00:00:00Carson, Carson, the FBI is looking for me.
00:00:06I think, guys, look, the boys don't know I'm here, okay?
00:00:09But we got a really good Thursday show planned for you.
00:00:13Jersey Jerry's got to apologize to Steeler Nation.
00:00:15We got PFT, Mark Titus, and Big T here.
00:00:18Oh, God.
00:00:19We got Cate's Thursday Night Football roast.
00:00:21We're going to talk some Thursday Night Football,
00:00:22some NBA, college football, questions from a third grader,
00:00:25and a brand-new segment, Helped Up!
00:00:29And it all starts now on FS1.
00:00:53What's up, y'all?
00:00:54Welcome back.
00:00:55Wake Up Barstool FS1.
00:00:57That breakfast looked great.
00:00:59It does.
00:01:00I don't know if you saw that still shot right there.
00:01:01That makes me want some flapjacks.
00:01:02I'm in a pancake kick right now.
00:01:04Really?
00:01:04Yeah, a couple days in a row.
00:01:06What does that look like?
00:01:07Just pancakes every morning?
00:01:08You're doing pancakes at night?
00:01:09Night, night too.
00:01:10Yeah, night too.
00:01:11Wow.
00:01:11I'm a waffle guy.
00:01:13Ooh, waffles are good.
00:01:14I like pancakes, yeah.
00:01:14I like waffles.
00:01:15Well, there's some about the little squares that if you're a fat kid,
00:01:19they become containers for butter.
00:01:22Yeah.
00:01:23You like holes.
00:01:24You're a hole man.
00:01:24I've always been a hole man.
00:01:25I knew that the second I saw you.
00:01:26I mean, again, as you've alluded to,
00:01:29I might be the biggest hole man of the company.
00:01:30I think you are, T-Boy.
00:01:31The more evidence we are gathering here on Wake Up Barstool.
00:01:37I'm a crease guy, yeah.
00:01:38Oh, yeah.
00:01:39Yeah.
00:01:39Like the hip crease, you know, or like an elbow crease.
00:01:42I'm talking about food and food.
00:01:43Oh, OK.
00:01:44Yeah, my bad.
00:01:45Hip crease.
00:01:46Yeah, you know.
00:01:47Darren knows what I'm talking about with the hip crease, dude.
00:01:50Congratulations to us, guys.
00:01:52Stu Feiner on yesterday.
00:01:54And if you look behind Big T, two days since an SEC violation.
00:02:00Let's go.
00:02:01I saw you ripped into the whole 15, 15, 30, 15 minutes of push-ups.
00:02:05Yep.
00:02:05It's all about health.
00:02:0615 minutes of push-ups, 15 of sit-ups, and 30 of plank.
00:02:09Yeah.
00:02:09I believe.
00:02:10Alternating minutes.
00:02:11One minute on, one minute off for 30 minutes.
00:02:13The funniest part about that is I don't know Stu lore enough.
00:02:17I still don't know the actual 15, 15, 30.
00:02:20Oh, buddy.
00:02:21I mean, the more you say it, the more I want to tell you what it is.
00:02:24And the producers are immediately in my ear.
00:02:28Anyway, guys, as you can see, we got our Thursday lineup here.
00:02:30I'm so excited for a debut of a brand-new segment today.
00:02:35Helped up.
00:02:36Be on the lookout for that.
00:02:37We've got Kate with her Thursday Night Football roast, which you can't wait for as well.
00:02:41So let's go ahead and start with a little Thursday Night Football, boys.
00:02:45Yeah.
00:02:45Tonight, Vikings traveling to SoFi to take on the Chargers.
00:02:50And I was thinking about this this morning where, am I being gaslit into this J.J. McCarthy injury?
00:03:00Yeah.
00:03:00Because, like, I just accepted they have to play Carson Wentz.
00:03:03And then I kind of remembered and thought back, and I'm like, oh, wait.
00:03:06I don't think they do.
00:03:08I don't really know that I believe that J.J. McCarthy's that hurt.
00:03:10Adam Schefter did.
00:03:11He gaslit America right after the injury.
00:03:14He said, yeah, this is like a four-week injury, two to four weeks.
00:03:16And then last weekend, I think last Sunday, he goes, as we've said the whole time, this is like a six-week injury that we have to.
00:03:24It's like we have.
00:03:24He got community noted by his own tweet that he had.
00:03:27Oh, he got community noted by his own tweet?
00:03:29Oh, wow.
00:03:30Schefter led the charge on this?
00:03:31Schefter did, yeah.
00:03:32And he went to what university?
00:03:33I forget what school he went to.
00:03:34What school did he go to?
00:03:36I actually don't know.
00:03:37Oh.
00:03:37Michigan.
00:03:38He's a Michigan man.
00:03:38He's a Michigan man.
00:03:39Yeah.
00:03:40So it makes you think, T-Bomb, this goes all the way to the top.
00:03:43Yeah, because McCarthy was supposed to be back last week against the Eagles, right?
00:03:48Because I remember we were looking at the schedule, and it was like, oh, my God.
00:03:51They're going to throw him back in against Philly, and then this run that the Vikings have of a tough schedule.
00:03:57It is a little weird.
00:03:58It's very weird.
00:03:59It's a little weird.
00:04:00Wimpy hands.
00:04:00Yeah.
00:04:01Wimpy hands.
00:04:02What is this?
00:04:03What's going on here?
00:04:04Why would they do that?
00:04:05Why would they do that?
00:04:06Yeah.
00:04:07One of the all-time great moments.
00:04:08But I will say, even as a guy that I don't, I mean, J.J. McCarthy's looked awful in the little bit of football.
00:04:12He played one good quarter out of eight.
00:04:15Out of eight.
00:04:15Yes, one out of eight.
00:04:16It still feels way too early.
00:04:18Like, if we are to believe that there is some sort of conspiracy, maybe that's not the right word.
00:04:23There's something else at play other than he's just hurt, and they're trying to do, like, a soft benching.
00:04:27Yeah.
00:04:28Eight quarters, they need to give him more time, right?
00:04:31But at the same time, the Vikings are sort of in win-now mode.
00:04:33But if you're in win-now mode, Carson wins?
00:04:36Yeah, it's a weird win-now.
00:04:37It's a weird.
00:04:38It's just like, yeah.
00:04:38It's a weird win-now.
00:04:39So I'm very confused as to what's going on.
00:04:42Maybe they should just make McCarthy the closer.
00:04:45He only plays the fourth quarter.
00:04:46He plays the fourth quarter.
00:04:47Yeah, bring him off the bench.
00:04:49Play Interstandard.
00:04:49That's a bad idea.
00:04:50He comes sprinting out of the locker room, got the eye black on.
00:04:54It is very strange what's going on here.
00:04:56And I always thought, this whole summer, I thought it was weird the way the Vikings were handling the quarterback position.
00:05:02Yeah.
00:05:02Kind of flirting with Aaron Rodgers a little bit.
00:05:04Yeah.
00:05:05But then they were kind of, like, publicly denying that.
00:05:07But then they'd kind of be in on it.
00:05:08And after that, they traded away a bunch of their backup quarterbacks.
00:05:13And they had, obviously, Sam Darnold on the roster last year.
00:05:17They had Daniel Jones on the roster last year.
00:05:19So even before the summer began, they were kind of making a move saying, we're going to be all in on J.J.
00:05:24We put all our chips in on J.J. McCarthy.
00:05:26He's played two games.
00:05:27I just don't believe that you're going to take all the chips off.
00:05:30But also, he was bad.
00:05:32But he was also, what award did he win?
00:05:34Like, NFC player, NFL player of the week.
00:05:36I don't know.
00:05:36He had a great quarter.
00:05:38He had a great quarter.
00:05:39I don't like putting down the fourth quarter that he had.
00:05:41It was a pretty good fourth quarter.
00:05:42It was a pretty good fourth quarter.
00:05:43So if this is, if they are, in fact, like, oh, crap, he's just not good, that seems kind of insane to me, to make that decision after two games.
00:05:51It does seem.
00:05:52He's just a winner.
00:05:53He's just a winner.
00:05:54He just wins football games.
00:05:56That was.
00:05:57One time.
00:05:58He just wins football games one time.
00:06:00That was basically his entire kind of draft scouting profile, right?
00:06:04Yeah.
00:06:04It was like, not a lot of stats to look at.
00:06:06Not that many highlights.
00:06:08But, I mean, look at the wins, guys.
00:06:09Yeah.
00:06:09It's a great job by Harbaugh.
00:06:10Harbaugh gassed him up so hard before the draft.
00:06:13He's like, this is the best quarterback that I've ever seen at Michigan.
00:06:15Yeah.
00:06:16He's number one.
00:06:17And then, you know, he protected him while he was in school.
00:06:20He's like, we're just going to hand the ball off because we're winning football games.
00:06:23And when you are asked to pass, it's going to be really easy for you.
00:06:26You're going to look great at that.
00:06:27So, every NFL team is going to be like, what if he's just like that all the time?
00:06:30What if that's every throw?
00:06:32And here we are.
00:06:33We're being cheated out of the Harbaugh-McCarthy reunion.
00:06:36Yeah.
00:06:36We are.
00:06:37Yes.
00:06:37This should be, yeah.
00:06:38This should be getting to watch these two former allies going at one another.
00:06:44Yeah.
00:06:44I mean, is that why he's not playing tonight?
00:06:46Because Jim, if there's one coach in the world that knows exactly how good J.J. McCarthy is,
00:06:50it would be Jim Harbaugh.
00:06:51I think Harbaugh likes him so much that he would call off the dogs.
00:06:53Yeah.
00:06:53Out of respect.
00:06:54Out of respect.
00:06:55He'd be like, hey, we're going to drop back in a nice soft zone against you.
00:06:57You do your thing.
00:06:58I got a stat for you, T-Bob.
00:07:00Ooh.
00:07:00Ready for this fun stat?
00:07:01I love fun facts.
00:07:03I'm pretty sure every other show is probably going to talk about this today, but I'm going
00:07:06to say it.
00:07:06Okay.
00:07:07Carson Wentz, 7-0 on Thursday nights.
00:07:10There you go.
00:07:11Never lost a game.
00:07:12He's the inverse Tomlin, Jim.
00:07:13Yes, he is.
00:07:15So, this might actually be a good time to be in Wentz Now mode.
00:07:19Yeah, we're in Wentz Now mode.
00:07:21This is the ideal Wentz Now scenario here.
00:07:23Who could forget the last time Carson Wentz played on a Thursday night?
00:07:26It was against the Chicago Bears as the quarterback of the Commanders.
00:07:29It might have been the football team at the time.
00:07:31No, probably Commanders.
00:07:33Who could forget?
00:07:34I think it was 13-9.
00:07:36Yep.
00:07:37Beat the Bears.
00:07:38I remember it well.
00:07:39Yeah.
00:07:39I think we scored until late in the third quarter, kicked a field goal, then.
00:07:43Yeah, I think that's right.
00:07:43A little touchdown, and did not make an extra point.
00:07:46I remember thinking the field goal was not going to go in, and then it snuck right in
00:07:50there.
00:07:50Off the floor, it was like, ah.
00:07:51Yeah, I was a little unsure.
00:07:52That's how Wentz magic.
00:07:53Yeah.
00:07:56As far as the Chargers go, this is kind of a, maybe not like last stand, but this is
00:08:02a big moment here, right?
00:08:03Like, I know we're approaching this from the Vikings' perspective, but the Chargers season,
00:08:07after the solid start, they're injured to all hell.
00:08:09The O-line is absolutely awful.
00:08:11They look like they're on the edge of falling apart.
00:08:14How are you?
00:08:15Like, Jared, what do you, what do you, what's your read on this Vikings-Chargers game?
00:08:19Yeah, I like the Vikings in this spot.
00:08:21Really?
00:08:21I mean, maybe I shouldn't be talking about it.
00:08:22Even on the road is so fine.
00:08:23Maybe I shouldn't be talking football.
00:08:24I don't know.
00:08:26I do like the Vikings in this spot.
00:08:28I mean, they're down, both their tackles, right?
00:08:29Yeah.
00:08:30Out for the year.
00:08:30Both running backs out for the year.
00:08:32I don't think they're down, I don't think Alts out for the year, is he?
00:08:35Maybe not out for the year.
00:08:36Sean Slater's out for the year, but I think he's not.
00:08:38Is he coming back this game, Al?
00:08:39I don't know.
00:08:39I'll look it up, I'll look it up.
00:08:40I don't believe so.
00:08:42I don't know.
00:08:42I just feel like the Chargers defense got to step it up a little bit.
00:08:45They got to step it up.
00:08:46They were the talk of the town early on in the year, fell apart a little bit.
00:08:50They got to step it up, but something about Wentz, man.
00:08:54Something about Wentz.
00:08:54Something about him, man.
00:08:55Don't discount Wentz, yeah.
00:08:57I've reached the point where I, once again, kind of feel bad for Justin Herbert.
00:09:02It happens every year.
00:09:02Yeah.
00:09:03No, don't.
00:09:04So that's the argument that you have about Herbert.
00:09:06It's like, some people are like, this guy's good enough to be an elite quarterback.
00:09:10He's a great leader.
00:09:11He's got all the tools.
00:09:12And then other people are like, mad at him because he hasn't won anything in the playoffs.
00:09:16I still think he's going to be a great, I think he is a very, very good quarterback.
00:09:19I do too.
00:09:20To Herbert.
00:09:21Yeah.
00:09:21But I do feel bad for him this season because he's just getting hit to hell.
00:09:24Like, he's got absolutely no protection.
00:09:26Oh, he's getting home.
00:09:27He's getting whatever he wants when he gets home.
00:09:29You know that.
00:09:29How bad can you feel about it?
00:09:33Okay, I'm talking about between the white lines.
00:09:35All right, fair.
00:09:36I like Dave's logic from Monday was that, like, not only is he not impressed with Justin Herbert,
00:09:43but he doesn't even care about that because Dave's got Madison Beer's number in his phone.
00:09:46I've seen that.
00:09:47Yeah, yeah, classic.
00:09:49I need Dave's team to start being bad.
00:09:53I don't like this.
00:09:53We'll get to the Patriots in a minute.
00:09:54Here's what Stephen Heiglund says about Joe Ault.
00:09:58Okay, in weeks one through three, he was incredible.
00:10:00Three pressures allowed.
00:10:01Fifth few instantly.
00:10:02He had the seventh best pass blocking grade.
00:10:04The sixth best pass blocking win rate.
00:10:07Since he got hurt, tackle behind him has allowed four sacks, nine hits, 22 breaks.
00:10:12It's been a disaster.
00:10:13Oh, my God.
00:10:13And he did return to practice this week.
00:10:15It looks like from a high ankle sprain, but it is not confirmed as to whether or not he will play tonight.
00:10:20So, that's big.
00:10:21That's very big.
00:10:21I mean, that could be massive.
00:10:24And actually, we can talk to Jared Allen about how massive that could be here in a little bit
00:10:27because he'll be coming up in a couple of segments.
