00:00Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seribung Mokhtar Radin told the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court that he had no
00:08knowledge that his wife, Zizi Izzet Abdul Samad, received RM2.8 million from two unit trust agents
00:15in 2015. The 66-year-old politician said he only found out when he was called to assist in a
00:22Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigation a year later. Reading his witness statement on
00:28the first day of his defence trial, Bung Mokhtar said he was not aware that Zizi received RM2.2
00:34million from Nohaili Ahmad Mokhtar and Madi Abdul Hamid at a public bank branch in Taman Melawati.
00:42He also denied knowledge of two other payments, amounting to RM600,000, made through investment
00:48accounts on June 17, that same year. Bung Mokhtar stressed he never directed his wife to receive
00:55the funds on his behalf. The court also heard that the Ministry of Finance, Inc. had raised
01:01no objections to Felcra Berhad investing RM150 million in public mutual unit trusts. Bung Mokhtar,
01:10then the non-executive chairman of Felcra, denied expediting approval for the project or discussing
01:16Felcra's official matters with his wife. He was charged in 2019 with two counts of accepting bribes
01:23as inducement for Felcra's investment, while Zizi Izet faces three counts of abetting him.
01:29The trial, before Judge Rosli Ahmad, resumes on September 3.
