Eddie Howe has a major decision to make when Newcastle United return to Premier League action after the international break - Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa?
Joe Buck reveals who he believes Howe will start for Newcastle United's clash with Wolves next weekend.
00:00So, Nick Voltemada or Johan Wiesel, that seems to be the question for many Newcastle United fans
00:06heading into next weekend's game against Wolves.
00:08Now, we all know the international break has taken centre stage or will take centre stage over the coming days.
00:14Transfer window's closed, the Premier League is back for Newcastle anyways on the 13th of September.
00:19And for Newcastle fans, obviously we all want club football back.
00:22You know, international football just doesn't have that same, you know, passion as club football.
00:28But there is interest for Newcastle fans during this break.
00:31You know, Nick Voltemada plays tonight, which is on Thursday night, hopefully for Germany.
00:36Hopefully he gets a start there.
00:38So, it'll be interesting for Newcastle fans to see him in action for the first time.
00:41Of course, we've all seen YouTube clips and montages and all that.
00:45But it'll be nice to actually see their main player in action.
00:48Of course, he watched on from the Ellen Road stands last weekend.
00:51So, Germany's want to watch this month.
00:53And Newcastle also have three representatives in the England squad.
00:57Dan Byrne, Tino Livremendo, Anthony Gordon and Elliot Anderson as well in that squad.
01:01But, you know, so there is plenty to keep your attention over the next few days.
01:05But obviously, by the time, probably speaking to this time next week, all eyes will be on that Wolves game.
01:10And what Eddie Howe will do, you know, they really need a win.
01:13Wolves currently haven't got a single point in the Premier League.
01:16Newcastle obviously have two, but then two have come from goal as draws.
01:19So, it's really what he does up front is going to be interesting now.
01:22And we all know Johan Wisser is there and ready.
01:26He will be on international duty as well with Congo.
01:28But who does Eddie Howe pick?
01:30Is it Johan Wisser?
01:31Is it Nick Valtomar?
01:32Now, I think a lot of fans want to see Valtomar play.
01:35Of course, he's, you know, he's their club record signing.
01:38A bit of an unknown quantity from Germany.
01:40You know, no one really knows how he's going to get on.
01:42But I think the smart money and the smart move from Howe would be to pick Johan Wisser.
01:47Now, Wisser hasn't played for Brentford this year or didn't play for Brentford before his move to Newcastle.
01:51But he did, was reintegrated back into training towards the end of the summer.
01:57So, he might not be match fit, but he certainly had training behind him.
02:00And of course, now, as I said, he's got two games for Congo to build that match fitness.
02:04And as much as Valtomar, that might be the maverick, you know, the one we don't really know about.
02:08Wisser almost guarantees goals in the Premier League.
02:10He has certainly at Brentford over the last few years.
02:13And I think that's the reason Eddie Howe will pick him next weekend.
02:16I think that Wisser will slot more seamlessly into the team, potentially.
02:22He'll be someone who hopefully can get on the end of the chances they're creating.
02:26Now, there is a worry about the chances they're creating.
02:28That's a new, different video for another time.
02:30But I think if you have Wisser in there, you're almost guaranteeing goals, as I said before.
02:35You're at least, like, putting the chances of scoring more likely than if Valtomar had.
02:40Now, Valtomar, you know, there's no doubt in my mind he has a much higher ceiling than Visser.
02:44Of course, you know, potential hopefully will skyrocket.
02:47And all memories of the Swedish striker who's gone will be banished completely.
02:52But right now, I think it's Visser's time to shine.
02:56And I think he will be the one that Eddie Howe picks.
02:58I don't doubt that Valtomar will get time on the pitch.
03:01And maybe if Newcastle, you know, fingers crossed, can get a lead in that game, maybe if they're comfortable, maybe two or three ahead, then they can introduce Valtomar from the bench.
03:09But I think Visser is the sensible call for Eddie Howe.
03:11Is it the boring one?
03:12Maybe.
03:12But you've got to remember, Visser is a £55 million striker.
03:15You know, there's not been too many then.
03:16It's seeing James' park.
03:17So it'll still be exciting to see him in action.
03:20And yeah, I think after draining some of the window, which for me is draining everyone, his fans, the club, I think it'll be nice to get back football and just purely concentrating on football.
03:27And of course, after that Wolves game, they've got Barcelona in five days.
03:30After that, then they've got a match against Bournemouth, then Bradford, then Arsenal.
03:33So it's all go after the international break.
03:35So yeah, I think the smart money for me, I know who Eddie Howe will pick next Saturday will be on Yuan Visser over Nick Valtomar.
03:42But of course, the best way you can stay up to date with whatever Eddie Howe picks on that day and all the news and everything between now and then is, of course, with the Shields Gazette.