00:10:30We'll get the final predictions on the Thursday night football game later.
00:10:33It's another big one.
00:10:35First time in a few weeks where we don't have an obvious favorite?
00:10:39Like, we've had three weeks in a row where it's been like we've all, I think, to a man said this team's going to win
00:10:43and then the opposite has happened.
00:10:44Yeah, it's tough.
00:10:45Both teams are kind of in a weird, sad position right now.
00:10:49Yeah.
00:10:49And whoever loses, that's the saddest team in the league.
00:10:53Yeah, that's a very fair point.
00:10:55They're kind of stuck in a bit of purgatory here.
00:10:58And one of them will be able to maybe start that road to ascension
00:11:01while the other will just remain floating somewhere in between heaven and hell,
00:11:05questioning if that's going to be where they're destined to get forever
00:11:08unless their relatives can pray them to one side or the other.
00:11:10Light some candles.
00:11:11Obviously, they're worse teams in the league than whoever loses this game.
00:11:16But I feel like both these teams, they had a lot of expectations even after a couple weeks of the season.
00:11:21And then to find yourself in this spot, that's a tough place.
00:11:24That's been both of these franchises for a decade.
00:11:27Okay, so you know it's actually, I need to find the numbers, but this spring I got in a Vikings hole
00:11:35and they are the most successful NFL franchise like ever.
00:11:45Yeah.
00:11:45Like they just haven't won a Super Bowl.
00:11:46But like overall winning percentage, consistency, like they're actually incredible.
00:11:51They are never that bad.
00:11:53No, ever.
00:11:54They never bottom out.
00:11:55It's crazy.
00:11:56Which I imagine could be frustrating.
00:11:58You know, like the NFL isn't quite like the NBA.
00:12:00In the NBA, you want to tank because you can get the number one.
00:12:02One pick will flip your entire franchise.
00:12:04The NFL isn't quite that.
00:12:05But it's got to be similar enough that it's probably frustrating in a Vikings.
00:12:09But you're never good enough to win the Super Bowl, but you're also never good enough to,
00:12:12when there's a generational quarterback coming out, you know, to get the first pick to reset everything.
00:12:17Well, and it's like, you know, generational quarterbacks fail as often as they work.
00:12:21Big T.
00:12:22Good morning.
00:12:23Oh, you feel a little sad because Tony Vitello left and went to San Francisco.
00:12:26Oh, sorry.
00:12:27I wasn't supposed to ask you about that yet.
00:12:28My bad.
00:12:29Also, what was that?
00:12:30What was that for?
00:12:31That was a little condescending.
00:12:32Just, oh, look at me.
00:12:33I'm Big T.
00:12:33What was that for?
00:12:34That was really odd.
00:12:35I'm so sad.
00:12:37I'm so sad.
00:12:37Tony Vitello left and now he's managing the Giants.
00:12:42I'm remarkably confused.
00:12:45I don't.
00:12:46Good.
00:12:47We got two hours left.
00:12:49That's what that voice does to you.
00:12:49It makes a question.
00:12:52It's a question.
00:12:53Are you sad?
00:12:55Do you have a read on this game tonight?
00:12:59No.
00:13:00Okay.
00:13:00Listen, say what you want about Big T. The man is honest.
00:13:07He will tell you he's a wreck.
00:13:09Yes.
00:13:09I agree with that.
00:13:10He tells it how it is.
00:13:11Honest and very confident.
00:13:12Very confident.
00:13:13It's tough to tear Big T down.
00:13:15Mm-hmm.
00:13:16And very good at basketball.
00:13:17He whipped my ass in that tournament, which still pisses me off.
00:13:20It's a problem in the low-cost.
00:13:21You're the Tennessee baseball manager took the San Francisco Giants job?
00:13:25Yeah.
00:13:25I mean, that's kind of big news, right?
00:13:28This is the first time that's ever happened.
00:13:29The first time that's ever happened.
00:13:30Yeah.
00:13:30Guess who his agent is?
00:13:32Jimmy Sexton.
00:13:33This guy.
00:13:34This guy.
00:13:35Sexton.
00:13:36He pisses off a new fan base every week.
00:13:39It's unbelievable.
00:13:40Yeah.
00:13:40I think his approval rating is probably lower than Joe Buck.
00:13:43You know, everyone who thinks, oh, this announcer roots against my team.
00:13:45Oh, yeah.
00:13:46He's, like, actively making every team worse all the time.
00:13:49He's just leveraging and swindling every single school in America.
00:13:53I respect it.
00:13:54I don't know what he looks like.
00:13:55I don't know how old he is.
00:13:56I don't know what he sounds like.
00:13:58I know nothing about this guy other than his name.
00:13:59I don't want to know.
00:14:00Bro, you don't know what he looks like?
00:14:02You've got to see it.
00:14:03Bro, you've got to see what he looks like.
00:14:04You're not listening to what I'm saying.
00:14:06Jimmy Sexton in my head right now is perfect.
00:14:09I don't want to know anything else about him.
00:14:10No, it'll make him more perfect, I promise.
00:14:12He looks so funny, dude.
00:14:13He looks so funny.
00:14:14This feels like being a diehard fan of a book and then seeing the movie.
00:14:19This is how I pictured it in my head.
00:14:21I promise, Mark.
00:14:21Also, you know he went to the University of Tennessee
00:14:24and has spent the last 30 years just making us give him copious amounts of money.
00:14:30Oh, Sexton's a Tennessee grad.
00:14:32Yes.
00:14:32I did not know that.
00:14:33Wow.
00:14:33Wow.
00:14:34So what's crazy about this move, and Big T and I have talked about this a little bit
00:14:36on macrodosing, but making a move to become a Major League Baseball manager
00:14:41from being a college coach, it does feel like, number one,
00:14:45why are the Giants paying an enormous amount of money?
00:14:49You're a manager.
00:14:50You set the lineups.
00:14:51You manage egos.
00:14:52Yeah.
00:14:52As a college coach, you're actively coaching.
00:14:55The job is completely different being a manager in Major League Baseball
00:14:59as opposed to being a college head coach.
00:15:01I don't know why this is a move that the Giants would make.
00:15:04It's like, this guy's going to manage our lineup so well
00:15:07that we'll get put over the top.
00:15:08No, he's a great developer of talent.
00:15:09He's a great coach.
00:15:11It's a weird move for me.
00:15:12T, I'll ask your opinion, because Tony Vitello in SEC circles,
00:15:17opposing fan bases hate him because he's brash and confident,
00:15:20but it seems like the boys love him.
00:15:23Like, it's not like a Nick Saban, like, Nick Saban goes to the NFL
00:15:27and tries to teen NFL players like college kids, and it's a disaster, right?
00:15:29Well, I think he got hired because Drew Gilbert,
00:15:32who played for him at Tennessee, is now on the Giants,
00:15:34told Buster Posey, like, you need to interview this guy.
00:15:37Oh, yeah, that's right, because they love Gilbert.
00:15:39Little jackrabbit in there.
00:15:41Yeah, players love him.
00:15:42Energy, energizer.
00:15:43I think he's going to be great at his job.
00:15:44It's just a matter of you don't really control all that much on the field.
00:15:49I mean, he can be great, and then they could still be 500,
00:15:51and then he gets fired.
00:15:53Yeah, how much is the best manager worth in terms of wins and losses?
00:15:56Like, what's the best war?
00:15:58Three.
00:15:58Three.
00:15:58Your Cubs, I mean, Council, I think,
00:16:01is the highest paid manager in the MLB, $8 million a year.
00:16:04When he was with the Brewers, they would win the division.
00:16:07Yep.
00:16:08And then he went to the Cubs, and the Brewers win the division.
00:16:11Yeah.
00:16:13Okay, so kind of to the point.
00:16:16So are the Giants going to be,
00:16:18do you think he's going to bring his culture of much baggery to San Francisco
00:16:22and turn the Giants into, I mean, you know.
00:16:25I think that's a false read on the situation.
00:16:27On Tennessee baseball?
00:16:28Yeah.
00:16:29I mean, every time you turn on a Tennessee baseball.
00:16:30It's just the boys love to play ball.
00:16:33And they go out there, and they're going to, they're going to.
00:16:38Yeah.
00:16:38I'm always fascinated by that.
00:16:40The stark contrast between watching a college baseball game
00:16:43and a Major League Baseball game, and like Major League Baseball,
00:16:45you do like one bat flip, you get a ball thrown at your face.
00:16:48College baseball, like guys will like take one pitch,
00:16:51it's outside of the zone, and they'll just grab their nuts at the pitcher.
00:16:54Speaking of Drew Gilbert.
00:16:56It's just like part of the culture in college baseball.
00:16:58I don't know if you've ever seen the clip of Drew Gilbert.
00:17:00He had a walk-off home run in the NCAA tournament,
00:17:02and the bat flip is, it's not a flip.
00:17:04He throws it, I don't know if we can get that clip.
00:17:06He throws it to the moon.
00:17:07And it's like not, it's not viewed as like bad in college.
00:17:10In college, it's like that's part of the game.
00:17:12This is how we do it in college.
00:17:13Wasn't there the other Tennessee clip from this year?
00:17:16It might have been a tournament game, but where he's like,
00:17:19the batter's like stepping out the box,
00:17:20and he's like pumping up the crowd mid-end.
00:17:23And that led, you know what happened right after that.
00:17:26The Wake Forest coach said something on television you cannot say.
00:17:30And then he did hit a home run, which was incredible.
00:17:33Yeah.
00:17:33Do you think, like, if you get Vitello as a Major League Baseball manager,
00:17:37they're thinking we're going to get more free agents because we can be like,
00:17:39hey, our manager's a really cool guy.
00:17:41Yeah, he's a cool guy.
00:17:42I do think that plays into it a little bit.
00:17:46I mean, San Francisco has been close on getting,
00:17:48they were obviously very close on getting Aaron Judge, reportedly.
00:17:51They've come close to getting some guys.
00:17:53I think guys love playing for him.
00:17:55Now, does Jimmy Sexton represent any upcoming free agents?
00:17:58That's what you guys started looking at.
00:18:00Oh, here's Drew Gilbert.
00:18:02There's the homer against Wright State, walk-off grand slam.
00:18:06There's one that shows the bat flip.
00:18:08He still hasn't even left the box.
00:18:11It's crazy.
00:18:13This was such a sick moment, though.
00:18:15Hell, yeah.
00:18:16Big T, is this the one that's the worst pitch thrown of all time?
00:18:19If you go back and watch the pitch, it's the worst pitch ever thrown in the history of competitive baseball.
00:18:24Okay, here we go.
00:18:26That's a bad pitch.
00:18:27That is such a bad pitch.
00:18:30And you never see it land.
00:18:33That was, short of winning the national title,
00:18:37that was probably the best moment of the Vitello era.
00:18:40So he bat flips on this one?
00:18:41Oh, there's, yeah.
00:18:42Jeremy, I don't know if you can find it,
00:18:44but there's one that, I think MLB posted it yesterday,
00:18:47but he throws it 25 feet in the air.
00:18:49God.
00:18:50I'll find, I'll send it, we'll have it later.
00:18:52I hope the San Francisco, I hope Vitello brings that to the Giants.
00:18:55That would be fun.
00:18:56And he encourages it, and the Giants just lean in.
00:18:58They become the Tennessee, the NBA.
00:19:00I mean, it's orange and black to orange and black.
00:19:03I hadn't even considered that.
00:19:04Good color continuity there.
00:19:07That poor pitcher for Wright State.
00:19:09What if he's watching this right now, and he's like,
00:19:11he's like, what the hell, God?
00:19:12He's trying to enjoy his morning.
00:19:13I love Wake Up Barstool.
00:19:14Yeah, he finally got over it, and he's like,
00:19:16let me put on my favorite morning sports.
00:19:17Yeah, sorry, buddy.
00:19:19It's football season.
00:19:20They surely won't be talking college baseball.
00:19:22Yeah.
00:19:22The A block.
00:19:23Oh.
00:19:25Ha ha, not so fast.
00:19:27Okay, okay, we got to get to break,
00:19:28but first, I think we have the angle of the bat flip.
00:19:31Yeah, here we go.
00:19:32Let's see this thing.
00:19:33Oh, look at him, dude.
00:19:35No way.
00:19:36I can use it like a...
00:19:36No way.
00:19:37Oh, my God.
00:19:38No way.
00:19:39He's the man.
00:19:40Oh, my God.
00:19:41Did that bat ever land?
00:19:42That's like Prince after his solo,
00:19:44and my guitar gently weeps,
00:19:46where he just throws the guitar up and walks away.
00:19:49Thank you, Tony.
00:19:50We love you.
00:19:51Yeah, Tony Vitella did some incredible things in Tennessee.
00:19:54All right, coming up next,
00:19:55we'll get to some of the NFL conversations
00:19:57that we had planned,
00:19:59and Jerry wants to take a moment
00:20:01to address Steeler Nation.
00:20:03So don't go anywhere, guys.
00:20:04We've got more Wake Up Barstool coming up
00:20:06on FS1.
00:20:08I want to steal the bean.
00:20:09I want to heist the bean.
00:20:10It's like...
00:20:11It sounds like a Despicable Me plot.
00:20:13Yeah, I'm in place.
00:20:16What up?
00:20:16Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool
00:20:17here on FS1.
00:20:20So it's Thursday.
00:20:22Last Thursday, Thursday night football.
00:20:24Jerry Steeler's playing Thursday night football,
00:20:26and we were all feeling very confident, you know?
00:20:29Got flackoed.
00:20:30Joe Flacco, been there 10 days,
00:20:33played a half a football up to that point.
00:20:35Surely, surely, surely,
00:20:37he wasn't going to be able to go on there
00:20:39and throw for over 350 yards,
00:20:41multiple touchdowns, and win the game.
00:20:43Right, surely, no.
00:20:44Flacco gets better.
00:20:45He's gotten better every quarter
00:20:46he's played this season.
00:20:47That's fair.
00:20:47Yeah.
00:20:48And so, as we were breaking it down,
00:20:51here's what our guy, Jer,
00:20:52had to say last week about the game.
00:20:54We don't need Aaron Rodgers
00:20:55to throw for 303 touchdowns.
00:20:58You know, the defense will keep us in the game.
00:21:00Offense will have a couple explosive plays.
00:21:02DK Metcalf building some chemistry with Rodgers.
00:21:06The defense is getting healthy.
00:21:08I just, there's no, there's, like, zero.
00:21:10Clip it.
00:21:10You can clip this.
00:21:11There's zero chance the Bengals win this game.
00:21:13Click zero.
00:21:14Let's go.
00:21:15Wow.
00:21:16The Steelers are putting up 30 tonight.
00:21:18Wow.
00:21:20Yeah, I put my baby's college phone on the Steelers
00:21:23after I heard that.
00:21:24Yeah, you want to apologize to Mark?
00:21:25Jer, if you want to...
00:21:27Daughter?
00:21:28Yeah.
