00:00Who are you?
00:01Who's out there? Somebody's out there?
00:05What do you want?
00:09Welcome to Mojo Plays, and for as vast as Red Dead Redemption 2 is,
00:14its secrets could only stay hidden for so long.
00:17Bear in mind that while some of these mysteries have concretely been solved through in-game material,
00:22others are more speculative.
00:24And although all the evidence points to these theories being correct,
00:27nothing is considered a fact until Rockstar themselves confirm it.
00:31Listen, have you seen...
00:33I'm looking for my friend Gavin.
00:37I don't know any Gavins, I'm afraid.
00:40Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:48Emerald Ranch
00:49I'll be moving on soon, though.
00:52Emerald Ranch, well, it's a strange place.
00:55During the Spines of America mission with Hosea at Emerald Ranch,
00:59Hosea will mention that the ranch owner is a nasty piece of work and keeps his daughter locked under house arrest.
01:06You can often see a woman, Miriam Wegner, standing in a second-story window.
01:10The father, Eugene Wegner, also gets especially aggressive if you approach the house.
01:15If you find the mail cart wreck outside of Fort Wallace, you'll discover a letter to Miriam from her cousin,
01:21stating she hasn't heard from her and mentions Miriam's lover dying in an awful way.
01:26Following more clues given by NPCs, you can find a saloon shut down after a gunfight and three bullet holes in the wall.
01:34Behind the saloon is a grave for Joshua, stating,
01:37accidentally shot as cause of death.
01:40Likely, this was Miriam's lover, killed by her father,
01:43who then locked her inside to prevent her escape or other possible suitors.
01:48The owner's a mean bastard.
01:50Strange, too.
01:52The likes in bullying folk.
01:54There's a daughter, but she never leaves the house.
01:57You can see her in the window sometimes.
01:59The Old Tomb.
02:01South of Roanoke Valley, players can find the Old Tomb,
02:05which is modeled after the real-life American Stonehenge.
02:08Inside, you can find multiple Viking collectibles,
02:11leading many to believe this is a mass Viking grave,
02:14complete with numerous skeleton remains.
02:17But the truth is much more horrific.
02:20On the easternmost point of the map, you can find a small monolith with Norse writing,
02:24which, when translated, reveals how the Vikings arrived, traded with the natives, and left them in peace.
02:31However, the writing hidden in the Jormungandr insignia, when translated,
02:35reveals they actually slaughtered the natives and stole their resources,
02:39leaving their remains in the tomb.
02:41This also explains why the hatchet is left stuck inside one of the skulls,
02:46which wouldn't make sense if the remains were of the Vikings.
02:49The Mayor of Strawberry.
02:50Good day, kind sir.
02:53Hello.
02:53Enjoy our fair town in peace, and be nice.
02:58Be nice.
02:59During your many visits to Strawberry,
03:01you'll often encounter the Mayor giving one of his speeches to the townsfolk,
03:05while behind his back, the residents routinely gossip about his strange behavior.
03:10Mayor Timmons claims he left Princeton and moved to Strawberry
03:13because his family was unkind to his wife.
03:16But no one in Strawberry has ever seen his wife.
03:20However, if you loot the Mayor,
03:22you can find a letter on him from his sister in which she mentions that the Mayor never married,
03:27while also referencing an event involving the Mayor and another professor at Princeton.
03:32All this hints that the Mayor is gay and had a relationship with a colleague.
03:36The only likely candidate in Strawberry is the curator of the city's Welcome Center,
03:41who even explains it was the Mayor who convinced him to move to Strawberry.
03:44This also explains why the Mayor can often be found hanging around the Welcome Center.
03:49They blamed my failure at Princeton, and a rather nasty rumor that went around about me,
03:55but it wasn't true.
03:56I... I wasn't...
03:58Limpenny.
03:59While exploring the world of Red Dead 2,
04:01you'll likely come across a village called Limpenny that had burned to the ground.
04:05While most simply looted the town of its remaining riches and moved on,
04:09there is actually a horrible revelation that can be uncovered if you look deep enough.
04:13Scattered around the village, you can find multiple barrels of kerosene with Leviticus Cornwall's brand stamped on them.
04:20The Vanderland Gang has multiple run-ins with Cornwall as they routinely steal from him,
04:25and he proves himself to be a cold, callous businessman.
04:29Vanderland!
04:31You don't know me, but you keep robbing me!
04:36My name is Leviticus Cornwall!
04:38I am not a man to be messed with by the likes of you!
04:44Given the similarities to another incident with an oil derrick that refused to do business with Cornwall,
04:49it's likely Cornwall ordered the town burned down to scare others into complying with his business demands,
04:55and left the barrels behind as a message of not only what he's capable of,
04:59but that he's also untouchable.
05:02The Pagan Ritual Site.
05:04Far off the beaten path on the western side of the map,
05:07you might have been unlucky enough to come across a grisly ritual site.
05:11With multiple insignias scattered around a mutilated corpse,
05:14retrieving the Pagan Skull Mask is only the beginning of the mystery.
05:18Also, gross.
05:20To solve the mystery of the sacrifice,
05:22players need to travel to the heartland of the Night Folk,
05:25and an abandoned town near La Cay where locals fear to tread.
05:28On the outskirts of the town,
05:30players can find the same symbols scrawled on numerous trees,
05:33and within the homes, even more ritualistic offerings and scriptures,
05:37including a shrunken head.
05:39Exploring further,
05:40La Cay seems to be the home for a black magic group,
05:43or Night Folk, as the locals call them.
05:46Night Folk.
05:47Oh, they bad people.
05:49Bad folk.
