00:00A quiet transfer deadline day for Hearts, but overall an interesting window as a whole.
00:05Very, very busy summer at Tyne Castle.
00:09And yet, Ben, I don't know, I find myself in a position where even though Hearts are joint top of the league
00:15and they've had a pretty good start to the season, I don't know how...
00:19I think the jury's still out on quite a lot of the business they've done so far.
00:24Yeah, and I think it was always going to be with a range of players I've sent.
00:29I mean, Curzota's come in from Serie C, I think, in Italy.
00:34Cabori's come in from Estonia, Magnussen from Iceland.
00:37These guys are coming in from leagues that are below the standard of the Premiership
00:40and are going to take time to get up to speed.
00:43So I think that was always in the planning, but you then sign the likes of Agnew for a record fee
00:49who instantly in the Livingston game, you can tell, looked a decent player.
00:53Claudio Braga, Kirazidis have made good impacts.
00:58Stuart Finlay as well, I don't know how much of a Jamestown signing he was,
01:02but he certainly seemed right up McKinnis Street, but again, made a good impact.
01:08And the goalkeeper they've signed as well towards the end of the window is their final signing.
01:12Alexander Swallow, I'm not sure if that's how you pronounce it, but I'm going to go with that anyway.
01:16I think he made like an €8 million move a few seasons ago and a lot of his experiences in the Bundesliga.
01:23They've signed a whole host of characters.
01:27It was quite an exciting window to cover from a Hearts perspective,
01:30just because it's a load of guys you haven't heard of sprinkled in with the couple of Mavericks and guys you have.
01:35So I think Hearts fans, I think there's an argument to me that Hearts arguably had the best window of the entire Premiership,
01:44just in terms of the varied, exciting players.
01:47They've filled in key areas.
01:48I think the only area of their squad that isn't really that well stocked now is right back.
01:54Borg Revnik has got an injury history building up and the only other guy in cover is Adam Forrester,
02:00who hasn't kicked a ball since he's been recalled from St. Johnson.
02:03So I do wonder about that.
02:05But I think the fact that, you know, I think Musa Drama was the only one to go on deadline day.
02:09I think that probably speaks to how efficient Hearts are going to be in the recruitment.
02:14I think gone are the days of Hearts scrambling about the final day of the window for key players.
02:19Their business was mainly done, you know, well before the season started.
02:24Never mind deadline day.
02:25Agu was very much seemed like, you know, one that came on the radar and one that they could do if, you know,
02:30it didn't need to be done, but they did it because they wanted to
02:32and they felt it was the right thing to do.
02:33So I think in terms of how Jamestown is going to work, in terms of how this player trading model is going to work,
02:38James Penright is going to AK Athens for a significant profit.
02:42And Harry Milne arguably performing better than him, than he did last season at Hearts at the minute.
02:47I think it showed that the Jamestown model and the player trading model have got works.
02:52And now they'll just hope it bears fruit.
02:54Because as you said, I don't think they are the finished pitcher yet.
02:57But the fact that they're not the finished pitcher and they've managed to gain 10 points from 12,
03:02when everybody else just seems incapable of winning.
03:05I mean, there's a clutch of teams on four points now.
03:07You know, Kilmarnock, Rangers and Mullow have all drawn every game this season.
03:13They're now on 10 points, six points clear of a lot of teams.
03:17Several clear of Aberdeen, I think.
03:19It's that point gap now.
03:20Aberdeen haven't won a game, so I mean, that point gap is like double digits already.
03:24So, yeah, I think Hearts are in a good place.
03:28I think they're still, as you say, I think we're still to see how good the business is over time.
03:32But I think the initial signs overall as a structure are good.