00:21:29Well, not just apologize to Mark.
00:21:30We need to open up the apology to
00:21:32the dealer nation, the country.
00:21:34Yeah, of course.
00:21:34The floor is yours.
00:21:35Of course.
00:21:36Yeah, I got everything written down here.
00:21:38Jerry texted me yesterday,
00:21:39and he said,
00:21:39I just wrote my Steelers apology.
00:21:42I cried while I was right.
00:21:44So I think this is going to be good.
00:21:45Which camera am I at?
00:21:47All right, straight ahead.
00:21:48All right.
00:21:49All right.
00:21:50All right.
00:21:50Um, I stand before you today not as an expert,
00:21:55um, not as a ball knower,
00:21:58but as a man who believed in the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
00:22:01To the millions who trust in my pick,
00:22:05I am sorry.
00:22:07Yeah.
00:22:07I can promise it won't happen again.
00:22:10Where do I start?
00:22:11Turn your hat around, Jerry,
00:22:12so people can see your face.
00:22:13Keep the music going, guys.
00:22:14Keep the music going.
00:22:15To know that you're sorry.
00:22:16I used to walk to school with my best friend,
00:22:18Nicky Numbers.
00:22:19Wow.
00:22:20He would wear his Cowboys jersey,
00:22:22and I would wear my Steelers jersey.
00:22:24Kids used to always pick on Nicky,
00:22:26just for being a Cowboys fan.
00:22:29They'd call him names, take his lunch.
00:22:31They even went as far as gifting him a Tony Romo jersey one year on Christmas.
00:22:37He was so happy.
00:22:39Then he opened the box,
00:22:41and the kids duct taped the R to an H.
00:22:46He was devastated.
00:22:49He was the laughing stock at school.
00:22:52As for me,
00:22:54I was feared.
00:22:57Kids used to scatter the hallways when I would wear my Troy Palmolo jersey.
00:23:02They were scared of me,
00:23:03just like people used to be scared of the Pittsburgh Steelers when they had to play them.
00:23:07How the times have changed.
00:23:09Nobody fears the Steelers anymore,
00:23:12and I mean nobody.
00:23:13The standard used to be Super Bowls.
00:23:16Now they're just nine and eight seasons,
00:23:18one and done in the playoffs,
00:23:19if they're lucky to backdoor their way in.
00:23:23At some point,
00:23:24the never-ending phrase that people use in media,
00:23:29never had a losing season,
00:23:31means nothing anymore.
00:23:32Last week's loss reminded me how far this team is away from actually winning anything.
00:23:41This is the same team.
00:23:43This is the same story.
00:23:45I read this book a million times.
00:23:48The moral of the story is this.
00:23:52God's sake.
00:23:53Me and Nicky Numbers are the same person.
00:23:55Oh.
00:23:56I always thought I was superior,
00:23:58but I'm just as big of a loser as he is.
00:24:02I will never guarantee another Steelers win again.
00:24:07I'm sorry.
00:24:13I know that was hard, Jerry.
00:24:15I know that's tough to do.
00:24:16That was big of you, Jerry.
00:24:18Yeah.
00:24:19Jerry, I thought you hit all the right notes.
00:24:22Yeah.
00:24:22I got news for you, though.
00:24:24The Steelers are going to win this weekend.
00:24:26Oh, I know.
00:24:27Trust me.
00:24:28Yeah.
00:24:31This is what they do.
00:24:33The fact that you're up there apologizing for such a bad loss.
00:24:36This is the perfect game that Tomlin's like,
00:24:38yeah, we're just going to go ahead and win this one.
00:24:39I'm not going to guarantee it.
00:24:41Sunday night?
00:24:42I'm not going to guarantee it.
00:24:43Home against the Packers?
00:24:44But this is what they do.
00:24:46This is it.
00:24:46They look terrible.
00:24:48Then they play a superior team the next week.
00:24:50Like, their dogs, Mike Tomlin at home, gets the guy.
00:24:54I mean, this guy can motivate a rock.
00:24:56Rodgers' revenge game?
00:24:57Is it really a revenge game?
00:24:59Rodgers says no.
00:25:00Yeah, it is.
00:25:01And can't we trust him, though?
00:25:03I feel like he's a little close to the case.
00:25:06A million percent, this is where he's had vivid hallucinations
00:25:10about this exact moment, probably on a weekly basis
00:25:12for the last six months.
00:25:14It's definitely a revenge game.
00:25:15He didn't like how things ended in Green Bay.
00:25:18Well, and Jordan Love, Jordan Love basically cosplays
00:25:22as Aaron Rodgers.
00:25:24Like, if you look at his style of play, like his form,
00:25:26how he moves, he looks exactly like a young Rodgers,
00:25:30if maybe not as good quite yet.
00:25:33Even though, I don't know, our producer Jeremy yesterday
00:25:35was talking about Jordan Love and the Packers,
00:25:38and he was like, kind of getting a little aggressive with me
00:25:42about like, why don't we talk about Jordan Love more?
00:25:44Why aren't the Packers getting more credit?
00:25:45And I was kind of a bit, I was like, where's this coming from?
00:25:50And then he dropped a wee.
00:25:52Oh, he's like, okay, okay, okay.
00:25:57I see, I see what we're dealing with here.
00:25:59Pulled the wee out, huh?
00:26:00He pulled the wee out.
00:26:01He exposed himself as being a cheesehead.
00:26:03I got a story from last night, actually.
00:26:06I had a, my son had a, your kids ever go to like the concert
00:26:10at school, they got to sing and stuff like that?
00:26:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:26:13They had one of those last night.
00:26:15So I went there, and great concert, by the way, the kids were awesome.
00:26:19And afterwards, we go to the classroom, and they have their little snacks
00:26:22and juice boxes and whatnot.
00:26:23And there's a guy, and I regret it right now, and I'm pissed off about it.
00:26:29There was a guy there, one of the kids' fathers.
00:26:32Yeah.
00:26:33And, you know, I'm there with my girlfriend and my kids,
00:26:36and he's there with his kids and his wife, and he's talking to another dad.
00:26:40He's talking about Wisconsin, he grew up there, and he's a Packers fan,
00:26:44and he hates Aaron Rodgers now.
00:26:46He hates him.
00:26:46And he's saying, can't wait, exact words, can't wait for Micah
00:26:52to put him six feet under.
00:26:53That's what he said.
00:26:54Oh, wow.
00:26:55Death, putting the death, oh.
00:26:56And I was, and my girlfriend was looking at me,
00:26:59and I was just like really, really angry.
00:27:01And I wanted to say something that I didn't,
00:27:02because I didn't want, you know, in front of the kids.
00:27:05If the Steelers win, I got something for this guy.
00:27:08I got something for this guy if they win.
00:27:10Gary, I feel like old you would have said something.
00:27:12Back when you were feared.
00:27:14Yeah, yeah, no, I'm just not feared anymore.
00:27:16He's Nicky Numbers.
00:27:17It's sad to hear people talk about your team that way.
00:27:19Yeah, you know, it is.
00:27:21Maybe if I didn't have kids, I would have reacted different.
00:27:23Well, you probably wouldn't have been there
00:27:24if you didn't have kids at the school.
00:27:26It would have been odd.
00:27:27That's a good point.
00:27:28It would have been odd if you had gone to the recital.
00:27:32I'm just a big fan of a local elementary recital.
00:27:35I love live music.
00:27:39I love live music.
00:27:40What's the latest with the offensive linemen who tackled Rodgers?
00:27:45Do they hate each other?
00:27:45No, no, no.
00:27:46Oh, that was so funny.
00:27:47It's great now.
00:27:48Everything's good.
00:27:49Everything's fine.
00:27:49We don't have to worry about that moving forward.
00:27:50Yeah, Rodgers said he's going to get him back,
00:27:52so we'll see what happens.
00:27:52I got a question for you, Jerry, though.
00:27:54You talked last week before you made your prediction.
00:27:57You said that the Steelers' defense is going to bang them up pretty good.
00:28:02That, to me, is the biggest worry, is the Steelers' defense.
00:28:04They're the last against the pass in the NFL.
00:28:07Dead last.
00:28:07What's going on with that?
00:28:08I really don't know.
00:28:12I think they're just, like, just slow.
00:28:15Is Jalen Ramsey old?
00:28:16Yeah, they're old, maybe.
00:28:17Yeah, but Ramsey has played pretty good this year so far.
00:28:20He had the walk-off hit.
00:28:21You know what it is?
00:28:22Week one, which is badass.
00:28:23Yeah, which is awesome.
00:28:24I think Mike Tomlin is just so stuck in his ways.
00:28:28I mean, it goes back to Edelman, I think, last year or the year before,
00:28:30said on a podcast, we know what the Steelers are going to do.
00:28:33They've been doing the same thing for 20 years.
00:28:35So I think teams just know what they're going to do.
00:28:39And if their pass rush isn't getting home, it's over.
00:28:42Yeah.
00:28:42That makes sense.
00:28:43TJ didn't really look like himself last week, did he?
00:28:48Yeah, no.
00:28:50I thought you told him.
00:28:52I mean, am I wrong?
00:28:53No, he's not wrong.
00:28:54I'm a bigger TJ Watt fan than you.
00:28:57This had nothing to do with TJ.
00:28:59This is just Eric just doing his thing and getting me upset.
00:29:03I bet on TJ Watt last week to get two sacks, did I not?
00:29:06You did.
00:29:07You bet on him to get one sack.
00:29:08You didn't believe in him as much as I did.
00:29:09You believed in him twice as much as Jerry.
00:29:11Twice as much as Jerry.
00:29:11And I was concerned with what I saw.
00:29:13You have to understand what TJ's going through right now.
00:29:16He's getting triple teamed the highest in the NFL.
00:29:19He's getting double teamed the second highest.
00:29:22And he's getting chipped the highest.
00:29:25Have you messaged him again to kind of help him through this?
00:29:29I messed up big time.
00:29:30And before the game, I sent him a really, really deep Mike Tomlin speech from years ago.
00:29:38And it was confirmed scene and it was no response.
00:29:42No reaction, no thumbs up, no heart.
00:29:45And he never does that.
00:29:46Wow.
00:29:47Never.
00:29:47Don't you think he has like enough Mike Tomlin on a day-to-day basis?
00:29:52Okay.
00:29:52He's like a throwback.
00:29:53Yeah, I wasn't realizing that.
00:29:55Yeah, a Mike Tomlin speech just noised him at any point.
00:29:58Yeah.
00:29:59That was a mistake.
00:30:00You're putting water in the ocean.
00:30:01Boys, boys, I just got some crazy news in my ear.
00:30:06Okay.
00:30:07We have breaking NBA news.
00:30:08For those that don't know, PFT's been on the case all morning long.
00:30:12Yeah, I've been refreshing Twitter.
00:30:13That's maybe.
00:30:13But, yes, yeah.
00:30:14I mean, it's reporting.
00:30:15Reporting, yeah.
00:30:16Yeah, reporting.
00:30:17The FBI is currently investigating, it looks like, NBA gambling rings.
00:30:23Scary Terry Rozier's kind of already gotten caught up in it.
00:30:27And names are supposed to be coming out more and more.
00:30:29And we have just got news from Shams that Chauncey Billups, head coach of the Portland Trailblazers,
00:30:37been arrested by the FBI for NBA gambling sources tell ESPN.
00:30:42The Jailblazer's back?
00:30:44Jailblazer's back.
00:30:45This is, uh.
00:30:46Where's Rasheed?
00:30:47I didn't think that there was going to be a coach involved, but I guess a coach would
00:30:50have more control over all the over-unders than anybody else, right?
00:30:54Is that what the bets were?
00:30:55Just over-unders?
00:30:56Well, I'm saying, I don't know.
00:30:57Oh, okay.
00:30:58We're still investigating the case.
00:30:59Okay, gotcha.
00:31:00The Jailblazer came out a second ago, but now that I'm thinking about it, like, an NBA
00:31:03head coach would be in a position to just win every bet.
00:31:07Yeah.
00:31:07Oh, yeah, easily.
00:31:08Yeah.
00:31:09Which player goes over-under points, you know what I mean?
00:31:11And if you're a player, I always, and we were talking about this before the show started,
00:31:15but if you're an NBA player, you have guaranteed contracts, you make a ton of money, even if
00:31:20you're the last guy on the bench.
00:31:21The head coaches, they do make a lot of money, but, like, in comparison to the players, there's
00:31:26that, like, difference in power dynamic.
00:31:28I guess it's-
00:31:28Yeah.
00:31:29It might be more attractive as a coach to be like, hey, this is really easy.
00:31:32It's stupid.
00:31:33Yeah.
00:31:33It's very stupid.
00:31:34Very stupid.
00:31:34If he did, in fact, do this, that's the dumbest thing ever.
00:31:37If he did it.
00:31:38If he did it.
00:31:38I mean, I find it so hard to believe that he would be actively fixing his own games.
00:31:44It says he got arrested.
00:31:45He did get arrested.
00:31:46But I'm saying, like, he got proven.
00:31:48But, like, I'm thinking, like, maybe he was just, maybe he was gambling on other sports.
00:31:55Maybe it was, like, playing illegal card games or something.
00:31:58Like, surely Chauncey Billups isn't out here fixing his own game.
00:32:02Allegedly.
00:32:03What if they arrested, what if the evidence was just, like, you suck at coaching?
00:32:07Like, you have to be-
00:32:07Yeah, yeah.
00:32:08He's like, no, guys, I swear.
00:32:10We watched a lot of Blazers games last year.
00:32:12Yeah.
00:32:13You have to be.
00:32:14There has to be something.
00:32:15Yeah, ladies and gentlemen on the jury, I present to you the Portland Trail Blazers 2024-25 season.
00:32:22What if it's just not basketball, though?
00:32:25Yeah, it could be any type of gambling.
00:32:27What if it's just, like, Cash Patel is going to take down the entire NBA because he found out that there are card games on planes?
00:32:33Also, like, the FBI has done a little bit of this before only to end in nothing.
00:32:38I mean, you think about all the college scandal where they were really puffing a big chest down and they took down, like, one staffer.
00:32:44I did see the news that college athletes are going to be able to gamble on pro sports.
00:32:49Seen that.
00:32:49You seen that, too?
00:32:50Yeah.
00:32:50I've seen that.
00:32:50What?
00:32:51Yes.
00:32:52That's good.
00:32:53So that'll be it.
00:32:54So if you're a fan of news like this, there might be more coming.
00:32:58What if you're a G League athlete going back to college?
00:33:01That just got approved as well.
00:33:03Uh-huh.
00:33:03You kind of have a foot in both camps.
00:33:05You bet on everything.
00:33:06Yeah, okay.
00:33:06You bet on everything.
00:33:07You're good to do.
00:33:07Okay, cool, cool.
00:33:08This is wild.
00:33:09And we're to believe that there's more coming?
00:33:13Is that what the...
00:33:14PFT?
00:33:15That there's...
00:33:16What I've heard is that there are more arrests coming.