05:50Animals.
05:51A lot of them.
05:51And likely, left the remains of one of their rituals out in the wilderness as a warning.
05:56Oh, they got someone.
05:58Oh, poor fella.
06:00Oh, too late for him.
06:02That's bad juju, alright.
06:04Clausen's Rest.
06:05Situated alone north of Valentine,
06:07players can find a cottage perched on a hillside that they need to break into to enter.
06:12Along with numerous empty cans of food,
06:14you can find a letter addressed to the two children of the home from their mother,
06:17telling them to stay inside and not open the door for any reason,
06:21while she sets out to track down the men who robbed them and retrieve their money.
06:25Unfortunately, it's clear the mother never returned,
06:28and the children, unfortunately, ran out of food and starved to death waiting for her.
06:33Heading further north with Javier during the mission home robbery,
06:37A couple fellas I heard in town, they said,
06:40said it was really freakish.
06:43Family local boogeymen, I guess.
06:45But they're crooked in every way.
06:48If you sneak up on the location near Chez Porter,
06:51you can hear two men talking and briefly mentioning how the father killed a woman
06:55who came to their farm and buried her in the woods behind the property.
06:59Seriously awful sad stuff.
07:02The giant.
07:03If players are extra adventurous,
07:05they can find the remains of what looks like a giant skeleton
07:08near the top of Mount Sean, hidden under an alcove.
07:11While this discovery doesn't hint that giants were real within the game,
07:15it does hint towards an American folktale about Paul Bunyan,
07:19a man known for his enormous size and strength.
07:22Alongside the skeleton are the remains of an ox,
07:25likely Bunyan's longtime ox companion, Babe.
07:28Legend says Bunyan was killed by a blow to the head,
07:31and upon investigation,
07:33the cause of death is likely the large hole in the side of the skull.
07:36A smaller humanoid skeleton nearby was likely the murderer
07:40who also died during their altercation.
07:42Bunyan isn't the only giant in the game either,
07:46as players can find another who claims that he is hiding
07:49because he would be killed over people's fear of his enormous size.
07:52I'm rather lonely.
07:54You see, I'm too big.
07:57I haven't got any friends because I'm too big.
08:00Is that so?
08:01Yes.
08:03Yes, it is so.
08:04That's sort of why I said it.
08:06Likely the same fate that befell Bunyan.
08:08Gertrude Braithwaite.
08:21Gertrude Braithwaite and her condition have long been speculated by players
08:25who find her locked in an outhouse behind Braithwaite Manor.
08:28Penelope Braithwaite will mention Gertrude was locked away
08:31due to her disfigurement and mental issues.
08:34But that might not be the whole story.
08:36Gertrude wasn't always like this
08:38and appeared to have a relatively normal early life
08:41until her condition began.
08:43And instead of sending her away for help,
08:45her family locked her away.
08:47Gertrude will routinely repeat a series of numbers
08:50should players wait outside her hut long enough.
08:53But to unlock their meaning,
08:54you need to travel east to Butcher Creek,
08:57a town rumored to suffer from demonic possession.
09:00If players manage to locate all the outhouses in the town
09:03in the order of Gertrude's numbers,
09:05they form a pentagram.
09:07Gertrude's cleft lip and vulgar nature
09:09also allude to the possibility that Gertrude isn't crazy.
09:13She's been possessed by a demon.
09:15I can hear you.
09:18Someone out there, someone out there.
09:21Yes, I know it.
09:23I'll keep...
09:24Pleasance
09:28Pleasance is a town long shrouded in mystery
09:31with many believing it to have been struck
09:33by some kind of mysterious plague
09:35based on the paintings on the barn.
09:37However, it goes much deeper than that.
09:40Scrawled throughout the town,
09:41players can find messages
09:42ill with sin and unclean sinners.
09:45While just outside the town,
09:47players can find the remains
09:48of an enormous snake in a tree.
09:50Considering the town's church
09:51is the only one in-game without a cross,
09:54along with the numerous messages about sin,
09:57it's most likely the residents of Pleasance
09:59were Satanists who worshipped the enormous snake.
10:02However, once the surrounding religious residents
10:04found out about the town,
10:06they murdered all ten of the residents and the snake,
10:09believing it to be the devil incarnate
10:11and left messages as a warning
10:13to other possible Satanists.
10:15This also explains the town's extremely short time
10:18between being settled and abandoned.
10:21Gavin
10:21Guaranteed at some point
10:35during your exploration of the Wild West,
10:38you've crossed paths
10:39with a man named Nigel
10:40relentlessly searching for his friend Gavin.
10:43He can be encountered
10:44all over the map in numerous towns,
10:47endlessly calling for Gavin
10:48and pleading for anyone
10:49to help him find his friend.
10:51However, Gavin doesn't appear
10:53to be anywhere within the game.
10:55But, if players loot Nigel,
10:57they'll find a letter amongst his belongings.
11:00Within the letter,
11:00a childhood friend of Nigel's
11:02mentions the tragic passing of Nigel's father,
11:05as well as his mother's hope
11:06that he would see sense one day
11:08and make his father proud
11:09by becoming rich in America.
11:12It's likely the death of Nigel's father
11:14forced his split personality within Nigel
11:16and created Gavin
11:17to help him deal with his grief
11:19and make his father proud
11:20until he eventually achieved his dreams
11:23and Gavin was no longer needed.
11:25I told the trouble of this to life
11:26I'd be six months.
11:27It's been seven or eight years now.
11:31I'd have stopped after seven or eight days.
11:34What's a mystery you solved in the game
11:36or hope to one day have answers for?
