turn it over and you'll have done your job.
02:05Coach, let's head down to the Plains, which you'll be today.
02:07That's Georgia and Auburn.
02:09And you know as well as I do, when you have close games in the SEC, they don't win.
02:12There's no moral victories there.
02:13You got to win.
02:14They're getting points from Georgia today.
02:16What's the outlook between Georgia and Auburn?
02:18I'm telling you, you know, three and a half points is about right.
02:21But let me tell you why I have got an interesting touch on this game.
02:25Last time I was here, 1997, I was coaching on the sideline for Georgia.
02:29The defensive back at Auburn, the defensive back at Georgia was Kirby Smart.
02:34He was on the field also.
02:36That's how long it's been.
02:37But it's a night game at Auburn against Georgia.
02:40This is the oldest game in the South, 1893.
02:44The upsets happen all the time.
02:46And again, I would just say, Georgia, if they play their best, Auburn has to do some things
02:51right.
02:51Quarterbacks got to play a good game, got to play better offense.
02:54But you know what?
02:54At the end of the day, I've got orange and blue on.
02:56They're going to kick a field goal and win the game for Auburn.
02:59And then, you know, it's to be fair.
03:04And you know what, you've got to do?
03:06Okay.
03:07Well, you know, the pressure's not going to get the son of the time.