00:33:20More arrests coming.
00:33:2110 a.m.
00:33:21Your sources are saying.
00:33:22Giving a press conference.
00:33:24Yeah.
00:33:24They're going to announce some new developments in that.
00:33:26You think that's the biggest name we get?
00:33:28I mean...
00:33:29It's a big boy.
00:33:29An active head coach is pretty big.
00:33:31An active head coach.
00:33:32Yeah, finals MVP.
00:33:33Multi-time champion.
00:33:35Yeah, that's a massive one.
00:33:38I'm just now thinking, K-Bob, you brought it up.
00:33:40The last time the FBI got involved with basketball, the college basketball scandal,
00:33:44and there was a flow chart.
00:33:44I'll never forget.
00:33:45Like, I thought, as a college basketball guy,
00:33:47I thought, like, this was, like, going to be the biggest story in the history of the world.
00:33:50The FBI called a press conference.
00:33:52They had, like, a flow chart that was just arrows in a circle.
00:33:55And then there was, like, a basketball in the middle.
00:33:56Yeah.
00:33:56It was, like, the money goes here, and then it goes here, but then it goes back here.
00:34:02And for that reason, you're all going to prison.
00:34:03And then, like, nothing happened.
00:34:05Nothing happened.
00:34:05Like, Rick Pitino, like, Louisville got scared.
00:34:07They fired Rick Pitino because they were, like, this is bad.
00:34:10And everyone else was, like, we don't really think anything's going to happen,
00:34:12and nothing really happened.
00:34:13It ended up causing LSU to have to fire Will Wade, too, which they suck.
00:34:16I mean, that sucks, and they definitely didn't want to.
00:34:19Coming up next here on FN1, we'll continue to research this story as it breaks.
00:34:24But coming up next, let's talk to Hall of Famer Jared Allen, baby.
00:34:28That's right.
00:34:29The legend, Mr. 6ix9ine himself.
00:34:33Viking great.
00:34:36Jared Allen coming up next.
00:34:42What's happening, y'all?
00:34:43Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool on FS1.
00:34:45So, one of the coolest parts about this job is we get to interview and hang out
00:34:51and talk with guys that I grew up watching that are absolute legends.
00:34:56And right now, we have a true master of his craft, the ultimate sack artist,
00:35:02NFL Hall of Famer Jared Allen.
00:35:04Jared, what's up, man?
00:35:06Thank you so much for making some time for us on a busy morning, dude.
00:35:10Oh, my pleasure.
00:35:11You have to use the words growing up watching me.
00:35:14That makes me sound so old.
00:35:15But then again, I look at my face, and I am hella old, so I get it.
00:35:19Well, to be fair, we're not that far off.
00:35:21I guess I meant like high school.
00:35:23I'm 36.
00:35:24I'm 36, so we're not that far off here.
00:35:26Oh, okay.
00:35:26I'm only six years older than you.
00:35:27Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
00:35:28That's what I'm saying.
00:35:29But like, you know.
00:35:31You didn't frame it like.
00:35:33Okay, okay, okay.
00:35:34Like you played in the early 90s.
00:35:36My bad, my bad.
00:35:37Film review, film review.
00:35:38That's on me.
00:35:39That was, I misspoke.
00:35:40I misspoke.
00:35:41But I did love watching him.
00:35:43He got a lot of sex.
00:35:43He's a bad ass.
00:35:44I mean, you didn't love watching him.
00:35:46Hey, Derek, congrats, man, on all the fame and everything.
00:35:51We'll get to that.
00:35:52But Vikings playing tonight, heading out to L.A.
00:35:55How are we feeling about the game?
00:35:58Oh, man.
00:35:59I'll be honest.
00:36:00Last time there in L.A., it didn't shake out to you.
00:36:03Well, I guess it was Arizona, right?
00:36:04They were in Arizona playing the Rams.
00:36:07But, you know, I don't know.
00:36:10We've been a little hot and cold, I think.
00:36:12So, the Chargers, you know, we're both kind of sitting good.
00:36:15Chargers showed signs of being really good at certain times, and they struggle at others.
00:36:19So, you know, I'm obviously going to roll with the Vikings always.
00:36:22I think, you know, we've got to do a better job of not turning the ball over on offense.
00:36:26We're putting up a ton of yards and actually getting a decent amount of points.
00:36:29And then defensively, we've got to figure out a way to get to the quarterback better.
00:36:32I think we only have, like, 16 sacks on the season.
00:36:35And so, you know, I'd like to see them, you know, obviously I'd like to see quarterbacks get hit a lot harder more often.
00:36:41So, but, yeah, I think we're going to be okay.
00:36:44I think, you know, Coach will have them in a good, you know, good position to bounce back sometimes when you have a tough loss coming on in a short week is actually easier because you don't have to deal with all the nonsense throughout the week.
00:36:53You just focus on your task and get ready for the next one.
00:36:55I'm always curious, Jared.
00:36:57So, you're obviously a Hall of Famer, one of the best sackers of the quarterback ever this game.
00:37:02I'm always curious about Hall of Famers watching guys who aren't as good as them.
00:37:07How hard is it for you to, like, you're talking about the need to get to the quarterback.
00:37:13Like, is it easy for you to kind of understand that the guys you're watching aren't going to be as good as you, or do you just lose your mind?
00:37:19You're like, it's not that hard.
00:37:21How do you not just beat the guy in front of you and sack the quarterback?
00:37:25It's tough sometimes to watch if you see, like, continued errant technique from guys.
00:37:31But there's guys out there that are insanely good, right?
00:37:34There's guys that can operate at a high level.
00:37:36And we got guys like that on the Vikings.
00:37:38You got Gennard.
00:37:38You got Van Ginkle.
00:37:39They both can operate at a high level.
00:37:41The key with long-term success in this league is consistency, right?
00:37:45And you have to be your own biggest critic.
00:37:47You have to be so humble that you're willing to tear yourself apart.
00:37:50I always tell people all the time, I don't really remember the ones I got.
00:37:53I remember every single one I missed, though.
00:37:55And every year, I was just – I joke, but it's serious.
00:37:58Every year, I'm just trying to fool them for the next year, right?
00:38:00I'm just trying to constantly stack year after year.
00:38:05And usually, when you see guys have dips, it's nothing major.
00:38:07It's small, minute things.
00:38:09It might be all of a sudden, you're not rushing half a man.
00:38:11You're rushing down the middle, right?
00:38:13Your get-off might be late.
00:38:15You might just – you might be – your stance might be slightly elongated,
00:38:19which is creating a timing issue when you're normally creating contact.
00:38:22So, contact points or angles, all that stuff matters.
00:38:25Remember, we're talking about fractions of a second we've got to make up, right?
00:38:28When you only have 2.5 seconds to get to the quarterback or in some instances,
00:38:33we just say 2.25 seconds, all those little things add up.
00:38:37So, it can be tough to watch sometimes because that's kind of how my mind focuses
00:38:41and works is I'm very technical.
00:38:43And so, when you see guys just kind of running aimlessly, it can be frustrating.
00:38:48But, you know, I try not to – I try not to judge, put myself in those situations
00:38:52and stuff like that.
00:38:53I mean, otherwise, each generation is just kind of prejudging the other one.
00:38:57I just like to sit and watch and admire guys who master their craft.
00:39:01And then if I know a guy or have a relationship to the team
00:39:03and if I can help in any way, I'm always available.
00:39:06But there's some definitely good guys.
00:39:08Miles Garrett is one of those guys that is just still nasty and awesome to watch.
00:39:12Jared, we were watching a highlight reel as you were giving that thoughtful answer there.
00:39:17It showed a best-of clip of some of your greatest sacks
00:39:20against some of the best quarterbacks who've ever played.
00:39:23I think Aaron Rodgers was on there.
00:39:24Peyton Manning was on there.
00:39:25Drew Brees was on there.
00:39:26I'm curious to know who made the funniest sound when you hit them
00:39:29of all the quarterbacks that you tackled.
00:39:34Probably like Philip Rivers because he was talking trash the whole time
00:39:39he was going to the ground too.
00:39:40I think the ones I like the most are the ones that don't make sound
00:39:50because that means you hit them so hard they just disappear.
00:39:53They just, ah.
00:39:55You hear the breath go out.
00:39:56But they don't have a chance to make that sound.
00:39:58Like if you've ever been punched in the gut and you lose your breath
00:40:00and you're just like.
00:40:02Those are the ones I like.
00:40:03Yeah, I love the Philip Rivers stuff because I've heard that he never cusses,
00:40:07but he was maybe the biggest trash talker in the NFL without saying a cuss word ever.
00:40:12Oh, yeah.
00:40:13And a competitor, just an absolute dog, was so much fun to play against.
00:40:17And the best part with guys like that, then you get to talk trash back
00:40:21and then they're yelling at their offensive line like, uh-oh,
00:40:24someone's in trouble by daddy.
00:40:27It's just a whole family dynamic and drama.
00:40:29You got guys crying by the end of it.
00:40:31Nothing to do with football.
00:40:32So, Jared, obviously the Chargers, they're having some issues on their offensive line.
00:40:36They've got some injuries that are starting to pile up there.
00:40:38If you were going up against a guy with, like, no experience whatsoever,
00:40:42maybe a rookie or a guy that hasn't had much starting time in the NFL,
00:40:47are you thinking about how you're going to set him up in that game?
00:40:50Like, do you game plan differently given the fact that this guy might not have the experience
00:40:56as opposed to a guy that you know you're going to have to empty the bag on?
00:40:59Do you just say, I'm going to go into this game, we're going to go full speed
00:41:02and make him stop the first move before I have to hit him with the second move?
00:41:08Yeah, I think that's kind of a misclaimer with elite pass rushers.
00:41:13You typically don't have a bag of moves, right?
00:41:15So, I always tell them you have one move and a counter move.
00:41:17That's it, right?
00:41:18Now, how I inflict that move or how I put that technique on you might vary differently.
00:41:24But the toughest part when you're playing against the backup
00:41:27is there's not a lot of film on them, right?
00:41:30And so, you asked, would I approach the game differently?
00:41:33I would approach the game expecting to get chipped.
00:41:35I would expect him to get double team, expecting to get slide help, right?
00:41:38So, you're not going to get the one-on-one opportunities that you want.
00:41:42So, you really have to make sure that you're setting the guy up.
00:41:44When you do get a one-on-one opportunity, they would take full advantage.
00:41:47And then, yes, you absolutely, you go right at the dude.
00:41:52You hope your D coordinator is calling things to put the guy on an island to try to isolate
00:41:57him in protections, whether it's through blitzes or certain things like that.
00:42:00But it really comes down to film studies.
00:42:01So, you know, if you've got film on them, because you've got to approach the guy with
00:42:04the technique he's going to give you.
00:42:05But when a guy doesn't have experience, yeah, you're trying to set him up.
00:42:09You're talking to him.
00:42:10You're definitely, I mean, I'm going to be way more physical.
00:42:13My first few rushes are just going to be bull rushes down his throat and see if he can handle it, right?
00:42:19And then, you know, from there, then you're going to work off it.
00:42:21But it really comes down to an expectation of, you know, just trying to take advantage
00:42:28of your one-on-ones because the expectation is you're going to get a lot of help.
00:42:30So, we used to have a saying, it ain't a fish till you put him in the boat.
00:42:33So, you can go up against a backup all the time, but if you don't get sacks on him,
00:42:36you don't get stats on him, guess what?
00:42:38You're going to be on his highlight reel.
00:42:39So, it's a mentality game for sure that you don't want to lose and you have to just make
00:42:44sure you take advantage of those one-on-one opportunities.
00:42:46And then, hey, don't do anything special.
00:42:49You just, it's a confidence thing.
00:42:50It's just like, I know I'm better than you.
00:42:52You're not even supposed to be on the field right now.
00:42:54They barely sewed your name on your jersey last night.
00:42:58Let's just shuffle this guy out of here.
00:42:59Let's just get a couple of sacks and put him back on the bench.
00:43:03Hey, Jared, I've got a two-parter for you.
00:43:05First of all, the number.
00:43:07Was that intentional?
00:43:09Was that what they had when you got there?
00:43:12How did that come about?
00:43:13And then secondly, if you were to build a pass rusher, we're going to start with your
00:43:18number because it's iconic.
00:43:19But then if you had to build body, hands, skill set, what kind of guys are you taking
00:43:25for that?
00:43:26Wow.
00:43:26That's a loaded question.
00:43:28First of all, the number thing is easy.
00:43:29They gave it to me.
00:43:30And I was so mad.
00:43:31I was number 41 in college.
00:43:33But back then when I played, because I'm old, we had certain eight number gaps that we
00:43:38could only have, right, 69, just the lineman's number.
00:43:46This is stupid.
00:43:47And it was another 69 on the team with an undructured free agent.
00:43:51So I'm like, oh, now I'm just a guy with another guy's number on the team.
00:43:54This is stupid.
00:43:55And then make the team, right?
00:43:58And my D-line coach, Bob Carmelo, just said, hey, he said, hey, that's an old school number.
00:44:02You're an old school type player.
00:44:04Keep that number.
00:44:04Because they offered me a 90s or whatever when I made the team.
00:44:07But no, so the number was just by chance.
00:44:09And then my D-line coach encouraged me to keep it.
00:44:12And it worked out well.
00:44:13And then if I'm building a pass rusher, so first of all, I'm going with height, right?
00:44:17It's got to be 6'4 plus length.
00:44:20So I think, you know, my body type, you know, from a stature standpoint, is a very good body type.
00:44:27You have to be flexible.
00:44:28You have to be powerful.
00:44:28You have to be able to know how to move.
00:44:30And then I'm taking a guy like, you know, like Julius Peppers.
00:44:35You know, I'm taking the upper body of Julius Peppers, if you will.
00:44:39You know, I'll take the speed of a Derek Thomas.
00:44:42I mean, Lawrence Taylor, one of those guys coming off the ball.
00:44:46You know, I'll take the lower body of a Reggie White.
00:44:49You know what I mean?
00:44:50I'm really hoping you'd say that.
00:44:52Yeah.
00:44:53And, I mean, you could just take Reggie White.
00:44:55Take Reggie White.
00:44:58So there's your answer.
00:45:00It's prototypical professor Reggie White or, I mean, Deacon Jones.
00:45:05I mean, you look at Deacon Jones.
00:45:07And I know he was older.
00:45:08I got to meet Deacon one time and stand next to him.
00:45:09But I was in awe of how big he was, right?
00:45:13Actually, in stature.
00:45:14He was a big man, massive hands, long arms.
00:45:17And the reason the length in your arms matters is because we want to win first contact.
00:45:21So the ability for me to put my hands on offensive linemen before he can get to me allows me to set things up,
00:45:28allows me to stop his inner half or trap an arm or something like that.
00:45:32So, yeah, that would kind of be my deal.
00:45:36You know, I was never much into spinning.
00:45:39I was a leverage technique guy.
00:45:40So the ability to pull a Dwight Freeney never fell into my repertoire.
