00:00Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seribung Mokhtar Radin has dismissed allegations that he and his wife, Zizi Izzet Abdul Samad,
00:08were set to receive a 2.8 million ringgit payout from Felcra BHD's 150 million ringgit unit trust investment.
00:17Describing the accusation as a malicious assumption,
00:21Bung asserted that he never abused his position as Felcra's non-executive chairman for personal gain.
00:28Bung took the stand as the first defense witness in his graft trial involving 2.8 million ringgit at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court on Thursday.
00:36His wife, Zizi Izzet, is accused of abetting him.
00:40During cross-examination by the prosecution, Bung disagreed with suggestions that his actions related to the investment
00:46were beyond his scope of duty as chairman and lacked the board's written approval.
00:52He also refuted the suggestion that the investment proposal bypassed due process,
00:58explaining that Felcra's finance department was part of the top management.
01:03Bung Mokhtar, then Felcra's non-executive chairman, was charged in May 2019 with two counts of allegedly accepting bribes
01:12as inducement for Felcra's approval to invest 150 million ringgit in public mutual unit trusts.
01:21Zizi Izzet faces three counts of abetting her husband over the same matter.
01:26The trial before Judge Rosli Ahmad resumes on September 24th.
