00:02Former actress Datin Serizizi, Izzet Abdul Samad, has been acquitted of all charges linking her to a 2.8 million
00:10ringgit bribery case involving her late husband, former Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seribung Mokhtar Radin.
00:17The KL Sessions Court discharged and acquitted the 48-year-old of three charges of abetting her husband in the
00:23case, which was linked to a 150 million ringgit unit trust investment involving Felkra Berhad.
00:30Delivering his decision on Monday, Judge Rosli Ahmad said the prosecution had failed to establish an essential ingredient of the
00:36charges, and found that Zizi Izzet had no knowledge of the investment.
00:41Rosli said the charges against Bung Mokhtar, the principal offender, could not stand against Zizi Izzet after they were withdrawn
00:49following his death.
00:50He added that the question of whether the 2.8 million ringgit was an introductory fee rather than a bribe
00:57could be raised on appeal.
00:59Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamed Fadli Mohamed Zamri said the prosecution would await instructions from the Attorney General's chambers on whether
01:07to appeal.
01:07The case has a lengthy history.
01:10The Sessions Court originally ordered the couple to enter their defence in September 2022, a decision overturned by the High
01:17Court in 2023, then reinstated by the Court of Appeal in November 2024.
01:23Bung Mokhtar testified in September last year and died in December from complications of a lung infection and kidney failure,
01:30after which prosecutors discontinued his case, leaving Zizi Izzet to stand trial alone.
01:35Zizi Izzet's bail has been returned and its conditions revoked, following her acquittal on all three charges.