00:45:45I'll leave that for him.
00:45:47But, yeah, if I could, I mean, you give me Reggie White, Derek Thomas, Julius Peppers, all blended into one.
00:45:55Goodness.
00:45:56Yeah.
00:45:56That's the same.
00:45:57An interesting answer about the number thing.
00:45:59Big T, I'm glad that you asked that.
00:46:01That's good journalism.
00:46:02But did you ever run into a situation when you went to a new team and somebody else was wearing 6'9 and you had to, like, make a bet with them or pay them off?
00:46:12Like, because I feel like if you have 69, that's usually a guy that's pretty attached to that number.
00:46:16They might not always want to give it up for a new guy.
00:46:20Yeah, no.
00:46:20It was always available.
00:46:23That's the misnomer as well in the NFL.
00:46:26Yes, guys will pay people for their numbers.
00:46:28But that's only if the guy is worth anything, right?
00:46:32I mean, if the guy has a number that, you know, if you're just on the roster, if you're, like, in the lower 40s on the roster, that number's getting, your number's getting changed.
00:46:45Some guys would throw that number.
00:46:46Like, Justin Jefferson, right?
00:46:49If Justin Jefferson were to ever leave the Vikings, it doesn't matter who has number 18.
00:46:53He's getting that number.
00:46:54And he's not paying for it whatsoever.
00:46:56That's your number.
00:46:58You keep it.
00:46:58But the fact that, like, an Aaron Rodgers changed back to number eight, I think that's probably just because he wanted to.
00:47:03Like, Aaron Rodgers would have got whatever number he wanted to.
00:47:05But, no, I never had to pay for it.
00:47:07It was always available.
00:47:09And so, yeah, it worked out well for me.
00:47:11The Jared Allen 69 jersey was a great segue for those of us that would do the suck at crotch chop in school and we'd get in trouble for it.
00:47:18We had to figure out a way to evolve.
00:47:20And then Jared Allen comes along.
00:47:22We were like, we'll just buy his jersey.
00:47:24Yeah.
00:47:25Actually, I think the greatest 69 jersey was Jordan Gross on the Panthers.
00:47:30Because it just said Gross on the Panthers.
00:47:34So, funny to mention, that was my last team, right?
00:47:37And Jordan had just retired.
00:47:38So, 69 came available.
00:47:41And Jordan and I, you know, we still talk today.
00:47:44And we had some great battles against each other.
00:47:47But, yeah.
00:47:48You know, the Gross 69.
00:47:49Freaking fantastic.
00:47:50Jared, man, I still have like a million questions I want to ask you.
00:47:54But we got to go.
00:47:55Cannot thank you enough, man, for taking the time to join us this morning.
00:47:58Giving us that incredible insight.
00:48:00Have a great day, brother.
00:48:01Congratulations on the Hall of Fame.
00:48:02I appreciate you.
00:48:04Thank you, sir.
00:48:05Thanks, Jared.
00:48:05Thank you so much.
00:48:06Appreciate you.
00:48:07There he is.
00:48:072025 Hall of Fame inductee.
00:48:09Jared Allen.
00:48:09Man, I had like 18 more questions.
00:48:10It's not a chance.
00:48:11It's still in the boat.
00:48:12He's one of my favorite football players of all time.
00:48:14Yeah.
00:48:14All right.
00:48:15Hour two next.
00:48:16It is time for questions from a third grader.
00:48:19PFT has once again tapped into his barn of third graders.
00:48:24It's an insulated barn.
00:48:25They are well fed.
00:48:26They are taken care of.
00:48:27We got trough.
00:48:28And they love sports.
00:48:29They do love sports.
00:48:30I think only had two questions this week.
00:48:32So we'll make this one brief.
00:48:33Okay.
00:48:33What do we got?
00:48:34The first question.
00:48:35This is from Skip from Los Angeles, California.
00:48:38Skip, I believe he's a third grader.
00:48:40He wants to know, is Shohei Otani on steroids?
00:48:44I'm just glad that we're having the conversation.
00:48:46And Titus, we've talked about this a little bit.
00:48:48But it feels like we're doing a disservice to Shohei and how good he is to not even ask
00:48:53that question.
00:48:53You have to ask.
00:48:54This is out of respect to Shohei Otani.
00:48:55You have to ask if he's on steroids.
00:48:57You have to acknowledge how well.
00:48:58If you play well enough at baseball, you get asked if you're on steroids.
00:49:02And I feel like people are scared to ask this question.
00:49:04Shohei Otani has to be asked if he's on steroids.
00:49:07Maybe he's translating this.
00:49:07So I've never considered this.
00:49:08We're not casting dispersions.
00:49:10No.
00:49:11It's respect.
00:49:11It's a compliment.
00:49:12It's a respect thing.
00:49:13Like, T-Bob, did anyone ever in college be like, you've got to be on something?
00:49:18No.
00:49:18You would have liked that, though, right?
00:49:20That's a good point.
00:49:20Yeah, that's a good point.
00:49:22That's a good point.
00:49:23Because then I would have been cheapishly like, no, man.
00:49:25Like, no, man.
00:49:26That's all T-Bob.
00:49:28That's all me, man.
00:49:30Runs through my veins.
00:49:30Yeah, I think that with Shohei, it's like, no, he's not.
00:49:33But can you imagine if he was?
00:49:35Oh, my God.
00:49:35How cool that would be?
00:49:36Oh, my God.
00:49:36He should.
00:49:37Shohei Otani should take steroids.
00:49:39Because it would be awesome.
00:49:40Because he's already so big.
00:49:42Yeah.
00:49:43Think about how much bigger he could be, dude.
00:49:44He could ball 700 feet.
00:49:46Yeah.
00:49:46I want to see it.
00:49:47I want to see what happens.
00:49:48So, yeah, that's a good question from Skip.
00:49:50Always starting the conversation, Skip.
00:49:52Next question.
00:49:52PFT, will you give Jerry $1,000 if he can name any of the top 10 Heisman Trophy favorites?
00:49:58I will.
00:49:59I will give Jerry $1,000 if he can name any of the top 10 Heisman Trophy favorites.
00:50:03Well, listen.
00:50:04So, you set me up every week because you know I don't watch college football.
00:50:07I try to give you $1,000.
00:50:08You want me to do a big tier?
00:50:09These are the Heisman top guy.
00:50:11Okay.
00:50:12So, I just need to name one.
00:50:14Name one of the top 10.
00:50:14Big T, can you bring it up online just so we can...
00:50:16I've got it.
00:50:17What's our...
00:50:18How many times does he have here?
00:50:19I'm going to give him 30 seconds, seems like.
00:50:2130 seconds.
00:50:22Okay, look.
00:50:22Clock starts now.
00:50:24Okay.
00:50:25We've got a clock here.
00:50:26So, I got until 30 on that clock.
00:50:27Yeah, you got until 30 on there.
00:50:29Okay.
00:50:29Well, until zero, really.
00:50:30Oh, never mind.
00:50:31On the screen, no, you've got 20 seconds.
00:50:32We've got 20 seconds.
00:50:34Hurry up.
00:50:34All right.
00:50:34Terry, it's counting down, not up.
00:50:36So, you actually have until zero.
00:50:37Okay.
00:50:37So, if you're waiting for it to hit 30.
00:50:39It's not the Penn State guy because the Penn State guy got injured.
00:50:42He got hurt.
00:50:43I bet on Lenora Sellers.
00:50:45He's not doing good.
00:50:46No.
00:50:47Who's the Oklahoma guy who runs?
00:50:49The Oklahoma guy who runs?
00:50:50Four.
00:50:51Three.
00:50:52Five.
00:50:52Two.
00:50:52Mateer.
00:50:53Mateer.
00:50:53Mateer.
00:50:53Not anymore.
00:50:54He's not in it anymore.
00:50:55What?
00:50:55Why?
00:50:55He's not in the top 10 anymore.
00:50:56He's not top 10.
00:50:57Right, Big T?
00:50:57No longer in the top 10.
00:50:59He had the wrist.
00:51:00Wow.
00:51:01He had the wrist.
00:51:02Do you know Indiana's quarterback?
00:51:04I wouldn't have accepted any of these.
00:51:05Gunnar Stockton, he's got a little.
00:51:07I don't watch college football.
00:51:08I tried week one, and I just couldn't do it no more.
00:51:11Too great.
00:51:12What?
00:51:12There's too much going on for me.
00:51:14There's too much for my brain to take with all the different teams.
00:51:17It's a lot of game.
00:51:18Yeah.
00:51:18It's a lot of game.
00:51:19I did like week one, but I can't get into it.
00:51:22Covering the sport, you just got to have like one fact about each team.
00:51:25I know that guy.
00:51:26He's back right there.
00:51:27Wait, he's here.
00:51:29No, that's outside the top 10.
00:51:30Yeah, he lost last week, dropped out the top 10.
00:51:32He's number 15 right now.
00:51:34I'm going to see who I actually know from this.
00:51:35Oh, my gosh.
00:51:36That's my friend.
00:51:38Yeah.
00:51:38What?
00:51:38Pavia?
00:51:39That's my friend.
00:51:39Wait, how's Pavia your friend?
00:51:41We met each other a couple years ago in Scottsdale.
00:51:43We hung out.
00:51:44Pre-Vanderbilt?
00:51:46Like before?
00:51:47When did we go to the Chip Bowl for Arizona?
00:51:49No, he had to already be at the Vanderbilt.
00:51:50In Arizona, that would be the Chiefs-Eagles first matchup.
00:51:54Two years ago, right?
00:51:55No, that's like three or four years ago.
00:51:57Okay, yeah.
00:51:58So we hung out.
00:51:59We became friends.
00:51:59We talk on Instagram all the time.
00:52:01Oh, my God.
00:52:02He's kicking ass right now.
00:52:03I can't have that get out.
00:52:04I can't.
00:52:04Jerry, he's got a massive.
00:52:06Hey.
00:52:06I know, but I can't have that get out.
00:52:08Cut this.
00:52:08Do not put this out.
00:52:10Cut this part.
00:52:10Cut this part.
00:52:10Okay?
00:52:11He's got a massive game coming up this week in Jerry against Mizzou.
00:52:13He's like a legitimate Heisman favorite now.
00:52:15Yeah, I actually, I like that.
00:52:17Good value.
00:52:18Did you just beat a good team at LSU?
00:52:20They just beat LSU.
00:52:20They just beat the hell out of LSU.
00:52:21Because I messaged him.
00:52:22I asked him again.
00:52:23I said, you're different.
00:52:26Have you messaged Miles Garrett again yet?
00:52:28No.
00:52:28You should send him a Mike Tomlin speech.
00:52:32Get him pumped up for this.
00:52:32Pavia?
00:52:33Yeah.
00:52:35Are they underdogs?
00:52:37No.
00:52:38No, they're favorites.
00:52:39They're favorites this weekend.
00:52:40It's going to be a close one.
00:52:41I think Vanderbilt, I think they're better.
00:52:43Yeah, I don't know any of these other guys besides.
00:52:46I mean, to be fair, this is a way different Heisman top ten that we had coming into the season.
00:52:52Yeah.
00:52:53Arch Manning.
00:52:53Also, Big Cat messed me up because he put a Heisman future on this guy, right?
00:52:58Yeah.
00:52:58That's right.
00:52:59A couple weeks ago, he said he was done.
00:53:00He's kind of back.
00:53:01He's kind of back, yeah.
00:53:02He had a really good game last weekend against USC, but Notre Dame doesn't play anybody else.
00:53:08He's not going to win the Heisman.
00:53:09It's going to be tough for him to find the stage to be able to win.
00:53:12I put a future on this guy right here, like week one.
00:53:16And that was looking great for a long time.
00:53:17It looked great, but I want all the voters out there, all the members of the media to
00:53:21know that losing to Louisville on a Friday night should not be disqualifying for your
00:53:25hopes to make the college football playoff.
00:53:27Regardless, I don't care if you're at the University of Miami.
00:53:31I don't care if you're at James Madison.
00:53:32It doesn't matter who you are.
00:53:34That's a tough team to beat on a Friday.
00:53:36Friday night college football games are like the international NFL games.
00:53:39They shouldn't really count.
00:53:40No one's watching them.
00:53:41It's exactly like it didn't happen.
00:53:43It's exactly like it didn't happen.
00:53:44It's crazy, just unexpected results.
00:53:46Yep.
00:53:46Good point.
00:53:46All right, guys.
00:53:47Another excellent edition of questions from a third grader.
00:53:52Remember, guys, if you have any third graders at home, make sure they're fed, taken care of.
00:53:58Bring them to the doctor once every six months.
00:54:00Good PSA.
00:54:01Yeah, yeah, just in general.
00:54:04Keep them alive.
00:54:04Read to them.
00:54:05Keep the third graders alive, guys.
00:54:07More Wake Up Barstool coming up next on FS1.
00:54:09Read to them.
00:54:10Yeah.
00:54:11Once a week.
00:54:12Well said.
00:54:12And important.
00:54:13Need to be said.
00:54:16What's up, guys?
00:54:17Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool on FS1.
00:54:20Helped up.
00:54:21That was great.
00:54:22Mm-hmm.
00:54:22All right, now it is time to head back to the news cycle as Big T's been doing some reporting
00:54:29of his own.
00:54:31We have some.
00:54:31No, no, not Big T.
00:54:32ABC.
00:54:33Well, yes.
00:54:34ABC.
00:54:34You've been reporting.
00:54:35You're reporting the report, are you?
00:54:36I've seen the report in the group chat, but this is not a Big T.
00:54:39That's reporting.
00:54:40No, you're reporting the report.
00:54:41No, on TV right now, Big T.
00:54:43Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:54:44But this is ABC News.
00:54:45You're reading the news on television.
00:54:46ABC News.
00:54:47Big J, Big T reporting the reporting from ABC News that Portland Trailblazers head coach
00:54:52Chauncey Billups has been charged in an illegal poker operation tied to the mafia.
00:54:58Long enforcement sources have told ABC News Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was arrested
00:55:03in separate but related betting case.
00:55:05Separate but related?
00:55:07Hmm.
00:55:08Hmm.
00:55:09Allegedly.
00:55:10Now, if this is a poker game, guys can't have fun anymore?
00:55:14So, I was just about to say, I feel bad for Chauncey Billups now.
00:55:18Yeah.
00:55:18Like, because the headline makes it seem like he would have been doing, like, sports gambling.
00:55:23Yeah.
00:55:23Right.
00:55:23What makes poker illegal?
00:55:25I don't know.
00:55:26Because the casinos aren't getting, because, like, if it's, I guess, if it's not, like,
00:55:28a license or sanctioned game, I don't know.
00:55:31Yeah.
00:55:32But what about when your friends come over the house?
00:55:34Maybe it's not big money enough for the happy night to care?
00:55:35I ran a poker game a couple months ago.
00:55:37Jerry, let's, uh...
00:55:38I don't know.
00:55:38Allegedly.
00:55:40Allegedly.
00:55:40I allegedly.
