Joe Buck reacts to Newcastle United's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at St James' Park. Goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade sealed all three points for Eddie Howe's side as they moved up to 11th in the Premier League table and increased the pressure on Forest boss Ange Postecoglou.
00:00So, Newcastle United record their second Premier League win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
00:08That followed on from their 4-0 win over Union Saint-Groës in the week to wrap off what has been a pretty good few days for Newcastle United.
00:16I think the only blemish, the only negative coming out of today would be the fact that Lewis Hall missed out on the squad entirely with Howard being afterwards.
00:25That he just got a little bit of an injury in his hamstring, he's got to go for a further scan on that, so he's likely to miss a couple of games after the international break.
00:33But other than that, Newcastle United did what they needed to do, they came for three points, obviously Nottingham Forest and Antipas Tocoglu under a lot of pressure there.
00:41He hasn't won now in seven games, came into the game winless in six and he thought would they get a reaction, some sort of reaction for the international break.
00:48And to be fair, I think Forest were very un-Antipas Tocoglu, I think they were very good defensively, they were resolute.
00:53You know, Newcastle United were restricted to a couple of shots, I think Joe Linton had a header in the first half, Matsell saved and a couple of shots blocked.
01:00But other than that, there wasn't really much to talk about in the first half and you thought at that point, oh, have, you know, Nottingham Forest been able to really nullify Newcastle United?
01:09And will they, you know, be able to capitalise that in the second half?
01:11But Newcastle, you know, stuck to their guns, Nick Valdemarado was in and out of the game a little bit, but they finally got the breakthrough just before the hour.
01:18And it was Bruno Guimaraes with the goal, a captain's goal, you know, whenever he's needed, you know, he tends to step up and he was needed today and he did that brilliantly.
01:26He wins a ball back from Morgan Gibbs-White, feeds Dan Byrne, Dan Byrne gives him a ball back and he just kills a beautiful shot into the top corner.
01:34It's a fantastic effort from the Brazilian and despite shouts of a foul from Nottingham Forest, I don't think there was any sort of foul by anyone, particularly Bruno and Gibbs-White.
01:43And it was the lift you got so needed, you know, it was, it was relief, it was ecstasy in St James' Park and that was a bit, that goal, they needed that goal really, just to settle nerves, but also, you know, to get them that goal because, as I said, you know, Forest had been resilient to that point.
01:59They managed to get a second, just a few minutes from time, and Bruno again, he's always involved in the action.
02:04He nipped in front of Elliot Anderson, Elliot Anderson takes him out, it was a definite penalty and who, you know, you think at that point, Anthony Gordon had left the field.
02:12He obviously took two in midweek, he was going to take it, up steps, Nick Valdemar, and that's what you love to see as you strike out, to have the confidence to say, right, I'm going to take this penalty, I'm going to grab the ball.
02:22He did that, a little bit of a stuttering run up and hit a beautiful penalty in the top corner, hit the roof of the night, it was a fantastic penalty, no keeper was saving that.
02:30And that was all she wrote, you know, it was a solid 2-0 win, another clean sheet, was it the, you know, Eddie Howe's, was it the most fluid display under Eddie Howe?
02:38Now, of course not, but, as I said, three points is not needed, going in national break now with another three points in that back pocket, it's just, racking up these wins, it just gives a different flavour, a different sort of outlook on these, on this next international break.
02:52So, yeah, another three points, I guess, and I did finish the game in 11th place, but, yeah, it was a good win, I guess, and I need it in national football now to accept the stage, and before the trip to Brighton, it's just going to be another tough game, but, yeah, it was an important win for me, I guess, and I did it today, and, well, they just had to get three points by hookah bank, who can have done that, yeah, with the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
