Former Prime Minister and Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the current administration has failed to deliver on promises of institutional and political reforms, from governance to PTPTN.

He stresses that low public trust and declining approval ratings of the Prime Minister reflect a deeper governance crisis.

As the Opposition, Muhyiddin insists Bersatu has a duty to provide checks and balances, raise concerns inside and outside Parliament and use the party AGM as a platform to push for transparency and accountability.

00:00So the question is, what will Bersatu do to Dasy-Mesha?
00:04I said, we can allow this to continue.
00:08This present administration, if you just say go and don't do anything about it,
00:13then I think we are not performing our duty.
00:15Institutional trust and judicial independence have come under scrutiny recently.
00:22Does this AGM delineate any stance or policy fixes from Bersatu on governance and transparency?
00:30This issue has been raised many times.
00:35Basically, what government, this present government has done,
00:40has not created the trust that they thought they would get from the people.
00:44What they promised to deliver, institutional reforms, political reforms,
00:51even to detailed matters like PT, PTN or toll matters, they did not deliver at all.
00:58So the trust on the government is low.
01:02In fact, the popularity of the Prime Minister, as I observed from some of the reports coming in,
01:07has dipped to below 35%, for example.
01:11So this is a major subject.
01:13Because importantly, in any government, the issue of governance,
01:16governance is key, which basically means when you run countries,
01:22you administer a country legislation, which is, of course, very important,
01:27you must follow not just the rules, the laws,
01:30you implement the executive to the best that you can,
01:33based on rules and laws and whatever you have to promise us.
01:36If you fail to do that, which they have not performed, as I said just now,
01:42then people have lost trust.
01:44So the question is, what will Bersad to do to Dersi Mesha?
01:48I said, we can allow this to continue.
01:52This present administration, if you just say go and don't do anything about it,
01:57then I think we are not performing our duty.
01:58So as much as we are opposition, we are not yet the government, I think.
02:04It's government waiting, as some people say.
02:06We still have our responsibility.
02:09We have to perform our duty to check and balance,
02:12to voice a concern in parliament and outside parliament,
02:16which we are doing at the same time.
02:17Of course, the AGM is another platform,
02:21which is the highest in any political body to be used
02:25to provide the avenue for people to air their concern again at the same time.
02:30So it is compounding matter that we will not just live like that.
02:35We have to address this matter because it is very important
02:38for the livelihood of all Malaysians.