00:55:41Jerry allegedly ran a poker game, guys.
00:55:43He's never...
00:55:44I ordered hibachi for the guys.
00:55:46Yeah.
00:55:46You allegedly.
00:55:47I allegedly ordered hibachi.
00:55:48Allegedly ordered hibachi.
00:55:50Allegedly, did you take a cut?
00:55:51No, we...
00:55:52No, the winner got everything.
00:55:54Allegedly.
00:55:54Allegedly.
00:55:55The winner got everything.
00:55:56Did the hibachi chef do the...
00:55:58Did he do the onion volcano?
00:56:00No, he didn't.
00:56:01It was cold, so it was inside the house.
00:56:04It was the last year.
00:56:05So, you got cold hibachi.
00:56:06No, no, no.
00:56:06It was cold outside, so we didn't do the hibachi outside.
00:56:09Did he...
00:56:09The hibachi inside.
00:56:09Did he do the steam train?
00:56:12He did no tricks.
00:56:13Did he throw a shrimp in your mouth?
00:56:14No.
00:56:15So, you just had a man come to your house and cook.
00:56:17Well, he was a professional hibachi guy, yeah, but we didn't ask for tricks.
00:56:19But, like, 90% of hibachi is, like, like, throwing it in your hat.
00:56:24Like, he didn't throw an egg in his hat?
00:56:26That's not...
00:56:26None of the guys were into that.
00:56:27That's not weather-related.
00:56:28Yum-yum sauce?
00:56:29Was there any of that?
00:56:30Yes, there was that.
00:56:30It was that.
00:56:31Yeah.
00:56:31Right, good, good.
00:56:31Now we're getting somewhere.
00:56:33Allegedly, there was yum-yum sauce.
00:56:34No volcano.
00:56:36No, no volcano.
00:56:37If you don't do the volcano, you didn't have hibachi.
00:56:39I mean, if you don't throw a single shrimp in my mouth, what are we doing?
00:56:42If you don't juggle an egg, if you don't make little fun beats, spin it around...
00:56:46You just had Japanese food.
00:56:48Yeah, you just had Japanese food.
00:56:48You didn't have hibachi.
00:56:49Speaking of hibachi...
00:56:50If you don't throw a shrimp in my mouth, what are you doing?
00:56:52Yeah, I agree.
00:56:54I mean, but J.R. Hay, that yum-yum sauce?
00:56:56Very good.
00:56:57Yeah, very good.
00:56:58But with hibachi, wasn't Gilbert Arenas involved in something like this a couple months ago?
00:57:04That's kind of weird.
00:57:05Wait, whatever.
00:57:05What's the relationship like with Gil and Chauncey?
00:57:09They have beef?
00:57:11I don't know.
00:57:11I don't know.
00:57:12Allegedly have beef?
00:57:13Allegedly.
00:57:14You had beef.
00:57:16With Perk?
00:57:16From the hibachi guy.
00:57:17The hibachi guy.
00:57:17Oh, oh.
00:57:18Yeah.
00:57:20It took me a second.
00:57:22This NBA thing does feel like the college basketball thing we were talking about earlier.
00:57:27So the way the FBI framed that was that, because all that was happening was college basketball
00:57:33programs were giving recruits money.
00:57:34Yeah.
00:57:35And when that story broke, people were like, how is that illegal?
00:57:37What's going on?
00:57:38And their whole argument was, you're defrauding the university by paying a player to make the
00:57:43player ineligible for a state school.
00:57:45I don't know.
00:57:45They found a way to make it feel like this is a crime.
00:57:49Allegedly, if this is what's going on, like it feels like that's, you know, they present
00:57:53the story and you're like, oh, whoa.
00:57:56Yeah.
00:57:56Oh, he's fixing games.
00:57:57And then the details come out and you're like, oh.
00:57:59I got to.
00:57:59I mean, playing poker is not.
00:58:01Yeah.
00:58:01That doesn't make me angry.
00:58:02If that is, in fact, what he did.
00:58:04Allegedly.
00:58:05If that is, in fact, what he did.
00:58:06Do we think that Ben Mintz might get caught up in this at some point?
00:58:12That'd be Mintz.
00:58:12Mintz a rat?
00:58:13Well, yeah.
00:58:14I was about to say, Mintz has maybe already gone state witness.
00:58:16We don't know.
00:58:17I'm actually.
00:58:19That's who they got to first.
00:58:20I've seen Ben struggle to put on a portable microphone before.
00:58:23I don't think that he's wearing a wire.
00:58:24That's funny you say that.
00:58:26Because we went to the Bears-Saints game Sunday with Eddie and the Chicago Boys.
00:58:31And I love Ben to death.
00:58:33But him putting on the Bluetooth clip-on mic, it was unbelievable.
00:58:37Or that could be an act.
00:58:38Maybe he's like, I don't even know.
00:58:39What's a microphone?
00:58:40I don't even know.
00:58:41It goes on my body?
00:58:42What's that?
00:58:42I don't know about that.
00:58:44It's like a Mincey Soze, a Kaiser Soze type deal.
00:58:47Yeah.
00:58:47He walks out and the eye goes straight and he's just locked in.
00:58:52Walking down the street.
00:58:53If I have my tinfoil hat on, though, with the NBA thing, I know Cash Patel, the director
00:58:57of the FBI, is a massive hockey fan.
00:58:59One of the biggest hockey fans that you'll ever meet.
00:59:02Is he trying to take down the NBA to build up the NHL?
00:59:07Yeah, the timing's interesting.
00:59:09It is interesting.
00:59:10Right after the NBA comes back, last night Victor Wimbanyama gets everybody talking.
00:59:15I mean, it could go even deeper than the NHL.
00:59:20You know, Ohio State's hot right now.
00:59:23In football, they've kind of reached a too-big-to-fail state.
00:59:27You know, it'd be really bad if people looked too much into Les Swexner and his best friend
00:59:32right now.
00:59:32So all of a sudden, here you have Cash.
00:59:34His best friend.
00:59:36The guy had an island, I don't know.
00:59:38Oh, island boys.
00:59:39Yeah, yeah, the island boys.
00:59:40Yeah, Les and his boy.
00:59:42They were the island boys.
00:59:43Yeah, yeah.
00:59:43So maybe Cash is trying to divert a little bit of attention from that as well.
00:59:47Ohio State football has to do with Chauncey Billups playing poker.
00:59:51Well, it may have to do with some stuff that's worse.
00:59:54Gotcha journalism.
00:59:55It's like, oh, maybe.
00:59:57I was, I'll be honest.
00:59:58I was prepared to come in and defend you, T-Bob, for your Ohio State take yesterday.
01:00:01But to hell with you.
01:00:02You're on your own.
01:00:03Wait, what?
01:00:03You're on your own.
01:00:04We were going to be island boys.
01:00:05I was going to get on an island with you.
01:00:07I was going to defend you.
01:00:09I need somebody.
01:00:10You're going to go to the island?
01:00:11I just found, I found a ship to take me away.
01:00:14I need somebody to defend my Ohio State take from yesterday.
01:00:17Nobody is.
01:00:17All right.
01:00:18You been to the island?
01:00:18Maybe Les Wexner just gave that free $35 million townhouse to Jeffrey Epstein because
01:00:24he won it in a poker tournament.
01:00:25Yeah.
01:00:27Maybe this all ties back to cards.
01:00:28Mark, you said you've been to the island?
01:00:30I've been to an island, yeah.
01:00:32Okay.
01:00:32I've been to an island.
01:00:33The same island as those guys?
01:00:36Be more specific.
01:00:37As Wexner and the island boys.
01:00:39Who's the other island boy?
01:00:41He's been to an island.
01:00:42Have you been on a plane?
01:00:42But you've been to...
01:00:43Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, hold on.
01:00:46The producers are panicking.
01:00:47The producers are panicking in my ear.
01:00:51That's funny with that.
01:00:52How do we transition?
01:00:54Lamar Jackson returned to practice, guys.
01:00:57Okay, all right.
01:00:58Let's go.
01:00:58How about that?
01:00:59Practicing ahead of the matchup with the Bears?
01:01:02First practice since September 29th?
01:01:04Yeah, all right.
01:01:05Let's go.
01:01:06He's from Miami.
01:01:07That's close to us.
01:01:07Weirds island.
01:01:09Ravens have lost four in a row.
01:01:11Palm Beach is down there, huh?
01:01:13Jaden Daniels?
01:01:15Ruled out.
01:01:16Ruled out for Sunday.
01:01:16Ruled out.
01:01:17Monday.
01:01:18Monday night.
01:01:18Monday, my bad.
01:01:19Against the Chiefs.
01:01:19That sucks.
01:01:20I'm going to be going to that game in Arrowhead.
01:01:22Oh, hell yeah.
01:01:23Bought tickets for that back in August and spent a lot of money to get good seats.
01:01:28Now I get to watch Marcus Mariota against Patrick Mahomes.
01:01:32The number's way too high, by the way.
01:01:33I think it's 12 and a half.
01:01:34We're covering that spread.
01:01:35It went up to 12 and a half.
01:01:36I think it's at 12 and a half now.
01:01:37But with Lamar coming back, I think he's going to play this weekend.
01:01:52There was a video that came out of Lamar last week.
01:01:55I think he was in Miami.
01:01:56Oh, God.
01:01:57The food.
01:01:57The food.
01:01:58Oh, it looks so good.
01:01:59Listen, Lamar Jackson has too many butt and stomach issues to be having all these videos
01:02:05out there of him ordering the greasiest.
01:02:07The food looks awesome.
01:02:09When he does this like four times a year, he'll be like, I just got this amazing meal from
01:02:13a locally owned restaurant here in Baltimore.
01:02:15Check it out.
01:02:15It's always in a styrofoam container.
01:02:17It always looks incredible.
01:02:18But I have diarrhea just looking at it.
01:02:20Yes.
01:02:21Yes.
01:02:21Like completely fair.
01:02:22It looks incredible, but it does look like something that would challenge your gastrointestinal
01:02:26system a little bit.
01:02:27Maybe he's been emasculated by his friends for his inability to consume certain foods.
01:02:31And he feels like he has to prove publicly that he's not a wimp.
01:02:35He takes like a picture of it and throws it away.
01:02:37Yeah.
01:02:37He's like, yeah, they totally leave it.
01:02:39Maybe it's guys like that he felt like he was very close with and they emasculate him on
01:02:43their very popular sports podcast.
01:02:45Yeah.
01:02:45Mark's not a wing guy.
01:02:45Who did this?
01:02:46Who did this?
01:02:46Mark's not a wing guy.
01:02:47Some guys are wing guys.
01:02:49I'm a wing guy.
01:02:49T-Bob, you strike me as a wing guy.
01:02:51Jerry, you're a wing guy.
01:02:52Love wings.
01:02:53Yeah.
01:02:53I live in a green chicken wings.
01:02:54Now he's doing it again on a different show.
01:02:56You don't like wings?
01:02:58He hates them.
01:02:59He hates them.
01:02:59I like wings.
01:03:01This came up on part of my take years ago.
01:03:03I said, I watched Stanford Steve and Big Cat at like 2 a.m. at the 2019 Final Four
01:03:10at a bar.
01:03:11They're just like over in the corner talking about getting wings in a couple days.
01:03:14Yeah.
01:03:14And I was like, that is, that was the, it was, it was the most masculine thing I'd ever seen.
01:03:18And I was like, I don't, I've never in my life like planned to get wings to that extent.
01:03:23I just go to a bar.
01:03:24I see wings on the menu.
01:03:25I'm like, yeah, let's get some wings.
01:03:27But you will eat wings.
01:03:28And then they blew it.
01:03:29So then the next final, the next time we all got together, we got wings.
01:03:32I tried to prove that I was a wing guy and I ate like 7,000 wings and I almost died.
01:03:36Yeah.
01:03:37I had a Lamar Jackson experience.
01:03:39Wings?
01:03:39And I literally, this was the, this was two years ago.
01:03:42So two years ago at the Final Four, I literally had to miss the Final Four.
01:03:45We went out on Friday night.
01:03:47We had wings.
01:03:48I woke up on Saturday and was like dead.
01:03:50And I can't even go to the Final Four.
01:03:51He's not a wing guy.
01:03:52It's okay.
01:03:52No, I mean, I, maybe that's what's going on.
01:03:55Maybe Lamar Jackson is, is trying to, trying to overcompensate for that.
01:03:58No, I'm, I'm, I'm with you though, Mark.
01:04:00I'll, I'll spend, wings are weird.
01:04:02I don't understand wing portions because I'll feel like, oh, I need like 40 of these.
01:04:06And then I eat 40 and I'm like, oh, it's all chicken.
01:04:09It's going to be, you know, high in protein, pretty healthy.
01:04:11And then I'm just wrecked for two days.
01:04:13Wrecked.
01:04:13Not a wing guy.
01:04:14I'm not a wing guy.
01:04:15You guys aren't wing guys.
01:04:15No, no, no.
01:04:16I'm actually the ultimate wing guy because I still eat the wings.
01:04:19Respect.
01:04:19It's like, it's like in South Park, Chipotle way.
01:04:21Yeah.
01:04:22They're like, everybody's bleeding out of their butt.
01:04:24They're like, why don't you stop eating it?
01:04:25No, I mean.
01:04:26I mean, have you ever had wings?
01:04:27They're amazing.
01:04:28Some guys, our bodies are just engineered to, to handle chicken wings.
01:04:31It's okay if yours isn't.
01:04:33That doesn't make you less of a man.
01:04:34I want you to know that.
01:04:35I've been, um, you don't think my body's engineered to handle chicken?
01:04:40It's no, if you, if you have to eat wings and then call in sick the next day.
01:04:43I didn't call in sick.
01:04:43My body thrives on chicken wings.
01:04:45If you ate 40 wings right now, it'd be fine?
01:04:48I don't think I could eat 40 at the moment.
01:04:50It's a little bit, a bit early in the day to have 40.
01:04:52I can, I can do 20.
01:04:53You know what?
01:04:54Next Thursday, we're getting wings.
01:04:55Let's do a wing off.
01:04:56Next Thursday, we're getting wings.
01:04:58We'll get Donnie.
01:04:59I'm going to clear my schedule on Friday.
01:05:02I'm going to be out.
01:05:03That's not true, guys.
01:05:05That's not true.
01:05:06Get that off the television court.
01:05:07Allegedly.
01:05:08Allegedly.
01:05:09Your body can't handle this.
01:05:11I'm going to sue you for defamation.
01:05:13My body, it, my, I just absorb chicken wings directly.
01:05:16It goes directly into my blood, into my muscles, into my fat.
01:05:20I don't even poop after it.
01:05:22Okay, yeah, so you don't even, yeah, you don't even process it or digest it like a traditional food.
01:05:27No, my body operates like it's, it's carbon neutral when it comes to wings.
01:05:30It absorbs.
01:05:31It just goes right into the mass, yeah.
01:05:33Oh, man.
01:05:33As a man's does.
