Former Prime Minister & Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin voices deep concern over the people’s burden - from families in PPR flats struggling to put food on the table, to young Malaysians stuck in unstable gig jobs that can’t even cover education, healthcare or loans.

He stresses that inflation is not just a number on paper - it hits hardest in essential sectors like food, especially in urban areas.

Bersatu, he says, will continue to speak up as the voice of the rakyat.

00:00The government will now say we have 2% or 3% inflation, it's so small.
00:05No, we have done a study to say in certain sectors of this so-called figure,
00:12for example in the food sector, for example in Kuala Lumpur again, in the locality for example,
00:19the burden is more serious to the people, especially people living in PPR, Perumahan Rakyat.
00:25On a personal scale, what's your top two most concerning matters when it comes to the cost of living
00:32and for the Rakyat punya economic situation? What do you think must and wajib diaddressed?
00:38Yeah, as I said just now, we have our institute that did proper survey and study.
00:44We have done five times. This is not to add to other research bodies like medical center and main research.
00:52We compare all these factors, but it's at the top of the list that is of concern to the people,
00:58which basically if we have about 1,200 respondents, you could be one of them, to say,
01:03what's your concern now? It's the rising cost of living.
01:07And at the same time, our salary is not as high as the rate of inflation.
01:14The government will now say we have 2% or 3% inflation, it's so small.
01:19No, we have done a study to say in certain sectors of this so-called figure, for example in the food sector,
01:29for example in Kuala Lumpur again, in the locality for example, the burden is more serious to the people,
01:35especially people living in PPR, you know, perumahan rakyat, because of their poor condition,
01:41because their income is so low, not enough to actually pay for the cost of living, so it becomes worse.
01:48So as you said, what will be, that is the key.
01:52If I do not mention that at all, they say, hey Mohideen, you have lost track.
01:57The people are suffering, everybody is complaining.
02:00Some don't have jobs, especially young people don't have jobs.
02:04Even those who have jobs, the gig sectors for example, that is not enough to even service the loan,
02:12pay for the food, for education, for health. So these are serious matters.
02:17So Bersatu being a party that represents the voice of the people, we speak up on that matter.