01:05:34Is that good for your bones, though?
01:05:36It's really good.
01:05:36Because chickens have hollow bones, though.
01:05:38It's really good for my bones.
01:05:39Yeah, I mean, yeah.
01:05:40They have hollow bones.
01:05:40They have hollow bones.
01:05:40They have hollow bones.
01:05:40They have hollow bones.
01:05:41They have hollow bones.
01:05:42They have hollow bones.
01:05:42Maybe Eric's got hollow little bird bones, too.
01:05:44Nervous, nervous energy.
01:05:45It's a nervous little bird.
01:05:46Actually, Harbaugh, he changed his mind about chickens a couple years ago.
01:05:49He used to be anti-chicken, wouldn't let his team eat it because chickens are a nervous little bird.
01:05:53Oh, yeah, that was Harbaugh, right?
01:05:55Yeah, it was Harbaugh.
01:05:55And then two years ago, somebody told him, hey, man, chickens, get some chickens and just watch them go to work.
01:06:00And Harbaugh got some chickens.
01:06:02He's like, they are very industrious animals.
01:06:04Oh, there you go.
01:06:04They wake up, they're first in, last out type of bird.
01:06:07And now he's totally flipped the script on chicken.
01:06:09Also, they're kind of like dinosaurs.
01:06:11And dinosaurs seem pretty badass.
01:06:13Yeah.
01:06:14Are the Patriots badass?
01:06:16Here's the question.
01:06:17Here's the question.
01:06:18And it is quite simply, can the Patriots be the number one seed in the world?
01:06:23And as much as I hate it, bring up their schedule, guys.
01:06:29Their schedule is not.
01:06:30Because you have to look at the schedule when you answer this question.
01:06:34I think they can.
01:06:36Two games against the Jets.
01:06:38That is a light schedule.
01:06:39Giants still on there.
01:06:41Bengals.
01:06:41Sorry.
01:06:43Browns.
01:06:44Down Ravens team.
01:06:46We don't have it.
01:06:47Bless you.
01:06:48Don't put that out.
01:06:50We don't have a mute button.
01:06:52So how many games are they not favored in?
01:06:55They're going to be favored against the Browns.
01:06:57Falcons.
01:06:58At Bucs, they won't be.
01:06:59At Bucs, no.
01:07:02At Ravens, maybe no.
01:07:04Bills at home, probably not.
01:07:05Bills will be favored.
01:07:07Ravens might just be good by that point.
01:07:09We don't know.
01:07:10So maybe three games, they're not going to be favored?
01:07:12Yeah.
01:07:12From here on out, that's pretty good.
01:07:16If Patriot Dave wasn't already back enough, I fear that we're in for a bit of a reckoning.
01:07:25Here's the problem with the Patriots and their one-seed pursuit.
01:07:28They needed the Indianapolis Colts to lose.
01:07:30And I don't think the Indianapolis Colts are ever going to lose.
01:07:32That's right.
01:07:32Tell it, baby.
01:07:32I don't think the Colts are going to lose.
01:07:33The Colts can't lose.
01:07:34What they could do, though, the Patriots, they played the Titans already.
01:07:40I think the Colts have the Titans this weekend.
01:07:42Can we get the Colts schedule brought up?
01:07:45Colts have the Titans this weekend.
01:07:46One of the tiebreakers is point differential against common opponents.
01:07:49Yep.
01:07:49So I feel like the Colts are going to be circling.
01:07:52Yeah.
01:07:53And maybe 31-13, the Pages beat them last week, so they've got to do better than that.
01:07:57The Colts are going to take the over on the Colts' points this weekend.
01:08:00Dude, the Colts' highest scoring team in the NFL right now.
01:08:03Their schedule's a little harder, I'd say, but manageable.
01:08:07Yeah, Niners, a little sketchy Seahawks.
01:08:09I mean, getting the NFC West is not great.
01:08:11At Seas, not great.
01:08:12Jerry, you remember what I said before the season started?
01:08:15Before the season started about your Pittsburgh Steelers.
01:08:18You remember this?
01:08:19I need more.
01:08:20Think hard.
01:08:23I said this is the year that the Steelers do what?
01:08:26Win a playoff game.
01:08:27Win a playoff game.
01:08:29I think I found your target right there.
01:08:32You think so?
01:08:33No.
01:08:33The Patriots.
01:08:34Oh, the Patriots.
01:08:35We already beat them once.
01:08:36Yeah.
01:08:36I think that might be how this whole thing shakes out.
01:08:39I'm kind of seeing things right now.
01:08:41I'd love to.
01:08:41The universe is telling me stuff right now.
01:08:43I would love to.
01:08:43They're going to be high seed.
01:08:44The Steelers probably won't be.
01:08:46Yeah, probably right about that.
01:08:49Just play this back.
01:08:51Play this back in January.
01:08:52Jerry's talking like you guys are making a plan.
01:08:54He's like, I like that idea.
01:08:55We should do that.
01:08:56You are making a plan.
01:08:57We should do that.
01:08:57That'd be incredible.
01:08:58Yeah, yeah.
01:08:58You should go and beat the Patriots.
01:08:59I'm not scared of the Patriots at all.
01:09:01Zero.
01:09:02It's a weird thing where they could end up as the one seed, but they don't feel like
01:09:06a championship threat.
01:09:07They feel ahead of schedule.
01:09:08They're the ahead of schedule team.
01:09:10Ahead of schedule.
01:09:11Yeah.
01:09:11That's exactly what it is.
01:09:12Maybe we shouldn't be celebrating, but the Patriots fans are excited because they're like,
01:09:16wow, where did this come from?
01:09:17But also, they're not going to win the Super Bowl.
01:09:19This isn't their year.
01:09:19Maybe next year.
01:09:20Maybe the year after.
01:09:21Sometimes it doesn't always work out like that.
01:09:23It still is crazy to think about.
01:09:26I mean, and it was really stark last weekend, but the Titans firing Mike Vrabel just has to
01:09:32be one of the worst choices that's ever been made.
01:09:34I mean, he coached against the interim Titans coach because they've already fired the next
01:09:41guy last week.
01:09:43Yeah, I believe in Mike.
01:09:44I like Vrabel a lot.
01:09:46He's just a beast of a human being.
01:09:48Great coach.
01:09:49I don't know why the Titans...
01:09:51How long was he in Tennessee?
01:09:52It wasn't even the seven-year itch.
01:09:55It was just...
01:09:55Five, six, maybe?
01:09:56The Titans...
01:09:57Was it the seven-year itch?
01:09:57I don't know, because I think at some point, you just get sick of seeing the same guy.
01:10:01That's what it was.
01:10:02It was like, we don't think he's a bad coach.
01:10:04It's just, I don't know, man.
01:10:05I'm sick of looking at your face.
01:10:06It's the classic...
01:10:07I just want to look at a different face.
01:10:09Like, with sports, everything's a function of expectations.
01:10:12And he got them good enough where he raised the expectation.
01:10:15Yeah.
01:10:15Then any time you take a step back, they're tired of you.
01:10:18Right.
01:10:18And they want you out of there.
01:10:19And Vrabel, you remember when he was in his last season in Tennessee, he went to New England
01:10:24during the bye week, and they had like a big ceremony.
01:10:26It might have been a Ring of Honor induction, but he was up, like, sitting with the Kraft
01:10:30family in the booth.
01:10:32He was very much, like, showing his appreciation for the Patriots as a franchise.
01:10:36And I don't think that the Titans ever really forgave him for that.
01:10:39Yeah.
01:10:39They're like, you're stepping out on this right now.
01:10:41Yeah.
01:10:41Well, where are you?
01:10:42And he did.
01:10:43And he did.
01:10:44Well, no, they kicked him out.
01:10:46And he married his mistress.
01:10:46Yeah.
01:10:46Yeah, they kicked him out.
01:10:47He's like, I got options.
01:10:49Yeah.
01:10:50All right, coming up next, guys, we're going to go big T's, big T's, and big T's, big T's.
01:10:56Whoa.
01:10:57We also have Kate's Thursday Night Football roast coming up, so you don't want to go
01:11:00anywhere.
01:11:00You want to keep it locked right here on the BFS1.
01:11:05Come here.
01:11:06Come here, son.
01:11:07Keep your eyes out for...
01:11:08Better not change that channel.
01:11:10Why, I ought to bring you back from commercial.
01:11:16Wake up Barstool.
01:11:17All right.
01:11:17College football.
01:11:19Big T.
01:11:20College football expert.
01:11:22Big T's.
01:11:24Fun college football.
01:11:25Gambling T's.
01:11:26That's doing very well this year.
01:11:28We got completely screwed over by Texas last week.
01:11:31How ironic.
01:11:32Big T would screw it up.
01:11:34So what do you got for us?
01:11:36Okay, Big T, we got to get back on the horse.
01:11:38We're going to ride with you again.
01:11:39What's the big T's for week nine?
01:11:41Week nine.
01:11:41Now, I told producer Jeremy, I don't know if it's on there, I said, put on the graphic
01:11:45this week.
01:11:46Must win.
01:11:47This is a must win week.
01:11:49We're putting our foot down.
01:11:51We must win.
01:11:53Starting out, 11 a.m., Ole Miss, plus 14.5 at Oklahoma.
01:11:58I think Ole Miss is still probably one of the five or six best teams in the country.
01:12:01Really?
01:12:01They should have beat Georgia on the road.
01:12:03I like them to win that game, let alone cover two touchdowns.
01:12:07Over 43.5, UCLA going to Indiana.
01:12:09Somehow, UCLA is not the worst team we've ever seen now, and they score points, and they're
01:12:15almost good.
01:12:16I don't know.
01:12:16They're undefeated, dude.
01:12:17Newhouse is a great head coach.
01:12:18I think Indiana wins that game comfortably.
01:12:20Great skipper.
01:12:21But going to be points.
01:12:22Alabama, minus 2.5 going to South Carolina.
01:12:26South Carolina gave Oklahoma a little bit of a scare, but yeah, nothing major.
01:12:33Alabama playing really good right now.
01:12:35Over 40.5 in Nashville.
01:12:37Vandy hosting another big game against Missouri.
01:12:40Mississippi State, plus 17.5 at home against Texas, who screwed us last week.
01:12:44I think Mississippi State might win that game.
01:12:46Yep, they're very live to win that game.
01:12:48Tennessee Moneyline going to Kentucky.
01:12:50We don't lose football games to Kentucky.
01:12:52And Minnesota, plus 17.5 against Iowa.
01:12:56Minnesota, sneaky good ball club.
01:12:58Beat Nebraska last week.
01:12:59Getting a lot of points there.
01:13:01So, everybody kind of looked at each other when you dropped that Tennessee line.
01:13:05Mm-hmm.
01:13:08That's good.
01:13:09Do you think, is there a world out there where you're on the podium next week?
01:13:12I won't do a podium, but...
01:13:15Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
01:13:17If you, you just, you just said...
01:13:19Jerry wanted to do the podium.
01:13:20We're going to have to...
01:13:21What are you?
01:13:21Sure.
01:13:22Are we going to have to peer pressure Big T to do the podium?
01:13:25Yeah.
01:13:25I don't believe in peer pressure.
01:13:27You can't flippantly say things on television.
01:13:29That's not flippant.
01:13:30They've won, what, three times since the 80s?
01:13:33We don't lose football games to Kentucky.
01:13:35Okay.
01:13:35And if we do, if we do, you get fired.
01:13:37You get fired if you lose.
01:13:38You get fired?
01:13:39Coaches get fired.
01:13:40But you're the one saying...
01:13:41Why would you fire Josh Heupel?
01:13:43I'm not.
01:13:43I don't want to.
01:13:44I don't want to.
01:13:45I'm just saying, coaches that lose football games to Kentucky get canned.
01:13:48Look, that's a new segment here on Thursday.
01:13:50Podium predictions.
01:13:52You just made one.
01:13:53I will not be on...
01:13:54We're not going to have to worry about this.
01:13:56Tennessee doesn't lose football games to Kentucky.
01:13:58But in the crazy world where that does happen, no podium.
01:14:02Okay.
01:14:03Okay.
01:14:03So you agree.
01:14:04Podium if they lose.
01:14:06Speaking of Jerry Neuhaus, did you see the speech he gave to the locker room after the
01:14:10latest?
01:14:10I wanted your guys' thoughts on him saying...
01:14:13He dropped a line in there.
01:14:14I've been thinking about it since I saw it.
01:14:16I've been at UCLA a long time.
01:14:18He did it like a folksy like, no, I've been at UCLA a long time.
01:14:21It's true.
01:14:22He was born in the medical center.
01:14:23He's 33.
01:14:24Yeah, he's born.
01:14:25But he's been there basically his whole life.
01:14:26Yeah, he grew up, born and raised.
01:14:28Played there.
01:14:28See, no one has a problem with that.
01:14:29Wait, wait, wait, wait.
01:14:30Wait, he's 33?
01:14:31He's the most baby-faced football entity that maybe ever exists, and he hit him with a
01:14:36I've been here a long time.
01:14:37The fact that he was born in the medical center, grew up there on campus pretty much.
01:14:44His dad coached there.
01:14:45His dad coached there.
01:14:45He played there.
01:14:46He played there.
01:14:47He coached there.
01:14:47And now he coached...
01:14:48I think that's a long time.
01:14:49That's a long time.
01:14:50I think he's the oldest, 33.
01:14:51All right, well, I stand corrected.
01:14:53Wait, hold on, hold on.
01:14:53So he's 33?
01:14:55He's like, yeah, he's a very young man.
01:14:56So you're telling me he's in his Jesus year as he's resurrecting UCLA football?
01:15:01Mm-hmm.
01:15:02Wow.
01:15:03Unbelievable.
01:15:03Getting carried off.
01:15:04How many losses did they amass before?
01:15:06Was it three or four?
01:15:07They were 0-4, I think.
01:15:08Okay.
01:15:08Losses to New Mexico?
01:15:10Okay.
01:15:11I wasn't sure if it was like three losses and then he rolled away the stone.
01:15:14But still, credit to him.
01:15:16Jerry Neuheisel.
01:15:17He's doing great.
01:15:18In fact, me and Liam Bluntman have put together the Domino Dog Parlay this weekend.
01:15:24Boys, if anybody wants to hop on, it's UCLA Moneyline, LSU Moneyline, Mississippi State
01:15:30Moneyline, plus 1,000.
01:15:33What's Domino about that?
01:15:34Okay, so it all goes back.
01:15:37I connected it last night on Good Night Barstool.
01:15:39It all goes back to UCLA firing Deshaun Foster, getting good and going undefeated.
01:15:48That started to create an element of jealousy in Big Cat that Wisconsin still has Luke Fickle
01:15:53as their head coach.
01:15:54That jealousy led to a little kerfuffle where the college football show can now no longer
01:15:59go to Bloomington this weekend.
01:16:01Me and Casey were supposed to watch the game in the cave on Saturday for LSU A&M.
01:16:07Now that's not happening.
01:16:09She's not going to be in town.
01:16:09No Bloomington.
01:16:10There's a domino effect right there.
01:16:12If we look at Mississippi State, Brandon was also supposed to be in Bloomington.
01:16:17Now Brandon said, where is he going to be this weekend?
01:16:20Starkville.
01:16:20It's all connected.
01:16:22It all goes back to Deshaun Foster.
01:16:24Three big dogs this weekend.
01:16:26Triple parlay, plus 1,000.
01:16:27If you want to make money, guys, it's obvious.
01:16:30It's a butterfly effect.
01:16:31It's a butterfly effect, yeah.
01:16:32So we got uninvited from Bloomington?
01:16:34No, allegedly.
01:16:36Allegedly.
01:16:36Allegedly.
01:16:37Allegedly.
01:16:38That's my new favorite part.
01:16:39Getting banned from a city rocks.
01:16:41That's the coolest thing you could possibly have.
01:16:44Here's a college football playoff proposal that has been made that Big T was in support
01:16:50of.
01:16:50This is a 24-team playoff.
01:16:52What are we doing here, guys?
01:16:54I agree.
01:16:55It's not enough.
01:16:56We need more.
01:16:57I don't like this either.
01:16:5824 is not nearly enough.
01:16:59That's what I thought T-Bob would say.
01:17:00Yeah, we need 64.
01:17:0364 is perfect.
01:17:04I think the NCAA tournament basketball edition had it figured out.
01:17:07They're ruining it.
01:17:08They're expanding too much.
01:17:09I think we need 64 college football teams.
01:17:10Yeah, why don't we just play?
01:17:11And also, why don't we play two games in a weekend?
01:17:13Like the basketball tournament?
01:17:14Do it like basketball.
01:17:15Yeah.
01:17:15You play Thursday, Saturday.
01:17:16T-Bob, why is 24 not suiting your fancy?
01:17:19You've always said, more teams.
01:17:21It's better.
01:17:21We want as many teams as we can get in there.
01:17:24That is...
01:17:25That's all I've heard you say.
01:17:26That is patently false.
01:17:28What I have asked you to do is accept the current setting of college football and be willing
01:17:34to join me in advocacy of what's the best path forward.
01:17:38Instead of just stamping your feet and saying, I want to go back to two.
01:17:43Here's the difference between you and myself, T-Bob.
01:17:45You are willing to look at things which worsen society and say, you know what?
01:17:50I'm just going to accept my lot and I'm going to make peace with what may be.
01:17:55I look at things and I say, I want to fix this.
01:17:59I want to make this country a better place to live forever.
01:18:02I get that.
01:18:03And I want college football to go back to being...
01:18:08Great.
01:18:09Great.
01:18:09You want to make college football a better place again.
01:18:13Yes.
01:18:14Okay.
01:18:14Yeah.
01:18:14Yeah.
01:18:14Yeah.
01:18:15That's a great...
01:18:15That's a good slogan.
01:18:16I don't like that bracket.
01:18:17That's a bad bracket.
01:18:17Bad bracketology by whoever puts it.
01:18:19Yeah.
01:18:19I think the thing...
01:18:21It's a great point you're making here, PFT, because I think ultimately the number of teams
01:18:24I want is just...
01:18:25I need to see visually a bracket.
01:18:27Yeah.
01:18:27And don't tell me what the right number is.
01:18:29Listen, I'm...
01:18:29I don't...
01:18:30I'm anti-12 just because the bracket also looks gross.
01:18:32Yeah.
01:18:3212-2 bracket is crazy.
01:18:34I'm in favor of all the hypothetical brackets, though.
01:18:37Yeah.
01:18:37Show me what it would look like if there was a 64-team tournament.
01:18:40It's like when they put the maps out of this is what the United States would look like
01:18:43if we had high-speed rail everywhere.
01:18:45Yes.
01:18:45We're never going to have it, but I like looking at that and being like, oh, that's great.
01:18:49I can get from Chicago to Austin in two hours.
01:18:52Yeah.
01:18:52Incredible.
01:18:53The dream.
01:18:53All right, guys.
01:18:54Coming up next, we got Kate's Thursday Night Football Roast favorite segment of every single
01:18:58week.
01:18:59So stick around.
01:18:59You're not going to want to miss it.
01:19:00Kate going to make us laugh, tell you who's going to win the game on FS1.
01:19:05Hey, guys.
01:19:10Welcome back.
01:19:11Wake Up Barstool is my favorite part of every single week.
01:19:15We have one of, if not the funniest person at the company, our girl Kate with her Thursday
01:19:21Night Football Roast.
01:19:22Kate, take it away.
01:19:23Look at that.
01:19:24Well, guys, I wasn't feeling that funny today.
01:19:27I'm on a huge, huge losing streak on my Thursday Night Predictions right now.
01:19:31We all are.
01:19:32Dealers last week.
01:19:33What the heck happened?
01:19:34But you know what?
01:19:35I'm feeling fully charged up.
01:19:37Yeah.
01:19:38I'm getting recharged tonight.
01:19:39What is that shirt?
01:19:40That's a great shirt.
01:19:41Chargers 23.
01:19:42It's a hard track.
01:19:42She likes the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
01:19:45I found it in our costume closet, and I was like, I don't think this is actually a Chargers
01:19:50shirt at all.
01:19:51That's okay.
01:19:52Here for the Chargers.
01:19:5423, Vikings 15.
01:19:57Okay.
01:19:57That's how it's going down tonight, and that's bad news for the Vikings, because they're about
01:20:02to get roasted.
01:20:03Oh, yeah.
01:20:04Uh-huh.
01:20:05The Minnesota Vikings, oh, brother.
01:20:08This team blows.
01:20:09It's a bit much, isn't it?
01:20:21All the Viking stuff those fans do, like the skull chant with the huge drum and the fans
01:20:26replying to the drum with their hands.
01:20:29Then again, Vikings were sailors, so I guess it's not that crazy to see banging followed
01:20:33by the clap.
01:20:36But, yeah.
01:20:37Oh, I got it now.
01:20:40That fan base derives much of its lore from Scandinavian culture, and even the players
01:20:45get sucked in.
01:20:47Look at Brian O'Neill, for example.
01:20:49He's from Delaware, but clearly can't get enough Danish.
01:20:54Look at that belly hanging over his pants.
01:20:57Danish.
01:20:58Norway, more like, no way you guys are going to win.
01:21:01Looks like you guys can't a fjord.
01:21:03To lose another quarterback.
01:21:06Scandinavia.
01:21:08Have you ever wondered why Minneapolis legend Prince wrote the song, When Doves Cry?
01:21:15Yeah, I'm wondering.
01:21:15Yeah, yeah.
01:21:16Yes.
01:21:17Often.
01:21:18It's because the smooth pond-like glass on U.S. Bank Stadium kills over 500 birds a year.
01:21:23Good God.
01:21:25The doves miss their friends.
01:21:26Don't worry.
01:21:27Eagles and Falcons are always safe there, though.
01:21:29Don't have to worry about that.
01:21:31Bob Dylan's also from Minnesota.
01:21:32But I couldn't think of any jokes about that.
01:21:35Anyways, I love that the Chargers are wearing their all-Navy supercharger uniforms tonight.
01:21:41The Viking offense is going to be tangled up in blue.
01:21:44And a rookie punter for the Vikings?
01:21:46Huh.
01:21:47That ball's going to be like a rolling stone blown in the wind.
01:21:50Dang, it's a real shame that Carson Wentz plays just like a woman, am I right?
01:21:59Thankfully for all of us, J.J.'s out.
01:22:01So nobody in L.A. or Hollywood has to worry about McCarthyism tonight.
01:22:06The only red scare will be if Carson Wentz takes off his helmet.
01:22:09Ginger has got the red.
01:22:13Wide receiver, this is a long one.
01:22:16Everybody settle in.
01:22:17Wide receiver Justin Jefferson is known for wearing millions worth of diamonds on the field
01:22:22and even shoved a bunch into his uniform pocket and kept playing when a clasp broke on his necklace mid-game last season.
01:22:30He wears those out in the field.
01:22:31That's crazy.
01:22:32How does a guy in the middle of Minnesota acquire so many jewels that they hardly even matter to him?
01:22:38I gotta Google this.
01:22:39That's crazy.
01:22:40Let me see here.
01:22:42Oh, wow.
01:22:43The Minnesota Jewelers Union has the largest gemstone surplus in the country
01:22:47due to never, ever, never, never, ever, never, ever, never, ever, never having to make a Super Bowl ring.
01:22:55Never, never.
01:22:57Who knew?
01:22:58That's a good one.
01:22:59Gotta admit, Jefferson kind of rules for that because diamonds are pretty sweet.
01:23:05Did you know that the only thing harder than a diamond in the whole entire world
01:23:09is 17 Vikings players on a party boat in 2005?
01:23:15In defense of the ladies on that love boat, that was 20 years ago.
01:23:19Back before we knew doing that many Vikes was bad for you.
01:23:26International water.
01:23:27International waters.
01:23:28It didn't matter.
01:23:29But, hey, the past is the past, and Minnesota is a wholesome place rich in unique American winter traditions.
01:23:36Backyard hockey.
01:23:37Ice fishing.
01:23:38Snowmobiling.
01:23:39Sledding.
01:23:40Watching dad shove Aunt Lori's tater tot hot dish aside in disgust as the Vikings collapse late in the game.
01:23:46Winter tradition.
01:23:48I bet Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones are absolutely sick that they abandon ship.
01:23:52Again, not a football girly, but maybe they could trade for Herschel Walker again.
01:23:56That being said, us Chargers have got extra energy tonight with the return of the Mac, Khalil.
01:24:02Khalid?
01:24:04Football.
01:24:04Who cares?
01:24:05And Joe Alt might be ready to control and delete you guys after recovering from his ankle injury.
01:24:10And, yeah, we're coming off a string of losses, but Bolts love a storm.
01:24:15And you know what delicious little treat follows the rain?
01:24:18Rainbow Herbert.
01:24:19Okay, that's enough for me.
01:24:23Let's go.
01:24:24All right.
01:24:24Let's go.
01:24:25The Vikings are going down.
01:24:26Let's go, Kate.
01:24:27Get out of here.
01:24:27I love you, Kate.
01:24:29Thank you, Kate.
01:24:30Oh, my God.
01:24:31Okay, quick go to break, guys.
01:24:33Thank you to Kate.
01:24:34She's the best.
01:24:34More Wake Up Arsenal.
01:24:35Close out of the show.
01:24:37Did y'all see somebody?
01:24:43Spiritual successor.
01:24:46They're making umpire simulator, too.
01:24:47It's pretty cool.
01:24:49They're making umpire simulators?
01:24:50They have them.
01:24:51You can find them out there, yeah.
01:24:51Oh, I didn't know that.
01:24:52Just talking sims.
01:24:53It's a big day for Big T.
01:24:55Power washing simulators out.
01:24:57Two.
01:24:57Power simulator, too.
01:24:58Excuse me.
01:24:59Of course, we have flight simulator here.
01:25:01I've always wanted to mess around with truck simulators.
01:25:02Still haven't.
01:25:04Maybe one day.
01:25:05Anyway, you know what simulates me?
01:25:11Nope.
01:25:12Huh?
01:25:13No, no, no, no.
01:25:14What stimulates you?
01:25:15Huh?
01:25:15It sounds like you want to tell us what stimulates you.
01:25:18Creases.
01:25:19Yeah, yeah.
01:25:19Huh?
01:25:20You're a whole man.
01:25:20And yum yum sauce.
01:25:22Mm-hmm.
01:25:22Yeah.
01:25:25Some nice nails, Jer.
01:25:26Am I right?
01:25:27Yeah.
01:25:28Anyway, Joe Flacco.
01:25:30I was trying to say that I can, like, I feel what Joe Flacco was saying here.
01:25:33Here is Joe Flacco talking about being in a new city, all alone, leaving the family behind and whatnot.
01:25:39I tell people all the time.
01:25:40I mean, I used to see guys sitting at a bar by themselves or, you know, just sitting by themselves eating and grabbing a little meal.
01:25:46And I'm like, man, I feel so bad for that guy.
01:25:48You almost want to go join him.
01:25:49And now I realize, like, that dude was in heaven.
01:25:52Great delivery.
01:25:56Can I first point out what the real story here is?
01:25:59Did Joe Flacco sneak up on us as being, like, the hottest guy in the world?
01:26:02How did he get so good looking?
01:26:03I don't remember Joe Flacco being this attractive.
01:26:06You think he's always been hot?
01:26:07Yeah, he's always been hot.
01:26:08He's been a good look.
01:26:08Not like this, bro.
01:26:10The salt and pepper helps.
01:26:10The salt and pepper makes him just look sexy.
01:26:14Yeah, he's sexy as hell.
01:26:15Zaddy.
01:26:16Are we still doing that?
01:26:17Zaddy?
01:26:18Yeah.
01:26:18Yeah, you can do it.
01:26:19Okay, he's a zaddy.
01:26:20What's a zaddy?
01:26:22I think it's like a sexy daddy.
01:26:24A zaddy?
01:26:25Yeah, I think so.
01:26:27Yeah.
01:26:27I've heard it.
01:26:28He's no longer chopped.
01:26:30He's screwed.
01:26:32He's absolutely right, by the way.
01:26:34Eating alone is heaven.
01:26:35It is, in fact, heaven.
01:26:37And he's also right that as a younger man, you don't always appreciate it.
01:26:40You don't appreciate it, no.
01:26:41He's got five kids.
01:26:43Good God.
01:26:43That's why he keeps taking these jobs.
01:26:44He's like, yeah, got to go to work.
01:26:47Sorry, babe.
01:26:48Where's home for the kids?
01:26:50Delaware?
01:26:50No, Jersey.
01:26:51Jersey, yeah.
01:26:52I mean, I think he would leave his kids behind if he played for, like, a New York team or
01:26:56a Philly team.
01:26:57I actually can't.
01:26:58He'd just be like, kids, you stay.
01:26:59Yeah.
01:26:59I cannot wait to see the Bengals play this weekend because, like, Joe Flacco might be
01:27:06good again.
01:27:06Yeah, he is.
01:27:07Well, see, he might actually be good again.
01:27:09All right, guys, we got to go.
01:27:10Massive thank you to all the boys here on the show today.
01:27:12We, as always, a huge thank you to everybody in production behind the scenes that makes
01:27:16this show actually happen.
01:27:17No thank you to Carson.
01:27:18Shut up, Carson.
01:27:19Y'all have a great day.
01:27:20We love you.
01:27:21We'll see you tomorrow.
01:27:21Shout out, Victor Wimby.
01:27:22Tenyama, great game last night.
01:27:23Yeah, we didn't even mention Wimby.
01:27:24He was great.
01:27:25Yeah, we've got to do that next week.
01:27:26He didn't have time.
01:27:26So tall.
01:27:27He didn't have time.
01:27:28I'm open.
01:27:28No time.
01:27:29No time.
01:27:29No time.
01:27:30You
